Error 11503

I have tried several times today to purchase albums and I keep getting an error that says:
"Could not purchase "unknown". An unknown error occurred (11503). There was an error in the Music Store. Please try again later."
What is this error and how do I fix the problem? I updated the ITunes software already but that did not fix the problem.
My anti-virus and firewall were also disabled at the time of download so that could not be the problem either.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

tried. didn't work. still get 11503 error and couldn't download free song. any idea how to get a response from itunes regarding this matter? it's been going on for nearly a month and my money is tantalizingly showing up in my account and not being able to access it is exceedingly frustrating. i know it's not a cookies or date/time setting issue since i successfully set up a regular apple id linked to my credit card and have purchased music. it seems to me that itunes ought to be a bit more responsive to its customers who have issues like mine. just a gentle suggestion, of course. thanks, as always, for your attempts to help. i still have not received a response from itunes engineering and was told that would happen earlier in the week. is there any recourse for customers like me??? amy r.

    Did you cancel your AOL account? That 11503 number is usually associated with AOL accounts that didn't convert to AppleIDs correctly.
    Also make sure you have the latest iTunes

    Here's a possible fix for Error 11503 and for error 50.
    It worked for me and hopefully it will work for you.
    I believe this error is caused by the incomplete downloading of either an update to an app. In my case it was caused by closing the lid on my laptop when I was downloading app updates on a very slow internet connection in a hotel.
    Anyway, here is what I did that fixed it completely.
    Close iTunes.
    Go to this folder : /iTunes/Mobile Applications/Downloads
    You'll find tmp files there. Drag them out of this folder to a temporary folder on your desktop. The Downloads folder should now be empty.
    Restart iTunes.
    All should be fine.
    If it is, delete the desktop folder with all the temp files.
    If it's not, then I can't help further, but that's what worked for me.

    Several possible causes from the info you gave
    Battery level low - recharge it for at least 4 hours till the full charge sign displays (2 prong icon instead of lightning icon).
    Time to Reset the iPod - Press the Menu and center Button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then let go of the buttons.
    your hardisk is starting to give problems, hence the skipping and some song refuse to play. - Do a disk diagnostic - follow this post by tt2.

    Most likely you have to do all, as the iPod hardisk filesystem would have been corrupted, or else the iPod Reset would bring it to normal operation.

    I tried to buy songs and whenever I tried, the error message popped up, saying "error 11503 occurred and try later".
    So I tried to go into my iTunes account and send a message or something, but I can't do that either. It says "503 service unnavilable".

    I have never had trouble purchasing music until tonight. When I try to purchase any music I get the error Cannot purchase unknown, error 11503. Anyone have any solutions? I have Windows XP.

    Every time I try to purchase a song (any song) I get an error message saying: Could not purchase "Unknown". An unknown error occurred (11503). There was an error in the Music Store. Apple support told me to try again later, but this has happened for 4 days in a row now. Any ideas? Thanks.

    11503 error, when i'm downloading past purchases, what does it mean?

    I was getting this error just now. What worked for me was to sign out of the AppleID from the menu bar (under Store), quit iTunes, open it back up and then sign back in from Store in the menu bar. I went to check for available downloads and a bunch of stuff started downloading. I was able to update my apps and update my computer after doing that.

  • CSS 11503 Portmapper Error

    Any idea what this error means? We saw this after we did some load testing this weekend.

    This is a level 6 error, so not really a big error and more a information.
    You probably have configured a group to nat source ip address.
    This message is printed when the CSS was unable to select a source port.
    It should normally retry and if it can find one the packet is forwarded.
    If you get a lot of these, you may start dropping packets.
    With group you somehow limit the possibilities of the CSS. If many clients are nated into a single ip address, the number of port will be limited to 65k and this will limit the number of active connections.

    Disk was bad - received new one.
