  • Error 102 showing on phone but cant back up data

After trying to download an app today I was told on screen that i would have to update the app world software. I tried to do this by following the on screen instructions but have received a message on screen stating ' error 102 please reload software' The phone wont reboot and when I connect to Blackberry desktop it cant connect to my phone and says I need to download the latest version of the device software for it to connect. It also says i will loose all my data if i do so and of course I cant back it up in the usual way as it cant read my phone data.
It seems im stuck in a dead end unless im prepared to loose all my data. Is there any way around this so I can back up the data somehow ?
    thanks

Unfortunately, with that error, it is highly likely that your data is already gone from your device...hence, a backup would be irrelevant. Regular backups, like insurance, are neither a reactive nor an optional activity.

You also might want to do an OS reload. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

  • Bold 9900 Uncaught exception: java.lang.Error

MY BOLD 9900 IS RUNNING ON OS V 7.1 AND I WHEN EVER I START UP MY BB IT GETS A POP UP SAYING: "Uncaught exception: java.lang.Error".
NOW I HAVE RELOADED THE OS AND DONE MANY THINGS TO CURE IT I RESEARCHED EVERYTHING TO FIX THIS ERROR BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK ANY IDEAS ???

    Hi psn93
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
If you already tried reload without success, then you may need to use some third party software like BBSAK to compltely wipe your device and then load a fresh OS pack on your device. In addition please remember after installing the OS don't restore anything from the backup files,do a selective restore i;e , restore only your Contacts and calander entries. Try this again :
1.Locate your Carrier and Download the OS you desire from here and Install it in your PC or Laptop Carriers
(make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )
    2. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then if it allow  perform your backup of your device.
3.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) Skip step- 3 if using your Carrier OS pack .
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
        C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    4. Use BBSAK from  http://bbsak.org/   and wipe the device then after you get the error 507 ( no OS ) then proceed to next step.
    5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path       will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.
Update will continue just follow the onscreen instructions, when it completes see if problem resolves.

  • Bold 9900 synch error

I look after the IT for several small busineses. One of my clients is getting the error 'CRTranDB::AddNew : Duplicate record Id - E3615967' when synching his blackberry bold 9900 to his win7pro bb manager 7. I have limited access to his workstation and phone so I don't want to experiment. Someone else must be having this issue and surely RIM have a fix.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I don't find any KBs that are exactly on point to the error message you are seeing, but perhaps your search will be more useful:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
You might try searching on different sub-sets of the entire error message, and considering other KBs that are for something close, but not quite exact.
Otherwise, I might suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

The upgrade I'm interested is for OS X  v.10.8.5...
...The App Store page shows 2 different upgrades:
Mountain Lion  (10.8.5)  Software Upgrade,  and
    Yosemite FREE upgrade
If the App Store is showing 10.8.5 as an update, what do you currently have installed? The final update to Mountain Lion was 10.8.5, and since the basic OS installation of Mountain Lion is no longer offered in the App Store, that would suggest you're currently at an earlier version of Mountain Lion - 10.8.x where x=less than 5. If that's the case, I'd suggest getting the 10.8.5 update. There is also a Supplemental Update for 10.8.5 and that may be what the App Store is offering.

    Hi rahulharidas88
So your problem is not yet  solved  !  Have  you tried What Krypto suggested on your previous thread ? bb 9320 showing error 102 on updating .
If possible please  remain on the same thread rather then creating new , Try this and let us know of your progress :
    ( Credit JSanders )
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
    Please try it again .
Click " Like " if you want to Thank someone.

  • Blackberry Bold 9900 OS software update from version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0

    Helo Everyone
I tried to upgrade my Blackberry Bold 9900 device software from version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0 but having difficulties. I tried using the Blackberry Desktop Manager but there was no version 7.1.0 listed among the available updates. Even when I tried to do it directly via the Blackberry official website, Version 7.1.0 was also not listed. Finally I tried to do the update with my phone directly by accessing: Options>Device>Software Updates.
It displayed my Current Version of 7.0.0 Bundle 2406 and an available version 7.1.0 Bundle 1149. But when I Clicked Perform Update to download the new version it showed preparing to download but then displayed an error message such as "The download cannot continue because your device cannot connect to the update server using any of the following methods:Wi-Fi".
Meanwhile, I did not perform the upgrade with Wi-Fi because I have an active blackberry data subscrip of 2GB from my mobile network provider.
Please I need help on how to perform the upgrade from version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0 with the latest Bundle.
Thank you all as i await your kind solution.

  • PC WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE bb bOLD 9900

i bought a new computer with Windows 8 OS. I downloaded the BB desktop manager to be able to sync the PC with the BB Bold 9900. It gives me an error 1723 with the following message. "DLL required could not be run. Action: Repair rim Usb Driver. NT.07D232B6_7904_4970_8B22_8FA..."
The Microsoft community suggested I unregister and re register Windows installer. I did that but still when I connect the phone to the PX via the USB it is not recognized.
I contacted HP support and after 30 minutes  of questions the guy suggested I contact BB support. I don't see a direct link to BB support only this link. Can anyone help?

  • Error 102

    Hi,
Switched on my phone as normal, and have white screen with Error 102. I have reviewed the posts regarding this and followed instructions using the Jl_Cmder route to no avail.
The device (Bold 9900) is not recognized by the Blackberry Device software on my PC. I did a recent back up on 1st Dec though so I'm hoping that is going to help.
I've followed the instructions when Jl_Cmder does not work
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_next_if_Jl_Cmder_will_not_connect_and_wipe
but I get to the point where i enter loader.exe /nojvm and the message says'loader.exe is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I don't know what else to do!! I'm new to the Blackberry world and seem to have run across problem after problem but now I really really need some help please!

    Hello,
If you do not have the Update option the device may not be connected or you are using an older version of BlackBerry Desktop Software. There are a few reasons why the Desktop Software cannot detect the BlackBerry Device please reference:

  • Can't restore Bold 9900 backup to Q10

I bought a Q10 and want to transfer data from my Bold 9900. I don't have the 9900 any more, but do have a backup on my PC. I follow the instructions from BlackBerry Link on how to restore from this backup, but they don't work. These are the instructions.
On your computer, open BlackBerry Link.
At the side of the BlackBerry Link window, click your device.
    Click Back Up & Restore.
    Click Restore Device.
    Do one of the following:
To restore all the data in a backup file to your device, click a backup file.
To restore specific data in a backup file to your device, click a backup file. Clear the Restore all data checkbox. Select the checkbox beside one or more databases that you want to restore.
To restore data from a backup file that is not listed, click [change folder icon]. Navigate to the .bbb file or .ipd file. Click OK.
    Click Restore.
All is fine up to step 4. Then I automatically get a list of backup files from the "legacy device". However, (a) none of those files will open--I get an error message "Unable to open the back up file"the backup file" and (b) The particular backup file I want to use is not listed anyway and the instruction in 5, bullet point 3 does not work. It is impossible to use the change folder icon to find a file to restore FROM as it only allows me to navigate to a folder to restore data TO. So how to I navigate to the file I want and restore from it? The backup I want to use, by the way, is a .bbb file from 2013.
Very frustrating, as I have a lot of data--passwords in particular--I want back. Thanks for help!

In Link, you will click on Restore and in the window showing the data to be restored, you will then click on "restore from legacy device data"
