Error -1202

Please can anyone tell me how to get rid of error -1202 when I try to Edit my account details. I have asked on another site and keep being told to check my time and date. I have checked and rechecked and also changed date and time formats several times and no luck. I have sent a screen capture to Apple, showing the exact error and so far they have drawn a blank, although they are still checking for me.
I can use my itunes normally ie importing and downloading etc, I can access my personal details, just not change them.
I have looked through my advanced settings and checked the SSL3.0 box which now allows me to sign in and sign out. I could not do this before but the error still comes up.
I have (with my limited knowledge) checked my firewalls to make sure there is no conflict etc with 2 security systems running. Windows and Norton.
I have been advised to download a registry cleaner or a 1202 fix kit. I do not know any of these sources, so I am reluctant to do so.
Many thanks

I too am having this issue. Just trying to subscribe gives the same error. In fact, I am now unable to even locate the podcast feed url to embed in another application. Had to take a convoluted path in the past, now that doesn't even work. What's going on Apple? Long time owner and user on both Mac and PC -- now both are problematic

  • I can't get my itunes store to work, it keeps giving the error (-1202)

    Hello,
I'm really frustrated as I cannot get my itunes store to work, I've had problems with it for a while now and only just manged to get past one error, (error -9808), only to now get the error -1202. I'm running the most up to date version of itunes as I have just downloaded it, (I know it worked as I can now see the cloud feature on the menu), but no images appear on any of the interfaces; only small blue boxes with question marks in them. Plus all the text appears in a plain font that I know is not how it should appear. My own music collection is perfectly accessible, it's just the itunes store that shows the error message. I have unchecked the 'check for server revocation' box in internet options and restarted, and have checked my date and time are correct. I've tried to use a root certificate update as suggested in older threads but can't find one accepted as 'current' to run.
Any help appreciated, I really really need to update my iPhone, still on version 4.3.3 : (
    Thanks!

Go to Settings >  App Store
    Tap on your Apple ID
    Sign out
Sign back in with the correct ID and password.
Then reboot your iPad:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  You won't lose any data or settings.
See if you can use the App Store normally after your iPad comes back up.

  • Error -1202 in iTunes for Mac SOLVED with upgrade to Mountain Lion

I recently had lots of trouble with iTunes and error -1202; my summary to Apple support is excerpted below.  Turns out the problem has gone away after updating my OS from Lion to Mountain Lion.  I still don't know what -1202 is, but the problem's gone.  Sympathies to those whose machines can't upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Here's what I wrote to Apple:
I'm having difficulty connecting to the iTunes Store.  When I click on virtually any link in the store, a popup window comes up stating "We could not complete your iTunes store request.  An unknown error occurred (-1202).  There was an error in the iTunes Store.  Please try again later."
I'm using a MacBook Air purchased new at the beginning of this year.  OSX 10.7.5.  I've had the same result trying to get at the Store with this machine from different sites (i.e. work and home).  I'm able to use my wife's Mac (we share the same account on two machines) to access the store without difficulty.  I can purchase something on her Mac and download it to my MacBook Air, but I can't make the purchase--or even navigate in the Store--with my machine.  I've confirmed that the time on my machine is correct, and all the billing information for the account is up to date.  I thought I'd wait to contact you until I had a chance to update iTunes, but the problem persists with iTunes 11.  I've found many references to the -1202 error in the Apple website's discussion area, but none of them have solutions.
Then in follow up to Apple:
I am still having difficulties, and I think I've identified a larger issue.  I can't use my machine to navigate the iTunes store with my Apple ID, and I can't use that same Apple ID to access the App Store, FaceTime, or photo ordering in iPhoto.
I mentioned in my first email to you that my wife's MacBook Pro uses the same Apple ID, and we can use her computer to do all of the functions that the other machine can't:  I can get to FaceTime, the iTunes Store, the App Store, and photo ordering in iPhoto.
I also created a completely new Apple ID, which has been OK'd by the AppleID website, and it doesn't work on my machine, either.
To summarize:  I know the Apple ID works, but there's something about my computer that isn't using it correctly.

You can use the balance of a redeemed iTunes gift card to purchase Mountain Lion.
Keep in mind of any applicable taxes and or fees that may be added to the purchase price.

  • Error 1202: All potential solutions summarized and tried - can anyone offer new ideas?

    Hi all,
I'm seriously desperate here. The extent to which Apple pretends that the Error 1202 issue doesn’t affect hundreds of people is truly puzzling – despite there being over 8 pages of requests for help on the Apple Community dating back to 2011, and numerous views of these, the Apple iTunes Errors Troubleshooting page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1424 still doesn’t even list the issue. Customer service? I think not.
Both the Apple Tech Support and iTunes Store Support teams have been unhelpful with regards to the Error 1202 issue, which in my case applies to two situations: a) I try to amend my account details b) I try to download anything from the iTunes store. I had really hoped the engineers worked a fix for this into v. 10.7, but that didn't happen.
But enough moaning - I really hope there's a tech wizard out there who can help all of us with this issue.
To recap, I run Windows 7, 64-bit on my machine. The Error 1202 problem became permanent around June 2012 after I downloaded an iTunes update – I’m not sure if there’s a causal link, however, because before that, it came up intermittently but somehow disappeared as quickly as it appeared without me really doing anything to my system, which suggests it’s an iTunes Store issue.
Since then, I've tried a number of reinstalls of iTunes, even going back to MUCH earlier versions (10.5.3 as recommended by some), but this has not fixed things. I’ve just suggested it’s an iTunes store issue, but the thing is that I can access my account and download things using my iPhone, which suggests that there’s an issue with my computer. However, on the other hand, my partner runs a Dell with Windows Vista installed, and she has the same problem. The only software in common between the two machines is our AVG security/firewall, but it can’t be this, as I’ve uninstalled it and reinstalled iTunes without it, to no effect. So I’m back to wondering if this is an iTunes Store issue.
To list everything I've tried so far:
    * I've checked the internet date and time on my computer - it's correct
    * I’ve unticked the Server Revocation Certificate option in Explorer’s Advanced Internet Options – that’s not the problem either
    * It’s definitely not my firewall (AVG in my case) – I’ve tried using iTunes with it disabled; I’ve uninstalled it; I’ve used Windows Firewall – none of these combinations changed anything
    * I've run the "Fix it for me" plug, recommended here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798 and which seems to have worked for many iTunes users
    * When uninstalling iTunes, I’ve uninstalled all of the different Apple programs associated with it, e.g. Bonjour etc – I’ve even uninstalled these in a very specific order as recommended by an Apple Techie, without results
    * I've checked for the unwanted registry item in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers - I don't have anything related to iTunes there that can/should be deleted
*The following sites are in my trusted websites option in Internet Explorer, so it’s not that:
    albert.apple.com; ax.init.itunes.apple.com; ax.itunes.apple.com; ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net; gs.apple.com; itunes.apple.com; phobos.apple.com
    * Some users have suggested that there’s a clash between 32-bit and 64-bit softwares. I’ve been using the 64 bit iTunes installer throughout; I also don’t have a 32 bit video accelerator that could be clashing with iTunes.
    * I’ve run a registry cleaner, which hasn’t fixed the problem
    * I’ve flushed the DNS as recommended by some, with no result
    * I’ve run the root certificate update, as recommended by some users, with no result (see http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3237)
So, as you can see, I’ve tried everything that’s currently listed on the community, without getting anywhere. Any further ideas?

Thanks for the votes of support on this issue!
I approached iTunes again about this and I gave them a link to this list of things that I'd already tried. Do you think they paid any attention to it -- they literally responded and asked me if I'd checked my internet connection. After about the fourth round in this entire saga, they again washed their hands of it, saying that a "senior" technician couldn't resolve the issue.
Then bizarrely, to end the email, they said I could get in touch with their tech team, to try and resolve the issue ... but I HAD BEEN TALKING to the tech-team.
Engaging with this company's customer support team is like being caught in a kafkaesque story, constantly following leads through a hopeless maze of empty advice that leads nowhere. If they were a bank, they'd be bankrupt a long time ago.
Having said all that, I now use Spotify for my music, which is cheaper and they have a better range, and their downloads are standard mp3, so it can play on anything. For movies, well, netflix and love film in combo do the trick just as well. So aside from missing access to Podcasts, I've moved on. Perhaps you should too.

This solved my questionRe: iTunes Error (-1202)
    Dec 28, 2012 6:35 PM (in response to crossi85)
I am having the same issue on my iMac.  It occurred after the last iTunes update.  Apple support offered no real solution.  They tried "clearing" my Wish List, but that didn't work, and advised me to re-install iTunes.  However, I tried clicking the "My Wish List" link on the right side of the iTunes Home page, instead of the one I usually use under the "Manage" column near the bottom of the screen - and it worked!  Furthermore, my Wish List was still intact even though they had supposedly cleared it.  So, in my case, the problem appears to be the iTunes site, and not my computer.  My solution: Try accessing the Wish List from a different link within iTunes.

  • I fixed Error (-9808) but can't fix Error (-1202)

    I had Errors 9808 and 1202.
    - I couldn't redeem a gift card, but I right clicked the "redeem" link and copied it into my browser (Google Chrome) address bar and was able to redeem it.
    Error 9808 Solved!
    - I couldn't buy a song because when I click buy, it asks me to sign in, then asks me to confirm my billing method information. When the billing information page loads, I go to choose my methods, but whatever I click on that page, a box pops up giving me Error 1202.
I went to Control Panel - Internet Options - and changed the couple advanced settings.
I downloaded the very latest version of iTunes (what, 10.5 I believe?)
I changed my computer's security settings to allow iTunes.
---- I'm aware that others are having this issue, but I am tech-savvy and still cannot fix this issue.
Please respond with help. If you're having the same problem, just bookmark the discussion.
Telling me you have the same problem and don't know what to do, honestly helps nobody
    Thank You In Advance!

    Problem Solved!!!
To solve the issue, I got on the iTunes App on my iPod and chose the billing method, so then when I got back on iTunes on my PC, it was ready to go and I bought all my music
Hope this may help anyone with the same problem!

Hi Jen.  My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse.  Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too.  Now to the problem at hand.  I have the same problem.  I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade.  Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade.  But I'm sure other factors are involved.  Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem:  What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it.  Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade.  Hope this works.   Charlie
