Error 0x80070057

This morning i tried to do a batch send to my clients (with a xmas card, 3MB) on my Asus Win 8.1, Outlook 7, Intel Core i7.
I suppose that the weight of the batch was too large and due to this, I now get the message error 0x80070057 invalid parameter.
I can send emails and I can receive. Yet when I send out 1 email, the process bar (bottom right) mentions that outlook is sending 2 messages (when in fact I am only sending 1).
Can you please advise on the actions (fix) I must take? For your information, if this applies to me, I am from Europe yet took my computer on travel to the USA. Hence, perhaps there is port issue?? The fact is that for the last week on vacation i have had
no issues at all.
Many thanks for your advice!
Season's Greetings,
Vince

Hi,
It may be a port issue. What type of account do you use? Exchange, IMAP or POP3?
Please contact your ISP to check if there is an alternative port for your Outgoing mail server. For example, the main one is 25 and the alternative one is 587, let's switch to 587 to test the result if you have set it as 25.
For information about how to setup Email account in Outlook:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287532
Since it may also be an Inbox corrupt issue, please run Scanpst.exe to repair the Outlook Data File:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227
I hope this helps.

  • Windows 7 update error 0x80070057

So I am having issues updating my Windows 7.
Whenever I try to manually update it gives me an error where it says
"Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running."
I tried to troubleshoot Windows update and it came with a few errors unfixed.
    "Problems installing recent updates"
    "windows update error 0x80070057"
What is the best way going about fixing this, I could not find solutions online that work for me

Tried both suggestions with and without running safe mode:
Open-the-Windows-Update_troubleshooter found issues running is safe mode, but 0x80070057 was not fixed, and "problems installing recent updates also not fixed.  Also, "Corrupt files detected", but no indication what they were.  Rebooted and re-ran,
again in safe mode, with the same result.
Moved on to .../kb/971058/en-us and ran Fix-It.  "Troubleshooting cannot continue because an error has occurred."  Ran the tool to diagnose the troubleshooting failure:  "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem"
    Yikes!
Problems started with "Scorpion Saver Services adware being detected and tried to get rid of it.  I don't know if the problems with updates were occurring before or after that.  During the process of trying to delete the adware malware, "Malwarebytes"
discovered 13 malware issues.  I also installed Windows 7 SP1, but had to do it manually.
    Still cannot update ...

  • Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect on Copy Paste

    Hi,
When trying to copy a file off a networked drive I get the following error: Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect.
This is the second time this has occurred. The first time I was trying to copy 4 files and 3 of them were copied correctly and the other was not. The solution then was to add it to a zip archive and then copy that.
This time, adding it to an archive does not work.
This is not a file path issue, other files with longer source and destination paths copy fine.
Any idea what is going on?
    Cheers,
    Jason

    Hi,
Before going any further, I would like to verify these siturations:
1 Does this issue occur with other type of file?
2 Does this issue occur when copy from USB drive?
Parameter is incorrect is an idiopathic symptom (it could be a network connection problem, a file with unrecognizable attributes, a corrupted file, or any number
of other causes). That is the error that windows reports and it doesn't tend to be very helpful in diagnosing the actual problem.
For your case, please try to reinstall WinRAR, and logon with
    Clean Boot
to see if the same issue occurs.
    Regards,
    Leo

  • Error 0x80070057 After Deleting Bitlocker Partitions

I'm in the process of configuring OSD through SCCM 2012 R2 U1 and am having issues getting the task sequence to format the drive again after the drive was encrypted with BitLocker.
I've read on multiple sites that Windows is able to install right over a BitLocker'd drive through PE without needing to disable BL through windows first if the partitions are gone. As such, I've setup the following to run in diskpart prior to the Partition
    Disk 0 - BIOS step:
    select disk 0
    select partition 1
    delete partition override
    select partition 2
    delete partition override
    exit
This works, however the Partition Disk 0 - BIOS step fails at formatting C: with
Error 0x80070057 The parameter is incorrect.
It formats the system reserved partition just fine, but leaves the remainder of the drive as "raw" and usually unreadable by diskpart which requires me to boot to gparted to delete the partitions on the drive to do anything with it again.
    I've:
    verified SCCM boundaries
tried assigning a variable to save the drive letter to
    disabled quick format
    disabled all Bitlocker steps
disabled the diskpart steps I added
format the drives prior to the task sequence with:
    Select Disk 0
    Clean
    Create Partition Primary Size=350
    Active
Format FS=NTFS Label="System Reserved" Quick Override
    Assign Letter=S
    Create Partition Primary
    Format FS=NTFS Label=OS Quick Override
    Assign Letter=C
Nothing will get the SCCM task sequence past this. This happens for both Windows 7 and 8.1 task sequences.
What's interesting is, if I load up the Windows 7 media via flash drive and install through that, Windows installs without issue. I've then been able to bitlocker the drive and unencrypt it as expected. Attempting to run the task sequence after this results
    in the same error.
My question is, what is different between the default windows installer and the windows install through SCCM when it comes to partitioning the drive and how do I get the SCCM task sequence to match the default Windows install process so this will install?

I've tried with that and numerous other labels and it still fails.
If I've gotten Win7 / 8 installed through the default media, it seems like the drive can be partitioned correctly and working fine. When the "Partition Disk 0 - BIOS" task runs, SCCM doesn't give me the ability to specify the exact diskpart commands; it
sorts that out on its own. The diskpart commands above were my troubleshooting steps. SCCM wipes them away once the Task Sequence runs.
There's something that SCCM doesn't like about drives that have been bitlocker'd and not properly unencryped through the OS prior to wiping the drive.
Does the default Windows 7/8 media run different diskpart commands during install than SCCM would run for install? One works - the other doesn't.
Below are the settings that are configured for this step - which I believe are default for an auto generated task sequence.

    Hello,
I am trying to install  Windows Framework 4/PowerShell 4 by running "Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu" /quiet /norestart.  If I do this manually from my desktop, it works fine.  But from sccm 2012 Application or package deployment,
it fails immediately with Error: 0x80070057(-2147024809) invalid arugment. BTW, I have the requirement installed: .Net 4.52 installed.

  • Error 0x80070057 when importing VM from Server 2008R2 to Server 2012 R2

Hello.  I am using SCVMM 2012 to export a Windows 7 desktop from a 2008R2 HyperV server, to a 2012R2 HyperV server.  The job fails at step 1.5 (Import Hyper-V virtual machine) in the SCVMM log.  The error message is:
    Error (2901)
The operation did not complete successfully because of a parameter or call sequence that is not valid.  the parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)
    Recommended Action
Ensure that the parameters are valid, and then try the operation again.
I've found the KB968968 regarding "ScopeOfResidence" and that isn't the problem here.  the EXP file that is created on my target server has no data between the [VALUE][/VALUE] tags for this element.
When I try to manually import from the target server using HyperV manager rather than SCVMM, I browse to the folder where the VHD and subfolders containing the EXP file are located and I get "Hyper-V did not find virtual machines to import from location
"G:\my\path\to\this\VHD" "  Same thing when I browse to any subordinate folder such as the Virtual Machines folder or the GUID folder underneath that.

    Hello Connor,
Please advise if you followed below best practices?
    If you are upgrading from Hyper-V 2008/R2 to Hyper-V 2012 R2.
The first option is to Shut down all Hyper-V virtual machines on the WS2008R2 host, then stop the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service. Finally copy all virtual machines that you want to migrate to WS2012R2 Hyper-V host, and then Import the Virtual
    Machines.
The second option is, if you already exported the VMs and you don’t have 2008R2 Hyper-V host anymore.
The exported Hyper-V virtual machines from 2008 R2 host copy them into Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V and import them, then simple copy the VMs to Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V and import them. The server with Hyper-V 2012 is only used to perform the import
process thus allowing the VM to be copied into Hyper-V 2012 R2.
The reason why is the following:
In Windows Server 2012 Microsoft introduced a new WMI namespace (root\virtualization\v2) which is much better import/export model – allowing you to effectively just copy the virtual machine folder (with the VM’s XML configuration file inside it) as well
as the VM’s VHDs and then import them directly. Microsoft maintained version 1 WMI namespace in Windows 2012 which is allowed for importing Windows Server 2008/R2 VM’s on 2012.
In Windows Server 2012 R2 Microsoft removed the old version 1 namespace which means we can’t import directly virtual machines that were exported from Windows Server 2008/R2.
    Hope this help.

  • Windows Update Error 0x80070057

When installing Windows 7 SP 1 I get this error. When not using the Windows Update service, so manually downloading the SP and running it, the setup completes, reboots automaticually, typical "Configuring Windows Updates" screen, reboots again, "Configuring
stage 2" , suddenly the message changes to "Error configuring updates" and reverts to original state. Same story when using the windows updates service.
So far I have tried :
    - System Update Readiness Tool
    - Rename SoftwareDistribution folder
    - Sysprep /oobe /generalize
    - Update KB972036 is not installed
    - Reset windows updates http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058/en-us
    - Windows Update Troubleshooter
    - Installed SP1 in Windows safe mode
    - There are no references to 0x80070057 present in HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
    - http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html
I was convinced the problem was the SID as the PC's were cloned using images. But sysprep with the /generalize switch resets the SID, so appearently this was not the cause of the problem.
I do realize a format or a reset to factory with the manufacturer CD would fix this but we like to avoid this as we'll need to do all the PCs in our network.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Generally speaking, these two error message means Windows update encoutner permission problem. Would you please share the setupapi.dev.log of C:\Windows\Inf?

  • Errors 0x80070057 and 0x800703ed creating 'system repair' and 'system image' DVDs

I have an HP620/WZ294UT#ABA using Win7 which I bought in May2011. At that time,
I successfully created the DVDs listed above.
Last week, while using Adobe Flash Player 10 to listen to an audiocast,
after about an hour, I lost my internet connection. Other things were also
wrong, so I re-booted. However, after trying to signon, it just hung and clocked.
Waited over 10 minutes, but I never got my background image nor the taskbar.
Multiple re-boots failed the same way. Since I couldn't start any monitors,
I don't know what was wrong.
I ended up using the above DVDs to successfully (apparently) recover my system
via f11. It seemed to work, however, on the final 'system image' DVD, I got an
error 'unreadable 0x80070570'. However, my system seems to be working OK.
I re-installed all my own software that I installed since that backup.
However, I wanted to make an updated set of DVDs so that,
    1. if the 'unreadable' error was due to a faulty DVD
    2. if my system failed again, I wouldn't have to re-install so much software.
However, both the above functions failed as stated above.
For the 'create system repair' function, either thru your menus, thru
Control Panel, and even thru recdisc.exe, it fails. ProcMon shows this:

My f: drive does NOT have a Recovery DIR, and my c: drive does not have a
WindowsRE DIR in its Recovery DIR. Further, the \Windows\System32\Recovery DIR
only has 1 file, and not what ProcMon says what is being accessed.
I found something VERY DISTURBING in your Web site, which SEEMS TO IMPLY that
these above functions can ONLY be run once:
"CAUTION: The HP Recovery Manager allows the creation of only one (1) set of
    recovery discs,".
If so, that's VERY horrible; when my software is changed/updated, how am I
supposed to be able to recover my current system without a new 'system image'?
Am I screwed here, and will I be forced to spend many hours recovering my system
to make it current? Patiently awaiting your answer...

I will probably do the same here. I just think I made a mistake leaving 32 bit XP
I'll leave XP when they pry it from my cold dead hard drive.

  • Failed to execute IS server package because of error 0x80070057. Server: ?.?

Well I am trying to execute a package using dtexec ( firstime) , package works fine from Visual Studio as well as from SqlSerever management studio.
Error: is not a valid server package path
    Parameter name: packagePath
    Source: Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS
    Started:  4:21:24 PM
    Any help would be appreciated.

An error in the package path specified? E.g. an incorrect location. Or special charters (e.g. \ or /) stand in dtexec's way. So you may need to escape it with an extra \
    (AFAIR).

  • NO SSD Hardware but getting Event ID: 257 Error 0x80070057 on new Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro

    Hi Folks
I am getting this error after upgrading to W 8.1 Pro from W 8.0 on TWO different partitions on a 2 TB HDD that has THREE partitions. The third one, I just reimaged it for a W 8.1 Pro Lab, OPTIMIZED OKAY. My other 1 TB HDD drive with 2 partition optimized fine.
At the present time, the only Flash Drives I have are Thumb Drives (Jump Drives) which are NOT "check off" for optimization.
I DO NOT have any SSD's!!!
Thank You for your attention to this issue,

    Hi Alex,
I have done the 3 partitions on the 2 TB HDD.  Drive F appears to have had  no problems in either Analysis or Defrag AND did not have any problems in the GUI run neither!!!

  • I want to update my WINDOWS 8 TO WINDOWS 8.1. But it doesn't updating. PLEASE HELP ME TO FIX THIS ERROR.

    SO HERE IT IS.
I ALREADY READ MANY STEPS, MANY TIPS ON HOW TO FIX MY PROBLEM IN MY WINDOWS. BUT I REALLY CAN'T FIX IT. I'm not professional in terms of Computer System. But I really want to upgrade my Operating System to Windows 8.1.
    I really can't do it.
The window store says that I need to upgrade the pending updates for my applications but when I click install all.
It's just pending. There's nothing happening. There's nothing installed.
So I go to control panel then search the windows update.
There I click the Install Updates. I waited for 4 hours. But there's really nothing happening so I cancelled it.
Then here is what happened after that.
IT SAYS THAT code:80070003 windows update run into a problem then I clicked the "Get help with this error"
    Then I run the troubleshooting
    And then after that.
the troubleshooting has completed this is what it said.
    Problems Found:
Service registration is missing or corrupt
    Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2014-08-10-T-02_20_42P)
    Problems Installing recent updates
    So that's is.
I don't know what to do.
    PLEASE HELP ME. :(

Thanks, but, using the "free" version of Reader, there is no opportunity to open nor import the xml data - the menu options do not exist - there is no import listed.
If we try to open the xml file directly, then we get an error - something to the effect of "unsupported file type, or the file is corrupted".
I just noticed in my Pro version that there is the command File ->Form Data ->Import Data to Form... command. Is this what you are referring to?
What do you recommend? Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to purchase a few copies of Acrobat Pro for the reservations people to use? I was hoping that the free version of reader would do it, but perhaps not?
    Thanks again,
    Rob
