Eror in automatic time & date setting

Suddenly the automatic time & date function in System Preferences is returning an incorrect time. I am shown in the correct time zone (EDT), but using the automatic setting puts the time ahead by 4 hours. I believe that would be GMT. Cannot figure out why it would do this. I am using an early-2008 MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.8.2.
Intrerestingly, my iPhone 4S running iOS 6 is showing the correct time.
Anyone else experiencing this, or have any ideas how do return to the correct time?

    That's probably an issue with '''cookies''' rather than with clearing browsing history. Are you clearing your cookies, too?
    If you want to continue clearing your cookies when Firefox closes, look for an extension that will save the cookie for a preference like that one

  • [SOLVED] Gnome's automatic time zone setting never triggers

    Whenever I travel across timezones, I need to open Date & Time Settings and turn Automatic Time Zone off and then on again. When I do that, the timezone updates correctly. Is there maybe a super-long refresh interval on that feature by default? Or some optional package I need to install to actually enable it? Thanks for any suggestions.

    Oh good call, that was off. I'll assume that was the issue. (I guess turning on Automatic Time Zone does one location check irrespective of the setting?)

  • Apple TV.2: Time & Date Set Up Errors

    Hi, I bought the newest version of the Apple TV in Panama and took it with me to Venezuela. Every time I try to "hook it up", it never adjusts the time and date setting and simply says "Activating" until it goes to sleep. I've had it for a long time now and I haven't had the chance of using it. Other methods online talk about turning off Firewall, or just letting it sit there until it adjusts but I can't do "let it sit" because it will go to sleep. Hoping for your reply/hint. Thank you.

    I have an Isignia HDTV and my Apple TV (generation 2) does the same thing. Whenever it is asleep and I tell it to wake up it turns on. But there is no input signal at all. The only way I am able to get the signal through is to unplug the Apple TV power cord and plug it back in.
    EDIT: I found out how to wake up the ATV2!! Make sure your tv (vizio, sony, insiginia etc.) is turned on to the correct input. Then turn on AppleTV if the screen is still blank using the ATV2 remote hold the MENU and PLAY/PAUSE button at the same time and the ATV2 should wake up. Just figured this out.

  • Under Date & Time Preferences, Apple's automatic time zone setting puts some Aleutian Islands in the wrong time zone.

    I've been checking all around to find a source to this problem and it seems to continue leading back to where the problem may be with Apple's time zone referencing software.  Some time zone maps incorrectly place all the Aleutian Islands in the Aleutian/Hawaiian Time Zone, but several of the eastern Aleutian Islands should be in the Alaska Time Zone instead. I wonder if Apple's time zone software is referencing an incorrect time map.
    Currently, I do a lot of travelling with my laptop and everytime I return home, I have to reset my time preferences to a manual setting.  It's a real nuisance which should be unnecessary with todays technology. Any help finding a solution would be appreciated.

    Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the Privacy tab.
    Make sure:  Enable Location Services is selected.
    If that was already selected, try this article >  About Location Services / Lion
    The information applies to Mavericks as well.

  • Missing Time & Date setting access

    I'm using Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro.  Somehow my System Preference dialog/tool to set the time and date disappeared from every possible access point.  So I was going to upgrade to Lion and fix the problem at the same time.  But can't sign in to the App Store as it requires a check on the time and date.  I was travelling last month and my system is still set at GMT, four hours later than my EST.  So sign in dialog doesn't work and nothing with download.

    I am using a Panasonic  HDC TM 300.
    I have tried copying the individual .mts files and copying the entire folder structur. Neither of these show the EXIF info in the PPro cs 4 metadata (EXIF section).
    As I said the date/time info etc  shows up in  Adobe Bridge.
    Am I missing something or is this a problem with PPro cs 4??

  • Automatic Time/date of a pdf file?

    How can I add an auto timestamp to the pdf file name?

    You need a folder level script to change the file name automatically.
    You then can call the save function from a button in your form.
    Script for Click:Event of a Save Button
    event.target.mySaveDoc(event.target);
    Folder level script
    //Date function
    function myDateString()
         return util.printd("dd.mm.yyyy"+" - "+"HH.MM.ss", new Date());
    //Save function
    var mySaveDoc = app.trustedFunction(function(doc)
         var aDocumentFileName = this.documentFileName;
         if (aDocumentFileName == "MyForm.pdf")
              app.beginPriv();
              var myPath = app.getPath("user", "documents") + "/" + "MyForm" + " - " + myDateString() + ".pdf";
              doc.saveAs(myPath);
              app.endPriv();

  • Time/Date/Usage Stats Wonkiness?

    Hey, who says battery life is subpar? I'm showing 750 hours/31 days Usage!
    This "seems" to be related to the time/date errors that show up periodically. Not sure if it is related to syncing - I tend to leave iPhone on the "manual" time date setting and mil time hoping it will stick but apparently the phone will revert to automatic? Not sure on that but in any event what's the deal?

    Wow! and I thought mine had good battery life!
    The only time when my iPhone showed discrepancies in usage times was when switched it completely off for a couple of hours and powered it back on, usages times all of a sudden were higher then standby times.

  • Nokia 6030 lose time/date settings

    Hy , i've a question about time/date setting lost every time i need to remove the battery to replace SIM card on a nokia 6030 (new just purchased).
    I think this is a problem of the phone because i've another 6230i that do the same thing ,but only after 3-4 years of correct work(and never lost time/date setting until now) .
    There is anyone that can confirm me if this is a phone bug (as i believe) ?

    I received one comment that say : it's a phone problem , and two others comments that say: no, it's normal for a phone without a backup battery .....anyone has a comment on this ? (for me it's not so clear).
    There is any document or manual of this phone that explain this ?
    All of the phone manuals that i've seen do not show if there is a battery backup or not installed.

  • Set Time & Date Automatically

    Hi folks, I ventured into the Time/date settings and have my time zone set to Eastern USA, and checked the set time/date automatically setting. Then I locked that window via the paclock in the lower left.
    How often does Snow Leopard ping those servers? What would happen if for whatever reason the time server was not reachable?
    What if the LAN I'm on has its own time service?

    I found this thread while investigating a solution for the same problem on my one-month-old unibody MBP running 10.5.6. The clock on my MBP and my old G4 iMac have never been in sync because the iMac (forever stuck on Tiger) can set the time automatically using a time server and the MBP cannot.
    I keep all of the System Preferences which have lock/unlock capability locked. Once I unlocked the Date & Time preferences and enabled the "automatic" option, re-locking or leaving Date & Time unlocked had no effect. If I quit System Preferences, the "Set date & time automatically" option in the Date & Time pane would be unchecked the next time I opened System Preferences and went into the Date & Time pane.
    I tried the new user creation--no admin privileges--and that did not have any effect, so I deleted the non-admin user. On a whim, I created another admin user (my account is an admin). Before logging in as the new admin user, I made sure the "automatic" option was enabled and the Date & Time pane was locked. I think I quit System Preferences at this point, but I am not absolutely certain. I used fast user switching to login as the new admin user, went into the Date & Time preferences pane, and the "automatic" option was checked. I switched between the accounts a couple of times, going in and out of System Preferences in each account and the "automatic" option stayed enabled. I logged out of both accounts and the "automatic" option survived when I logged back into my usual account. The next thing I did was delete the new admin user and restart the computer. When I logged in normally, the "automatic" option was still set.
    I have no idea why creating a new admin account would solve the problem and I would be really interested to know if it works for anyone else....
