Erratic HP Control Zone Behaviour

I Recently purchased the laptop about 3 Weeks ago, and I began to notice the Synaptic HP Control Zone mouse would behave erraticly after some time. A reset of the device driver seems to fix it but the problem returns again when some time passes.
Everything seems to be upto date and the Control zone works with multitouch and normal use but this unsual and erratic behaviour that occurs quite often has become quite irritating. I've resorted to disabling the Control Zone and I am currently using an external wireless mice I purchased with the laptop.
Driver:
HP Control Zone - V18.1.7.8

Any help would be greatly Appreciated

I recently bought an HP Envy as well and I have multitutde of problems with the Control Zone.  The only solution is whenever it happens I have to use the touchscreen to get to "HP Control Zone Settings" and do a "Reset Devices".
Has anyone found a permanent fix for this?

  • Hp control zone trackpad incredibly glitchy

Hi. I recently bough an HP Envy m6-n012dx laptop. Not long after using it the Control Zone Trackpad began to be incredibly glitchy. Everytime i would move the mouse, it would jump randomly across the screen. The left side of the track pad that is supposed to allow you to switch between your open apps sometimes stops working then starts to work again then would stop working for no reason. Same with the right side that shows the start button, search button, settings button etc. To make things worse; sometimes the mouse would begin to move slowly across the screen without me even touching the track pad. I try downloading the most recent synaptics driver and afterwards the trackpad worked for a little while, then went haywire again. Not only is the trackpad messed up but sometimes my touch screen doesnt work. For instance, my touch screen currently isnt working as im typing this. What do i have to do to solve the problem, because i really like this laptop when everything is working fine

Attention, HP Support Agents. I have the same model HP Envy m6-n012dx laptop that I purchased less than 2 weeks ago from Best Buy and I'm experiencing the same issues. I've performed a hard reset of the laptop, a system restore to the day I purchased it, updated synaptics drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, BIOS update, changed sensitivity settings on touchpad - but it all leads to the same result. The cursor jumps around and behaves erratically on the screen, even if you reboot it and start using it again, after about 15-20 minutes (or sooner) it starts acting up again.  What is the solution or verdict on this issue, as it's easy to see that there are literally hundreds of consumers that have purchased HP Envy laptops with a Control Zone touchpad from Synaptics having this exact same issue? Is there a way that someone at HP can grab one of their laptops, recreate the issue, troubleshoot and provide a solution for it?? I'm sure I echo the same sentiment as most of these other forum subscribers when I say that I feel like I'm wasting my time here. I'm asking for help and either getting an auto-response "update your drivers" answer, or not receiving help at all. I'm NOT purchasing a mouse as an alternative solution. Either there's a fix for this, or I'll return my laptop to Best Buy, as I'm still within their 15-day return policy window, and purchase an ASUS or DELL Laptop instead. I've never experienced such a huge annoyance with an HP product as this and from what I've seen on all of my forum searches, HP has no solution for it. I've also spoken with HP Total Care, and guess what their solution was? Take it back to Best Buy and get a replacement HP Envy .... seriously?  Please provide an update as soon as possible. This has gone on long enough.

  • HP Control Zone and Windows 10

I have the exact same issue with the trackpad. Laptop: HP Envy TS15 - q006tx Now that my laptop is oerating on Windows 10, is there anyway to reassign the old swipe functionalities of the control zone? Back in Windows  8.1, swiping the left side of the trackpad used to swap between apps and swiping on the right used to bring up charms. These features are now obsolete, so really I hope that I can replace them with something else, or at least in a future driver patch if not today.

Two issues I am having with the Windows 10 upgrade: First, I use a wireless mouse, since my computer is primarily for graduate school and typing papers. I have the setting via the Control Zone to turn OFF the touchpad when an external pointing device is in use. This setting will NOT stay. I have to re-open the control panel, navigate to the device options, and turn this on EVERY time I start my computer. Is there  a patch to fix this? Or is there a registry item I can change to force this setting to remain on? I never want the touchpad operational if I am using  a USB mouse (or any USB or external pointing device). I cannot find this answer on any search. Second is the NumLock. I had changed the registry item to force NumLock to be "On" on boot. I cannot get the computer to boot with NumLock on with Windows 10. This is incredibly important for my startup process. Thank you in advance for any advice/solutions!

  • HP ENVY CONTROL ZONE HELP!!

This thread is another try to see if HP wants to help us after many of us unsuccesfully tried to get help posting on this other hp thread And HP just ignored us... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/hp-control-zone-trackpad-incredibly-glitchy/td-p/4073164 The track pad is really bad and glitchy..the cursor jumps around and it becomes unusable. Some users have sent their laptops for repair with the HP warranty and after receiving it back problems with the trackpad arise again. Whether it is a hardware or software issue theres no reason why we, the users who paid over $600 dollars for a product, shouls be struggling with something as basic as a touchpad...HP, we need answers...

But where have you or anyone else posted that you did do that?Show me where you stated that you disabled those features, thought it wasfixed and then came to find that it wasn't fixed. And by the way; watching someone else's discomfort should not ever be "hillarious". You seem to be talking about a different issue than what most of us are talking about. You were having problems with "Sensitivity" of the touchpad, which can be controlled in the touchpad settings. Most touchpads have a setting called "PalmCheck" or something similar.   The problem the rest of us are experiencing happens when we use the touchpad to control the mouse. The touchpad becomes very glitchy, not within our control  and eventually the mouse starts moving across the screen without our hands even touching the touchpad. We have tried, disabling all the features you mentioned above, that does not solve this problem.

  • 10.8.4 - Motion 5 - Completely Erratic OSC Controls

    HI...
In creating FCPx Templates I have always (Prior to 10.8.4) any Plug with OSC-Controls to control other parameters like Position, via Link.
I have used this routine since the dawn of FCPx.
Now with this latest version of OS X Mountain Lion - Motion has become useless. I can open the old templates and use them and the OSC controls act as they should. But creating any new ones makes the experience highly erratic.
After linkage - When moving the OSC just an inch it will fly off the screen by about 40000 (fourty thousand) pixels. And there is no way of fixing this.
I am linking the exact same way that I did the past years. And now this.
If anyone has any idea why this is happening all of a sudden, I would REALLY like to know...
    Thanks

Make sure the Group that the OSCs are in are 2D with Fixed Resolution. If this is the problem, then also make sure that once you set Fixed Resolution, that you also go back and reset the Center position of the OSC and temporarily turn off the Link parameters for the object under control and reset its position as well. Then turn the Link param behaviors back on.
Also make sure that the OSC or the Group containing the OSCs are the full duration of the project (Inspector > Properties > Timing) or the OSC will not work (or even show up) in FCPX.

  • HP envy 15 Control Zone Trackpad failure

    Hi
I purchased an HP envy 15 q178ca. After using it for a few hours the track pad started giving problems. However, after resetting the trackpad everything works fine. The problem keeps coming every 40 minutes or so. Such kind of behaviour is not expected from a reputed brand like HP especially when there have been so many complaints in this forum regarding the same.
I request you to provide some update or patch to fix this problem.
    Thanks

  • Erratic date control / bug in LabVIEW?

System: LabVIEW 6.0.2, Windows 2000 or NT4, Norwegian or Danish regional settings (have not tested others).
I have an application (made and built in LabVIEW 6.0.2) where a numeric control with time format is used to select a date...This works fine on 90% of the PCs it is run on...however on some the numeric control has a will on its own...when you enter 10.05.2001 it changes its value to 05.10.2001...and reverse...if you enter 2002 it might change to 2020..11.03 might be changed to 01.03 etc. There is no code writing to a local of the control or anything like that ...the problem seems to be a bug with the control itself.
I have tried to figure out what could cause this...and it seems that if you choose the date format to be s
ystem date you can turn on the problem...This could make sense if the control did not accept too high month numbers in the day input and then to tried to guess the intended input switched the two around...but that is not the case...
Now - is there some regional option or other that can be adjusted to get rid of this...or do I have too build the application again with the control set to use custom format?
    MTO

Sorry, I guess I didn't understand the problem correctly. It seems that if you enter the date in a format that is different then what LV is expecting then it tries to fit it the best it can. For example on my computer if I enter the year in 4 digits (2002) and its expecting 2 digits LV will just cut off the last two leaving 20 (obviously not what I wanted). I'm not sure why it would change a valid date that you typed in though, maybe you did find a bug. I would try to narrow the problem down by seeing if the problem is linked to certain regional settings that are set on the problem pc and not on the ones it works on. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • Controlling tab behaviour for SelectInputText

We are using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 with ADF
With SelectInputText a flashlight icon is displayed to call the LOV. When the cursor is in the SelectInputText field and the user presses tab button the focus is set on the flashlight. Our users donot like the focus on the flashlight, and instead they would like to move from field to field. They prefer to press a shortcut key to call the LOV.
How can I change the behaviour so that the cursor focus is not set on the flashlight? Thanks.

    Hi,
this can only be done through JavaScript in that you register an onFocus event on the icon. The event then sets the next navigable item into focus. If you have a look at the generated HTML, you can see how the icon ID is defined. Use this in a document.getElementById() call to obtain a handle and add the JS event listener

  • Powerbook G4. Erratic keyboard and mouse behaviour!

    Hello
Had my Powerbook G4 for about 4 years now.
Recently the keyboard and trackpad have started behaving erratically. Sometimes the space bar doesn't work, sometimes it's the return key, sometimes the whole top line of the qwerty keyboard, sometimes all of these at once which makes the.
Often the mouse is frozen in the top left-hand corner of the finder page on start-up. Rebooting MANY times in a row very occasionally helps but generally doesn't.
I haven't spilt anything or dropped it. I'm guessing it's a software issue as it happens erratically.
I regularly repair disk permissions after every update. I run ClamX weekly and my virus count is zero.
Have tried resetting by pressing Ctrl, shift, option (alt) and holding on/off key for 10 secs but that doesn't seem to work, just ends up res-setting my clock!
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    All contributions welcome...
    Many thanks
    Helen

Sorry, keyboard went a bit funny!
Meant to say that when they all go at once, it is extremely frustrating!!
    Many thanks.

  • Controlling WDJ behaviour based on the Calling Application - Any Idea?

    Hi Folks,
I have crated <u>two applications</u> to call the <u>one WDJ program</u>.. So that based on the calling application i need to change the behavior of the WDJ program.. that is displlay and not to display few UI elements based on the calling application..
Can sone one pelase help me in this regards
    Thanks in advance,
    Srini.

    Hi Srinivas,
    please, follow these steps:
    1) in the url of your application send a parameter (e.g. 'a' for application 1 and 'b' for application 2).
    2) Into web dynpro create an inbound Plugs(Open your Interface View -> Plugs) as:
    Name : Default
    Event Handler: onPlugDefault
    Startup: yes
This plug will read the value you sent in the URL.
    3) Assign to it a parameter in the Parameters Area, i.e. "param1" type string
    4) In the View you can capture the parameter value in the URL in the wdDoInit method, using this code:
    String par1 = WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter().getRequestParameter("param1");
    5) Note that in the View you must add the interface (Properties -> Required Controllers)
That's all. Hoper this help you.
    Regards,
    Vito

  • Controlling flash behaviour

This post is just an informative post about how flash saves its settings and how some sites misuse it.
Well, like many other people i was having trouble with adobe flash player's hardware acceleration, similar to one mentioned here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/22878
So, i disabled it in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg and even by right clicking a flash element -> settings and unchecking enable hardware acceleration. But for some reason it used to get re-enabled. Then i realized that i was using bleachbit and it was clearing all contents of ~/.macromedia.
Now there's a file called settings.sol stored at
    ~/.macromedia/Flash_Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/settings.sol
This file stores flash settings such as the cache, hardware acceleration, allow camera and microphone for specific sites etc.
I wanted to prevent bleachbit from deleting settings.sol, but delete every other crap that's present in ~/.macromedia. One way was to edit bleachbit's cleaner for flash, but i didn't want to go that route, as i considered it less ideal. So, i set the immutable attribute to settings.sol by using
    # chattr +i settings.sol
Now bleachbit couldn't delete this particular file, but did delete the rest of ~/.macromedia. This solved the above problem for me.
Later on after a browsing session i ran bleachbit, and found a file settings.sxx in bleachbit's log. I was sure i had never seen this file before, so i googled for it.
Seems like some sites change your settings.sol file without your permission, but if this file is set to read-only (which isn't by default), then they write to the file settings.sxx. And i suppose it is used for tracking purposes.
So i created an empty file settings.sxx aside settings.sol, and set it to read-only. So, i hope now i am sufficiently safe from flash based tracking.
I hope this post helps other people realize the problems that flash poses before us.
Please note that i am not overly paranoid, but i dislike sites doing stuff behind my back, especially on my computer.

  • Control zone touchpad issue

Hello All, Just wanting to add to this thread. I also suffer from the same problem with my touchpad.  Tried all the same fixes. Usually I just reboot. It works roughly every other time for a while then it starts up again, leading to another reboot. I have not contacted HP as I find all of your experiences disheartening. This may be my last HP product as a result. Frustrating. I have had this 1200.00 notebook for three months. Unacceptable.

Hi ,  I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details. If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

  • How to Control the Dynamic Pegging Behaviour in CDP

    Dear All,
We are using Characteristic Dependent Planning (CDP) to plan configurable materials.
The requirement is to control the behaviour of Dynamic Pegging of a dependent requirement to receipt. We are using MTS strategy.
    The BOM is P2 -
    > P1.
Now P1 and P2 have characteristics called Length, WIdth, Grade, etc. The normal CDP based pegging considers all the characteristics and tries to match them. However we wish to peg only based on Grade and WIdth (the characteristic Length is not pegging relevant but only for information). We cannot make Length as APO non relevant.
We have already modified the heuristic such that it doesnt consider length in netting off.
Is there any way we can modify the pegging behaviour through some development?

    Hi,
We had a compareable business requirement and it has been modelled using public method /SAPAPO/IF_EX_RRP_PLANNING~PEGID_GET_IO (Change the Receipts and Reqs After Reading from liveCache) from BAdI Interface /SAPAPO/IF_EX_RRP_PLANNING
The heuristic calls up the method after it has read the requirements and receipts in SAP liveCache, and has determined the virtual safety stock requirements based on the settings in the planning version and in the location product master.
We basically implemented the following steps:
Get non-pegging relevant characteristics (using a spec table nammed i.e. zpp_npeg_chars)
Get internal numbers of non-pegging relevant characteristics (collecting entries from cabn)
Remove values of non-pegging relevant characteristics (deleting in table CT_CHARACT_REQ = Table with Characteristic Requirements)
You can also influence CDP propagation by using method /SAPAPO/IF_EX_RRP_PLANNING~RECEIPTS_SAVE (Change the Planning Results) from same BAdI Interface.
    Hoping this help.
    BR,
    Pascal.
