Hello,
I am trying to update iPhone 3G from version 4.2.1 to 4.3.3 via iTunes. But after download at the "processing file" section a get an error message "err = -3259".
Please can anybody help...

Ive tried to update my 3G Ipod Touch with the new iOS 4.3.5, but when the download is on the last 0.1 MB it says ive lost connection, when I havent. The simple solution is to temporarily disable anti-virus and firewall software during the update process. Why would you not want to do that? Any threat is non-existent.
Depending on your anti-virus & firewall software it may be possible to make exceptions for certain programs like iTunes and certain ports used during the update. This, however, is more trouble than it is worth.

I have Iphone4 Factory-unlock from Etisalat (Dubai-UAE) and when trying to upgrade my IOS to 4.3.3 it always gives me error -3259 (err=-3259), any help. (F.I: My current IOS4.3 and Itunes 10.2 are all orginal from Apple)

As mentioned, i bought this phone from Etisalat (Dubai-UAE based operator) and i never face a issue perviously on updating an IOS, this time after downloading IOS 4.3.3 I always get a error (it says Network issue) with Number Err= -3259 and never lets me update the IOS on my Iphone 4. My Iphone is completly original (Meaning, not jail breaked) and its using Itunes 10.2.2. The reason i want to update is becuase after updating the current installed IOS (4.3.2) the battery life is really bad and when i want to restore my Iphone4, it wants to download the updated IOS software (4.3.3) and when trying to update its gives me error all the time and does not let me update or install it.
Any help and update on how to fix this issue.

But TODAY I tried it updating my iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 through MY HOME PC Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit after downloading iTune 10.5 & Guys good news is that I UPDATED my iPhone 4..... The plus point of using my windows 7 ultimate PC, even i got the same error twice or thrice but I REUME ALL & then I got the result. I don't know what was the problem updating with my MacBook Pro but FINALLY I SUCCEDED:-) ENJOY GUYS

Itunes podcast downloading error (err = -3259)

Hello,
I am using itunes with my IPOD since 2 years. all fine so far. Now, since a few weeks, some podcasts don`t get downloaded anymore. I always receive the error message (err = -3259) and thats it. Does anyone else have the same problem? I also tried a different timing and deleted the podcast and renewed it from itunes, but no change. I am already desperate.... and want to have the content updated for sure.

I've been having the same problem for about two weeks now. Before then, I had no problem downloading multiple podcasts. Now, only one downloads fine while all the rest time out. What is really odd is that they are all about the same size (even the one that I can download successfully). I've been searching for a solution online, but to no avail. I even disabled Norton and Windows' firewall, but that did not help at all. Completely frustrating...

You'll have to check your security software settings, iTunes has to be able to connect to Apple servers during the download process.

I have downloaded ios5 several times. I get an error message at the end, it says that software hasn't downloaded, (err -3259) and says I have to try downloading it again. Why is it doing this? I just want to download ios5. Is this happening to me because my laptop is a PC?

I keep getting Err = -3259

I have spent 2 days on the phone with Apple Support, although they are nice and located in the US they cannot solve my problem. I have been trying to update my Verizon iPhone 4 for over a week and each time I do I get Err = -3259 (timed out). I have unistalled all of my Apple software from my computer and reinstalled. I have also uninstalled my McAfee Total Protection prior to installing and still get the same error. Anyone know how to resolve this issue?

I have a quick wifi connection (Mac shows it as about 35 megabits) but I couldn't get the 5.0.1 OTA to work, I had to do it via cable to my computer's iTunes - and as I was already on iOS 5 it was only a small download, basically the same size as the OTA size.
As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option.

Try downloading the update separately, and then installing it from iTunes.

got to settings, general and under about you will see the new Software update option...click download...i work at a school with a firewall and it seems to always stop my computer from downloading it...i get the err=-3259, i usually just wait til i am away from work to download it....or just use the likewise software to get me into the domain and log in on my ipod touch 3g and use the Software updates option....
