Error 0x80400005 when backing up my 6680

Hi!
What's wrong with this PC Suite Software? I have owned a 6680 a couple of years now but have never succeded to back it up. I have searched everywhere for a solution to this 0x80400005 error but it seems very hard to find. Now I must change model to a E65 and I would like to import all my contacts and calender from the 6680. If I can't do that I will shurley throw this **bleep** away and by a Sony Ericson instead...
My PC is at the time running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 (had exactly the same problem with SP 2).
Have the latest PC Suite Software, version 6.86.9.3. I wish I could find an older version to try somewhere...
Have tried both USB and Bluetooth. It doesn't matter either.
The exact message of the error is "Nokia Content Copier - A fatal error occured during the backup. Error code: 0x80400005" and it doesn't matter what I try to back up from the phone it's the same error message every time. Have changed the language of the phone to English.
Have tried to update the PC Suite application on the phone which is v1.07.
And much, much more...
The log file have this message: "Backup log:
Date and time: ?2008-06-30 22:00?
A fatal error happened during the backup operation. The backup file could not be saved."
Now I hope that someone out there can help me.

Same problem here with my 6680, every time I try to backup the phone the result is the same ."Error 0x80400005". Updating the software has had no positive effect. This time as part of reinstalling my XP Pro operating system I also reinstalled the latest downloaded Nokia PC suit and tried to do a backup, sadly it failed again. Having tried many other suggestions and still looking for a solution I came accross this thread and proceeded to delete PC_suite support as suggested, re-started the phone and then tried to reinstall Pc_ Suite_ suppor via the help tag.... it started ok.... <suspense>... more <suspense> Then Voila!!! Now I still can't backup the phone but also I cannot install Pc suite support!! The installation fails everytime stating it is unable to install, no actual reason is given. Examining the submenu on the phone for the unistalled Pc_suite_support 1.7.0 it states that the "Status" is indeed unistalled and under "view certificate" it reports that it has expired!! The phone appears to still work ok (it is a little trooper) Should I try to find a solution to revive the "expired certificate" and try again or go to the pub? Guess it is cheers!!

I am getting this error message when backing up with Deja Vu

The mail system can be backed up with mailbfr and the resulting backup subsequently with any decent backup software. mailbfr will make sure the mail system is stopped while backing up.
A server is always tricky to backup, because it is always in a "fluctuating" state. Ideally all services should be stopped before a backup. Some will not cause major issues, others like mail will. Unless you have some sort of raid setup, where you can take a disk offline for backup purposes, you will always have to be very careful.
I would look for service specific scripts on an as needed basis. There are some around for SQL for example.

After many failed attempts this is what worked for me:
Step 1. Right click on your phone in the left hand side bar and select Back Up
Step 2. Restore your phone and use the option where you restore and update
Step 3. When its done it will ask you to use the back up you previously completed

Error -43 when backing up iPhone for update 5.0

I'm trying to update 5.0 on my iPhone 3gs and am getting error -43 when the phone is being backed up. Help! I waited a half a week hoping that the problem would go away, but it hasn't.
I've read that some other users have erased everything on their iPhone so that they could update, and then manually installed everything after, but I don't have half a day to spend on this.
Any ideas?

Well, I've since taken the plunge and tried to update anyway, by restoring the iPhone, thinking I could restore from my backups. Now turns out that I can't restore because "the backup session failed". Goddammit.
This is the biggest problem I have with my iPhone, that iTunes is such an abominable piece of software. I just want to get iOS 5 on this phone so I can leave iTunes behind.

Constantly receiving Error -43 when backing up iPhone

When trying to upgrade my iPhone from 4.1 to 5 in iTunes 10.5 on my Windows 7 x64, the update process begins by trying to backup the iPhone. Every time it tries, however, it gets a small way into backing up the iPhone, it appears with the error box: "An error occurred while backing up this iPhone (-43)" and tells me that continuing will erase the phone. This happens every time.
Bizarrely, right-clicking the device in the navigation pane and choosing Back Up *seems* to work fine, but it is waaayyy too fast, so I dont think the backup is working properly.
I have enough hard drive space to store the entire device, so that shouldnt be a problem.
I dont want to have to Restore or Erase the device because it has a lot of information and I dont think the Backups are valid.
Anyone have any ideas?

Error (-402653077) when backing up for 4.2 update

Every time that i try to backup my ipod touch 3rd generation for the 4.2 update i get an error (-402653077) message. Then it ask me if i want to continue but it will erase all media from my ipod i really dont want to do this but can't seem to find a way around it. Does anyone know what the error means and how i can fix it.

It appears that one app installed on the iPad was installed by an IT pro at my wife's office, with his account and password. When I tried to update the iOS and sync the iPad, it was hanging while backing up the app whose account was not present.
I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, which did not affect the issue. I did a reboot of the (crashed, frozen) iPad, and it got partway through startup before appearing to crash again (not connected to the computer). After about a half an hour, the startup process suddenly completed itself, and the iPad was back, working normally. But it still wouldn't sync.
For that, I had to delete the app that had been installed by the IT guy's account. Now the iPad syncs normally, and everything's working.

I've backed up for the first timeusing PSE 7. Usually I do a general back up of everything on my laptop but now I want to make sure the file structure, tags, metadata etc are backed up correctly.
I ran the backup to an external hard drive with no trouble but when I went to check if the back up had worked I ran into diffculities. Its obvious that the photos have been copied over but I'm not sure about the rest. If I double click on the icon that has the file type of tly or buc then the Editor opens
up and I get the following error messages (depending on which icon I clicked on):
Cannot open 'E:\PSEBackup13Sept2013\Backup.tly' because it is the wrong type of file
Cannot open 'E:\PSEBackup13Sept2013\catalog.buc'
Can anyone assist?
My laptop has no memory left so I was planning to delete the majority of photos from my laptop once
the backup was done. I'd then plug in the external hard drive when I wanted to access the photos.

Are you saying that you want to delete all your photos from laptop and still be able to search them from Organizer? That can be done from Organizer but the question remains 'why you want to search for a media which you have deleted'. If you have imported a media in Organizer and later you renamed/delete the file from hard drive then that file (actually preview) is sitll shown in Organizer though missing. You will be able to search them but can't do any operation like edit/share/export etc...So the question remains is 'why you want to search for a media which you have deleted'.
Please let me know if I am missing something here.

Error (-48) When Backing up /Users/~/Library/Preferences

I recently just tried to do a fresh from scratch Time Machine backup of one of my computers on a new hard drive I bought. However, I noticed that Time Machine would repeated stall out at around 12GB backed up and have to restart the backup from scratch.
From analyzing the console messages and logs, I noticed that Time Machine was having trouble backing up my /Users/~/Library/Preferences ("~" being a placeholder for the name of the account) folder. Specifically, any preference files or directories that were stored there that were not with the .plist extension generated Error (-48) messages in the console. Following those messages the backupd service (i.e., Time Machine) would SegFault and then crash (Console output is below).
The backup completes fine on its own if I exclude the Preferences folders for my user account. However, if I try to include it I get the same old results. Obviously, I have a lot of preference files (like MS Office) that I would like to back up so I am trying to find out (1) what a Error -48 actually menas and (2) what the problem with these preference files is and (3) is there anyway to get Time Machine to not freak out when it tries to copy them over.
Any help would be appreciated.

Error message when backing Music Library up to external drive

I am trying to copy my iTunes music folder from my laptop onto a firewire drive to back it up. I keep getting the same message "Sorry, the operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -50)" Copying other files works fine, this only happens with the iTunes folder. How can I fix this?

If you can't copy the folder Music>iTunes for backup then I would try to backup Music>iTunes>iTunes Music>Artists folder one by one to see if it was an individual folder that was causing the problem.
Are you just using Drag and Drop for the copy?
