Error -10010?

"Disk is too slow or System Overload."
This is the error that pops up when I try to listen to one of the logic express demo songs. What does this mean and how can I fix it?
I'm on a brand spankin' new macbook pro that I haven't quite figured out yet.
A lay-response would be much appreciated.

Hmm...I cant even find that error number in apple's own list
(see my post on another 'users' cryptic message)
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6568577#6568577
However I have noticed in my own experience that I often get this 'overload' message when simply plugging in my headphones while the track is playing, I get error -10011.
'System overload' The audio engine was not able to process the data in time'.
I then click the continue button and then the play button.
I suppose that doesn't help much, but in my case it seems to point to a problem with the audio-out device being used.
If i then follow my own advice and look in the console app I see a message from the console messages saying 'audio engine overload' which as you say isnt helpful at all.
I don't think it really is a 'system' overload as I can play a single track loop and get the same error. I think it is a 'bug' plain and simple. However at least see
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305927
do simple stuff like make sure that Logic is the only thing running (shutdown all other apps) make sure you only have on session open etc etc. Also see if you can change any settings in system preferences for 'sound' regarding the audio out...this is all a bit 'in the air' troubleshooting to be honest, but as far as I can see this is an error from the logic software than the apple OS.
but they don't give you much to go on at all.

  • Error 10010 CoreAudio

    Hi!
I've got a session of 32 tracks (I've had much more before), 8 audiotracks and 24 audioinstruments.
When I try to play the song the moment everything comes together Logic stops and I get "CoreAudio error 10010 disk too slow or System Overload".
My audio prefrences are : i/o buffersize 1024
    proces buffer range LARGE
I've also changed the settings but it still stopped at the climax...
    Can anyone give me advice?
    Thanks in advance

    Blay-
Ive seen you answer on other threads. Do you have any other advice re: CORE AUDIO SYSTEM OVERLOAD (-10011) ? You seem to say to get another hd on the other threads as well.
I have two (2) G-DRIVE Q's hooked up to a SONNET TEMPO SATA EXPRESS CARD. I have 2 gig of ram, running 10.4.10 and Logic 7.2.3. I shouldnt be having this issue of "core audio system overload". My 500 gig G-Drives have all my media- my internal hd's are just running Logic. My plug-ins are on the ext G-Drives as well. My M-Audio Firewire 410 is on a seperate buss than the ext G-Drive hard
drives so that shouldnt be the issue. I keep reading peoples responses but they arent so true. Do you have any other words of wisdom or insight on this matter hearing my setup? Im just trying everything I can to figure this out.
    Thanks

  • GarageBand Error -10010

I hardly use my MacBook Pro, though it does have all my main apps on it. I used it to record vocals singing over music played by another computer before with no problem, but today when I tried recording and playing back, the error kept popping up to say my MBP is too slow and asked me to check out Apple's Help to optimizing GarageBand. All the suggested methods + googled methods didn't work, so I deleted and reinstalled GarageBand. It STILL had the same problem, except now it added the Error code 10010 or something like that. If I exported it to listen to it via iTunes, I could play it back fully (unlike in GB), but there was a "compressing" **** noise throughout the whole track.
I am recording onto my INTERNAL DISK not using any extra disks. Tried all methods since 2009 articles (same problems for them...) but to no avail.
My MBP is OSX 10.9, 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB MHz DDR3.
What is the problem and how could I solve it? I've deleted A LOT of stuff on my computer and emptied the trash, and the same problems still occur.
    Thanks in advance!

i having the same problem too.. this had impacted my whole working environment after upgraded into OSX. Typing also choppy, video playback also choppy.. i don't see anything good on this OSX so far on my MBP mid 2012. sad sad sad

  • DCOM error - 10010 - Server 2008 R2 Standard

My server is generating a DCOM error with GUID : 995C996E-D918-4A8C-A302-45719A6F4EA7
I did some research and found that this should be due to Auto play being enabled, I disabled it and restarted the server but the DCOM event is still happening.
Another DCOM event is also generated by GUID B286F068-5B17-4AE8-989B-8F9A199C47BA which refer to an HP printer DLL, no one is having any issue with the printer so wondering why it is logging that event.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Regarding to Event ID: 10010 Source: DCOM, please refer to the following thread. It provided the possible causes
    of DCOM Event ID 10010.
    DistributedCOM Error ID 10010

Based on current situation of this problem, please use
sfc /scanfile command to scans integrity of this specified DLL file. And then check the printer and make sure that install exactly the right drivers. Meanwhile, please find if can update
    the printer driver.
By the way, you can use
regsvr32 <filename> command to re-register the DLL file. Then please monitor if the Event ID 10010 still persists.
    Hope this helps.

  • Disk is too slow or System Overload Errors(-10010)

Hi, It may have been a mistake, but for the 1st time in a long time, I updated my system and software two days ago, after which i tried to runm Logic 9. During playback, I am not getting a random error message that "Disk is too slow or System orverload. This is a system that has operated error free for the past eighteen months, no problems, until now! What really puzzles me about this is the part about "motion Sensor" ! My system is a Mac Pro Desktop unit and not a laptop, and definitely not equipped with and motion sensor(s) at least not that I am aware of.
Can nyone shed some light on this for me?
    Thanks in advance

To repair Permissions, in the Finder, use the Go:Utilities function, and run Disk Utility.
In Disk Utility, select the boot drive partition on the left and click on "Repair Disk Permissions".

So, are you recording /playing back your projects from your System drive?
This is not generally recommended. Instead one should really use an second (Project) drive either Internal (no good for an iMac) or external Firewire/Thunderbolt drive (depends which iMac you have).
Further, the error message you have been getting is a general "Disk too slow" and/or "CPU overloaded" message.
It would be worth keeping an eye on the System Performance meter in Logic whilst playing the project (Double click on the CPU meter in the Transport or use :Options:Audio:System Performance) to see if it is CPU or Disk related

  • Insight / resolution on "disk too slow" -10010 errors

Got this error after upgrading to my 2009 13" MBP with Logic 8.0.2 and 10.6.2. 8 measly tracks with a few minor plugins. Worked fine on my 2.2 GHz '07 MBP with 10.5.8 but no go with the 13", repeatable error -10010 without fail. Reminds me of the same issue I had with Digital Performer which pushed me to switch to Logic.
Currently running 10.6.2/4 GB RAM/500 GB 5400 RPM HD on the 13". Error happens randomly but usually within a minute or two.
    Resolved by...
    1. Installed minimum OS on the 13" (10.5.7).
    2. Updated to 10.5.8 using combo updater, but ran no other updates.
    3. Installed Logic 8.0.0 with no updates.
    4. Tested same project that previously had errors; ran OK, with no errors or overloads.
Repeated same process on August '06 8 core 3GHz Mac Pro. Ran OK.
    5. Installed all available updates, errors returned. Installed same updates on the Mac Pro but it still ran OK. Updates installed that resulted in the error returning are listed below. I haven't narrowed down which update/s cause the issue yet, but since I have Logic on a separate partition and OS I don't care to install updates that are supposed to "fix" what isn't broken. Everything works fine without the updates. Been through this scenario before with Final Cut Studio. My other OS partition runs FCP and CS4 along with my day to day apps just fine with 10.6.2.
Updates installed resulting in errors in Logic:
    Logic Pro 8.0.2
    Pro Applications Update 2007-01 1.0
    MainStage Update 1.0.2
    ProKit Update 5.0
    PluginManager 1.7.3
    Remote Desktop Client Update 3.3.1
    Pro Applications Update 2008-05 1.0
    AirPort Utility Software Update 5.4.2
    QuickTime 7.6.4
    Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5 1.0
    iTunes 9.0.2
    Performance Update 1.0

  • I'm getting the 10010 disk too slow error in Garageband--Macbook running 10.9.1

Hi--I know this error has been posted about a zillion times already, but I haven't seen it in relation to Mavericks yet, and I was wondering if anyone had any current info or fixes.
I'm trying to record audio in Garageband 10.0.1 on my 2009 Macbook (4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running Mavericks 10.9.1. I'm getting the "Disk too slow" error -10010 after recording for maybe a minute. I honestly don't think it's my machine. I've seen so many older posts about possible fixes that it looks like it's something to do with the OS.
Apple provided a possible fix in 2009 for Leopard and Snow Leopard but I haven't seen any similar fixes more recently. Thanks for any insights!

  • Disk too slow and system overload error

I like many other users am having problems with the "disk too slow or system overload error (-10010)." It only seems to occur during playback attempts, seeing as I recorded with no problems yesterday, and only began happening today (granted, I have not tried recording anything since this started happening). I have tried changing the buffer size (still occurs at all levels), and, as per noted in a similar post, ensuring that my computer does not at any time put drives to sleep. All my sessions are stored on an external Toshiba Canvio Connect 2.0 TB drive connected directly to my computer via USB.
My setup (I know that this is going to draw a lot of criticism) is a macbook air with 2 gb 1067 MHz DDR3 ram and a 1.4 GHz intel core 2 duo processor, running OS X 10.9.3. While I am fully aware (I promise) that these are well below the recommended numbers, I have been using this configuration since June without any problems whatsoever.

  • Logic 9.1: Disk is too slow or system overload (-10010)

After updating I kept getting this error: Disk is too slow or system overload (-10010)
Can't go five minutes without encountering this. I'm in 32 bit mode using record via rewire. It's maddening and I am now kicking myself for updating. The song that's doing this is a song I was using working on the day before I updated. I had no problems then.
    Anyone else encountering this?

I have encountered this issue as well. I never solved the issue but did find a work-around. Unfortunately, this temporary solution may not work for more 'heavy' users then I. Although, many have commented that this issue happens even on small projects (as it did with me also), many usually create much bigger projects and are using the smaller projects just as a litmus test. I qualify this because the work-around I discovered is using USB 2.0 to connect my external HDD rather than either of the firewire ports on the drive. So, for those wanting to create larger projects, this solution may not be an option. I won't delve into the details here, but I will include a link to my thread so you can see all the troubleshooting I did and the suggestions that were offered.

Or, you can search the forums for error 10010.
The only other items of note I can think to add at this point is I am still on 10.5.8 not SL. Logic 9.1.1, and I recently increased the amount of RAM to 4G. The work-around has been working for me, and I haven't had time to check that any of these updates fixed the problem. But I will soon and will report any changes.
I hope this provides some insight.

  • Continued DCOM Errors on Server 2012

We started noticing this error reoccurring after I set up a Powershell routine that sends daily emails to us with the errors from the systems Event Viewer log.  At first it was once or two a day and today it was 5 yesterday it was 7.  We are constantly
getting the follow error on our 2012 server:
The description for Event ID '10010' in Source 'DCOM' cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message, or you may not have permission to access them. The following information

Description:  Microsoft WMI Provider Subsystem Host
    Installation Date:
Name:  Microsoft WMI Provider Subsystem Host
    Status:
So Powershell script says it says it is there.  Then how can we get the error message that the DCOM cannot be found? We have ran a malware program on the server and come up with nothing.  Checked the registry key and everything there seems to be
set correctly.  Checked for server updates and there are none.  Checked for Firmware updates (Dell PowerEdge Server) and nothing there either.
Of the 10 or so servers we have, this one with Server 2012 on it is the only one that giving us these errors, or any errors (not including Terminal Service errors), and we would like to find out what the problem is and correct it.
    Thank you for any suggestions.

  • Using a PCI-6534 card, how does one write and read from the board simultaneously after being triggered on the StartTrig input ?

I've copied two NI-developed VI's into a single VI. The first VI is the LV 'Buffered Pattern Input-Trig VI' under examples/daq/digital/653x. Using an external data generator, I send it a pulse on StartTrig, a clock on REQ1 and data on DIOA0. The start pulse is negative going so I set the front panel input to trigger on "falling edge" with clock set to 'external'. This VI is configured as Port 0 and Group 0. Once this VI is triggered I need to then start another VI which is simply the Buffered Pattern Output VI that also ships with LV. This VI is configured on Port 2, Group 1. This VI is used to simply send out a previously d
efined array of data on DIO C0, C1 and C2.
So, I receive a Start Trig, then clock in data, and then immediatly want to send out data. My problem is that I can't figure out when my receiving VI gets triggered on the StartTrig input. If I know when the trigger occurs, then I can wire this condition to a case statement and activate the second, or write VI. Without having the Trigger condition be met to enable the output VI, the problem is that it always outputs without even be triggered. So, where or how do I tap to find out when the StartTrig happens ? In other words, how do I know when the receiving VI has received a StartTrig pulse. There's got to be a way to do this, and I need to run in continious mode, so I can keep receiving and sending out data over and over again. Any ideas ? If your answer is to look at the examples, please tell me exact and specific examples, because I have not been able to find any examples directly related to my goal. thanks.
    Kirk

    Nestor-
I tried your first suggestion of connecting ACK1 to ACK2. But, I get Error 10010 at Digital Buffer Control when I run the VI. I've added an array of 32 ones and zeros to the output VI so that I have some data to write. What's really interesting is when I have a scope probe on ACK1 and ACK2 which are now common, the voltage level is less than 5 volts, around 4.7, but there is something wrong with the signal, a few spikes, I've seen this before, like 2 signals are trying to drive the same output or something. When I remove the connection between ACK1 and ACK2 the signal looks perfect since ACK1 is being driven by my data generator. This leads me to believe that you can't connect ACK1 to ACK2, or atleast you can't do it with the way I have the VI'
s configured. Also, I have a scope probe monitoring DIOC0 (since I'm writing to Port 2,which is Port C) and I don't see any data coming out, which makes sense since I get the error mentioned above.
In terms of my configuration, I have 2 VI's on the block diagram. I have Buffered Pattern Input-Trig.VI with the following settings:
    Group: 0
    Device: 1
    Port List: 0
    Buffer Size: 1000
    Clk Soruce: External
    Trigger Type: Start Trigger
Trigger Condition: Trigger off Falling Edge
    # of pretrigger points: 0
For the 'writing VI' I copied the Buffered Pattern output-Trig.VI with the following setup:
    Device: 1
    Group: 1
    Port List: 2
    #of updates: 1000
    Clock Source: Internal
Trigger Condition: Trigger on falling edge
So, do you have any ideas on what might be wrong ? Just realized that I can attach files, so my VI is attached.
    thanks.

  • Newbie with "disk too slow" issues

    Hi folks,
TOTAL newbie (Mac newbie, audio newbie) here, up front disclaimer. I've just been trying to play the "Numbers Game" demo project in Logic Pro on my new MacBook Pro and I'm getting the "disk too slow" message (error 10010)...This is a 2.66 GHz MacBook with 4GB of RAM. I'm just using the internal drive (500 GB, 5400 RPM)...The system is new, so it's clean.
All my software is up to date...Logic Pro is 9.1.2. The same thing happens in 32 or 64 bit mode, at the same spot in the playback (about 41 seconds in).
I've read various threads here regarding this message and have tried some of the suggestions (like disabling the Airport). I've tried both extremes (32 and 1024) on the disk buffer size, etc...
Like I said, total newbie so I'm probably doing something stupid. Has anyone else had this particular issue? I notice this demo project is rather complex...so maybe it really is overloading the system?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Will

Nope, not trying to play from the optical... I'm not quite that much of a newbie.
    Never hurts to ask
BTW, if you hit that spot and get the overload message, and then start playback over again from the beginning, will it play back the project without incident? If so, you've run across one of the longtime and well documented issues of Logic. Once you play through that first time around, you're good to go.
If it's doing it every time you playback the project even if you haven't closed Logic, then it is indeed bogging down your system. Fuzzy is right, you'll have better performance if you put the project and its contents on an external drive. Also, if you have a Unibody MBP, the HD's are super easy to swap out. Mine came with a 500GB 5400RPM drive, and I put in a 500GB 7200 speed drive, and it makes a HUGE difference. The original drive is in an external enclosure that I use for a back-up. It's a very nice set-up.
    Good Luck!

  • Help with Bugs, Please!!!

To make a long story short,
I first was having problems (still am) with "core audio overload", I would play a project then boom error. Sometimes this happens every few seconds which makes it impossible to do anything and makes you look like an idiot when you are showing someone your progress.
I get the error even with only a few recorded instruments. I always hit option x to get the status bar for the CPU and DISK. The CPU and disk run really low (maybe 5-10%) with all of the songs I work on, then I get an error after which the CPU spikes. I have changed all of the different audio settings some have helped a little.
I have tried to play the sample songs that Logic came with specifically the Shiny Toy Guns - LeDisko and it happens with that song too. I saved the project to my hard drive thinking the issues was having it on the CD. It still does not play without the overload error. I would think a 3.0ghz MacPro with 6Gb of RAM and 500Gb HD X4 (OS on one and logic files on another hard drive) would be able to handle this?!?
I have done a lot of different searches on different boards and it seems like I need to wait for an update. Anyone have something to try?
The next thing that has happened on a few of my projects is Logic seems to be overlapping the different audio tracks. I will have guitar on one track and a drum loop another. If I turn up the guitar volume (which can barely be heard), it changes the drum volume. On another project the drum loop cannot be heard and have not found a way to get the volume up. I have to place it is another audio track.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Please any help would be wonderful!!!
I have had other issues but won't even go there. I am thinking about taking it to the Genius Bar just don't have a lot of extra time.
I am getting pretty frustrated with these bugs and am thinking about switching back to Logic Pro 7.2

Hello there.. I am having the same issues. Right after the last OSX Update the core audio quits and lag time whenever I edit or try to edit anything turns "the wheel of terror" and I am not able to save anything on Logic 8. I got so frustrated after calling Apple and accomplishing absolutely nothing . They suggested I would #1 defragment the drive (done) and roll back the operating system to an earlier version which would totally suck because of the number of pluggins that I would have to re-install or re authorize would take me weeks. The other delightfull errors I am getting are Audio was too slow ...error # 10010 .. or drive was too slow to process data. I have literally exhausted all options and I am a geek and nothing short of re-installing or rolling back the OS that seems to be the best option according to Apple although they are too proud to admit that they need updates are more bug filled than the previous version.. What a nightmare..! If you happen to come accross any fixes please email me or reply to this post and good luck..
