Erratic behaviour of the keyboard of a Satellite R830

I cannot use my portatil for writting because the keyboard has an erratic behavior. When you are wrinting it jumps to different positions in the line.
Probably it can be solved installing drivers again, but I not an expert, so someone can help about this matter.
BR,

I agree with MisterX. In the past we had several threads with the same description.
After disabling touchpad everything was OK. you can do it fast using FN+F9 key combination.
When you need your touchpad again use the same key combination to enable touchpad again.

  • Erratic behaviour of my keyboard after updating the last yosemite version.

    Hi everyone
This morning I updated my OS X yosemite and a quiet annoying surprise is happening on my keyboard.
Previously before I update the OS X to type the @ i used alt plus 2 and now i can't even write the plus icon.
I would like to restore my keyboard configuration as it always been.
    Thanks in advance.

It's not to do with ios 7. you need to go to the app store on your phone and download the new FREE app for "PAGES" & same for Numbers & Keynote. They do not come preloaded on the iphone. The bottom of this page shows all the free Apple Aps you can download -    https://www.apple.com/ca/iphone-5s/built-in-apps/        starting with iPhoto etc.

  • Keyframe erratic behaviour

After (clean) installing Final Cut Studio 2 and running all software upgrades, opening old projects - which are format converted - I get erratic behaviour in the windows displaying keyframes, involving both audio and motion tags.
For instance, audio channel 1 is displayed as usual, channel 2 with a black background. Or the playhead fails to snap to the keyframe when I click the arrows and the line crossing the audio channel is no more displayed. Sometimes I get confusing double rubberband display.
With projects created after the new installation, on the contrary, I notice that everything works fine.
Someone had the same problem and can suggest any solution?

try exporting the projects as XML files (version 4)
then import the XMLs back into FCP into new projects.
    see if that helps

  • Broken keyboard buttons on Satellite 3000-100

Hello, I have a problem with the keyboard of my Satellite Notebook. Some keys are broken and I want to replace them, but it's really hard. Now I want to change the entire keyboard, but I don't know, how to do this.
Do I have to call a technician of Toshiba or can I change it myself?
I'm sorry for my bad english ;)
    Thanks, Luca

    Hi
    > Do I have to call a technician of Toshiba or can I change it myself?
Usually you should always contact the notebook technicians for such jobs. I mean there is a tiny risk that you could damage some other parts.
At the other hand if you have good notebook experience you could also replace such keyboard.
What you need is a compatible keyboard.
This could be ordered from the Toshiba ASP in your country.
The keyboard is secured with 4 screws which are hidden under the plastic cover.
Pull the right side on the strip cover and lift it up. But be careful due to the cable on the right side. Then release the cable gently from the connector on the strip cover assembly, then lift the strip cover out.
Remove four keyboard screws that secure the keyboard and then slide the keyboard backward until the keyboard cable is pulled out from under the logic upper.
Then disconnect the keyboard connector and the second connector from the VGA board and lift the keyboard up and out.
The procedure is not difficult for someone who has already disassembled a notebook. But again; if you dont have the needed experience then dont do it and ask an technician for the help.
    Bye

  • Some keyboard keys of Satellite A660-11M don't work

    hi,
the keyboard of my Satellite A660-11M is not working properly. Some keys won't type, others would type the wrong letter/number.
Does replacing the keyboard usually fix the problem? Are keyboards available for this model?
By the way, juice was accidentally spilled on it weeks ago, so i assume it's the cause of the problem.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi
Yes, possibly the issue is related to the spilled juice.
I think only the keyboard replacement could help you
The new keyboard can be ordered from a Toshiba ASP in your country.
Here you can find all ASP worldwide:

  • Illuminated keyboard - erratic behaviour

Getting some strange behaviour from the illuminated keyboard, anyone else experiencign this? Disappointed as this is a really useful feature (and also this is my first Mac).
Yes I have System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Illuminate Keyboard in Low Light conditions ticked
    * firtly a question - frequently I would like the keyboard illuminated but it isn't. Pressing the F10 key shows the icon greyed out with a 'no entry' sign below it. Presumably this means the MBP believes illumination is not necessary and it is disabled. Well sometimes it's wrong. Is there a way to override this? ie force keybpard illumination to turn on when the MBP has tuned it off?
    * ok secondly when in low light the behaviour is very erratic:
Frequently when in low light condition - and I mean I room lit by lamps at night time, when it's hard to see the unilluminated keys clearly, the keyboard does not illuminate and the no entry sign is shown on hitting F10.
Taking the MBP into a completely dark room does cause illumination to start, then on returning to the first room illumination continues. (So if it's low enough not to turn it off, why wasn't it low enough to turn it on?).
As I write this I am in a low light room. The keyboard has been through several immumination cycles (on / off) with no itervention from me.
When illuminated the keyboard is set fairly bright (by me) - actually I have it set at 100%. Covering the speakers with my hands actually causes the keyboard to dim to nearly off, removing hands from speakers causes illumination to strengthen again. Reading elsewhere this is contracry to what I would expect, as the sensors are beneath the speaker grills.
As I jusy typed the last sentence the illumination was fluctuating every few seconds. Very disconcerting.n All the way from 100% down to 0% then back to maybe 60%.
Anyone else experiencing this? I'm hoping for a quick fix as I like this machine!
    Thanks.
    MacBookPro 2GHx 2Gb   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

OK I understand this a bit better now.
The keyboard illumination on my MBP is not broken, but I think it is badly executed.
    * it's dumb that the on/off can't be manually overloaded. really dumb.
    * the 'rapidly cycling' effect is caused by my shadow falling across the keyboard. I have an uplighter on the wall behind me, I consider with that switched on the room is still in low light (it's at about the limit where I could comfortably read a book, any dimmer and I wouldn't - that's not enough to see the keys well - I have good eyes). Anyway the MBP doesn't consider this dim enough to activate the immumination. It's wrong but I guess I have to live with it.
    * my (feint, because we are in feint light) shadow falling across the speakers is enough to activate the illumination. This is as simple as me moving my shoulders a little, or my hands around the keyboard. I move again and it turns off. Because the illumination activates and deactivates very quickly this causes a flashing effect. Bloody annoying!
    So IMHO
    * would be great to manually override the automatic behaviour
    * the activation threshold is set too low, for me, lower light levels than I could confortably read paper (and it's not unusual to work on a computer and paper simultaneously)
    * once activated, the sensitivity and speed for deactivation should be reduced considerably.
Seems this feature is more a toy than a carefully considered piece of engineering. Shame, it's one of the reasons I bought my Mac. ho hum guess I should have tested with my buddy's first.

  • Satellite Pro A300D - What is the model number for the keyboard?

My husband managed to dislodge a keycap on my keyboard, and broke the white scissor clip that holds hit on...(don't ask me how)
He spoke to the authorised service centre here in Norway, and they sent us replacement scissor clips (actually they sent an old non-functioning keyboard) but the clips are of a different design to the ones on my laptop.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the model/serial number of the keyboard used in the Satellite Pro A300D-151 (PSAK9E) so I can get the correct replacement part.
I really don't want to have to replace the whole keyboard when it's just 1 of the scissor clips that is broken...the laptop is only 5 months old.
Here are some photos of the scissor clip in question & the where it attaches to the keyboard (sorry about the quality)

    notsure

    Hi
Sorry buddy but its not possible to exchange some single keys on a keyboard so in this case you must replace the complete keyboard. But normally this should not be so difficult.
Either you exchange the keyboard yourself or you sent the notebook to the authorized service provider.
The model number for the keyboard is not known to me but contact your ASP!! They can order all Toshiba parts and they should know the right part number.

  • Satellite P300 - is there a backlight for the keyboard?

Hi - does anyone know if the Satellite P300 has a back light for the keyboard? I am assuming it does as the keys are shiny black but cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it on. Any assistance is appreciated.

As far as I know illuminated keyboard will be offered with new notebook series A500 and P500.
I am 100% sure Satellite P300 has not such keyboard.
You can check specifications for different Satellite /Satellite pro P300 models and you will see that nowhere is mentioned such keyboard.

  • Satellite NB10-A-10N - How do I enter special symbols with the keyboard?

Unfortunately my Toshiba NB10-A-10N doesn't have an integrated numeric keyboard which would be useful to enter signs/symbols by alt plus the appropiate number.
How can I anyway, using my normal german keyboard assignment, enter for instance: (without switsching the keyboard to spanish assignment)?
    Is there any way?

If you have notebook offered on German market you will get it with Windows on German language and German keyboard layout.
Of course you can change keyboard input language and set it to Spanish.
Open control panel > Region and Language > keyboard and language.
If you want to use Spanish language only remove all installed services and add Spanish only.
You can also use Spanish and German but set Spanish as default input language. It is your choice.

I have a L100 that has been 'watered'.... don't ask...
How do you remove the keyboard.. any ideas please

    Hi
Silas is right. The keyboard is secured with 2 screws which must be removed.
These screws are hidden under the thin cover near to the keyboard.
Please be careful! The keyboard is connected to the motherboard with the flat cable!
I dont know your notebook experience but if you dont know how to do it I would recommend contacting the technician for a help!

  • Satellite A300D-126 the keyboard is not working at all

I reinstalled the driver but it's still not working. What could the problem be? Help plz. Thanks

    Hi
    Whats wrong exactly?
    You have reinstalled the drivers???
    What drivers do you mean?
The keyboard driver is a part of the Windows OS and it cannot be reinstalled separately.
If your keyboard doesnt work properly then either the software doesnt run as it should or the hardware (keyboard) is faulty.
You could try to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba HDD recovery to check if the issue is related to the software.
If the keyboard will not work after this procedure, then an hardware issue could be possible.

  • Strange keyboard issues on Satellite M40

My Toshiba M40 has been giving me keyboard problems quite frequently. I get funny characters like NB¬A
when I press the left Shift key and then the keyboard starts behaving abnormally:
    1. it shifts to caps mode -- to type lower letters, I have to actually use caps lock.
    2. I can't use the shift key to type in the special characters above the numerals.
    3. clicking on the menu bar gives me a different effect as if the shift key is already pressed while it is not.
    4. pressing the right shift key takes me to the 'save' option.
    5. I can't select one file or folder as several of them selected at one time.
And then I give up, shut down the computer (it doesnt restart at this time)
After some time, the computer starts normally but I am never sure when it will start misbehaving again.
I read about bios update, so got mine updated to the 1.7 version from toshiba website (this is the latest one they had for machines with ATI graphics).
sometimes, i use an external keyboard when the problem occurs repeatedly.
would appreciate advice on how to overcome this software / hardware problem.

    Hi Ashok,
It is not easy to say what is causing this strange behaviour, especially since it also occurs with an external keyboard. One clue is that the notebook will not restart after you shut it down unless you leave it for a short while. This would suggest that the unit is overheating and this may well be affecting the unit causing your problems.
I suggest you try giving the notebook a good clean to remove any build up of dust and debris from the CPU heatsink.
    regards,

  • Why can't we replace the WLAN card on Satellite L670?

    Hi,
I'm using a Sattelite L670-143 PSK3EE which comes with a default Atheros AR9285 wireless network adapter.
I've tried replacing this one with the 5Ghz Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230, which has a 2pin connection too.
Unfortunatelly, the card is being properly recognised by Windows7 but for some reason it has no signal.
Running inSSIDer, there is no single surrounding device found, while even my own router is advertising at the 5GHz band, and the taskbar icon tells me the Intel is the Wifi network but it always states that Wifi is switched off.
Trying to turn on/off thhe wireless network by using the special FN+F8 key combination, I am unable to switch it on.
Please has anyone succesfully installed a third party network adapter in a Sattelite ? Is Toshiba blocking any but the default wireless adapters ? and/or how can we make them to operate next to only being properly detected by Windows but unable to switch the signal on ?
    Thank you for any help.

ok, i hope you know how yo get to your wifi card inside your laptop, i try to explain as best as possible to show which pin in your new wifi card has to be taped off, so it cannot get signal (Hardware Radio Off) from the bios.
Pin layout can be different for other wifi cards, so i can only show the pin the tape off for this specific card.
My laptop = Satellite L670-140 (in this model the wifi card is underneath the keyboard, follow steps 5,6,7 from this site to unscrew it.
Wifi Card used = Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (2pin antenna like the default Atheros one)
    * Before replacing, make sure laptop is properly shut off, disconnected from mains, and battery removed.
    * Also make sure you have your proper driver for your card downloaded beforehand, since you most probably will need it before being able to connect to the internet.
    * Also, write down the new card's MAC address. (most probably you'll find it on a little sticker on the wifi card)
Here are 2 screenshots showing which pin to tape off for disallowing the BIOS from Hardware Blocking the radio signal.
Front & Back of the wifi card : http://i.imgur.com/96D5q.jpg
Screenshot show which pin to tape off : http://imgur.com/TZiQv
So, as you position your wifi as seen on the last screenshot, it's the 2nd pin from the right, on the largest pin row.
make sure only this specific pin is taped off, and no others, and make sure the tape strip does not come loose once you put the new wifi inside its slot.
    - After replacing, it's only a matter of starting up, letting the new card get properly recognized by windows.
    - I installed the wifi driver from Intel just in case, don't know if it's actually needed, most probably Windows will install all you need by default once the card is being detected.
    - After that, i had to power down the laptop, switch off the router for 1 minute, switch back on router & switch on laptop. (doing the correct software steps to set up an internet connection with the card may be needed.)
If your router is configured to only allow specific MAC addresses from connecting, then simply configure your router to allow this card's mac address.
BTW: If your laptop has a "software way" of switching ON/OFF the radio signal ( FN+F8 keycombination in my case), you can still switch ON/OFF the card as you which, as long as the card does not get "Hardware Blocked" which should be corrected if you properly taped of the pin shown.
I'm sorry if i'm not sounding that clear, i'll try helping as best as i know/can.

I don't know about a keyboard shortcut, but if it is the default behaviour of the system you want to change when inserting a disc you can change it in System Preferences > CDs & DVDs.
