  • Error during building

    hello,
i am trying to burn a dvd from idvd using professional encoding. twice at the end of burning (4 hours later) i get a message saying there has been an error during building (multiplexing?) i burned the same idvd project using high encoding and everything seemed to work ok. i want to try the pro encoding to see if there is a difference in quality.
another question... my project is in widescreen and looks great on my computer but in my dvd player, on my tv it's a bit stretched. why would this happen and can i fix or avoid it?
    thanks for any advice

    Hi
Multiplex error is a very complex problem due to many things (long long list following) - on common but not obvious reason is that material on the iDVD menu goes outside the TV-Safe area (or just touching it).
So first - turn on TV-Safe area and move any object well inside of this.
Wide screen stretched - usually (as I think) it is due to making a 4x3 movie in a 16x9 wide-screen project OR the other way around. This forces one to on flat-screen TV (or other) set the presenting view right - My has 4x3, wide-screen, zoom and auto-wide-screen and I have to switch this by my remote for some DVD I've made "wrong" way.
Now my long long list on Multiplex Error

    PART One.
Use of strange video/audio material eg .avi, .wmv, .mp3 etc.
    I only use.
Video - StreamingDV (miniDV tape via FireWire) and
Audio = .aiff (as on audio-CDs) (else converted to this .aff 48KHz)
    Chapters !
    A.    Using strange letters in video project name eg +,/; etc. keep to a-z and 0-9 strange letters in project name eg +
as described by Donnyboy69.  Does the title of your project have any symbols or decimal points in it. If so, that is why you are getting the error. I had a project that had a + sign which caused the same problem. I renamed it without the symbol and low and behold, it worked.
    B.    Location of Chapters
    • Can’t be at start or end of movie (Skip first/start one - iDVD sets this by it self. At the End - no need)
    • Not in a transition (or within 2-3 seconds from it)
Important when from iMovie HD6 or previous - Now also observed when using FCE 4

Simply remember to add subtitles to your Quicktime files and menu buttons.
Once I did that, I was back in business.

Do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
I always makes a DiskImage first and test this so that it runs OK
I use only - Verbatim DVDs
    I use only - DVD-R
I burn at an as slow speed possibly eg x1
    This gives good DVDs

Back again. Here is what I have found to work. I also have and use a LaCie DVD-R/RW DL external drive and a LaCie external hard drive as well. Since yesterday I have tried a few ways to burn a themed iDVD project having four 56 minute movies on it, amounting to 226 minutes onto a DVD DL disc, capacity 240 minutes. Apple tech support really didn't know what to do but gave me a very good tip. I had two options left. Apple tech support's tip was to try disc image. One of the replies on a thread with this subject said not to, but my experience today is good. Put your project onto "Burn to disc image," under "iDVD, file." Yesterday encoding took me 23 1/2 hours. Overnight for iDVD disc image, encoding took 21 1/2 hours (again) while I slept. This morning I tried to copy/burn disc image to a DVD with Roxio Toast 7, and it stopped near the end of the burn with some kind of "error" message. So then I tried Utilities> Disc Utility> Burn icon, and followed it through. Be sure to click the DVD DL drive in the window "Burn disc in.". I had one other problem though. At the end of a 46 minute copy, it started to verify, and at the end of verify it rejected the burn. So I tried again, and when "verify" appeared, I clicked on "Skip." The disc finished burning and is doing fine and well. A long and tortuous process, but at last something works. I made several additional copies using Disc Utility. Best wishes. Chuck, Chicago.
    2. Disconnect any other external devices not absolutely needed.
eg external USB/USB2 hard disks, other FW hard disks etc.

(Not a 'guy' but I will answer!)
First, I do not think that mixing widescreen and standard makes a difference in iDVD.
Second, you should use a better brand of DVD disk. Also, many of us have experienced fewer problems on playback with DVD-R disks. Recommended brands here are Verbatim, Maxell and Taio Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not consistent and may not give you a correct burn. They apparently have fewer layers in the composition of the disk. I have always used Verbatim DVD-R disks and have not had any burn problems.
Also, choose a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Third, to determine if the iDVD project will burn properly, create a disk image file (from within iDVD, go File->Save as Disk Image) and test it. Mount the disk image and then open DVD Player (in Applications) and view your project. If it plays correctly, you can then burn the actual DVD disk from the disk image file using Disk Utility.

I did everything I've seen suggested, but a friend (who used to be an Apple Genius) suggested that I do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
It worked, and I got a clean burn from iDVD.
Hopefully this can help other people.

Well, I finally got it, and it was odd enough to post here incase anyone looks this topic up again. Many things were tried, including burning the unedited film, the edited film without titles and chapter markers, abbreviating the chapter markers in case length was the issue (remember the old iMovie used to truncate them when moving to iDVD?). In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.
    One user more writes
To add my experience with Multiplex Errors using iDVD (7.0.4), I recently created two iDVD projects
Video from both passed from FCE 4.01 with chapters
One project worked fine in creating disk image file
    The other gave Multiplex Errors
I tried suggestions to remove special characters and no chapter marks at beginning, but nothing worked
Note that I've used iDVD for dozens of projects and this is first time I've run into Multiplex Errors
Anyway, for problem project, I tried an experiment where I removed all chapters in FCE and passed to new iDVD project
    This time multiplex errors gone
So had something to do with chapters
So now I tried numerous experiments to remove individual chapters and try again creating disk image with new iDVD project
After numerous tries, I was able to narrow problem down to 1 "Bad" chapter mark
That is, when I left the "bad" chapter in my FCE project and passed to iDVD, iDVD gave multiplex error
When I removed "bad" chapter mark (and others in), no multiplex error
As a final experiment, I moved "bad" chapter mark about 5-10 secs beyond original point and passed to iDVD, the multiplex errors now magically went away and I was able to finally create my disk image.
I have no idea why this worked, but thought I'd mention here in case someone else runs into similar problem.

In addition to Bengt's fine advice, burning errors can occur if you have located any of your menu buttons wholly or partly outside of the safe TV viewing area. Go to your main project menu, then click on View/Show TV Safe Area, to check. Drag into the safe viewing area any buttons that are outside the safe viewing area.
    Russ One - suggest this
Multiplex Error-There was an error during muxing preparation
One thing that worked for me was to export the video w/o chapter markers as a self contained movie (thereby not loosing the edits & etc). Then make a new FCE project and import that movie into a new sequence and add the chapter markers. I've used "-", "&" and "," with no problem in the chapter names. Removing the markers or exporting without them did solve the problem but renaming them with just numbers 1,2,3....5, did not solve the problem and since this problem seems to happen with with iMovie as well, it would suggest the problem is in the video or audio and in combination with the chapter markers iDVD just can't handle it. The only other possibility is that both iMovie and FCE share the same or similar chapter marker code that some how is corrupting the markers.
    Summary - What to try
    1. Chapters
    • Only A to Z and 0 to 9 in chapter title
    • No Chapter mark at very beginning of movie
    • No Chapter mark in or within 2 seconds from any transition in movie
    2. TV-safe area for buttons (no one outside this)
    3. Safe re-boot
    4. No other external devices connected - that are not needed
    SDMacuser adds to this
    • On #4 ... No ext. devices. Some think this applies mainly to ext. FW. Not the case. Also applies to ext. USB2 as well (not to mention flash drives too).
Do not leave 3rd party devices / camera / camcorder plugged in unless it is being used with iDvd's One Step process. Certain web cams can trigger this also (especially ones with added features like LED light/s that draw additional power from the FW or USB bus).
    5. Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-up hard disk
    6. Make a DiskImage first - reduces where problem originates
    7. Trash iDVD pref file
    8. Make a new iDVD project
    9. Movies in project with same aspect ratio eg 4x3 or 16x9
    10. No other programs/applications running during iDVD process. eg Internet, screen & energy savers

  • Error 1 during Build of exe

I have a program that I regularly build exe code from.  In the recent few weeks I have seen increasing errors during build.  Previously a save-all fixes the issue.  The compiler complains of Error 1 for a random vi.  The file identified changes and none the files have recently been updated.   Using LabVIEW 2011 SP1 Professional.  Did a full reinstall of the NI products, no help.  Mass compile is no help.  Relocating to C:\... to minimize path length is no help.  Suggestions ?  - thanks
    LV message.......
    Error 1 occurred at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\instr.lib\rscmwws\Utility\rscmwws Reset.vi
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @. ========================= NI-488:  Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller-In-Charge.

I resolved the issue by setting the following build properties
     - disconnect type definitions
     - enable debugging
     - unselect SRS

  • Need to convince manager on posting downtime during build of setup tables

Can any one suggest some pointers in writing a business case for downtime during build up of setup tables
this is for Sales Application component.

Delta loads especially for LO extraction is governed by the V3 jobs scheduled in the source system.
These V3 jobs will post into the delta queue even if there is some activity in the R/3 system.
To ensure that no transactions get missed - a downtime is taken in the source system so that no documents are changed.
If you want to avoid downtime :
    1. You should know which documents changed during the period the extractors were refreshed. this is in order to fo a full repair request.
    Typical procedure involves :
    1. Take downtime.
    2. Clear delta queues into SAP BI
    3. Deschedule V3 jobs
    4. Move enhancements into the production R/3 system.
    5. Do an init without data transfer into SAP BI to create the delta queues
    6. Schedule the V3 collection jobs
    7. open the system for users to post / change documents etc
    8. Continue deltas into SAP BI
If you want to avoid downtime then
    1. Clear delta queues into SAP BI
    2. Deschedule V3 jobs
    3. Move enhancements into R/3 production
    4. Init without data transfer
    5. Schedule V3 jobs
    6. Continue deltas
    7. Perform full repair request for documents that have changed between steps 1 and 5 into SAP BI.
I have gioven the steps for an enhancement - but then any activity involving changes to V3 extractions or Upgrade activity in SAP BI would fall into the same category.

  • CAS with three primary Roaming during build

    Hi All
we are about to build CAS and three primary servers , as we have many laptop users who travels between different regions ,what will happen if during SCCM build PRi 1 users are present in pri2 site are they going to get site code of Pri2 or pri1 as
their AD Account belongs to Pri1 regions.according to my understanding they should get the site code of the regions whereever there boundary belogs to the regions wise.
Can anyone provide a better understanding of this sitewise client assignment when clients roaming during build ,because i ahve come to know once they grt site code initially ,we can only change them manually.

Don't use three primaries at all unless there are more than 100k clients to manage. Also keep in mind that all sites have to be connected FAST! Slow WAN links are calling for trouble with regards to DRS replication.
A client will never change its assigned site. You are talking about roaming. Clients do not have to change their assigned site then. The client just performs content location requests and the MP will tell him the closest DP to use.

  • What can I do when Encore fails to encode during build?

I got the message that my project failed to encode during build, so I went to the Project window and tried to encode it manually. It still came back as failing to encode.
I am afraid I have a corrupt file in PP that is blocking the process.
    How can I fix this?
    Stressed Jim

Hey Bill: Please indulge me with some back ground information for full details.
I got fed up with my project. It was my first project to do. I had to learn everything from how to use a camera, lighting, capturing, editing in PP, (started with PP2.0 and 1 partitioned HHD. I have since updated my computer to 3 internal SATA HHD's with 2 external HHD's. Harm was intent on that. Went from 1GB of ram to 8GB; Xp to Vista to Win7. A new GTX260 video card. I plan on going to 12GB ram and new motherboard and a quad processor. I may need to get another VC that is recommended with my new MB?)
I am saying all this because the same project had to be redone when I updated a lot of this stuff. It was a mess trying to work with the original 2.0 project in XP and then 3.0 in Vista and then in 4.0 in Win7. So I had to start over several times. In all it has been over 2 years with many, I mean many problems. I even got a new camera along the way. You guys were very instrumental in helping me get through a lot of my problems. Most all due to my lack of knowledge about computers in general. There is also a lot to PP. I was so happy when I learned how to cut and ripple delete with 3 steps instead of 4. I have even learned a few shortcuts that makes titling a lot easier. YEA for me.
Needless to say my project was a mess. I did not know about first building a folder for all related sequences. They were all over in Explorer. I had 14 music clips and they were not in a folder; just as an example. You can imagine the mess I had created. My last debacle was to do some house cleaning. (I have a love hate relationship with the Delete butttom.) So I backed up everything on my D: to E: & H:. I then proceeded to delete all the stuff on D: thinking I could just move the project I was working on back to into D: and free up a lot of GB's. (As if that was how you created a seperate workspace from storage and backup.)  It was taking 5-6 minutes to open my project. I was also crashing a lot in Encore; that was my main concern. I had read where crashes were not good on a HD? But what do I know?
This is where I was when I sent you this forum. (Oh, by the way, I was able to successfully burn some DVD's before I did the housecleaning. They have 1 misspleed word and 1 button in Encore menus does not link where I want it to go, but I can live with these minor issues. It is a struggle, but I am working threw it. I put the smiley face, but it does concern me, I am wanting this DVD to be correct. I did not say perfect. I have learned the difference between a silk purse and a sow's ear.
Anyway, like I said, I got fed up not being able to burn a DVD, so I deleted everything having to do with my project except for the raw camera footage, EFX's, and music clips. I just learned by exploring in Explorer I could do that, so every time I started over in the past I had to recapture all my 5 hours of footage. (I used a Canon HV20 camcorder and it is great for my needs.) I found out somehow I had deleted some of the raw footage during my recent house cleaning; however and I can only guess, that is why I could not get Encore to burn a DVD by failing to encode. (But who cares nowww....with a distance closed eye smile.)
Becasue for now, all I have on my 3 HHD's are raw footage in 6 separate folders, as well as my EFX's and music clips in designated folders. That is all that is on my 3 video HHD's, 3 little ol' folders. I now want to start over and do it right this time. This is what I need to know:
    1. How to use 1 HHD for a workspace and the others for storage and backup without messing up my project. Someone mentioned using Project Manager??
    2. I also need to know how to use folders effectively to keep my project organized.
When I burnt my HD project on a Standard DVD going from PP to Encore using Dynamic link, the video turned out great. I can see my finger prints like HD; all the close ups are super clear when watched on a HD TV; except where the camera work was lacking. The face shots at a distance of 4-5 feet are not quite (said with a small huh, drawn out 'q' and face twisted to the right and downward, with a drawn up lip) "huh not q....uite" as sharp as one would have hoped, but way plenty good for an instructional DVD. (Harm doesn't like to hear that.) grrrr... I considered converting HD to SD, but in all, I am very pleased with the outcome of my project using Encore to Burn my HD project to a SD DVD disk.
I have an Epson Artisan 50 ink-jet label printer using JVC VD-R47HPS25 disks which works well together. My next purchase is a 1-3 DVD/CD Duplicator/copier with Copyright protection. All I need is the money. LOL Wife is even OK with it.
Now that you know my life's video history and where I have progressed, or regressed, not sure which, if you know of any good links to help with my 2 concerns, please give me a shout.
    Jim
    Is that detailed enought?

  • File name collision during build that includes Report Generation toolkit. How to correct?

When I switched to LV 8.6 (it's also in 8.6.1) I started getting a file name collision warning when building an installer that included the Report Generation toolkit. The executable works, but I don't like to leave warnings uninvestigated. I don't understand 1) why it's happening now and 2) what it's recommending for the fix. Here's part of the actual warning it gives.
LabVIEW prevented a file name collision during the
build. Duplicate file names cannot be copied to the same destination. You can
rename files as part of the build process to avoid name conflicts.
The following files were moved to a unique
    location:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW
    8.6\vi.lib\Utility\NIReport.llb\Append Control Image to Report.vi
    C:\Program
    Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\Utility\NIReport.llb\HTML\Append
    Control Image to Report.vi
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW
    8.6\vi.lib\Utility\NIReport.llb\Append File to Report.vi
    C:\Program
    Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\Utility\NIReport.llb\HTML\Append
    File to Report.vi
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW
    8.6\vi.lib\Utility\NIReport.llb\Append Horizontal Line to Report.vi...........

    Hi GS,
The architecture of the Report Generation Toolkit was changed in LabVIEW 8.6 to utilize LabVIEW Classes.  As such, there are some warnings during an EXE build because the class VIs have identical names.  Classes were not used in the toolkit in LabVIEW 8.5 and previous...that's why you didn't see any warnings during the build until now.
Your EXE should still function properly, and you shouldn't have to change anything about your build.  The purpose of the warnings is to let you know that the duplicate-named VIs needed to be handled differently during the build.

  • Install Updates task not working during Build and Capture in SCCM 2012

Working with a new SCCM 2012 installation.
We are trying to get a Build and Capture TS to install all updates for Win7SP1.
All packages are deployed to DP, build and cap machine is in a collection with all updates deployed to it. Agent installation parameters include "SMSMP" "SMSSLP" parameters. Machine is not being attached to the domain during OS install.
Updates can be pushed to existing domain machines, so obviously the updates themselves are working.
The task sequence works correctly to install the image, but "Install Updates" task just sits there and eventually times out. (No indication of updates being installed.) If this task is working, shouldn't I see a Downloading Updates progress bar, or was that
    eliminated from 2012?

Same issue for me except I'm running 2012 R2 my B&C runs forever on Install Software Updates, eventually just rebooting and coming back to the login screen of Windows 7 without ever finishing the Install Updates.
Been working on it litteraly for weeks.
1- Tried adding .Net 4.52 as an application installation thinking maybe it would resolve the issue
2- Tried installing via Run Command Line + DISM all hotfixes that require 2 reboots as per (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2894518)
3- Tried to simply REMOVE the same hotfixes from my Software Update Groups alltogether.
4- Injected all applicable software updates through Offline Servicing in the SCCM Console (Schedule Updates) on the Windows 7 DVD wim file. That way my logic was that once it would hit the Software Updates, there would be a lot less to install.
I'm at the point where I had to open a case with Microsoft Premier Support as of yesterday. So, nothing new to report yet. But yes, this is a true pain in the ***.
For the sake of comparison, I am running 4 Update Groups: one containing patches up to 2012. Another one for 2013, 2014 and 2015. I have patches for Windows 7 + Office of all categories except Service Packs.
If someone has any ideas, feel free to chime in.

  • CS6 "End of File" error or crash during build

    Hi,
During the build Encore CS6 gets most of the way done writing files and gives me "end of file" error or simply crashes.  I haven't had this problem on other projects, any thoughts? I've tried the basics of restarting Encore, restarting the computer, and checking for Encore updates.
I'm using OS 10.7, 8 gb ram, Intel core 2 duo.
    Thanks.

Are the video and audio lengths the same for all assets? What is the audio format? What app did the transcoding?

  • Encore Transcodes MPEG-2 Audio & Bitrate Error During Build

Encore transcodes the audio but the audio is already MPEG-2. The video and audio assets have following properties:
    .mpv = 8.0 Mbit/s maximum (VBR 6-8 MB)
    .mpa = 0.2 Mbit/s fixed
And during transcoding the error "Bitrate to High" stops the build process. Is there somewhere a limiter in action, or what is it?

    Sir Wilkes...
Okay, I set the Bitrate to 9.4 Mbit/s, let's see if it works thru...
    mpa:
The audio should be "MainConcept MPEG-Audio MPEG-1 Layer II-Audio" in stereo, however I have no program affirm that. The import works, I was just surprised that the audio gets transcoded, possibly to Dolby Digital. This company always delivers mpa's since they work with Avid. I have the video transcoded right there since the Avid 1x1 uncompressed quicktime codec does not work with any Adobe products, well, normally we do the Avid stuff on Mac but my boys are filming in London and Greenland so le chef has to do this one by himself.
    This DVD is PAL.

This problem is described on the Knowledgebase. I suspect that you recently
upgraded to LV5.1 and the new application builder. You no longer need to
have copies of analysis or other vi.lib files in your LLB, and in fact,
due to a bug in the application builder VIs, it returns an erro
    r when you
include certain ones that contain a CIN that uses an LSB. Anyway, the
knowledgebase has a tool that will delete the unnecessary vi.lib files,
or you can open the application in the editor and Save with Options,
excluding vi.lib files and then build the application from the new LLB.
By the way, there isn't an interpretive mode in LV. VIs are always compiled.
The compiled code just run in the editing environment instead of being made
    into an executable.

  • Install Software Updates Step fails during Build and Capture

I have run into a problem while attempting to use the Install Software Update task during a build and capture task sequence.  I have MDT 2012U1 integrated into SCCM 2012.
The Install Software steps find and use the Deployment Points fine and the Use Toolkit steps similarly are able to download their source files from the distribution points using the Network Access account.  The Install Software Updates step, however
fails with an access denied error in the CAS.log.
I have found that I can work around this problem by setting the DP to allow anonymous access.  After checking this box, the software updates install during the build and capture task sequence.  Unchecking the Allow anoymous makes the problem recur.
I would like to not have to have the "allow anonymous access" enabled on the DPs for obvious reasons.  Other packages download correctly from the DP with anonymous access disabled - they use the network access account.  Install Software Updates
is the only step that seems unable to use that account to talk with the DP.
Is this a known issue?  Is there a work around?

Thanks for the information. I will give that a try.  I do have the SMSMP & SMSSLP (not sure I need this one in 2012) filled in in the Configmgr client install settings.  Before I did that, it couldn't even find the SUP.
I am a little skeptical that the hotfix will fix my problem since most packages are downloading from the DP fine - it is only Software Updates that are failing to download.  On the other hand, it is clearly a permissions issue since allowing anonymous
on the DP resolves the issue, all be it in a way I am uncomfortable maintaining in the long run.
That KB replaces a lot of key Windows system files.  Hopefully, it won't cause more problems than it solves.
    ---additional thought
I wonder, could it be that Packages that work without this KB have package share settings with "Copy the content in this package to a packages share on Distribution Points" cleared/unchecked?  This setting is not available for patch packages
    - so I wonder if it is enabled by default behind the scenes.  That could explain why the patch packages are affected and not the other regular application packages I have are not.  All my regular packages so far do not have the
"Copy the content" box checked. Clients would be accessing the packages differently I suppose based on whether it was through a packages share or through the new SCCM 2012 package storage thing with the hashing.
