Hello Rohit,
analog to the correspondences the eRec application uses the description (in tcode SMARTFORMS the field is labeled Meaning) of the smartform for the subject of the tell a friend email. So if you create your customer smartform for the tell a friend service and customized it in the IMG you can influence the subject be choosing the description you like.
If you need some more fancy stuff to be done you find the implementation in function module HRRCF_MDL_JOBS_TELL_A_FRIEND line 94.

"Tell a Friend" Feature for Apps Changed?

When I "tell a friend" via email through the button the app store, it no longer works on their iphone.
It used to bring up that app's page in the app store, now it tries to open a safari page before giving an error message. This is either a bug or Apple has chosen to make it so that those emails are only to be opened on a computer and opened by itunes in order to market the attractiveness of apps to people who don't already own an iphone.
I'm really hoping it is a bug they plan on fixing and not a move that puts marketing for Apple ahead of functionality for Apple customers. I haven't been able to find anywhere any kind of announcement that they were changing the way it worked. Does anyone know anything about this?

Both the Mac App Store and the iTunes App Store have a Tell A Friend function. You will find it by clicking on the arrow to the right of the price of the app in question.

EREC:Customizing error of tell a friend service

Hi Experts,
As an external candidate, he searched for jobs and opened that job details and from he clicked on tell a friend button.
a pop up is opened and he entered receiver name and email and then after click on send button.
but the reciver didn't getting mail.
In debugging in the method SC_SEND_TO_A_FRIEND of class CL_HRRCF_M_TELL_A_FRIEND, getting
"Customizing error of tell a friend service".
How to resolve this..?

Please check the documentation in IMG -> Talent Warehouse -> Candidate -> Candidate Services -> Set Up Tell A Friend Service.
There you will find all settings you have to maintain (I guess the SERVICE_USER might be missing).

Galleries Tell a friend

When using Galleries Tell a Friend feature, Is there any way to change who the email is from?
When the email arrives from .Mac Web Galleries, My family and friends email app. sorts it out as junk mail. And or they delete it as if it were spam.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you using Mail and a .Mac mail account. When I send a gallery email the From is my primary .Mac email account. Since there's a png image file in the email maybe that's why the email is being targeted as spam.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

ITunes & App Store in Mac show old e-mail when using "Tell a Friend"

I have changed my e-mail address on my Apple Account a while ago. All seems to work and when i go to manage the account it shows my current e-mail.
But when i use "Tell a Friend" feature in the iTunes Store and in the App Sore in Mac is shows my old e-mail. Where can i update this please?

Whilst browsing through the other questions...I found a solution that whilst seemingly unlikely...worked for me.

Quick summary:
Under parental controls, disable the app store option but enable the iTunes U option. Click okay. Wait for iTunes to load iTunes U. Once that's done, go back to parental controls and enable the app store option and voila! problem solved. Strange but true. =)

"Tell a Friend" email from MobileMe album - no images or formatting

When I use "tell a friend" from a MobileMe album, it usually calls up "mail" with fancy body text with images of the key album photo with links and a nice layout.
Now, when I use it, it just comes up with plain text as the email message. I don't know why or how I can change it back to the way it used to be.
I've tried rebuilding the iPhoto library using the cmd+option launch and checking the last three boxes. Anything else I have missed out? I'm not using any email encryption software as well. Just Apple "mail".

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Is your Mail preferences set for RTF formatting or just plain text? That might be the reason. Set it to RTF if it's not that already. Other than that try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, reboot and try again.

"Tell a friend" email for web galleries- black on black for PC users

Whenever I send out an email to friends with info for a web gallery, everyone who uses a PC (most everyone I know) gets the email and the text is black on a black background and they can't read it. I have to add text to the email with the username and password. When I cc myself on the email and get it on my Mac, it's white text on black background.
What's going on here? It's been this way for 4 web galleries so far.

Try using the Tell a Friend option in iPhoto's toolbar instead of the option of the online gallery. It will look like this except I've changed the font and color of the lower URL line which you can do with this method.

IPhoto crashes when Tell A Friend in Web Gallery

When I click on Tell A Friend in my Web Gallery, Mail opens with "The Page Cannot Be Found" in the Subject line and "HTTP Error 404- File or directory not found" within the body of the text as well as other information. Also a message box pops up stating " The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly" . This will occur without fail. If I change the iPhoto preference "Email Photos using:Mail" to Entourage instead of Mail the problem goes away and I can email the invitation without a hitch. However, I would like to use Mail since this is my preferred email application. I have not had any problems with Mail when I use it outside of iPhoto. Does anyone have a solution?

Tell a Friend emails sent using iPhoto--Subject Line

I published two separate albums to my gallery using iPhoto (each with different names and password protected with different user names and passwords and hidden on my gallery page.) I sent a tell a friend e-mail for each album to two different distribution lists (one to my side of the family, the other to my husband's side of the family.) I also sent each e-mail to both me and my son as part of each distribution list. My son and I each received the emails in Apple mail--on my iMac and his MacBook Pro. I used the SAME SUBJECT in the Subject line on both "tell a friend" emails for the two different albums, and all information in each email was correct when I sent the emails: Each had different album numbers in the link to the gallery page and the correct corresponding assigned username and password.
We received both emails which appeared fine when viewed. But once one album was accessed on the gallery page using one of the links, the text in the other email changed to the text in the other e-mail, including the username and password.
I tested this by resending the tell a friend emails using different subject lines and did not have the problem. Can anyone explain this?

It is very slow and I can not find the way to customize the standard mail template.
There is no way to customize that template. If it does not suit you needs send a regular email with the URL to the gallery in it.
As far a slowness is concerned need more info on your setup. How much free space on the boot drive? How much memory? How many pictures in the library?
from the other user the template is somehow corrupted
Delete the Delete iPhoto preference file , com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in the User/Library/Preferences folder for that user, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Do the templates work if you try the Tell a Friend from the gallery online?

ISometimes users try to paste this link directly ,in this case in Linkedin, and it causes an error due to 'HHTP' instead of 'http'. I've found HTTPURLLOC table, where this parameter is riden, but it's not possible storing values in this table in lower case.
Could you shed light on this issue?

Hi Maria,
I double-checked with Basis and they confirmed that HTTPURLLOC always stores the entries in capital letters when you maintain the table via SE16.
To overcome this you could try to maintain the table in a different way - eg. by direct modification on database or a small report with INSERT/UPDATE operations.

Tell a Friend not putting preview pic in Mail

I have a MobileMe gallery on 24" iMac. When I click "Tell a Friend" Mail opens and provides a stock message and a link but not the preview picture with the black background and "View Album" link like I get on my MBP. The iMac is fully updated.
Is there a setting in iPhoto or Mail that needs to changed to get the preview pic?

App Store - podcast - "Tell a friend"

Hi All;
I was looking at some podcasts in the app store and clicked on the "tell a friend" button. Now, every time I listen to my Touch, there is an envelope icon in the bar with the podcast info in the text. I tried sending it to several people, but that didn't delete it. How do I get rid of the icon?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

Add a "Tell a Friend" button to an iWeb page?

When you create a .mac web gallery page on the top toolbar there is a button to "tell a friend" with an envelope icon. Clicking the button brings up a window that allows you to enter your name and the email address of the person you want to share the page with.
Is it possible to add this same button or at least functionality to an iWeb page?
I know you can copy the link and email it, but I'm thinking more about family that doesn't know how to do stuff like that and that button would be very helpful for them to share our page.
