Error 1101 still appers with XP Home Service Pack 3 - What Now?

Hi,
I have received an error message 1101 (corrupt windows installer service) after trying to update Java.
My system is Windows XP Home with (recently updated Service Pack 3).
This error messgae also appeared with service pack 2 , so I don't think the recent upgrade to service pack 3 is any cause.
I have tried Java's instructions to ..........
Go to Start -> Run.
Type msiexec.exe /unregister
Click OK
Go to Start -> Run.
Type msiexec.exe /regserver
Click OK
Run the Java installation again.
This did not work, so tried their next suggestion to...........
If the above fails to address the issue, download and install the latest Windows Installer Service from Microsoft for your respective operating system.
For related information visit: Microsoft Windows Installer
This did not work either as Microsoft download advised as I have Service Pack 3 I do not need the download.
So I still have this error 1101 message when update Java and presume it has something to do with this Windows Installer Service. (actually wondering if this why my pages are taking longer than normal to load also).
I could restore back to before servic pack installation and then try the microsoft download but wondering if there are any other suggestions first.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

I have exactly the same problem - XP Service pack 3 and can't successfully install Java update. I also have followed all of the advice mentioned with "msiexec.exe /unregister" and "msiexec.exe /regserver" and then renamed the files and tried again, and then tried it in safe boot mode, then tried to update the Windows service, etc. but to no avail. I still keep getting:
"Error 1101.Error reading from file:http://javad-esd.sun.con/update/1.6.0/sp-1.6.0_07/sp1033.MST. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
Has anyone with XP service pack 3 had any joy? Mike_Shellshear

I am using Adobe Reader with paid up service through May 2015.  When I attempt to convert a file either to PDF or from PDF, I get the error message, "An error occurred while trying to access the service".  What do I need to do to get access to the service I have paid for?

    Hi DeaconTomColorado,
Please see "Error occurred when trying to access this service" when logging on to Acrobat.com.
Adobe has just released an update to Adobe Reader, so if you're accessing the service via Reader, please let us know whether the update helps resolve the issue.

  • If I let the guy from the apple store set up my iPad on their store computer will it still synch with my home computer

If let the guy from the apple store set my iPad on thei computer in the store
Will the iPad still synch with my home computer

You will be ok if you do this. When you get home with the iPad - do not sync until you transfer purchases if you download apps and music on the iPad before you get home and sync to your computer.
Launch iTunes on your computer and go the menu at the top - iTunes>Preferences>Devices> and check the box at the bottom of the window that says Prevent iPods, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically. Then quit iTunes.
Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes if it does not open on its own. Right click on the iPad name or music that you downloaded into your iTunes library. While you are still in iTunes you can then select the music, photos or whatever other content that you want to put on the iPad in all of the different tabs in the iTunes window at the top. Make sure you check the appropriate headings in the various tabs - such as "Sync Music" - then select the playlists or albums that you want to sync and then you can sync.

  • How can I install my Adobe Photoshop on my computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3?

How can I install my Adobe Photoshop on my computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3?  Seriously frustrated.  I put the disc in the drive and nothing happens.  I open up add/remove programs and I get an error message stating it can't find a disc.  I chatted with Adobe support, and they decided to send me here. Probably because they knew I wanted to spend all day online trying to figure this out.

Download from Adobe's website, install then enter your serial number.

  • My Satellite A205-S5800 Is InCompatible With Microsoft Vista Service Packs

I don't know where Toshiba gets off saying they're compatible with the Vista Service Packs when they are most certainly NOT.  I have had the SAME exact problem with SP1 & SP2.  I bought this paperweight at Best Buy (NEVER shop there), with Vista Home Basic, and ran into problems one month later, when I tried upgrading to SP1 (via Windows Update).  It rebooted, and then refused to load.  I had to reinstall everything.  Again and again this happened.  I took it to Best Buy, and they told me it was a faulty hard drive.  Replaced, the problems reoccurred again.  So, Best Buy claimed it was the Motherboard.  A fresh one installed, SP1 finally worked from stand alone download.  For 9 months, no problem.  Then I stupidly decided to update to SP2 (via Windows Update).  The SAME exact problem.  Files were corrupted.  Restore points vanished.  Always with reinstalling to original format.  I get SP2 standalone to work, and then Microsoft Update tells me I need to update with something or other.  Rebooting ONCE AGAIN prevents me from loading up anything.  Bets Buy now claims it's a software issue.
So, 3 different problems caused the exact same problem.  Always with Windows Update, and almost always with Service Packs.  This is compatibility?  Toshiba sold me a lemon, a giant paper weight.  I cannot upgrade it to Service Packs, and who knows which update next will frell me over.  Especially since Microsoft forces updates on us from time to time.  I have every right to update this laptop to the latest Service pack or other such necessary update to keep my system secure.  What happens when my vulnerable machine is hijacked and zombieifed by nogoodnicks, and the police come knocking at my door?  After all is said and done, and they chastise me about not updating my system, do I tell them, "No, it's OK.  Toshiba says it's totally cool not to.  They think Microsoft Service packs are evil"?  Believe me, this situation can and has happened before.  Machines can be compromised, and police will think it's you first.
Now, who at Toshiba do I speak to about a refund/replacement?  I Lemon Law (via California) you, Toshiba.  You sold me a worthless hunk of junk, and that is unacceptable.  I will not use a system that can't be updated because you don't like Service Packs and Windows Update.  and money was not spent to not use a laptop.

I think your tinfoil hat is on too tight.  If it was a problem with that model, then nobldy would be able to update Windows, and there would be thousands of posts all over the Internet.
Problems are usually caused by software, sometimes installed by the user, and sometimes installed without the users knowledge.  What's the state of your malware protection?  Have you scanned for rootkits?
You also might want to run the System Update Readiness Tool to find problems.

Just added WEATHER to my apps.  Got the error message, couldn't load setup panel 403.  What now?

    Hey Proplusjet!
Sorry to hear you are having a problem with one of the apps. Are the other apps on your printer working? If so, try removing the app and re-adding it. Otherwise it could be a problem with the app itself.
Let me know if this helps!

  • Error 1101 - Cannot communicate with Experion OPC Server

    Hello,
I am having an issue whereby I cannot Read/Write to an Experion OPC Server through Labview and Datasocket, and get Error 1101.
    The Program is below.
    - I have been able to connect to Experion with another OPC Client (INAT) without any issues.
    - The error says I lack the privaleges, but if I follow the instructions and change these priviledges via Datasocket Server Manager, it makes no difference.
    - We are trying to run this program on a Labview 2011 and Windows 7 system.
    - I have tried running this same program on a WinXP computer with Labview 2009. I had to save it for previous versions, but when I run it, it comes back with a 'Generic Error', whatever that means.
Can anyone help me solve this problem and steer me in the right direction.
    Kind Regards,

Have any users found a remedy for this issue?
I am having the same problem.  I have a very simple network set up where I want to use DS in LabView on one computer (192.168.1.101) to read from an OPC server on another computer (192.168.1.1).  The OPC server, DCOM permissions, etc. are all correctly configured, as I can use a third party OPC client to view the server tags and values on the remote PC from my LabView PC.
I am using the "Monitor OPC Items with DataSocket.vi" example VI, just specifying a tag from my existing remote OPC server as an initial test.  I can browse to and select the tag on the remote computer that I wish to read in LabView using the "DataSocket Select URL.vi".  However, after selecting the tag and passing the URL to the "DataSocket Open" block, I receive Error 1101.  (Same occurs if I just directly pass the URL string to the DS Open block.)
I have added "localhost", "everyhost" and "192.168.1.1" to "DefaultReaders", "DefaultWriters", and "Creators" groups in the DataSocket Server Manager.  I have stopped and re-started the DataSocket Server, and even rebooted the entire PC, but the error persists.
    The specific error text is:
Error 1101 occurred at DataSocket Open
LabVIEW: (Hex 0x44D) Insufficient privileges to read, write, or create an item in the DataSocket Server.  Use the DataSocket Server Manager to configure these privileges.
It seems as though this should be an easy fix, given that the OPC server is readily readable by an OPC client.  I would appreceate any help, as would mkenneday, if they haven't already solved their issue.
    Thanks,
    -Brandon

  • Errors with Fixpack or Service Pack for Crystal Reports 2008

    all,
I am trying to update Crystal Reports Server 2008 since I understand that there is some security issue: SAP BusinessObjects Crystal Reports Server CMS.exe Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
I downloaded twice CRSRV03_0-10008663.EXE and the first download is 670.494 kb the second time is 517182 kb... something is wrong with SUPPORT PACKAGES AND PATCHES server at SAP....
I ran CRSRV03_0-10008663.EXE and  there isn't a setup.exe in this package and the downloads contains problems and some CAB are not being unpacked...
I never patch CRServer2008 and I wonder if I need to install the previous packs or patches and where I can download the service pack 3
    Thanks

    Hi Bob,
Here is an article which will give you a clear idea of what runtimes you need to install on your web server.

I TRIED SO MANY TIME BUT THE OUTPUT IS STILL THE SAME!!!You think you should be able to double click a .jsp file and display it?
Tell me, what should be launched when you do this?
This is not the way to run .jsp files. You need to deploy them in a web app on a servlet/JSP engine and submit HTTP requests to that app server from a browser. You cannot double click on a JSP and display it.
    Repeat: It can't be done.
