Error -120?

Brand new installation of GB3 on a Powermac G5, 10.4.5, I cant import any audio files, all I get is a error -120 message. Happens with song files from GB2 which have had audio files (.wavs, .aifs. etc) imported into them with no problem, also with new projects. Any ideas anyone? Is there is a list of GB error messages online anywhere? TIA.

Hmmm, that's an interesting one, a -120 error is a directory not found, so it would appear GB is trying to look for a file in a folder that doesn't exist.
Can you give more details of what you've done, installed, copied, moved, tried, etc?

Satellite U400 BIOS 4.0 doesn't work - error 120

Hello to All.
I tried updating my u400 with the newest 4.0 BIOS, and WinPhlash says BIOS is incompatible with current system BIOS + New BIOS part number doesn't match system bios part number. Error 120.
It says i should refer to the Help, but there is no .hlp to open...
I know I downloaded the proper file, i've flashed BIOS previously, i now have version 3.7
Anyone know how to solve this issue / had the same issue?

What is the exact model number of your Satellite U400?
I have checked the Toshiba website and I can find different model numbers of Satellite U400 so I think not every BIOS is compatible with every U400.
So check the Toshiba website again and choose your model on the list:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Notebook => Satellite => Satellite U Series => Satellite U400 => (*Short Model No*)

I am running the latest version 10.0.5 through a Macbook Pro that has just been upgraded to 16GB Ram and a 960GB SSD which has made it as fast as ****. I upgraded because I was experiencing problems before and it was suggested that I didn't have enough Ram?
I am using a Focusrite scarlett 2i4 and an Alesis Q61 midi controller. Weirdly, just trying to put a bass line down on a track using the Alesis, the bass sound goes out of tune with the track during recording only. This is very frustrating! I surely can't be the only one experiencing this?

Time lost could be a problem, but.....
Sadly, I don't think that there are any Apple docs relating to networked storgae issues with Logic. Other than a 'school' or 'business' setup, NAS/OD/AD setups are not usual circumstances for audio.
If the issue is one of data backup & security, it may be enough to automatically backup the students local work folders to the NAS.
If the issue is one of the Users being able to work from any Mac and pick up their files from the server, you are not likely to resolve this problem, without copying the files to the Local Mac.

Compressor Job Fail Quicktime Error -120

The program quits before it even starts compressing after I click "Submit" There is no error message or any indication of why the attempt failed. Except a grey message to the side that says QuickTime Error -120
I'm using the presets. Trying to convert a QT movie (Current Settings) to a YouTube file.
Still using Compressor 3.5.3
OS 10.5.8
I trashed the prefs and started over, but the same error continues to occur.
It's odd, this is the first time it's happening. I'm taking following the same steps I've always taken.

OK.. just now out of curiosity I went back into my prefs.
Deleted 2 Quicktime P.Lists
Deleted Compressor P.List again
And just for the heck of it deleted my Final Cut User Data and Final Cut P.List
Instead of putting the word YouTube in the file name for either name, I took that out.
Clicked Submit and renamed the file once.. then the second drop down asked me to rename and I named it a different name with no spaces.
Now it's processing fine.
Not sure what I did, but something worked.

QuickTime Error: -120

Haven't seen this error in the searches (QuickTime Error: -120), but got it this morning trying to export an H.264 video from FCS. Using QT 7.3 and FCS 1. Compressor fails after submitting the batch...the cluster is This Computer. Haven't done any upgrades recently. It worked on Friday.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for the updated posts... the old thread fixed my problem. I don't know where this error -120 is coming from because I had already compressed this material yesterday, I just made some tweaks to the project and was compressing the new version. It's mysterious, but the Reset Background Processing cured my ills.

I have plenty of disk space...just tried to create a new project...starts to look like it is working then generates:

What can I do to get Encore to behave correctly?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? And, are you running it from the 9.0.1 Update?
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Then the usual
1. Running program from an User Account with Administrative Privileges plus Run As Administrator applied to program's desktop icon?
2. Last version of QuickTime installed on same computer with Premiere Elements?
3. Video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to web site of manufacturer of the card? According to the Device Manager/Display
Adapters, how many video cards/graphics cards does your computer use - 1 or 2?
As a first pass at this, let us delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file, and, if necessary, the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
Assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer....

and, in the 9.0 Folder, is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If necessary, delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the whole path cited.

Hi Alaa,
The problem is when you initiated your client push for these clients you forgot to force it.
The machines you are trying to deploy to already have a CCM client or a failed/corrupt installation.
You must re-initiate the client push install for the failing machines, and remember to tick off the
'Always Install the client software' option. This repairs failed/corrupt installations also.
The error code 120 tells you this way:
120 - Mobile client on the target machine has the same version, and 'forced' flag is not turned on. Not processing this CCR ,target machine already have cm client and no force install selected(always install).
1305 - is just that the client push cannot detect which version that is already installed.

Did you look up the error message in the documentation?
PLS-00363: expression 'string' cannot be used as an assignment targetCause: A literal, constant, IN parameter, loop counter, or function call was mistakenly used as the target of an assignment. For example, the following statement is illegal because the assignment target, 30, is a literal: SELECT deptno INTO 30 FROM dept WHERE ... -- illegal
Action: Correct the statement by using a valid assignment target.>
If v_pLedgerID has been defined as an OUT parameter you can't assign a value to it when you call the procedure. Here is a simple example demonstrating this:

Update error (-120)

while updating my i-pod touch to 4.2.1 from 3.1.3 it says that an error (-120) has occurred. If i continue with the update i will lose data. From error code description in the internet it seems that it cannot find a directory.how to fix it?

Have you tried turning off all antivirus, spyware, zone alarm, firewall etc? Then [try this support article|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275].

Error (-120) while trying to backup

I have a 8GB 2nd gen. touch....while charging I was asked to install the newest OS....I said yes, but while trying to backup my Ipod I got the message that it couldn't be backed up because of "error (-120)"....and my Ipod is no longer listed by my name on Itunes - it simply says "Ipod".
Ideas? Suggestions?

Since error is access denied it means SQL server service account ,the account with which SQL Server service is running, does not have read/write privilege on folder where you are taking backup. It does not matters whether you login with SA.
Now I see you are backing database to root(D:) drive. This should not be practiced its a bad practice and has lots of drawbacks. Instead create a folder BACKUP in D rive and give SQL Server service account read write privileges on that folder and start backup

How can I change ownership on locked folder? (error 120)

I had to create a new user after my previous (file vault) sparse image became corrupt. Fortunately I had backup and I'm getting things back to normal with a new user name.
But several of the folders and files on my secondary internal drive are now locked as read only. The owner is the old name (of the corrupted user folder).
How can I unlock the folders to change ownership and permissions to my current user name? I am logged in as an administrator. Whenever I try I get an error code 120.
G5 dual 1.8 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Solved it. Checked the "ignore ownership" box on the secondary drive and I can unlock the folders. Works for now.

Error (-120) downloading apps

I keep getting an error when trying to download/update apps in iTunes (11.0.3) for Mac.
I have traced the problem to the iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads folder. If I delete this, iTunes recreates it for the first new download but after this is complete, the second, or subsequent download fails with an err = -120. On the pop-up it says "The required folder could not be found."
Any ideas what's wrong. Seems like this only started after upgrade to 11.0.3 version of iTunes.

Quicktime Error -120 Any permanent solution?

Has anyone found a permanent solution for this error? We are encoding HD 1080i to H264s via a droplet. The -120 error does not happen every time we encode. We are getting tired of resetting the background process in Compressor. We are getting this on only one of three Macs...

Why are you resetting background processes for Compressor?
Isolating the problem to one machine indicates clearly it's not a Compressor problem or it would be present on each of your machines and we would be seeing this topic much more often.
Simple but tedious binary tests are required to debug this. You start with a project that returns the error and move it to another machine. If it doesn't error out, the problem lies on the first machine. If you bring a known good project from Machine 2 to Machine 1 and Machine 1 errors out, you know it's the machine. But you don't know what on the machine is causing the problem. Now you start looking for likely causes starting with drives.

Here is an update and more information: I actually have two MBP's. One is a mid-2009 model and one is a new, mid-2012. I transferred files from the mid-2009 to the mid-2012, but I use both computers frequently. This problem only occurs on the mid-2009 and not on the mid-2012. I have authorized both computers.

IOS 4 error 120 help

I have tried upgrading this eve but I get the error as above. It then says i can carry on with out a back and lose my information or cancel, I choose cancel and im back where I was, I have checked my itunes libary is in the right place, any ideas??

I just had the same experience with my iPod Touch after cancelling the update process yesterday several times because it took hours and I did not have the patience but was sure something was wrong.
But I chose to proceed without the backup because first of all I took an ordinary backup yesterday, so no sweat (I think) and second of all if I can install iOs4 then I don't think it matters that much - I can take the few hours it takes to install everything again (and much of it is done automatically, eg. all Apps are there).
But then again I just had a new battery installed last week so I had to reinstall a lot anyway, so the loss is not that big for me since I hadn't gotten my Touch up "to par" yet. :o)
