How to handle erroneous records in PSA. Should I consult R/3 consultants to correct them...

this depends on the type of error.
Conversion errors and similar things can be corrected in the transfer rules, real data errors needs to be corrected in the source system itself and so normally by the responsible r/3 guy.

How to find erroneous records in PSA in BI 7.0

In BW 3.5 if load fails for some reason like lower case or unidentified character data is edited in PSA n loaded from there.
We have an option to check for only erroneous records in PSA separately.
How can that be possible in BI 7,0 because loading will be done till PSA using an infopackage n it will not fail for such reasons.
I cant go check for each record in PSA which is to be edited after DTP failed .
Please explain

Not able to find erroneous records in psa

In monitor I have some records for which bw is saying that these records are having invalid characterstic but unfortunately when i'm seeing in psa table i'm not able to find them out,
can some body give me the clues regarding this

Have you did what i suggested
Select the PSA record. Open all the records. Now select the status column by pressing the header. Now press the sort button. red requests all will be in the bottom of the data record set.
Check in the monito detail list which PSA data packet is having errors. All PSA data packets will not have errors . Only a few data packets will have error records. Select that data packet and do what is suggested
To find out which data packet is having error see the detail screen of the monitor and open all the messages there in the transfer rules

Erroneous Records reporting from PSA in 3.5

Dear All
I need to build a report which pulls in only the erroneous records from the PSA in 3.5. I have created an export datasource on the PSA but the status field is not in the extract structure. Is this field able to be included as a field in the extract structure as it is does not contain numbers or characters.
if anyone has a different approach to this methodology then please feel free to comment

Hi,
this is a very traditional approach.
try to activate an SQL trace before all this.
You can try to select the data from PSA and when you give the filter on errorneuos records and see the values.
Once trace is stopped you can check which tables it hits and then based on that you can create a function moudule which automatically populates the data in the active table of the DSO based on the selections from the PSA table and status field.
I think its feasible with help of a good ABAP.

Erroneous records

hi friends,
i have load the material in master data , some errors are araised.
Data Package 1 : arrived in BW ; Processing : Data records for package 1 selected in PSA - 1 er
Data Package 1 ( 19071 Records ) : Errors occurred
Update ( 0 new / 0 changed ) : Errors occurred
*Record 7817 :0MATERIAL : Data record 7817 ('MLH0261` E '): Version 'MLH0261` ' is not valid*
Processing end : Errors occurred .
i have go to psa -- erroneous records check one record wil come 'MLH0261` i remove the ' special character
and save -- refresh . request is red.
plz tell me solution

Hi friends,
first go to psa maintaince icon -- no of records 2000, erroneousness selected --- some errors
are shown , you have to go to edit mode and change the invalid & special characters. and then save.
next go to datasource -- context menu -- manage -- click scheduler icon and schedule -- start button click
refresh . request is green .

1. check the Erroneous Record. find the reason
2. goto monitor, find the load, set the status to RED.
delete this request
3. correct the erroneous, invalid char/value or setting, reload the data.
If the errouneous only affect few records, you can update data in psa by manual and upload data from psa to data target directly.

How to find a record in PSA

hi all,
tell me the steps how to find a record in PSA.suppose there are >20 data packages..how can i find out that specific record from those datapackages with out knowing datapackage..

Hi Jack,
It so happens that when data is pulled into the PSA there will be no specific order. Hence it is impossible to know which record is present in which data package.
But if you want to know how many error records are there and what are those there are always options of selecting all the packets and display only erraneous records.

Editing error records in PSA

Hi All,
While loading data from R/3 datasource to PSA in BI side, the data load got failed due to invalid character present in the data.
When i tried to edit that error record in PSA i found that the entire datapackage containing the error record is skipped from updating into PSA. So i'm unable to edit that error record in PSA.
Is there any setting that needs to be done so that error records gets updated in PSA, so that we can edit it at PSA level and load further to datatargets.

Hi,
If PSA contain data records and if the records present in PSA contain invalid characters then the error would pop out.
But in your case you say that the error records are not visible in the PSA but you face the error!!!!
Check in the status and detail tabs in the infopackage maintenance screen to confirm the exact error that you face.
Please check the data present in your PSA via table. The table name of PSA starts with /BIC/B000*.
There is a possibility of the data present in the PSA could have got archived too.

How to display all incorrect records in PSA

Hello,
Is there a shortcut to display all the incorrect records in PSA. I am aware of a particular value that has been posted incorrectly and we're pulling over a million records from R/3. Each time i run the update, it fails due to the same data value error. This is prod env and i'm running delta init after a transfer rule change.

I was facing the same problem. But i just asked my end user to make the changes in his data entry so that there were no errors while extraction itself.
One more thing what you can do if u know the exact data error is to write one select statement on the PSA table where the condition is the error what ur facing daily. There are no other shortcuts to see a error record in PSA unless untill u face problem while updating the data target. in that case the record in PSA will be in in status red and you can filter for this record.
Hope i made certain things clear. Please post if u r not convinced.

Erroneous record - urgent

Hi,
If there are delta loads happening in an infocube , and in yesterday's a single record was found erroneous .We cant delete the request and then reload the Info package as the data is huge.
How to solve this.
pls give me an appropriate solution.

Sruthi,
If you want to delete that particular record then you can do it in the Selective deletion. If you are using BI 7 then you will be having Error Stack where only the erroneous records will be put up after the extraction.

Duplicate records in PSA and Error in Delta DTP

Hi Experts,
I have enabled delta on CALDAY Feild for a Generic Data Source in Source system.
1) Initially I have created one record in source system and I have run the Delta Infopackage.So PSA Contains one record.
2) I have run the Delta DTP.Now That one record has moved to DSO
3) Again I have created one more record in source system and I have run the Delta Infopackage.Here I have contains 2 records in PSA.One record is created in step 2 and other record created from step 1.
4) If I try to run the Delta DTP, I am getting Error saying that Duplicate records are there.
So would you please tell me how to rectify this Issue.
My requirement is I need to run the load multiple times a day . (Note: Data Source is delta enabled)

you can use the this feature only when loading master data, as it will ignore lines. if you would have for example a changed record with a before and after image, one of the two lines would be ignored.
you can keep searching and asking, but if you want to load a delta more then once a day, you can't use a calendar day as a generic delta field. this will not work.
the best thing is to have a timestamp.
if in the datasource you have a date and time, you can create a timestamp yourself.
you need in this case to use a function module.
search the forum with the terms 'generic delta function module' and you'll for sure find code that you can reuse

Deleting records from PSA

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to delete the errorneous records from psa table. i have abt 24 data packets each have abt 23000 records.
the error is the dta package 23 and 24.

Another thing........why your data oacket failed.......is your extraction got completed...........
If your data packets failed due to SID issue...........then you load the master data....delete the request without making it red from the target ............go to RSA1 >> click on PSA >> find the request and reconstruct it.........
Otherwise if you extraction is completed............do manual update.......ie right click on data packet >> do manual update.........before that make the settings background.........otherwise in foreground it will take long time..................

How to correct the erroneous data in PSA

Hi Friends,
Currently we are using BI 7.0 and loading flat file. We have some invalid characteristics in the source file itself. We have created infopackage and executed also and came to know that file is having some invalid characteristics.
Now we want to edit this error records in PSA itself and from there we want to upload in to above data targets( DOS). To edit this PSA data we went to RSMO screen and PSA maintenace button but it was saying no "PSA could be found".
My doubts regarding this data flow are given here:
1. By default l PSA is included in Data flow ( when we are executing the infopackage )or not?
2. Without PSA where the data going to be reside. Do we need to maintain any settings at Infopackage screen to include PSA in the data flow?
3. If My data flow is like Datasource ---> DOS, then we have to create infopackage to push the data into PSA and there on we need to create DTP to push the data from PSA to DOS. So, PSA presence is mandetory in this data flow or without PSA also we can uplaod the data from Data source to DOS.
Please give your valuable answers for above questions.

If there is any Error Records (i.e. Special Charecters)... Please load to ODS as well from PSA. You can change in Error Stack and Load using Error DTP.
1. Yes, PSA is part of Dataflow.
2. You can't load without PSA.
3. Not possible without PSA in BI 7.0
You can change from Datasource --> Manage --> You can PSA Push button on Application Tool Bar. Select your Request and Click on PSA Icon. You can change in that Screen.
In your case, based on the error. You don't have that request in PSA i guess.

Database changes between data records of PSA

Hi all,
Does anybody know a way, how to flush or commit database change between processing each data record from PSA by transfer rules?
I have some routines in transfer rules (updating attributes of master data from datasource), where I need values from exactly previously processed data record. But SELECT from /BIC/Q... table gives me no changes of these values
Command of selection is written correctly, because it gives me new values in next run of DTP process.
And little explanation, what I'm trying to achieve:
In PSA I have account, date and value and I need count, how this value changed for a concrete day and store this value to time-dependent attribute of master data. All data records with the same key (duplicate record) overwrite the result of previously one, so only last one is stored in master data.
Shortly, I need something like aggregation ADDING of routine in transfer rule detail, but able to catch duplicate records.

Some note about investigation process.
I tried change my data flow and made the same transfer rules from data source to ODS, if it will behave in different way.
I have found data records correctly collected (agregated) in New data of ODS, but EMPTY in active data! So I think, the something similar happend in case of updating master data, and that's why I didn't saw any agregation.
There is no need to call-out database changes, but this problem is kind od anythink else
This shoud be for a new thread, but how can keyfigures become empty after activation?? I've searched forum and found only a case, when End routines are implemented and they skip update rules, whitch are initial. This is not my case.

Checking data record in PSA

How can i check data record in PSA. I know how to do it in 3.5 but not in 7.0, that little colorful chart button is now where to be found. Any help would be greatly appreciated

RSA1 -> Datasource -> Right click on the datasource and click on manage. You should be able to see PSA data.
Alternatively, you can see it though InfoPackage also.
