Hi,
Currently we have "SAP ERP Central Component 5.0 ides" system with us. Can we upgrade it to ECC 6.0 EHP4 ?
Main concern is can ides system be upgraded to higher versions?
I can see latest avaialable ides version is ECC 6.0 EHP4 ides but there are no upgrade DVDs available at service market place.

The IDES upgrade is not recommended and not supported by SAP. Reason being, IDES content contains many objects in the customer namespaces and the upgrade would certainly run into issues due to these. SAP Support also cannot be sought for, as the upgrade itself is not recommended. We have performed IDES upgrades, but encountered many issues during the procedure.

This states that standard SAP content delivery routes (SPs, EhPs, Upg exports) will not contain any IDES content, which is logical. The IDES content is not required by all customers needing SPs, EhPs or upgrades.

Hi Manu,
It is the way SAP has evolved over the years.. what was R/3 is now ECC.. after the 4.6 versions, it was Enterprise & now the ECCs..the latest version is ECC 6.0
Among other things, it basically consists of HR,Logistics,Financilas& a few Business Packages..Regarding BDCs, it is not set in stone that they cannot be used.. it is better to go in for BAPIs wherever possible.. but for some Transactions, BDC is still the only way.. PLease check the following <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/43/68805bb88f297ee10000000a422035/frameset.htm">SAP Release Notes</a> for info on ECC 6.0

When I am trying to make a change in SAP ERP Central Component 5.0, it is asking me for a access key so can anybody get me ECC 5.0 access key.

You dont have authorization for the user id you are useing.
SoGoto SU01.
Check the profiles tab in that you have SAP_NEW and SAP_ALL authorization.
OR
You can ask your basics person to give the access to your account

Installed or not?How to check whether these are installed or not?
and where can i Find in the system?

Kinldy make clear cut query before you look for an answer to that!
To check for the WAS-J2EE Stack installation - kindly use the following link to access your WAS j22 Start page "http://hostname:5XX00" where XX will be the System No. for SAP System.
Incase if you want to find out that you have a EP installed: goto:-
"http://hostname:5XX00/irj"
For XI , you can go to "http://hostname:5XX00/rep"
Incase the links work properly the software component is installed.
PREREQUISITE for the above CHECKS:
1) The system number should be correct.
2) The Fully qualified domain name should be used for the hostname.
3) The Software components and the J2EE Stack should be operational.
(ON the SAP SERVER)On OS level --> you can Go and have a look for the following directories existence --->
1) usr/sap/SID/DV*.../j2ee,
2) usr/sap/SID/DV*.../SDM
This means that you have atleast the Java Stack installed on your SAP Server.
Next in the task manager(WINDOWS) / process level(UNIX) you can check if you have process "jlaunch process under the sidadm owner".
In SAP Frontend-GUI :
You can login and go to T-Code ST11 and check for the log files
dev_disp, dev_dispatcher, dev_server0, dev_jcontrol, dev_bootstrapID.......,
these file will give you info regarding the J2ee stack and its components....

ERP 6.0 enhancement packages

I think I'm in the right forum here. It's the one that seems the most relevant.
We've got an ERP 6.0 system with support package stack 14. Stack 17 is going on as we speak - that's not an issue.
Over the next couple of weeks we've got to move to EHP4. I'm fully aware that this involves installing NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1. However I was also under the impression that to install EHP4 I'd have to first install EHP1, EHP2 and EHP3. I've searched high and low but I can't for the life of me find ERP 6.0 EHP1 for download in any guise whatsoever.
Am I just barking up the wrong tree here and going off some old documentation?
If you want any more information please feel free to ask - hopefully I've given enough information already though.
Anyone who attempts to remind me to give out points for helpful answers will not be getting any points :-P

Hi Rob,
EHP4 is cumulative EHP, which means that you do not need to install any previous EHPs before applying this. Also, EHP4 onwards is applied using SAP EHPI installer tool and not the regular SAINT transaction(as was the case for EHP1,2,3).
Please download the EHP4 installation guides from http://service.sap.com/erp-ehp. Here you will find links to the following guides:
The Must Know document and the Technical FAQ
The Technology Facts presentation and the new How to install EHP4 documentation
Please download these guides and go through them thoroughly before proceeding for EHP4 application. Everything you need to know and do is available in these guides. Related SAP Notes are also important so please read them also. They are listed in the installation guide n you will find them as you read it.

ask you basis team if one of the
clients on your ECC is prepared for the XI
(it has to be another client)
which is set in SXMB_ADM - integration engine config as a HUB
if it is you can access it with TCODE - SXBM_IFR

we are using SRM classic scenario with SRM version 7.0 & ECC 6 EHP 5.
PR with document type NB is updating on SRM successfully.
but when I try with service PR with item category "D" is not updating.
i have few query.
like.
by this scenario can we transfer PR with item category D with service line?
please suggest anyone .

Hi Partson,
It is needed to connect this system with solution manager and create stack.xml using
maintanance optimizer. The main aim of this is to let you know what usage types/ functionalities are to be
selected from stack.xml.
It is also needed to download all the required support packs/ addons using maintanance optimizer.
If you have DVDs containing the same product that matches with stack.xml, you can provide them.
But the safest way is is to give all the tasks to solution manager , It will create , and download neccesary sps, addons to your
download basket.

The [ERP Solution Browser|http://solutionbrowser.erp.sap.fmpmedia.com/] is an excellent tool to find out, what's new. However I did not find any means to get a list of new features in ERP 6.0 enhancement packages 2 and 3. Any hint (especially what's new in HCM) is welcome!

How active option "Enhancement Package Installation" in MOPZ

I want install EHP40 from Solution Manager. I read SAP Note 1122966 where it says "You want to import ERP 6.0 Enhancement Packages using the Maintenance Optimizer. The import is supported as of Solution Manager 4.0 Support Package 13."
The level of Support Package in my Solman is:

The option of installing Enhancement Packages in an ERP 6.0 system is only offered in the Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer if the systems assigned to the process are assigned to the product version ERP 6.0 or ERP 2005 in the Solution Manager system administration (transaction SMSY). The product version ECC 6.0 must not be used for the installation of Enhancement Packages. The attached Note 1022072 describes step by step how to change a product version assigned to a system.
