I have 11.1.2.1 installed on Solaris. I can connect with the admin user to shared services URL. All services are running.
I have the Admin Services console and Essbase Studio on windows. I can connect with the studio, but the Admin Services Console gives me this error:

Where is it getting the ldap string from ?

The corresponding user or password having any special characters in the user name or password(eg : UN: admin_epm or PWd: p@ssw0rd)... Answer is yes means, can you please reset the password in Shared services and tried the same in the Studio or EAS, it will work....

Thank you.How are you running Essbase? When you installed it, what userid and password did you use?
That's where you have start. An easy way to test this is:
1) Ensure that the Essbase service is not running.
2) Start up a cmd window.
3) Type "essbase"
4) After some whirring and clicking, you should see the Essbase agent prompt you for a password. The id and the company name you registered the copy of Essbase to will appear. Presumably this is the id "esadmin" but maybe it's something else.
Whatever password goes with the "esadmin" is the one you want to use.
if you can't figure it out or have forgotten, stop Essbase, and delete the Essbase.sec, Essbase.bak, Essbase.bak_startup and the files (or stick them in some place other than the hyperion\essbase\bin directory), and then restart Essbase as in the above steps. You will then reregister the product. Write down the id and password. :)
BTW, if you have security, users, filters, etc., the above step will blow them all away. Given your problem, it sounds like you're in an initial install so that won't be a problem.
Once you have that working, you can begin tackling the EAS issue.

Hi All,
We installed Essbase 11.1.2.1 on Linux server and after the configuration when we try to login to EAS console, we get the following error
Error: 1051012: User native://DN=cn=911,ou=People,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com?USER does not exist
In the shared services, we noticed that there is no Essbase Cluster under Application Groups. Could you please tell us what's missing. Is it because of the configuration issue or something related to Shared Services.

PDF Generator - Error Occerued During Native App Invocation
ALC-PDG-016-004-Error occurred during native application invocation
I receive this error message when trying to convert a DOC to a PDF. At first I was trying to do this as part of a workflow, but then determined that the issue is bigger. I get the exact same error when attempting to convert a DOC to a PDF in the Admin UI.
I've been doing a lot of research and cannot find a solution. Here are some details: I CAN convert a JPG to a PDF using the Admin UI. We do have a turnkey installation of LiveCycle ES 8.0 on a Windows Server 2003 environment. We do have MS Office 2003 installed on the server. I also attempted a TXT file and it gave me the same error.
Obviously the error indicates that whatever part of MS Office/Word it is trying to invoke to make the conversion is not working. I tried looking up the user that runs JBOSS and giving that user full access permission to WinWord.exe and that didn't do it. Am I on the right track? Perhaps LiveCycle calls a different file than WinWord.exe?
I don't think our MS Office install is a problem because it is a standard install and functions just fine on its own. Note, that if I create a new Word doc in Word, I AM able to save it as a PDF using the Adobe toolbar.
Has anyone seen this or have any idea what the issue could be???

[email protected]Its easier than that ....log into the server with the same userid and password that was used to install LC. See if you can launch Word if so then start LC using that bat file. This will ensure that LC is running under the currently installed user. Try creating a PDF. I am suuming that you are using the turnkey install.

RegardsThis happened due to the login I was giving to HAL. This user was administrator of Essbase and Planning but when I logged in the EAS admin console with it, I could not see any application. I'm not sure why though, but changing the user to the one that made the initial Essbase install did the trick.

When sharing my 60 minutes iMovie project with iDVD inmediately message 'The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (Error in user parameter list)' appears. Could not find the user parameter list, so I've no more info about this error.
Option File - Finalize Project gives inmediately the same errormessage.
Also option Share - Media Browser - Large/Medium/Mobile give the same errormessage.

NOOK Simple Touch says "Error Dialog: user not activated" whenever I try to open e-books?
I have had my Nook Simple Touch for about a year now, and I have been using Adobe Digital Editions without a problem. Now, all of the sudden, Barnes and Noble updated my software and I can't read any of my ADE books!! It just says "Error Dialog: User not activated" every time I click on them. I have looked at many other websites and I have tried plugging my nook in to my computer and reauthorizing it, reauthorizing my computer, deleting the digital editions file and .adobe-digital-editions file, redownloading my books, turning my nook off and on, crying, and screaming. The weird thing is, in all the instructions, it says a pop-up box will come up when I delete the files, but it never does. Is that normal? I always have to do it manually by clicking on the gear. I even made sure I "unhid" all the hidden files. I HAVE DONE EACH OF THESE AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND THEY NEVER WORK!!! HELP ME, PLEASE.
Also, a lot of the websites say to make sure your Barnes and Noble ADE I.D. is the same as the one on your ADE computer I.D.. Is the B&N ADE I.D. different from just the Barnes and Noble ID? Becasue I have been using my sisters email for my computer ADE and my email for the B&N I.D.. Are they supposed to be the same? If so, how come I was able to use it without a problem before?? I tried reauthorizing ADE with my email, because I also have an ADE account with my email, but then it wouldn't let me redownload my books onto the new account. Does this mean I have to change the ADE computer I.D. and wait until my books are available again to read them? Is that the way to fix it? UGH!

P.S. I have ADE version 2.0Just to clarify, there are two levels of Authorization -- one for the ADE software and one for the nook. You have to use your Adobe account to authorize both (and they have to be authorized with the same user name). It sounded like your original problem (Kcoline) was with the Nook authorization, and it was the same problem the rest of us were having.
To get your files back, I suggest carefully reading over the "Activation and Authorization" section of the ADE help. It appears that ADE will automatically find your files but note the "Note" in quoted text below...

If it's not finding your files, it may be because they're located in a folder different from the one that ADE is trying to use to find them.
You may also want to check the "Transferring items between computers" section, as this describes where the files should be located, and how to reimport them into your library.

I have never had a problem download a book from the library to my nook in the past. By the time I get this issue resolved, my 2 week book will be overdue and my book club discussion 1/21. I have been to the genius bar at Apple store--not their problem. Two trips to B&N and
the tech guy said he could fix the problem on a PC but not a Mac. It is not a Mac or Nook world. -

Let me also give you the brief scenario of what I am trying to achieve.
INTERFACE FUNCTIONING:_
I have an interface which reads the records in a file in a chunk through ChunkRead adapter and and after one successful reading if chunk it calls the DB adapter to insert the records in the table.
Now these records are committed and next chunk is read and the process goes on till all the records are read.
After this the API is called which does the processing of these records.
Inserting records in the DB is a XA transaction which means if anything goes wrong while inserting the data, the records which are added earlier are rolled back.
ISSUE:_
Now the issue comes when I do the negative testing. Since my file is based on fixed length schema., I change the length of last record from 15 to 13. (say total are 10 records)
Now what happens is when chunkread tries to read the record of 15 length it gets only 13 characters and hence ignores the records.
But the chunkread reads all other 9 records correctly and sends this to DB adapter which now inserts them correctly in the DB.
But being a global transaction I want that if any record is missing from DB in comparison to those in file then whole transaction should roll back.
So I am unable to make this whole process as global transaction. This is because the ChunkRead adapter inspite of detecting the error doesn’t throw it back.
Moreover if this problem occurs in say next chunk then also I am unable to find out how to rollback the whole transaction. Because the first chunk was correct.
So basically two concerns are there:+
How to detect that chunkread adapter has missed one record?+
Secondly, If it’s detected then how should I rollback the transaction that caused earlier records to enter into database?+
Please let me know if anyone has faced this issue earlyer and how it got resolved. Any pointers regarding this would be of great help.

Depending on the logic of Db adapter the error could be traped due to incorrect length.
If the file starts each row with a constant(s), e.g. 01 then you can terminate the previous line on that, this is the better option but relys on the file format.
The other option is a little thing call compensation, ouch. Basically this allows you to back out commited rows but you have to provide all the logic, it is generally something people avoid because of the complexity.

Total blockout! Anyone faced this issue earlierYou need a user to be present in your Active Directory Base DN that will be used as the BISystemUser. You will either have to create this user in AD or use an existing AD user and then specify its credentials in Enterprise Manager (expand Weblogic Domain > bifoundation_domain (right click) > Security > Credentials). You will need to set system.user credential under oracle.bi.system map. Make sure your AD user's password never expires or you will run into problems in a few weeks time!

Getting error The user could not be registered at this time due to an internal error in R11
We created new Organization (that had alpha numeric value e.g. 7777A) using Customer Online to be used in iStore i11 version.
The user account and password was also created for the organization. When we tried to login to istore the first time the registration screen (jtftmplh.jsp) was displayed. After filling the needed information and submitting we get the error:
"The user could not be registered at this time due to an internal error Please contact the system administrator if this problem persists.
Note to System Administrators: View source for more information about this error."
But if we created new Organization with numbers only e.g. 7777 we don't have the issue. Yet we already have large number of organization with alpha numeric and they work fine. (believe they were pragmatically loaded).
The profiles "HZ: Generate Party Number" and "HZ: Generate Party Site Number" are set to Yes.

Vista problem and error createding users.
Hi All. About 4 weeks back I took on a task to install Leopard server in a small office. 5 macs all running leopard and one dell running Vista home basic.
The server is a brand new Mini with 4 Gigs of Ram and the 320 Gig HD. Storage is on a 2T external box.
Installation was a nightmare. I had to install via Target disk as the Mini was too new to boot from the Leopard DVD (10.5.4) then apply the updates while running the server on the host mac using the mini's HD as the startup drive. It took about 4 goes to get it all up and running.
I set up the users and all's well - except for the dell. It can access the shares and read but cannot write, despite having the same priviledges as the rest of the group. What puzzles me (I know too little about windows and even less about vista) is that while the macs all presented a log-in/password box when they first connected, the dell just went straight to the shares. I cannot find a way of making the dell authenticate. Have I done something wrong or is it Vista home Basic that is the culprit.
Next issue, I cannot get a shared iCal to work (but the wiki calendar works brilliantly) as I keep getting told (this is me the admin) that I don't have permission!
Third issue (and this is worrying me), while testing with the dell I created another user with a new name just to see if it was the original settings that were at fault - but - I couldn't. Everytime I tried to create a new user I get an error message -
"User creation failed. The server reported the error '-14120' while trying to create the user"
It doesn't matter what I do I cannot create another user.
I'd really appreciate some help here.
Finally, (it's not a problem - yet) I have to set it up so that all the users can log in from home to access the shares - and that includes the dell.Hi David, I'm back again.

Also, one of the users (who has been perfectly OK) is now getting a Kerberos log-in error and can no longer write to the shares.

It looks to me as though I may have to go through the entire install again - and I really don't want to do that.
