I JUST bought this (Envy 4501) yesterday and have done everything (I believe) correctly...but I cannot pursue the balance of the installation of the wireless becuase I have an error message that won't go away..it states "OLDER CARTRIDGE-cartridges for older generation of printer"...Yet..I installed the original cartridges that came in the box.
And the error message will NOT go away..no matter what other button I press...
help !!

Well, rats. This is one of those things that should not happen.
I suggest you contact HP Technical Support -- this community forum is not the best format for this kind of problem because we can't help with stubborn cartridges that should be working.
HP can either fix the problem or perhaps quickly send you some replacement cartridges for your new printer.

Please go to Transaction u2013 OVAH (System Message), go to your message Number and change System message category from u201CWu201D to u201CEu201D.
Try to create Sales Order again and let us know whether your problem get resolved or not.

Eroor Message (-222) in itunes

I jeep getting this message when i try to download auido that i bought. I go to my account in itunes and try the download now and it given me unknown error (-222). please help.

Why is there NOT a list of Eroor Messages w/Fixes?

It seems to me that many of these Error Codes are pretty well tied into each user. Mine is "Error Code -38 Audio . . . " Why can't there just be a list of these codes and pointers as to where the Error is coming from, such as Mhz of the song not being the default 44.xMhz and being set at 41.xMhz and such? It would make these error messages more (as Steve Colbert would say) "messageyer."

While not pretending to defend or justify the problem, usually cryptic system messages are simply because the function that is reporting the error message (i.e popping up the window that states the Error Code -38) is not necessarily the driver/system call (whatever) that is causing the problem.
For instance if I try to save a file to a place where I don't have permissions, the application will attempt to call the 'save' function, the 'save' function tries to write to the disk, the disk then reports that it cannot because the filesystem is not letting me and this simply gets reported back up the chain as error -99 cannot copy file. The error is coming from one place and the 'cannot copy file' is coming from the actual 'save' function (I am of course making these examples up to illustrate a point).
So it can be hard to necessarily give a 'proper' description of a given error if that error is being generated by a driver/system function that is core to the Operating system but shared by different applications.
The best that can be done is to report the 'core' error number and hope that the developer of the application (in this case Logic) is able to match error 38 with something meaningful in a context of its own application.

As far as I can see -38 is a filesystem error

Now what does that mean?
I have no idea *in the context* of your problem. However this illustrates that -38 is a 'filesystem' error code and not a specific Logic error, which is why Logic cannot give you a nice error message.
I hope that made sense.
PS I work with developers of software and have to field these types of questions myself but I am not a programmer so maybe someone can elaborate further if needed.

I see you are unable to update your iPhone. If you are trying to update over the air, I would suggest trying to use iTunes via Wi-Fi, see this article:

That article provides the following regarding that error:
Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

HT201269 error message 3 when trying to restore iphone5

I have been trying to update my phone to ios7 software and it wouldnt complete and afterwards i could get no service on my phone. I then had to restore factory settings on phone but after numerous attempts the phone would not restore and kept saying eroor message 3 phone could no restore . Has anyone else had this problem?

Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software and ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow these stepsfor assistance with security software.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow theadvanced iTunes Store troubleshooting steps to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information."
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I downgraded the Time Capsule to 7.6.1
I've had similar issues using a 4th Gen running 7.6.3 with OS 10.6.8, but have stuck with it because the performance with 7.6.1 was actually worse in my situation. Your own setup may well perform differently, but you might want to monitor your TC’s behavior closely for at least a while. Or just downgrade to 7.5.2, as LaPastenague suggested. In my case, downgrading to 7.6.1 — I have a recent 4th Gen, which won’t accept any earlier basebinary file — caused serious disk spin issues, a not uncommon problem to judge from the many complaints about it appearing on this list.
Apple: improve your regression testing, please!
My question: Does anyone have a sense, based perhaps on Apple‘s past practice, of whether it is at all likely that there will be future firmware upgrades for pre-802.11ac TCs — or should anyone currently using these legacy devices just abandon all hope at this point?

How to change the language of the eroor message. I've installed oracle in english, but my regional settings were german. I'd like to switch back to english.

The NLS_LANG variable is made up of three components: LANGUAGE_TERRITORY.CHARACTERSET.
Therefore dependent on the character set that you specified for your database, you should set NLS_LANG as specified above.
e.g. If your database character set is 'WE8ISO8859P1' then set NLS_LANG as follows:
'AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1'

Java Script error message keeps popping up

I have been using Firefox for years...but i just started getting a CONTINUAL JavaScript Application error message. It says:

This happens over and over...every few seconds...making Firefox unusable.
i have uninstalled Firefox (although keeping my personal settings) and reinstalled. No change in the eroor messages.

HT203175 Why am I getting an Error while trying to install itunes

    After a recent itunes update I started getting an error about other software interferring with itunes (I had not installed any other software) I was told to try reinstall itunes.
    When I try to reinstall itunes I get an error that says "The feature you are trying to use is a network resource that is unavailable" I also get this eroor message if I try to uninstall itunes.
    I am not on a network! I never have been! This is just my Home use PC laptop.
    Everything else on this computer seems to be working fine.
    So now I have no itunes on my PC laptop at all.
    Does anyone have any idea whats going on or how to fix this problem?

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Problems with saving a html webpage under windows 7

Hello people,
Ik have the next problem. When I an webpage witch I have made for instanse webpage.html open and I change something in it en I wanna save this changes in my webpage I get the next message (maybe the translation is not the right one) An error occurred while accessing E:\users\name\websites\MFC936D.tmp.
This tmp file has every time a different name. The site is not saved (webpage.html) but the html page disapeares when I click the eroor message away. And the tmp file displays in the map where the files are being saved.
My dreamweaver cs4 runs under windows 7
I hope someone can help me.

E: is another partition were I save my data too.
The file is maybe read only you say. But 2 things sometimes it saves right after I have tried it a few times. And second I have started dreamweaver with administration rights, so you think he has all the rights. But the sme thng happened.
