Error -1202 in iTunes for Mac SOLVED with upgrade to Mountain Lion

I recently had lots of trouble with iTunes and error -1202; my summary to Apple support is excerpted below. Turns out the problem has gone away after updating my OS from Lion to Mountain Lion. I still don't know what -1202 is, but the problem's gone. Sympathies to those whose machines can't upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Here's what I wrote to Apple:
I'm having difficulty connecting to the iTunes Store. When I click on virtually any link in the store, a popup window comes up stating "We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
I'm using a MacBook Air purchased new at the beginning of this year. OSX 10.7.5. I've had the same result trying to get at the Store with this machine from different sites (i.e. work and home). I'm able to use my wife's Mac (we share the same account on two machines) to access the store without difficulty. I can purchase something on her Mac and download it to my MacBook Air, but I can't make the purchase--or even navigate in the Store--with my machine. I've confirmed that the time on my machine is correct, and all the billing information for the account is up to date. I thought I'd wait to contact you until I had a chance to update iTunes, but the problem persists with iTunes 11. I've found many references to the -1202 error in the Apple website's discussion area, but none of them have solutions.
Then in follow up to Apple:
I am still having difficulties, and I think I've identified a larger issue. I can't use my machine to navigate the iTunes store with my Apple ID, and I can't use that same Apple ID to access the App Store, FaceTime, or photo ordering in iPhoto.
I mentioned in my first email to you that my wife's MacBook Pro uses the same Apple ID, and we can use her computer to do all of the functions that the other machine can't: I can get to FaceTime, the iTunes Store, the App Store, and photo ordering in iPhoto.
I also created a completely new Apple ID, which has been OK'd by the AppleID website, and it doesn't work on my machine, either.
To summarize: I know the Apple ID works, but there's something about my computer that isn't using it correctly.

Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.

First, you cannot do this if you have a Boot Camp partition.
Second: Create a new partition.
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Third: Install Snow Leopard.
Boot from your Snow Leopard DVD. Follow instructions for installation being sure that before you actually install Snow Leopard you have selected the new partition as your target destination.
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo
appears.
5. Wait for installer to finish loading.

How many macs can i upgrade to mountain lion if i used the free upgrade program

I recently bought a macbook air and received the free upgrade to mountain lion. Will i be able to just simply go to my app store account on another macbook (macbook pro snow leopard) and upgrade that to mountain lion as well?

Not to muddy the waters but according to the license agreement here: http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/OSX108.pdf, Apple distinguishes between a "Preinstalled and Single-Copy Apple Software License" and a "Mac App Store License." The Preinstalled license limits use of the installer to one copy on one Apple-branded computer. The Mac App Store License allows the installation of "one (1) copy of the Apple Software directly on each Apple-branded computer running OS X Lion or OS X Snow Leopard (“Mac Computer”) that you own or control." Since in either case, the free upgrade is going to be coming from the Mac App Store it would seem that the Mac App Store License applies. But since the intent of the free upgrade is to serve as an inducement to buy a computer with a soon to be replaced OS by offering a free upgrade of the OS preinstalled on the purchased computer, perhaps it is covered by the Preinstalled wording. The Terms and Conditions of the upgrade program are unclear on that but maybe it becomes a matter of how the content code that's issued works. If the content code can be used more than once with your Mac App Store account or if the Mountain Lion installer appears as available for installation when you log into your Mac App Store account on a Mac different from the one that qualified you for the upgrade, then it would seem that the Mac App Store License is what applies here. Of course I'm no lawyer; if I was, I'm sure it would be even more complicated.

Lost SD card files for Final Cut after upgrading to Mountain lion

I use a 2010 Mac Pro with a My Book external. I copy all of my SD card recordings onto the external HD until I am ready to use them in Final Cut. Then I log and transfer straight from the external. I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and now I can no longer log and transfer those files that i previously added. I just now copied a new recording onto the External and it is doing the same thing. When i open the folder of the recording, all that is there is the AVCHD file. I can log and transfer straight from the card, but not from the copied files.
Why would this happen and how can I fix it? I need it right now and cannot do anything.

It was Snow Leopard. I didn't know you can make a clone, I've never had to do that in the past, have never encountered anything like this before, so I didn't even know that was an option. Guess I screwed that up.
I use Final Cut Pro 7 and a 6TB firewire external, the computer itself has 2 internals that are 1TB each. I do all of my work off of the external, I thought that it was the problem because what i need to use is already on the external. So I took a SD card that I haven't copied onto the external, plugged it straight into the computer and tried it from there, it's the same no matter where I go with it. FCP will take it in log and transfer only off of the card itself, but if you just double click on the card "no name", all it shows is a QT, nothing else. I have read all day about this exact problem others are having but cannot find a solution. I even saw a youtube that a fellow made about how he was on the phone with apple all day long and still got nowhere. I sure wish I knew this beforehand because I never would have bothered to upgrade. Everything I read was about how Mountain Lion has caused it and sure enough, it all matches what I have dealt with all day. The only thing I know to do is to wipe it off and start over with SL. I hate to do that but I really need those files and cannot use them at all now.
The reason I have a firewire external is because I was told by someone at a TV station that knows Final Cut to make sure that's what i used.

Intall Error - Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Mac OSX (10.8.4) Mountain Lion

I cannot install Adobe Acrobat X Pro on my Mac running Mountain Lion. The install file is through my university. The Installer runs like normal but end with the following screen:
I can send the lntall log if necessary. I have turned off Gatekeeper so it cannot be that. What is wrong??

Thanks for your response. However, I do not have any other version of Adobe Acrobat installed. I even tried to remove Adobe Reader, but same response. The only other Adobe product I have installed is Adobe Air, but that should not have any effect.
Any other tips?

Lost iTunes files, iPhoto files after upgrade to mountain lion.

I'm an idiot I didnt back anything up...
I upgraded from lion to mountain lion. At first the set up screen would not accept my apple id password so I created a blank(new) account just to get the computer to work.
It works ok but all my desktop files have disappeared, iPhoto files have gone and iTunes (although the drive has the files) is blank. I'm feeling a bit sick cause all my holiday snaps from my iPhone and all my preferences have just disappeared...
Loads of important stuff on the desktop has gone as well.
When I try to search for "all files" it says they have gone too. But that can't be right...right?
It's a disastor can anyone help?

You say if I understand correctly that the files are still on the disk, if so you may be able to reassign them to another account. See this link but read carefully before you try it and backup those files now before you start. Hopefully taking a clone of your disk will backup your old data but again check that they are one the cloned drive before any changes are made.

Mail mailboxes disappeared with upgrade to Mountain Lion

I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion a couple of days ago. Yesterday everything was fine, but today my Mail mailboxes have all disappeared--they're just not there. Years of carefully filed correspondence! How do I get them back? I back up with Time Machine to a Time Capsule.

Installation for Mac OS 10.8.3 Mountain Lion

After following all the steps I reached this point in Troubleshoot: Progress bar hangs while installing Flash Player. I have uninstalled Flash Player. Downloaded Flash Player installer and double-clicked the installer. The Install Adobe Flash Player icon appeared. Right-clicked the Install Adobe Flash Player icon and click Show Package Contents. Move to the Contents > Resource folder. I could not find Adobe Flash Player.Pkg file in Resources folder. What should I do now.?

However, my question does not refer to iPhoto itself, but to the Mac Screensaver configuration using the iPhoto Library as the source from which the screensaver will pick up the photos to display. When I go to System Preferences, and then to Desktop and Screensaver, this is the window that pops up:
See that I have selected the last item as source.
"Behind" the Source drop down list, the only setting available for the screensaver is Shuffle slide order (or not):
The other settings you can change refer to when you wish the screensaver to start, Show clock and Define Hot Corners.
But it does not offer the alternative of changing the interval length between photos so that I can make each photo stay on screen for a longer period of time than the screensaver's default.
I wanted to know if there is some way of achieving this.

No progress from less than a minute, with upgrade to mountain lion.

I've had my install running all night, its gotten to the part which says 'less than a minute remaining" and has ceased progress, the bar is still moving to indicate the computer is responsive.
Basically my issue is this; do i restart the computer knowing that i might damage the hard-drive, with no back-up, or should i just wait it out for another day or so........
Not keen to damage the HD because i only got this one a few months ago (as i killed the last one, unknown reason)
The comp only has ~50gb of data on it, it can hold near 500gb so overloading it isnt the issue. 4gb RAM i think.

I also ment to tell you that you get 90 days of phone support on your ML so you can call apple care and they will help you out. Just let them know you purchased it.
I would wait untill the morining and then if that doens't work call apple care. but at this point it's looking like you might need to restart the computer either way. You really don't have any other options.
