ERP 8.12 TR8.98 and available business services question

Hi there
We are just about to upgrade to TR 8.98 from 8.96 primarily to make use of BSSV functionality. We are still on ERP 8.12.
I am a little confused about what we would have access to in 8.12 TR8.98.
I thought I read that the RI's are for testing purposes and should not be used in production, but used as a basis for development.
I just found document 'JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Business Services 9.0 Reference Guide' which lists quite a few available business services that look ready to use.
Would these now be available to us on ERP 8.12 TR8.98 or do we need to be on ERP 9.0 to use these services, which are not prefixed with 'RI'.
I would just like to clarify what our situation will be and if we don't have these services, could we get them in the form of an ESU?
Best Regards,
Perusha

Yes, you can use the JDE Business Service Server to simulate the E1-Adapter associated with webMethods. Oracle provides out of the box Business Services for a majority of the E1 transactions. We have implemented Business Services Server with our webMethods and it is working very well.

  • WCF and OSB business service

    OSB 10g
    Hi
Has anyone managed to successfully connect to a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Web service endpoint. I created a business service to
connect to the web service but the connection times out after a pre-defined period of time. I can successfully connect to the WCF web service if I
create a .NET client proxy application.
    thanks
    Damien

    Hi Manoj,
We want to connect our production esb to the ERP ( IFS) system and we want to do this with the OSB. The ERP system has a lot http services and they are all running on jboss. On this app server they have enabled ntlm so users can their account to fill in there project hours /administration.
I got this working with a authenticator in a jdeveloper 11g web service proxy client. ( http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/04/jax-ws-web-service-proxy-client-and.html )

  • Comparision bw BC and TopLink business service

    Hi Experts,
I am new to JDev. It appears to me that developing applications with BC in the back end is easier.
Is there any disadvantage of using AppModule as Data Control as compared to Toplink. ?
Can we use multiple types of Business Services in the same applications. eg AppMod and TopLink just in case.?

You are correct in your observation that ADF BC is easier to develop with since it offers more out-of-the-box declarative features.
There are also some things that TopLink does better though.
For example you can more easily map an OO designed set of object to an existing database (meet in the middle scenario).
Another thing is that with TopLink you are using java classes that don't need to extend any interface (POJO).
While ADF BC wizards are only available in JDev, TopLink has it's own stand alone tool - which means it is a bit easier to use if you are not using JDeveloper as your tool.
At the end of the day the big difference though is the "way of thinking" - see this blog entry:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2006/03/10
And the great thing is that you can have both used in the same project :-)

But this is the right direction.

  • Visual Composer and BI Consumer Services questions

    Hi experts,
Does anybody know if, with VC 7.1 EhP1, it is possible to use the BICS service on a separate BI java instance? The reason I am asking is that we have the following systems:
    BI (ABAP) 7.0 EhP1
    BI (java) 7.0 EhP1
    CE 7.1 EhP1
and most probably, both BI java & ABAP systems will evolve together at a different pace than de CE system. With that in mind, maybe it is recommanded to use the BICS services hosted on the BI java instead of CE.
If you have any opinions or recommandations on the subject, I will be more than happy to hear about them.
    Nathalie

    Hey Grace,
It is very much possible... to access BI Java (7.0 ehp1) you create a system in your CE 7.1 portal (system administration) and in query wizard of VC select this system... In this way you can access all queries of BI in VC CE 7.1.
to access BI ABAP system... you can create RFC destinations in your CE -> netweaver administration -> RFC destinations / Jco destinations.
we are also following same landscape.... let me know if you have anymore questions...

  • Difference between Business System and Business Service in ID

There are some tiny little doubts for a newbie which usually appear and we don't really have the answer.
We know that sometimes we two ways to implement a process, and it works for the two ways, but we not always understand why.
This was one of my doubts, what was the great difference between a Business System and a Business Service...?
Of course I had a tiny little idea but now I have the answer and maybe it will be useful to anyone who questioned about it...
A Business System is defined in the SLD and is used as sender and receiver in the ID. However in some cases, the details of the implementing application are not available(in a B2B communication, where the system belongs to a different company. A Business Service represents an abstract entity for adressing the senders and receivers of messages. Therefore, when using Business Servces, it is no longer necessary to define any Business Systems in the SLD.

    Hi Goncalo,
one important difference is that a business service has no SLD entries and so also no assigned products/SWCVs. So the configuration in IB Directory can become uncomfortable if there a lot interfaces.

    Udo

  • Advantage and diff   btw Business service n business system

    hi,
can anyone tell me the relevance n usage and importance of business system and business service,
mean when do business service and business systems comes into picture respectively,
    thanks,
    pratibha

    Hi Pratibha,
You genrally create a business system for systems which are part of your system landscape, or else you create business service.
Business Service is created for abstract systems, for example there might be a company which is part of your XI scenario, but their system is not part of your landscape however they ave provided you their interfaces, in this case u will be using a business service.
    For example
i have scenario where i have to pick data from mainframe(FILE) and post it to R/3 through XI. Then i would create a business system for R/3 and a business service for the file system.
For business service you will have to assign the inbound and outbound interfaces in ID explicitly unlike for a business system.
    Pls go through these too:

  • Business Services Configuration in SCSM or SCOM?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for someone with both SCOM 2012 and SCSM 2012 experience who can advise the best and/or preferred method of creating/populating Business Services in Service Manager 2012...
The reason that I ask is that once we have a rock solid process for logging Incidents and Service Request, our next major priorities will be to get "basic" reporting & change management working.
Change Management will obviously use the Business Services in the usual way - to manage changes that will affect the business service, whereas the level of reporting we want to obtain from the "basic" reporting is what Incidents have been occurring
(possibly which categories they were logged under) and which Business service the Incidents Affected.
Now, this is where I'm in two minds:
On one hand a "non-technical" Microsoft field engineer suggested to create business service "place holders" and then configure SCSM to use these "dummy" (non-configured) business services for reporting purposes.
On the other hand we have SCOM 2012 and I believe the preferred method is to import SCOM distributed Apps as Business services which has many additional long term benefits like being able to manage the end-to-end "Availability" of a Business Service
    etc.
My biggest issue with creating "place holder" Business Services in SCSM is the amount of time it will take to configure all the templates with the "dummy" services only to have to reconfigure everything once we Import the "Real"
Business Services from distributed apps configured in SCOM. It seems like a LOT of double handling to me.
So, my question is basically (bare with me because I have VERY little SCOM knowledge) is there a way to create an MP in SCOM which would contain a "Distributed Application Template" (VERY basic Config) which can simply be duplicated MANY times
and change it's name to match each of our Business Services. Once done the MP containing the Distributed Apps can be imported to SCSM and then the Business Service would still be "Dummy" blank place holders but they've also be the legitimate/actual
Distributed apps that we will want to be using later down the track.
If we went down this path and we kept an unsealed copy of this management pack, would it also be possible to go back and make changes to the MANY distributed apps to update the CI relationship information in SCSM?
Hope this makes sense... basically I thought it would make more sense to create the "dummy" Business Services in SCOM and import them to SCSM for use now and in the future rather than create the "dummy" business services in SCSM now only
to replace them with new imported Business Services from SCOM.
Your thoughts, ideas and guidance will be GREATLY appreciated.

  • Proxy business services in osb

In osb if i want to get data from a client then what is the procedure
I am using a business service whose endpointuri is a proxy service (protocol http)
And this business service is inturn called by my local proxy service
    Is this procedure correct ?
if not then what is the correct procedure how many proxy and business services do i need to get data from my client
    Thanks,
    Rahul

How many Proxy Services and Business Services to use depends on the use case.
For example, if your client will initiate a transaction when it has some data to send to another system then you will have to configure following flow:
First system (wants to send some data)--> Proxy Service(to receive data from Client) --> Business Service (to call the second system) --> second system web service API
Another scenario in which you need to get some data from the second system when requested by the first system (query scenario) the above flow would still remain the same.
Addition of another Proxy service depends on specific use case and scope of re-usability etc. For example if you want to fetch data from a system and that query can be reused in various processes or can also be called from various client applications then you can create a wrapper Proxy above the Business service and call this Proxy Service instead of calling the business service from your Proxy.
Domain structure also is a deciding factor, for example if you want to call a Proxy in one domain from another domain you can use a Business Service in the requesting domain.

  • How to relate a Change Request to a Business Service?

    Hi
When I list my Business Services under Configuration Items in SCSM, I have several that are imported from SCOM.
If I create a CR, and select add to Config Items to Change, and choose Business Service from select objects, the list is empty
    What am I doing wrong?
    Regards,
    Arne

If you create a business service manually, does it show up in the list picker?

  • OSB problem posting 5MB body to a business service endpoint

    Hello,
I have an https endpoint they results in a Broken pipe exception after running for about 10mins if I send a SOAP body greater than 5MB. If I send the same request to this endpoint using SOAPUI (no OSB involvement) it works fine and completes in <1min, it only fails through OSB. Also if the request is less than 5MB it works fine through OSB and again completes in <1min.
I've tried calling a proxy service (through test console and SOAPUI) and the business service (through test console) and all fail with the same broken pipe exception. Below is the constant state of the thread during this 10min period.

    Hello,
I've tried content streaming but it made no difference. Maybe I've misunderstood content streaming but I thought you use this when body variable in the pipeline pair of a proxy is too big to manipulate in memory. In my scenario this is not a problem (I can report on the body fine just before I route to the business service) the only issue occurs when I call the business service with a request greater than 5MB.
I've already adjusted the WLS timeouts/message sizes as follows:
Max Post Size = -1 (although I think this is only used for POST to WLS rather than the other way around)
    Max Message Size = 50000000
    JTA timeout = 60
The only stack trace is for the broken pipe:

  • Having problem in passing the values in business service in OSB.

    hi ,
in my requirement i have to write a string in AQ , i have created a AQ adapter and a business service related to that now i have a variable which contains the string i have to pass, how i can paas this variable in my business service using service callout or publish ??
    Edited by: 990437 on Mar 6, 2013 1:36 AM

I checked the Business Service using the test console . It worked fine .
There is no listener on the AQ . The test messages and the messages sent using the service callout are still there.
I have logged the body variable and I can see its fine.
The thing is Service Callout works but at the end throws an error :

On the other hand the Publish Action with either QoS mode does nothing . No exception , No messages in the AQ . It does not do anything at all.

  • Business Service with multiple HTTP Request Methods

    hi all -
I'm new to OSB and trying to prototype a solution. I have a service provider that exposes a number of HTTP operations (GET/PUT/POST/DELETE). It's a JAX-RS implementation.
I was looking to create 1 proxy service and 1 business service for that service provider. But, within my business service, I must chose a 'HTTP Request Method' and it allows only 1 type (either GET, PUT, POST, DELETE). So, I have something working, but only for a single type (POST in my prototype). I figure I could create more proxy and business services for the other HTTP Request Methods, but I'm not sure if this is the correct approach (design/architecture).
My other thought was to create a proxy service to front the service provider, but looking at the documentation, it looks like there should be a business service for each proxy service. If it's possible to use a proxy service without a business service to mediate the service provider, where would I add my URLs for the service provider in the proxy service.
My apologies on the 2 part architecture/design question. I thought the group would help with getting me started.
    thanks jim

  • How to send query string to OSB Business Service?

    Hi
I need to call a Servlet which is accepting http get request.
    My system design is
I have a web service interface that I need to expose to Front end application. I am using Proxy service for this.
Then I have a servlet at end system and using Business service to send request to servlet.
I need to pass username, password, jndi context and payload using url encoding.
What all steps do I need to follow for this? How to create query string , which variable I need to play with inbound or outbound?
I have gone through all the answers on this forum but could not understand much.
    Thanks
    Vibhor

    Hii
I am still unable to send http get request to end service.
In flow I have setted $outbound/transport/request-http/query-string too.
But I have to send request with url encoding.
How to encode query string and how can I check whether my request is going correctly or not, is there any variable in which complete url would be stored.
    Thanks
    Vibhor

  • Business Service attached to a clustered webservice published on OSR.

I'm developing a customer's first SOA project. This project is about to put one of its many webservices into the OSB.
The problem: I have this webservice in cluster (one cluster for eatch environment - development, accept and production) and the customer's IT polices dont let me change anything that is published in development when publishing it on the other environments.
I have one OSB and one OSR for eatch environment to, so, the solution I'm trying to implement is to publish, on each environment, the environment's cluster urls on the OSR, on each environment's OSB publish a reference to the environment's OSR with the same name and, on the OEPE, make the Business Service consume the WSDL (by port) from that OSR (same name).
This is working fine with only one webservice url published on each OSR. but I have tried several ways to publish a second url on OSR and the Business Service never got attached to both urls.
So, de question is, is it possible to implement this solution? Where can I find some example? If it is not possible, Is there another way?
    Thanks.

Can you test back-end MTOM end point through a route node and see if its working? I doubt the issue has nothing to do with SC but with the MTOM end-point implementation.
non-MTOM endpoint received a MTOM message") error: hints that the service call out is sending a mtom message but the end-point is not accepting the message
