Error 1015 when updating unable to restore to old

I just recieved a iphone 3 g, I connected to Itunes and it said to update to latest version of OSi, this failed with an error 1015. So I tried to restore back to original software and this too failed with same error 1015. What to do next?
thanks
robbie

Error 1015 occurs when trying to restore a previously jailbroken phone or when trying to downgrade iOS firmware.
In either case, this is NOT supported by Apple, your warranty is now void, and Terms of Use of this forum prohibit its discussion any further.
You will need to scour the internet for solution to your problem.  Be aware, that you may never get your phone functioning again.  I hope that doesn't happen, but it certainly is a possibility.
Good luck in your search.

  • TS3694 I have the error: 1015 when I try to restore my Iphone. If it never works, I can't use my Iphone! Can anyone help me out

I have an Iphone 3g, and when I wanted to restore so I could update my IOS system, it comes up with the Error 1015. If you know anything about this, I will be grateful.
    Thanks
    Jason

Error 1015 is most often given if the iPhone has the iPad Baseband 6.15.00 installed. There is now finally, a week ago, complete fix for this problem. Restores the iPhone GPS and iTunes Restore function back to normal. Search the Web for help.

  • TS3694 How do I solve error 1015 when updating the firmware????

Can some kind person please help me with this problem? I have the latest iTunes and I have now tried 4 times to update my phone and I get the same message everytime, Thanks

You will get that message if you tried to downgrade the firmware. It is usually associated with jailbreaking, and if that is the case there is often no way to fix it.
Try to force it into restore mode:
Make sure you are following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again.
If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
When the iPhone finally appears in iTunes, choose "restore from backup".

  • TS3297 how i can fix error 1015 when i restore iphone 3g ?

    how i can fix error 1015 when i restore iphone 3g ?

You can't.  Error 1015 occurs when trying to restore a jailbroken phone.
Jailbreaking your phone voids any warranty remaining with Apple and forfeits your right to any assistance from Apple including from this forum.
You're on your own.  From what other people have posted, it's extremely unlikely you'll ever get your phone working again.

  • I get an error 9 when I try to restore my iPhone 4s

The title pretty much sums it up, but a little background.
While reading a kindle book my 4s shut itself off. It then started, went to the apple screen, cut to white screen, and shut off again.  It repeated this in an unending loop.
Since I had not backed up my Iphone since January, I was frantic, because I had over 650 pictures on there. Anyway, I tried charging it and after a while it started working again.  Miracle of Miracles! So I instantly uploaded all the pictures onto my laptop, but was unable to back the phone up again.  But it was late and I figured I'd try it again later.
The next day, during normal activities such as reading a book, playing a game, or even swiping on the home screen, the phone would randomly cut off, restart, and then be fine.
Finally it cut off again, and went into the dreaded cycle.
Even though I hadn't backed it up fully, I decided to try to restore it. It was the only option I could think of. (I've already ordered a new phone, but it won't be here for 2 weeks, so I'm trying to fix this one temporarily to avoid getting a trac-phone.)
Initially I got a high numbered error message when I tried to restore the phone. So I updated my computers OS and Itunes.  Then I tried again.
Now I"m getting an Error 9 message.  After looking up the troubleshooting for that message, I don't know what to do.  I don't have any periphials on my computer: just the power cable and the usb connected to the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas, or am I just the last guy holding the bag and out of luck here?
    TL:DR?
I have to restore my 4S and I'm getting an Error 9 when I try. Nothing extra is attached to my computer, and the OS and Ituns is up to date.
    Thank you all in advanced!

    Hi there,
Do you have icloud account? You need firstly turn off find my iphone (by go to icloud.com -->sign in --> go to "Find my iphone" and erase your iphone in it). And then you restore your iphone with DFU mode.
When you erase your Find my iphone and if you can not restore, your iphone has a problem with hardware.
    Some infos can help you.
    Kind regards,

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
