Error 0xc00000e9 on my hp pavilion g6-1103SA

The hard drive test was failing and I have got another 1tb drive into the notebook.
I was installing windows 7 on the new drive using a bootable usb with window 7 on it. later,  I decided to use a dvd to install windows because I can only find the license for that.
The silly thing I did was to just pull out the usb drive like that and I reckon since then I have been getting
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such  as an external USB drive
while the device is in use,
or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable
storage is properly connected
and then restart your computer.
If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.
I can't seem to find how I can disable the PC from looking at any usb from the BIOS so that I can install from dvd
When I tried installing from the usb it worked past the error but saying it cannot find the install files.
Clearly, what is happening is that, the pc is still holding unto the usb when first attached.
Do I need to open the PC up to disconnect usb cables....this looks like the only option but surely in this age I should just be able to disable USB from the BIOS??

Try a hard reset to remove stored BIOS information. Remove battery and AC adapter hold down power 30 seconds now reassemble. You might also have to do a wipe of the hard drive from dban in order to remove stored settings in Windows.
This has to be a stored software thing and I hope you did not do hardware damage by yanking out the usb stick. The laptop BIOS are not flexible enough to let you turn off the USB entirely.

  • IMac Windows 7 - Won't Start Up - i/o error 0xc00000e9

    Hello Bootcamp Community,
About a month ago I was working with both OSX 10.6.8 and Windows 7. After moving from OSX to to Windows 7 I started getting a message saying that a drive connected to the machine was causing and i/o error  0xc00000e9. I unplugged all the drives that I had attached went through startup repair and got into Windows 7. But now - I'm still having the problem and it won't even let me go through Start-Up repair. Can anyone help me work around this i/o error and get back into Windows 7?
Thanks in advance for your help...

I should add that I just installed 8GB of RAM to the 4GB the iMac came with. Possibly now that the total machine has a 12GB of RAM the Windows 7 system is confused and can't start up?

  • Error 0xc00000e9 !!!

    First
Ok, my computer used to run flawlessly. I could play games like 'assassin's creed 4' smoothly until one unlucky day.
My hard disk was running out of space so i decided to put some of my game to my external hard disk. Well, the hard disk is very old. My computer could detect it from the device manager from the control panel but the hard disk didn't showed up at
    'my computer'.
And at that time, I was trying to install a game, 'operation flashpoint : red river (2011)'. The my computers run very very very slow. I can barely open folder!!! And it also often crash. And from that time, my pc just gone so slow and hot. My hard
disk are very hot and an program which check disk says it's at 45 degree celsius and above! So, i decided to open up my pc. I have experience opening up laptop. I unplug the hard disk and ram and put them at one side to let them cool down. After that,
i put everything back and when i turned on, windows says error 0xc00000e9. I can't open in safe mode, system repair and every thing else. I have searched on the internet, some says t
hat i need to reinstall windows. I have important and valuable file in the laptop's disk. made an assignment for more than 8 and i have a lot of games. I don't want to lose it.
    Second
I've asked the microsoft community and it was bad, the reply are very late and aren't very help full. I says I  could repair using windows installation disk, but the main problem is that my computer can't even detect my hard disk! It says "No
hard disk detected, if insalled, your hard disk may be frozen" Solution please!!!
    Third
My pc is Windows 7 Home Premium (X64) but can I repair it using Windows 7 Ultimate (X64)?
    Last
During the repairing using Windows installation disk, I needed to choose OS. How should I do that?!?!?!
Please help me!!! I need an immediate and help full reply!!

My hard disk was running out of space.
-> You must not allow your disk to be filled to more than 80% of capacity. If you go beyond 80% then you run into troubles.
Then my computers run very very very slow. I can barely open folder!!! And it also often crash. And from that time, my pc just gone so slow and hot. My hard disk are very hot and an program which check disk says it's at 45 degree celsius and above!
-> Your old hard disk is no longer useable. You must replace it.
I have important and valuable file in the laptop's disk. made an assignment for more than 8. I don't want to lose it.
-> I cringe each time I read a statement like this one. It seems lots of people will not consider a solid backup routine (to an external disk) until they suffer a major catastrophy. Installing a larger disk costs very little. Losing your assignment can be
    a real disaster.
It says "No hard disk detected, if installed, your hard disk may be frozen" Solution please!!!
-> You must replace the old disk.
My pc is Windows 7 Home Premium (X64) but can I repair it using Windows 7 Ultimate (X64)?
-> Boot the machine into Safe Mode, then perform a System Restore to set Windows back by a few days.
Please help me!!! I need an immediate and help full reply!!
    -> Patience is a virtue!

  • Recovery failurr and error 0xc00000e9

Hello,So, I've recently had a problem with computer. My computer is 1.5 years old and today it just decided to run extremely slow. I tried all possible solutions to solve it but nothing worked. So I tried a minimal omage recovery with a backup but it failed. So I tried a System Recovery.  It was successful until the computer restarted and displayed "Windows Files Loading" the first bar loaded fully but at the second bar it got stuck in the middle and displayed the error 0xc00000e9 I/O something error. I am not using any external devices for a recovery im just using my computer. I've tried everything please help me :/

    Hi:
I doubt you can fix the error as it stands.
Please read the info at the link below to see if you can order a set of recovery disks for your PC.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
Recovery disks will restore the factory installation of windows and bundled programs and recreate the recovery partition.
Cost for a set depends on what country you live in.  Normally in the USA, one pays between $15 and $20 for a set.

  • Error 0xc00000e9 when installing windows 7 on OSX lion

I have a mid 2011 model of macbook pro i7 15 inch , and i just upgraded to OSX lion from os leopard . I tried to install windows 7 via bootcamp 4.0 , and the download for the windows support software always hangs at mid point , and must retry several times before it completes. After which when starting to install windows 7 , at the screen where it says loading windows file , suddenly there is an error of 0xc00000e9 , and i could not continue to install after which , even though i have removed all USB. Is there any way to solve this or do i have to downgrade to bootcamp 3.0 to install the windows 7.
    Thanks

No downgrade, what you need to do is head to Bootcamp and delete the Bootcamp partition
Then head to Disk Utility and Erase Free Space with Zero. this will take some time and write zeros' to all your spare space on the drive, it also reads those zeros back to confirm and when it can't do that the driver software will map off the problem sector on your drive.
Once that's finished, use the Bootcamp software again and Windows should install.
You should learn about Carbon Copy Cloner and WinClone so you can restore OS X or Windows

also read this, if your not going to be using Windows heavily or for 3D games, then this might be a better solution that dual booting.

  • Status error 0xc00000e9 PLEASE HELP!!!

Yestarday my laptop (a satellite L450-11W) took a slight fall off my bed onto the floor. I picked it up and all seemed ok until i got this error message:
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer. If you continue to recieve this message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
    Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured
I press enter to continue and then this comes up after loading the Toshiba logo again:
    Launch startup repair (recommended)
    Start windows normally
Which ever one i choose the same thing happens, it will take me to a screen saying
Windows is loading files, it will fill the bar once very quickly before stopping at about a sixth of the way the second time round and will not go any further. It then takes me back to the error screen.
This is the sqme for all the f8 options such as safe mode that have been suggested in other forums and each has resulted in the exact same thing.
I had headphones plugged into it at the time which unplugged from the laptop when it fell. Also there was a CD in it at the time which wasn't running but when i took it out it appeared to be faulty.
Please help as this is starting to worry me now as i have school work due in soon,
    Thanks in advance,
    Danny

I almost alway go into Window MINI xp. If this successfully loads with out any issues...try using a Wireless mouse and insert the Dongle into each of the USB ports to see if they all work.  And the SD Card Slot...may not function as the drivers are not loaded.
If all of this is good. And obviously the DVD-Rom drive is working...then we have an issue where the Hard Drive Heads may have come into contact with the Platter and ruined the Sector with the boot data it needs to continue a normal boot cycle.

  • Error 0xc00000e9, tried bootrec

I've tried system recovery, system restore, and safe mode, and they all return to this screen.
    Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/0 error has occured.
scan os shows 0 windows installations
Fixmbr says the operation was completed successfully
fixboot says it doesn't contain a recognized file system.
rebuildbcd sees 0 installations, but says the operation completed successfully.
I know my hard drive works because I've connected it to another computer and copied files off of it.
    What else can I do?

    Satellite L505-S5990
Good work. That error could be caused by damaged files.
Go back to the recovery environment's command prompt and enter chkdsk /r, which will run on reboot. Expect it to take a long time.
If Windows still won't start, run sfc /scannow from the same command prompt.
If it doesn't start after that, try a system restore again.

    Hey poochokid,
I'm sorry you're running into this issue. For the camera, if it's newer (made in the last 3 or 4 years) you may need to go to the Nikon website and find the camera software that is made for Vista. I could try to help you find that, if you could give me the model of camera you have.
For the Microsoft WPD file system volume driver issue take a look at this thread from another forum.
I hope this information helps! Let me know what the results are

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region. If it's a European model, you could check the Toshiba Europe forums.

  • Windows boot error 0xc00000e9, 0xc0000098 in Lenovo U400

I've been getting boot error in my 8 month old Lenovo U400. No changes were done in hardware or software. It says bootbcd file is missing. Doesn't boot through hardware, but boots just well when I go to advanced boot menu and select the SSD option. The functioning of the laptop seems to be just as good, fast and there's no problem whatsoever after I boot through this. Then why doesn't it boot normally? Why does it say it could not find a valid OS entry??
I tried resettting the boot file. During the process I noticed that the partition with the OS is marked hidden and is a RAW partition, rather than NTFS. Since this error, I haven't been able to use Lenovo one key recovery either. I have never reinstalled/formatted a system with SSD, and am not quite sure if a clean reinstallation of Win OS would help.
    What should I do?

The moment you selected your drive to boot from start pressing F8 button, it should show you some extra boot options, where should be a repair option. Go there, it might ask you login, then there will be option to fix startup problems.

  • HP G60 Vista Home won't boot. 2 different errors.

hello everyone, first post here, hope i can get some help.  I have seen similar postings for my errors, but never both together. i get two different errors when trying to boot, and i'm trying to find out if anything can be done with this machine.
Again, HP G60 with Vista Home installed. The power cord was unplugged and the computer shut down incorrectly. When i plugged it back in, and then tried to turn it on,  it gets to the boot screen and then gives this error:
0xc000000f -- The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
It gives two options, to start windows normally, or to use the boot disk (recommended), which i don't have (i made one years ago when i first go the machine, but have since lost/misplaced it). If i try and start normally it will fail again and it gives the below error:
    File: \Windows\system32\config\system
    Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt.
    I have tried the following:
Rebooted, In the Bios screen reset setting to default values. Boot menu shows HD is there. I pressed F8 to get to the Advanced menu screen, and tried literally all the options (repair, system restore, debugging mode, safe mode, safe mode command prompt, not in that order, but after the standard stuff was getting nowhere i just tried them all) in hopes of getting something to work, but to no avail. Every time it goes to restart and then back to the error messages. Doesn't even get to the Windows loading screen.
I tried to boot Linux distro from a DVD, to see if i can then get to the system files on the main drive. but even after putting the Bios boot order to CD/DVD first, nothing happens, or boot options from the Esc menu when first starting the machine, still nothing happens. Again, in hopes of something different happening, I tried all the options in the Esc menu (the one with like 5 options, including getting to the Bios menu), but other than being able to get to bios menu, nothing else happens.
Basically, whatever option i try in the boot screens advanced options, or Esc menu options when first booting, results in the error, i can't get anywhere past the boot screen.
    Additional Information:
In the past there was a version of Linux Ubuntu on the machine, which has since been deleted and the partition restored to the main drive, however , i never removed the boot screen OS selection, so it always gets to the selection screen asking to boot vista or Ubuntu. Selecting Vista will give the error, Ubuntu will of course do nothing because it doesn't exist, but not sure if this is causing an issue when rebooting for repair.
Sequence of Screens after powere up:
HP screen that you can choose Esc menu from
OS Selection screen, F8 will bring you to Advanced options.
After choosing Vista, error: 0xc000000f -- The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
After choosing any option, error: 0xc00000e9 windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing.
At this point i'm willing to forgo the files that are on the machine, if i can recover them it would be a bonus. Any ideas would be great. would a boot disk even work if it won't boot the linux distro? is there a way to do  a system recovery if the one in the advanced options is not working and giving the same error?

Yo! I have found the solution!
Listen, in advance sorry for my bad english!
If you have Windows 7 CD or USB put it in an boot inside.
Then, first step about language click next
Then, click on repair and wait
Then, unmark Windows 7 (if you dont do this it will scan and try to repair but we dont want that) and click next
Then, click on Command Promt, when command promt is open type next :
(In my case the usb was X:\, and the system partition was C:\, so i will explain for my case)
    1. Navigate to X:\Windows\System32\ (you type X:\cd Windows bla bla, i hope that you know the basics in Command Prompt)
    2. When you are in X:\Windows\System32\ type COPY config C:\Windows\System32
3.Restart computer and hit enter on start windows normaly
You dont need to install windows again
I hope i helped you and that you did understand me

I assembled the entire system and then put the Windows 8 disk in the optical drive.  Powered up the system and windows started to load.  Got a blue screen showing the Error 0xc00000e9 with a possible I/O for the hard drive.  checked all connections and tried again with the same result.  Powered down the system and tried a different SATA port.  Got the same result.  Tried all of the SATA ports and still the same thing.  Tried a Windows 7 Pro disk and got the same result.  Suspected a bad cable, swapped it and same result.  Suspected a DOA HDD, put in a new HDD, this time a Seagate 1TB SATA drive and got the same result.
I did some research to see if anyone else was having the same problems as me.  Followed a thread on another site that mentioned re-flashing the BIOS and the step they received from Tech Support.  I downloaded the latest BIOS from the MSI website, installed in on a FAT32 USB stick and flashed the BIOS with the M-Flash utility.  During the flashing, the system rebooted and gave me a black screen.  Here are the steps that the site listed:
    1. Tech Support originally had me attempt to clear the CMOS. When this failed to work, he had me attempt to flash the bios.
    2. Downloaded latest version of BIOS to usb flash drive (The drive was FAT32). Comes in a zip file. Unzip, and only needed the E7751IMS.A50 in the root directory of the flash drive.
    3. Plug in flash drive to back panel connector while computer was OFF.
    4. Flip the multi-bios switch to the second functioning bios.
    5. Once into the bios, flip the switch to the primary bios.
    6. Run the m-flash.
    7. Once completed flashing, it rebooted twice before powering on.
    8. Computer now runs fine.
Now when the system starts up, I get a black screen.  There are different codes that post on the MB during to boot process with the BIOS switch in the A position Code 62, Code CA, Code A2.  After A2 post on the MB, It detected a change in the system and asked me to hit F1 to enter setup.  I hit F1 and then in went to another screen, where I hit F1 again to enter Setup again, but it wouldn't let me select F1.  Then the system rebooted, gave the same codes but stopped at A2. I also have a an A2 on a black screen in the lower right hand corner, and no options listed.  It sat there for approximately 2 minutes then shutdown.  I Restarted and got Code 9d but the screen showed CA in the lower right.  Then system shutdown again after about 1 minute.
Moved the switch to Position B and powered up got Code 62 and a black screen with a cursor in the top left.  No other info displayed. System shutdown after about 1 minute.  I restarted the system again and got this: Code 72, rebooted on its own after 10 Seconds. Code 55, rebooted on its own after 10 Seconds. Code 49, rebooted on its own after 20 Seconds. Code b6, system shut down.
Moved the switch back to Position A and restarted got these codes: Code 72, rebooted on its own after 10 Seconds. Code 56, rebooted on its own after 10 Seconds. Code 4F, then system shutdown.
I have tried clearing the CMOS many times and get the same results.
    Any thoughts?

Just to be clear, you are unable to boot from either bios now?
Have you tried this with only a single stick of ram installed into DIMM 2, onboard vga, psu, cpu and cooler?

  • I keep getting a (false) notification from HP Support Assistant: low disk space on C drive?

Hi, this morning upon starting up my computer the magnifying glass was hovering over the HP Support Assistant icon and usually that means it is checking for updates etc... but I noticed it turned into a yellow exclamation mark so I clicked on it and opened up HP Support Assistant. The exclamation mark was now in the "updates and tune-ups" and said there were "recommended messages available." Upon clicking this the exclamation is now on the HP messages tab and upon clicking that I am taken to a notification that says: "Low Disk Space on Primary Drive C:" So I click on it to find out more information and it says that I am running out of free disk space on my C drive and that I need to perform a disk cleanup etc...
I went to My Computer to see just how in jeopardy I was in of running out of space on my C drive. To my amazement it stated that I still had 1.27 TB of 1.35 TB available and have only used 6% of my space...
I tried emptying my recycle bin, clearing my cache, doing an actual disk cleanup, and restarting to no avail, the magnifying glass comes back after restart and the notification returns telling me that I am low on disk space in the C drive...
I have come to the conclusion that this must be a false notification but I have no idea how to get rid of it...it isn't a huge issue as it doesn't impair my usage on the computer, however, it is kind of annoying to keep seeing this notification...
Is there any way to get rid of this notification?

    Hello @blackrosevain,
I understand that you are getting the 'Low Disc Space' error message on your HP Pavilion Elite h8-1010t Desktop PC running Windows 7. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Error: Low Disk Space. You are running out of disk space on Recovery (Windows 7), which addresses the error you are getting and has the steps needed to fix it.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
