ERPi FDQM/ODI/DIM

Hi Planning Gurus,
I need to understand, is ERPi seperate comonent or it comes with FDQM/ODI/DIM?
Does it also work with ODI/DIM?
Regards
Kumar

You should have a look at the docs
Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management ERP Integration Adapter for Oracle Applications is a module of Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management, Fusion Edition that enables you to perform the following tasks:
Integrate metadata and data from an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) source system into an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) target application
Drill through from the EPM target application and view data in the ERP source system
Write-back budget data to the source system from any Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition, Oracle Essbase ASO, or Essbase BSO application.
The Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, Fusion Edition installs ERP Integrator. However, ERP Integrator relies on Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.6 as the engine that extracts data and metadata from the defined sources and then either populates the Performance Management Architect interface tables or populates the Classic applications with the extracted artifacts. Oracle Data Integrator must be installed and configured before ERP Integrator can be used.

  • Connecting ERPi with ODI Interface

    Hi Gurus,
Till now I was able to connect to Oracle EBS but, now my query is whether I can connect to ODI Interface through ERPi instead of connecting directly to EBS.
If its possible how can I achieve this please let me know I am eager to learn this.
    Thanks

If you are just wanting FDM to pull the source data from a table in a SQL Server database, you would need to write a SQL integration Script in FDM To pull data from the database table.  The FDM Administrator Guide has a simple example of this.

  • ODI Dim Build - Mapping Issue

I have an ODI interface where I'm building my Cost Center dimension in Hyperion Planning. Is there some special treatment of the mapping syntax when you have a dimension with a space in the name? I can get it working just fine if I rename the dimension to "Cost_Center" (with an underscore), however I have been unable to get it working if the dimension is "Cost Center".
I've tried using a quotes and brackets within the mapping without any luck. Hopefully someone has solved this before.
    Thanks!
    - Jake

    Hi Jake,
I had a look at changing a dimension to Cost Center and running an ODI interface to load from a file to planning, I didn't have any issues.
Where is the error occurring and what type of error is it.
Even though I renamed to the dimension to have spaces in the mapping the syntax is
    COST_CENTER."Account"
I am using the sunopsis memory engine as the staging area for the mappings.

  • Hyperion FDQM AND ODI

I DID SEARCH A LOT i just want to know when to use odi with fdqm and when to just use fdqm alone and why ? and can i configure source adapter into fdqm and how ? and does fdqm support importing flat files as source and if yes what its adapter ? i would appreciate if any one help me on that i searched a lot but looks like fdqm informations few on the net

    Hi ,
I could see the excruciating pain ,which you have been undergoing. Let me try to address few of the question ( out of many).
    1. ODI and FDQM , ODI can be assumed as a traditional ETL tool ( infact it is ELT), whereas FDQM is not, its more to do to uphold the sanctity of financial data. FOr more ODI information, John's blog is the best resource undoubtedly.
    2. "Just using FDQm", let me expalin this way - there is an HFM application and data needs to be loaded from 3 different georgraphies of their respective TB's ( Trial balances). These 3 different geographies have 3 different formats of TB's but nevertheless it needs to go into one single HFM application. Then , you would use FDQM to load the data into HFM application. This also answers your question that yes, flat files can be loaded . In our case, TB's might be in flat files as well.
    3. Adapters, if we intent to load data into Planning applicatino, we have seperate adapters, if we intent to load into HFM, then we have HFM adapters available. You can find this information in the 'readme ' docs of FDM
    4. As said earlier, FDM is not an ETL, its responsibility is to check the quality of financial data. Hence, the name ' Financial Data qualtiy management'. Now, the typical scenario in many of the implementations is that data if loaded directly from Oracle Apps or EBS ( in short ERP systems) into Hyperion applications. IN this case, we use FDM along with adapter called ERPi.
Now, if a finanial analyst looks at a number in one of the HFM data forms and realises that it cannot be true and doubts the quality of this financial data. Then, he can drill back from the very data form to the source EBS system with the help of FDM. This is one of the major advantages.
HOpe I have answered few of the questions.

    Hi,
I am using the classical metadata method. for creating the metadata rule file, i am adding the dimension using the FDM mapping.
As the mapping rule is running with extract id , but in ODI it is giving the error.
    org.apache.bsf.BSFException: exception from Jython:

com.hyperion.odi.common.ODIHAppException: Error occurred while loading driver.
Help me on the issue as, my objective is to extract the data from the ERP (EBS 12) through ERPI and load the data in the planning app through FDM.

  • FDQM installation

    Hi,
Is there any step by step guide for FDQM and ERPi (adapter) install.
I was reading through EPM installation n configuration guide and was surprised to see that "Oracle recommends to have a separate database instance for FDM".
Is this statement true.? Can't we just have a separate schema created for FDM on a database instance also being used for storing metadata for other EPM products?
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thank you!!

    Hi ,
    Thanks for reply John.
Hopefully just one more question for you.
I am doing the install on following 3 servers-
serverA_Windows2008Server - Weblogic, Planning, Shared services,EAS,APS, Calc Manager
    serverB_Windows2008Server - FDQM, ODI
    serverC_Solaris - Essbase
According to your post earlier ERPi is a web application. Does that mean ERPi can exist on a machine other than ODI (say server A)?
How will it interact with ODI in that case?
Also FDQM consists of following components -
    FDM
    --FDM Server
    --FDM Task Manager
    --FDM Load BAlancer
    --ERP Integrator
    ----ERPIntegrator WebApplication
    --FDM Web Application
    --FDM Workbench client
Is it ok to have FDM Web Application and ERPi Web Application on serverA and rest of the other FDM components on serverB ?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is possible I can have just once instance of weblogic on serverA ?
    Any pointers will be helpfull
    Thanks in Advance!!

  • Hyperion FDM and ERPi 11.1.2.2: ORA-12504 on Import with ERPI-FIN-E

    Hi everyone,
We are implementing Hyperion 11.1.2.2 FDM with HFM (Target Adapter = FM11X-G6-A) and ERPi (Source Adapter = ERPI-FIN-E) running on ODI 11.1.1.6. Backend databases are all Oracle DBs. We have been able to successfully configure ERPi and ODI & successfully run a Data Load Rule with all green checks in ODI Operator. We have also successfully tested the full FDM workflow with load to HFM using the traditional flat file method.
We have also setup an FDM Location and Import Format (File Type = Adapter; Adapter = ERPI-FIN-E) for use with the ERPI Source Adapter. When kicking off an Import either manually via FDM Web or via Batch Loader, we are getting a grey fish, Information Bar with "Error: Import failed. Invalid Data or Empty content", and pop-up error dialog displaying "ORA-12504: TNS: Listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA.
While previous versions of ERPi Source Adapter have the "ERPi Database Server/Service" option, ERPI-FIN-E does not have this option. Additionally, we have tested the TNSNames.ora files SID's with SQL Developer and SQL Plus and they all seem to be working.
Has the "ERPi Database Server/Service" option moved somewhere behind the scenes? Another options or DBLink that needs to be setup somewhere else? Any thoughts or assistance would help.
    Thank you.

  • Hyperion Planning as source to Oracle EBS

    Hi Experts ,
We are in to the situation to make Hyperion planning as source that feeds data to Oracle EBS . We have FDQM/ODI acting as a integration tool .
Now i have searched a lot to find information to use planning as source and couldn't find any .
Request you experts to provide me a base or idea to achieve the above scenario . ?
    Thanks
    Kenny

    Hello,
Unfortunately there is no prebuilt package that makes "Planning the source for OracleEBS". Right now the ERPi software you are looking at will only control budgetting information. You can review the current compliance of the software by doing a review of the documentation under the chapter "Data Write-back Rules".
If you are looking to source pure data from Planning into OracleEBS then a custom solution will need to be developed and maintained outside of the Hyperion software .... or built to plug into the Hyperion Software (like ODI).
    Thank you,

  • Linking existing Essbase Cube to Planning

My business team created an Essbase cube, and now they want us to link that cube to Planning.
I opened an SR and I was told the following:
    1. Ensure you have a test environment to create this new Planning app before moving to production.
    2. Create a new Planning app in the test environment with the same name as the production Essbase cube.
    3. Export all Essbase data.
    4. Copy over the outline to the new Essbase cube in the test env. You can copy over the rest of the Essbase objects as needed (calc scripts, report scripts, etc).
    5. Import the Essbase data into the new Essbase cube.
    6. refresh Planning
Everything went well except for Step 6. When I do the refresh from Planning, the Essbase Outline gets updated with the one from Planning which doesn't have anything since it was just created.
I need to refresh the Planning Outline with the the one from Essbase that does have the data the users have been working on.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You will have to define all the dimension membes etc to Planning. Because Essbase is the database, it will be updated with planning information... There are no shortcuts.. But you can export your dimension members from existing Essbase and load into planning using HAL/ODI/DIM..
Use outline extractor tool to get the existing dimensionality and create 1 metadata file per dimensions.
I believe Oracle support thought that you want to create a new Essbase cube from existing Planning cube.
    Cheers

  • Unable to access Planning 9.3.1 from Workspace & Metadata load question

    Hi:
I created a planning application through Classic View and was able to successfully register the app. I even updated the dimensions. I did all this using the Admin ID provided by a thrid party installation firm. They updated my security to match the Admin and when I re-log in to Workspace and click on the Planning app I just created there is an error message:
Unable to connect to Essbase server. Check log for detail.
I try using the Admin ID again but the same error message appear. IS anyone out there can give me some advice on what might went wrong and what should I ask them to check? They claim that all servers are up and running. I have tried to see if I can re-create another app but there is no data source available (is this because the Essbase connection problem or becuase one data source can only have one app associated with it?) Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated!
Also, they did not install BPMA. I have not done 9.3.1 before but I heard I can no longer use HAL to load metadata. So without BPMA, is my other options DIM and ODI? Has anyone use any of these and which is the best tool to load metadata? Is BPMA a better option compares to the DIM/ODI?
    Thanks so much!
    Mike

    Hi,
First I would check in shared services whether the correct access has been provisioned.
Next try and log in directly to planning and not through workspace to eliminate any issues there. http://<planning server:8300/HyperionPlanning/
Unable to connect to Essbase server sounds like either permissions are not correct or server details are incorrect, check the datasource details in the config utility and try and connect directly to essbase with them.
There will not be extra datasources available if they have not been set up, you will need to create these through the config utility on the server.
My experience of BPMA is that it is not up to being qualified as a fully stable product yet, all depends on the size of the implementation on how to you use it to whether BPMA will be useful, that leaves DIM and ODI, DIM is a third party product and is not cheap and I am not sure how much of a shelf life it will have, Oracle are pushing ODI which they now own, it is a much more stable product and has a many more rich features than BPMA though it does have a steeper learning curve and is more aimed at a technical audience.
    Hope this helps

  • Creating planning application

    hi,
Whats the difference in creating planning application via EPMA and classic planning application in version 11?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Are you asking the question what is the difference between EPMA and a classic application.
EPMA is a seperate component to planning and basically it is a GUI for managing hierarchies before pushing it into the planning application.
EPMA can manage metadata for other areas such as HFM or essbase.
Classic planning you can maintain the metadata directory in planning web or you can use other tools such as ODI, DIM or the outline loader.
All the other elements of planning are managed in the same way.
If you want to find out in more detail I suggest having a read of the planning admin guide which can be found here
    Cheers

  • FDM Drill to EBS gets wrong Set of Books

    Hi,
We just installed Planning, FDM, ERPI, and ODI. I am testing the drill through from FDM to Oracle EBS. I start in FDM and click on Open Source System. That takes me to ERPI where I click on the amount. Oracle EBS launches in and asks for my User ID and Password. I fill them in and the Account Analysis and Drilldown workflow page is displayed. The set of books is already filled in, but is incorrect and can not be changed.
Since I didn't have to pick an Oracle EBS Responsibility it must be passed from ERPI. The set of books related to the source system for the FDM application I am in is 1 but the set of books displayed is 21. Where do I look to find out why the set of books and/or EBS Responsibility is not being passed correcly from ERPI to Oracle EBS?
    Thanks,
    Glen

    Hello,
I did have the same problem. Don't set default values. Then try to compile again. If you still have a problem I would suggest to look at the sequence of the segments, it should be 1,2,3. Also maybe your flex value sets for those segments are not set correctly.
First I would try without the default values.
    I hope it helps.
