  • Getting error -34 when trying to restore my ipad

I am getting an error (-34) when trying to restore my backup to my ipad after update to ios 5.  Seems to be the same issue as:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3374362
I have plenty of free space on my 64gb ipad but the settings keep getting defaulted to not downsample my music to 128kb.  that would over fill my device. I have been on the phone with apple for over an hour with no end in sight.  I have lost many data files including a recorded meeting from this week.
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
    Thanks,
    RA

  • TS3694 Why did I rec'd error 9006 when trying to restore my ipad 1 in iTunes

When I turned on my ipad 1 today after using it 2 days ago with no problems.  I had a black scree with the itunes logo, photo of the white USB charging cable and a white arrow pointing to the itunes logo.  So I plugged the ipad into my iMac computer whichi is the computer I always use to update, synce my ipad.  The computer did recognize the ipad, but not my the name/ID that usually appears.  The message showed that computer recognized an ipad in recovery mode and only gave me the option to restore which would erase all data etc. But that was ok as I have a backup on that computer. However when it tried to restore, the message said my ipad was up to date, but yet it started looking for an update and then restore. It showed it was downloading an update and said once that was done, it would restore my ipad, then I would have the option to restore some of my data from a previous backup, but after 20 min, I rec'd a message that
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad, an unknown error occurred (9006).
What would have caused this and how to I get my iPad working again?  I have done a hard reset, I have tried to turn the computer off, I can't even get the red slider bar to turn it off to come up.....
    thanks for ANY help

This could be due to a hardware issue. You may try using a different USB port on your computer.

  • Error -42408 comes up after restoring my ipad and now I cannot download my apps I have, I can tick them to down load but is interrupted by the error code. Can anyone help

Hi I have had to restore my ipad which went well, but when it came time to tick my apps to download back onto the ipad an error code prevented the proceedure. The erroe code was -42408.Can anyone help me ?

I have solved my own problem !
If you go to the security serttings under your windows/outlook settings page and TURN OFF 2 step verification then you can login using your normail hotmail password.
If you have 2 step verification switched on, your IPAD cannot prompt you for a security code so it gets "stuck" I guess. Once I turned this off, I was able to add my hotmail back to the IPAD .... HOORAY

  • Error 3259 in update or restore the Ipad

    Good Day,
I've been trying to restore or update the Ipad and I are presenting a couple of problems, making this process could solve the problem.
I have read in media that can be Fireware or Proxy error, and change the settings on both and the problem persists.
Other changes or alternatives that I can do?
    Greetings.

Well, now you know what happens when you jailbreak (yes, I know that you didn't know, but hopefully you will not consider it in the future after seeing what happened here).
Anyway, since it is used and jailbroken, I'm guessing you bought it off of eBay or something like that. I'm sure there's a workaround for your problem, but you shouldn't have to go through that hassle. I would recommend attempting to return it and either buy a brand new one from Apple to insure that there are no problems, or, if you want a used one because it is cheaper, be very careful and make sure the seller agrees that it is fully functional, and that you reserve the right to return it if there are any issues.

  • Lots of Error messages in Console during restore...

    Hello,
I am writing, because I have concerns about the restore of my new iPhone 4. Now I´ve noticed this issue for the third time I did a restore from a backup of a previous iPhone model and I just want to verify if this is critical or not...
After restoring my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.1) I checked the Console for logs and found these strange messages that don´t look so good to me.

Now these are just extracts and examples, but these message occured during the whole restore process, which lasted for about 2hours including app installation. If you need the complete log files I can send them to you on request. I really would like to know WHAT this exactly means. Hope somebody can explain it to me.
    Thanks a lot so far.

And finally - this problem seems to have been fixed with iOS 4.3. Or at least the sync session is closed after it runs into this error instead of just hanging.
The initial sync (after upgrade) failed a few times with this same error message as in earlier messages but now appears to complete.
The console still contains errors that I need to look into:
    FileSyncAgent[184]: UNLOCK /.FileSync (FAILED), httpStatusCode:-1, errorType:100 (domain=DMGeneralErrorDomain, code=100), transactionState:5, txnId:B219557B-F471-4066-811A-0A37A05D4F33, auto-retries=0, manual-retries=0

  • Computer froze during restore....

Computer froze during restore now ipad is not recognized on itunes. Ipad screen says connected but not on itunes list. Tried the troubleshoot steps with firewall disabling/reinstalling itunes. Windows PC.

Typically the next step would probably be to try recovery mode to restore the device again. This article explains how to to that.
iPad: Unable to update or restore.
    From the article.....
    Summary
You may encounter the following symptoms while updating or restoring your iPad:
iPad continually restarts but never displays the Home screen.
An update or restore did not complete and the iPad is no longer recognized in iTunes.

Error -1 is not mentioned in this article about error messages during a restore process: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    This one comes close:
The device could not be restored. An internal error occurred, or Error 3200: This indicates a network-connectivity or traffic issue. If you see this error, wait an hour or more and try again.

  • Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? error 1

Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? I get an unknown error 1 message. Thanks.

I have the same problem. Something happened during the download and froze iTunes. After spending three days searching these forums with the dead iPad, the only thing I got to work was to try downloading iOS 5 using my sons computer. This worked. However I cannot now get my computer's iTunes to sync with my iPad.. It contains the same error message (1602) and has the same problem as before. It is not an antivirus problem. I need some help too

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend this step first if you receive an error 9 when restoring your iPad:

  • HT1212 I am unable to get our of a continuous cycle when trying to update or restore my iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.

When I tried to update my iPad I got an error 9. Now, I am unable to access my iPad. It is in a continuous cycle when I try to update or restore the iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.
    Here's the cycle:
I plug in my iPad when “cable to iTunes shows on iPad screen. It says "Your iPad can't be updated, you must restore it to factory settings." That bad enough news, but it gets worse.
    Click Restore
    Extracting software…
    Preparing iPad for restore
    Waiting for iPad…
    Verifying iPad restore with Apple…
(empty bar under the Apple logo…does not show any activity)
“The iPad “iPad” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).”
Notes: I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) in the last week. It’s the first time I’m tried to backup/update my iPad since the iMac update.
I swapped out the USB cable to a new cable and get the same results.
I also unplugged all other USB devices from the iMac and security on my iPad and still get the same results.
I find it strange that it shows no Serial number for my my iPad 2 when plugged in. It shows “Serial Number: n/a on the screen when it displays: “iPad Recovery Mode To update your iPad without erasing its contents, click Update. To restore your iPad to its factory settings, click Restore iPad.
I prefer to update my iPad, but it displays “Your iPad can’t be updated, you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPad, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes.”
It’s a continuous loop. I get the display on my iPad to plug in the iPad to iTunes, plug it in which ends after going through the above procedure saying an error occurred (9).
So now I cannot use my iPad. When I turn it on I get the display showing me to plug it into iTunes with the cable. Since this is the only option I have I plug it in and the loop begins.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
