Error 0xE8000084

I just downloaded iOS 7 today and after the download, I was having trouble connecting my iPhone 5 to iTunes. My phone does not show up in iTunes even though it is plugged in and I repeatedly get the error code 0xE8000084. I have Windows 8 and I have already tried uninstalling iTunes then reinstalling it, as well as restarting my computer. Additionally, I have already installed iTunes 11.

Hey,
Related to the post by Xenus98, if you have an MSI GE70 (any kind) and your iphone is not syncing to itunes, it is becuase the two USB ports on the right side of the laptop (next to the optical drive) are USB 3.0 which does not work with iphones-->Itunes. BUT, the other side of the laptop has TWO USB 2.0 ports which you can use for Itunes. The only issue you may have is if you plugged in your iphone/ipod to a USB 3.0 port becuase it will download the driver onto that USB 3.0.
To fix this go to Device Manager.
Find the Iphone (you should see a yellow triangle).
unistall the iphone and close out of Itunes.
Replug your Iphone into the USB 2.0 ports (left side, but may be different with other models)
Open Itunes and let your phone load into it.
Hope this helps!

    Resolution
Note: If you use a Mac and see these symptoms, follow this article.
    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Install the latest version of iTunes.
    3. Verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. iOS devices require the following minimum version of Windows:
    Windows XP Service Pack 3
    Windows Vista
    Windows 7
    4. Download and install any available software updates from Microsoft.
    5. Connect the device directly to your computer; not to an external USB hub.  Find out if your computer has USB 2.0 ports.
    6. Check that the dock connector on both the device and cable are clean of any lint or other debris. If possible, connect  your device using a different Apple 30-pin to USB cable.
    7. Disconnect other USB peripherals from your computer, with the exception of your keyboard and mouse. After disconnecting these peripherals, restart your computer, connect your device, and open iTunes.
    8. Connect your device to a different USB port on your computer.
    9. Use the Task Manager to stop some Apple Services:
    Launch the Task Manager:
For Windows XP: Press Control + alt + delete on the keyboard.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7: Press Control + alt + delete on the keyboard. Then click "Start Task Manager". If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".
Click the Processes tab of the Task Manager. End each of these three processes by clicking in their names and choosing "End Process":
    iTunesHelper.exe
    AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
    iPodService.exe
After ending these processes, reboot your computer, open iTunes, and test.
    10. Connect your device to a different computer to determine whether the issue is specific to your computer.
If the issue only occurs on one computer
If the issue occurs on multiple computers
    11. If you have performed all of the steps in this article and you are still experiencing the issue, contact Apple or your wireless carrier, whichever provides phone support for your iPhone. To find Apple's contact information in your country, refer to Contacting Apple for Support and Service. If you use an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS, you can find your wireless carrier at Locating iPhone wireless carriers. Wherever you live in the world, you can find your iPhone service options at the Online Service Assistant. You may have questions about servicing your iPhone, and you can find answers to frequent questions in this FAQ.

  • Error 0xE8000084 when connecting my ipod touch to itunes

I recieve this error message when I plug in the ipod touch (2G).  Does anyone know why?  My other ipod, iphone and ipad all work fine with it.

  • When I try to connect my iPod touch I get an error message that the "phone" is not recognized, unknown error 0xE8000084.  Help

I am using my husband's old iPod touch and when I try to connect it to iTunes I get that error message.  It is recognized in my computer as unspecified under Devices and Printers

Thanks.  I had searched for that error message but had the whole number and nothing came up.  I followed the directions and now it is recognized.  The only thing I hadn't done before was to disconnect my external hard drive.  Go figure.

  • Unknown error 0xE8000084 -

    Iphone 5 & iphone 4
    Windows 7
    itunes 10.7
    ios 6 on both phones
I have to reboot pc every time to correct the error - it works once then the error comes back.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    excellent news!
If that works, that suggests that some permission on a file, folder or registry key has gone awry for your user account.
It's always a bit tricky to tell what permission is awry with one of these, so I generally try to avoid "fixing" things for fear of mucking something up ... So if you don't want to have to do a "Run as administrator" every time you connect a device, you could set iTunes to automatically launch as an administrator.
To do that, right-click your iTunes.exe again, but this time select "Properties". In the compatibility tab, check the "Run as administrator" box and click OK.

  • HT4946 Error (0xE8000084). What you do.

    What I have. To do

I run Windows 7 on my iTunes machine so I can not attest to, nor test for, anything Vista as I skipped that half as*ed release.
Now with my love for Solaris 11 and OSX aside if you are able to upgrade to Windows 7, I would highly recomend it. Windows 8 seems to be focused on the tablet/touch screen market and will likely have a low adoption rate for the first several years. Vista was a rush job by M$ IMHO. Windows 7 has been the most stable offering from Microsoft that I've seen outside of their server products. So even though the new M$ OS is around the corner (10/26/12), an upgrade to Win 7 proper is still a worthwhile investment, again, in my humble opinion.
Keep serching for your error and if you find another solution that works for you do back link it to this thread so others can share in your solution.
One last option I would try if all else fails you. Un-install iTunes completely, reboot, then download the latest build and re-install. Make sure to back up your iTunes database first (While it shouldn't be impacted, it's better safe than sorry) and it should be a seamless process.  If that fails to resolve your issue I think you may likely be stuck in one of those software dependency holes that can be very frustrating to get out of.
Best of luck to you and I hope some of this has helped.
