Error: 1 ... while trying to open a PDF

I have Adobe Creative Cloud and have used Acrobat XI Pro before on this computer (Mac Yosemite). Today when I try to run it, I get a configuration error. It says to uninstall and reinstall the product. However, while the desktop app shows the app, when I click the Uninstall, it just says, "waiting" then "0%". Then back to normal. Still showing installed. And there is no folder in the applications/whatever/uninstall place so I can't run uninstall that way. How do I uninstall Acrobat Pro if its not actually on my system (for whatever reason). Or the uninstall program isn't.
When I search for it using Spotlight Search it says I have 11.0.09. And I cannot upgrade.
What do I need to kill to register that I don't actually have it installed, then reinstall it so I can actually use it?

First, thanks for the help and input.
Second, I finally figured it out. I have an old mirror drive that still had Acrobat and other Adobe apps on it. My system was looking at that and deciding Acrobat was still installed but since it was not on my main hard drive, it couldn't find it to uninstall it. I'd like to say my Mac is stupid for not figuring it out, but I guess I'm stupider for not figuring it out, either.
But, I deleted EVERYTHING off all drives and am reinstalling all my Adobe apps now. Even Acrobat (which I installed first) works perfectly.
Moral of the story for anyone else having this issue ... check ALL your drives for any copies of Adobe stuff and delete!
Thanks again to all 'cause I used all the tools you pointed to in order to clean all my drives. Much appreciated.

Excel service and OWA - getting ERROR while trying to open/edit Excel documents

We have configured SharePoint 2013 with Excel Service and OWA (Office Web Apps).
After configuring, we are able to view/edit Word or PowerPoint documents from the browser (as OWA is configured). But we are getting errors while trying to open/edit Excel documents.
We are not able to view/edit the excel workbook from the browser (through OWA).
To open the excel in the browser, decision has to be taken at the farm level on what to be used – Excel Service or OWA Server? Is it possible to do setting at site collection level?

You are not authorized to view the detailsI also tried creating another user with full privileges and used his login but still i see the same results.I had installed LMS the first time in non-ACS mode and the second time i re-installed on top of the previous installation again because i got some Apache errors. I dont think that the reinstall prompted me for the ACS mode but from what i see, it is local and not ACS.Do you think that i should try to reinstall again Ciscoworks? Is reinstall better or uninstall and a subsequent fresh install?

I am encountering the same problem -- though with .qfx files from my bank. This worked fine in Firefox 31 ESR, but since upgrading to Firefox 33.0, I get the "<name>.qfx.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read" when I attempt to download. (I should add that downloading PDF statements from the same site works fine, and that the qfx downloads work fine in IE and Chrome.)
I tried safe mode, it is still broken. Tried v34 beta, no luck. I reverted to version 31, it works again.
I guess I will stick with the older version until a solution is found...or just use an alternate browser to download my financial data.

Error while trying to open edge-code-quick-edit.png

I just installed Edge Code, looks great! A couple of issues I noticed when I started using it:
1. When tried opening one of the files (edge-code-quick-edit.png) displayed in the file explorer on the left side. I get an error while trying to do so.
2. The error dialog's text doesn't seem to be selectable, will be great if error messages can be selected and copied.

"The file is damaged and could not be repaired" error when trying to open a PDF in Reader

A few of our employess (only 3 out of over 100 so far) have been getting the error, "The file is damaged and could not be repaired" when trying to open some PDFs. Other people are able to open the same PDF files with no error. It's happening on about 10% of the time. I've read a bunch of threads here with this isue and tried some suggested fixes and nothing has resolved the issue. Here is what I have found works and does not work and the info on their computers:
Computers:
1 Dell Vostro desktop running WIndows 7
1 Toshiba Satellite C55 runnign Windows 8
1 Samsung ATIV Book 4 running Windows 8
All using Adobe Reader XI but we did uninstall that version and tried previous versions and still got the error.
Did Not Work:
As suggested by the company that we use online for claims adjustments where this error is occuring, we tried using a different PDF creator since the files were created using a free PDF creator by the employees. PDF995 and PDFcreator (pdfforge) did not resolve the issue. I then created the PDFs with my Adobe Acrobat, uploaded from my computer to the online program, and that did not resolve the issue.
Saving the file to hard drive and then opening in Adobe did not work.
Turning off Protected Mode and Enhanced Security did not work.
Compatibility View settings enabled in Internet Explorer 10 did not resolve the issue. The previously mentioned claims adjustment software company we use online was code for IE so is not fully compatible with other browsers.
That being said I did try to open the PDF files in Chrome and it also did not work. Same error message.
Does work:
I download the file they cannot open onto my hard drive, open in Adobe Acrobat, Save as a pdf, then email it to them and they can open it via email attachment.
If they close the error and continue trying to open the file over and over sometimes it will eventually open.
Is there a setting in Windows that is preventing them from opening a small % of files some of the time? Thanks in advance for any help!

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

Getting error while trying to open the b2b console

I have installed weblogic server 10..3.1.0 and SOA 11.1.1.1.0. After installation I started the admin server and managed servers. While trying to open b2b console after login I am getting the following error message

ITunes error while trying to open

After installing iTunes on this computer I have received the same error multiple times while trying to open it. The error is simply "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. After uninstalling and re-installing the program several times I still get this same error, any help would be grealy appreciated.

although from two days jdeveloper was opening normally with no problem
but i don't know why jdeveloper stopped opening
i searched google for solution but nothing

It seems that you set up JDeveloper to use a JRE - it needs a full JDK installation.

How Do I Resolve FileOpen Client Errors When Trying to Open a PDF in Acrobat X or Reader XI?

I am trying to open some pdf files received from a client that when I try to open them, I receive an error stating, "The FileOpen client has encountered an error. Please try to re-start Adobe Acrobat / Reader." A co-worker was able to open the same files with his version of Acrobat X Pro. I am not having success whether I use my version of Acrobat X Standard or Acrobat Reader XI; I get the same error with both application.
Any ideas how to resolve this.

FileOpen is a security add-on, which is needed to open some files. Not a part of Adobe software. Maybe you need to upgrade or report it: http://www.fileopen.com/

Error while trying to open Postinstall.exe in Windows 7

I am using Cisco Agent Desktop ver 7.6(2) and Windows 7 (32 bit ). While tyring to open Postinstall .exe from bin folder I get the following error message :
"The procedure entry point NetApiBufferAllocate could not be located in the dynamic link library netutils.dll ".
Can some one help with solution or suggest a workaround ?

Out of curiosity did you try running CAD as an administrator?
Are you trying to run postinstall.exe from this path "c:\program files\cisco\desktop\bin" ?

Getting `No such file or directory` error while trying to open bdb database

I have four multi-threaded processes (2 writer and 2 reader processes), which make use of Berkeley DB transactional data store. I have multiple environments and the associated database files and log files are located in separate directories (please refer to the DB_CONFIG below). When all these four processes start to perform open and close of databases in the environments very quickly, one of the reader process is throwing a No such file or directory error even though the file actually exists.
I am making use of Berkeley DB 4.7.25 for testing out these applications.
The four application names are as follows:
Writer 1
Writer 2
Reader 1
Reader 2
The application description is as follows:
‘*Writer 1*’ owns 8 environments and each environment having 123 Berkeley databases created using HASH access method. At any point of time, ‘*Writer 1*’ will be acting on 24 database files across 8 environments (3 database files per environment) for carrying out write operation. Where as reader process will be accessing all 123 database files / per environment (Total = 123 * 8 environments = 984 database files) for read activities. Similar configuration for Writer 2 as well – 8 separate environments and so on.
Writer 1, Reader 1 and Reader 2 processes share the environments created by Writer 1
Writer 2 and Reader 2 processes share the environments created by Writer 2
My DB_CONFIG file is configured as follows

I should have included about how we are making use of DB_TRUNCATE flag in my previous reply itself. Sorry for that.
From writers, DB truncation happens periodically. During truncate (DB handle is not associated with any environment handle i.e. stand-alone DB
) following parameters are passed to db->open function call:
DB->open(DB *db,
DB_TXN *txnid,          => NULL
const char *file,          => file name (absolute DB file path)
const char *database, => NULL
DBTYPE type, => DB_HASH
u_int32_t flags, => DB_READ_UNCOMMITTED | DB_TRUNCATE | DB_CREATE | DB_THREAD
int mode); => 0
Also, DB_DUP flag is set.
As you have rightly pointed out, `No such file or directory` is occuring during truncation.
While a database is being truncated it will not be found by others trying to open it. We simulated this by stopping the writer process (responsible for truncation) and by opening & closing the databases repeatedly via readers. The reader process did not crash. When readers and writers were run simultaneously, we got `No such file or directory` error.Is there any solution to tackle this problem (because in our case writers and readers are run independently. So readers won't come to know about truncation from writers)?
Also, we are facing one more issue related to DB_TRUNCATE. Consider the following scenario:
<ul><li>Reader process holds reference of database (X) handle in environment 'Y' at time t1
</li>
<li>Writer process opens the database (X) in DB_TRUNCATE mode at time t2 (where t2 > t1)</li>
<li>After truncation, writer process closes the database and joins the environment 'Y'</li>
<li>After this any writes to database X is not visible to the reader process</li>
<li>Once reader process closes the database X and re-joins the environment, all the records inserted from writer process are visible</li>
</ul>
Is it the right behavior? If yes, how to make any writes visible to a reader process without closing and re-opening the database in the above-mentioned scenario?
Also, when [db_set_errfile|http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/api_c/db_set_errfile.html] was set, we did not get any additional information in the error file.

I get an error when trying to open certain PDF files in Lion on Mac.

I am having trouble opening CERTAIN .PDF files on my MacBook Pro. I am running Lion. The file is attached to a Gmail message as a standard .PDF file.
This is my error:
"File "XX" cannot be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format Preview does not recognize."
I have also downloaded Adobe X reader to see if the compatibility issue is just with Preview. I get an error that the file is "damaged" and cannot be recovered. Meanwhile, the file downloads/opens just fine on Windows XP Office and iOS (on my iPad). So I am thinking that it must be some sort of compatibility issue with Lion.
So far, other .PDF files open on my MB Pro. I haven't tried all of my saved .PDF files, but I did try a couple.
Anybody have any suggestions? There seems to be an error with this particular file opening in Lion, but not with the same file opening on another operating system.

The issue mysteriously resolved itself. I shut down the computer, and the next day I booted back up and tried to open the same file, and everything was OK. Very bizarre, since I had opened it previously on this same MacBook. Anyway, anyone have any insight into what happened?
