Error 13 = Blue Screen of Death?

Thought I'd try this board and see if anyone knows anything about 'error 13' and Panther.
I have been plagued by this error message which pops up whenever I try to print from either of my printers or burn a CD. This all happened after I tried to load a demo version of Adobe Illustrator CS2.
Over the last day I have tried the following:
* deleted the apple.com.print preferences
* reset the PRAM
* unplugged, unpowered and restarted the printers and their USB connections
* deleted the printers from the print setup utility and tried to reinstall them (but there too I get the 'error 13' message. Printers won't load but they do show up as if they loaded. Just won't work, that's all.
* tried logging in as a new user, and then the printer message is "Not enough RAM" to print.
* repaired the disk permissions from the CD
Generally I've done everything I can think of... except to reload the OS, which I hesitate to do because I have to first load Jaguar, then the Panther update, then the other updates. Last time I tried that things didn't quite work out.
I do have an external backup drive, which also got corrupted as I tried loading the Adobe Illustrator CS2 on that disk too. Dumb I know...
So... anyone know what 'error 13' means?
Is 'error 13' the Mac equivalent of the Windows Blue Screen of Death?
Thanks for any input...

Hello Pawel,
I have looked over the service request you mentioned about acquiring 2 PCIe-6537 at 20MHz sampling rate on all 32 lines. In order to narrow down this issue, I think it would be best to try only acquire from both cards without doing any triggerring etc. Also when performing this test, I would only want to acquire from 8 channels on both cards to see if this reproduces it. If this works, we can slowly add more elements to narrow down what the issue is and make us more effective to solve the problem.
I also wanted to ask if you have tried this setup on another machine and if it worked.
Along with this, have you tried to create two Digital Tasks in MAX and try to acquire for the same amount of time to see if the issue reoccurs here? This would tell us if this problem is connected to the driver/computer or LabVIEW.

  • Nv4_disp.dll errors blue screen of death photoshop cs4 bridge

Sometimes, when opening psd files from bridge in cs4 I am getting the Blue Screen of Death and a message stating the cause is nv4_disp.dll errors.   This started occurring a few days ago.
Environment: XP Pro, nvidia 7900 GS video card, nvidia driver version 6.14.11.9038. [ 190.38].
Anyone else experience this and has a solution?

I bet you'll sudennly get this error without doing that to cause it soon aswell. I had a very similar problem with BSoD and Nvidia display drivers on 9800GTX GPU. It started just doing it one day completely out of the blue. Unfortinatly, i'm still not sure what caused it, but it seemed when looking around the web that it was in fact faulty drivers, but not necisarily the graphics card drivers, just a conflict with them for somthing trying to work with them.
For me, i did everything under the sun and it worked.
    1. Get Spybot Search & Destroy, COMODO antivirus, Windows Live Onecare 30day free trial, and scan your system with each of them. Each one for me found soemthing new which was fairly unsettling.
    2. Re-install GPU drivers, re-install graphics tablet drivers if you have one, because that was thelast thing i had changed since i startd to get them, but it was a good few weeks afterwards, and it didn't fix it doing that anyway, but it may have helped somthing else work properly so just to be safe. Re-install anything you last installed, or remove it if you are willing.
    3. Disk defragment, Disk Cleanup, and run Clean Up Utilities. To help track down other problems, you can also download Regmon for windows made by microsoft: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896652.aspx you can see what your computer is douing in the registery. The other one to download is Filemon, which is the same thing but shows what your computer processes are doing. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896642.aspx
Good luck, but presistence in not wanting to re-install windows will overcome it evertually

Without the Minidump Files to help us isolate the cause of the errors you are experiencing there is no way to provide assistance specific to your situation.
One of the most common causes of errors are drivers. You have already mentioned that you have upgraded your graphics driver to the latest version provided by the manufacturer, updating other drivers like network, chipset, and storage controllers is a good
next step. If no driver updates resolve your issue and you have already looked into security software as a possible cause, another direction to take would be to review your hardware for possible failures. You can diagnose your memory by
entering “Diagnose your computer’s memory problems” at the start screen and selecting the result. You can also diagnose your storage devices by
right clicking the storage device in File Explorer, selecting properties, and selecting Error Checking.

  • Stop Error / Blue Screen of Death... Please Help

    Hello,
I have been having problems with my desktop computer ever since I Installed the BT Total Broadband software.
I have seen a similar topic regarding the Stop error and BSOD,but the problem there appears to be with a wireless connection with a laptop. I, on the other hand, am using an ethernet cable connection with a desktop, so I am not sure if the fix will also work for me.
The problem I have am having is that my computer frequently either resets or BSOD's, with an IRQ_Less_Or_Equal message. This usually occurs within minutes of any kind of internet navigation, and after it has occured once, the problem seems to persist, causing my computer to freeze during bootup, or crashing/resetting shortly after windows (eventually) loads successfully.
Please help, this is driving me crazy!

Thanx again for the replies guys, this is all very helpful!
Firstly, Im running windows XP, SP3.
Also, I have to admit the inside of my computer is quite dusty and could use a good clean.
Finally, its interesting to note that although my computer has a habit of crashing/resetting/BSODing quite regularly during online activity, sometimes the system seems to stabilise, and will run perfectly well for hours at a time.
However I have reached a point where the continual errors, and the resulting 100x crashes and windows failing to load has driven me to seek professional help (here, not a pyschiatrist )

  • Blue screen of death - Error message included

I have searched on the forum and found nothing exactly like my situation.  I am running Labview 7.1 in a test bay through the NI chassis with an embedded controller.  The system basically reads up to 100 RTD, and 224 pressure readings and then writes them to a network computer.  Every so often, we get the "blue screen of death" when running the program.  Sometimes there are problems with the network computer, so there is am option inside the program to send all the data to the local hardrive.  This is basically how we check to see if the problem is related to the network, or if it is the Labview system.  However, the network has never been the cause of the blue screen of death(since we have also received the blue screen while writing to the local hardrive).  Furthermore, the system only gives the blue screen ever so often, not all the time.  The error message is attached, and seems to be memory related.  I should also mention that we run two labview program at the same time, one controls a series of valves, and the other displays all the data be recorded the the network computer.  After about 10 reboots, as a desperate attempt, we only ran the valve program, and it seemed to work, but it may just be luck.  Another attempt was and option in windows(XP) called "paging" which we turned off.  Last I know the system was working, but under the above mentioned conditions which will not work for day to day testing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Last day, dec 14th, a blue screen of death appears on my iphone 5s, aparently because I was installing facebook app.
After that, the iphone remains restarting over and over non stop, until the battery shutoff.

After that, with battery charged, I tried to hold the home button and simultaneously connect to an usb cable (the cable is in perfect conditions) to start itunes.

    What can I do now?!
    Thanks

    Hi Tks777,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you see an "error 4013" when you try to restore your iPhone, try these troubleshooting steps:
    Error 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, and 4016
After you perform each step, try to restore your device.
    Restart your computer.
Disconnect all your USB devices from your computer and connect to another USB port.
    Use a different USB cable.
    Uninstall third-party security software.
Try restoring using an alternate computer.

  • HP PSC 2355 Blue screen of Death and Error message/ blinking lights.

Hello, I have a HP PSC2355 that we recently moved, after we moved it started randomly locking up with the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD), it would give an error:0X880529ec on the BSOD, further down the screen were the characters 1:H+x?+  The (ON) light was Blinking Green, the (!) light was blinking orange.  This will happen regardless if the PC was on or not, it will happen when trying to print, sometimes only getting 1" of print at the top of the page.  Currently running Windows XP, SP3 connected via USB.  I highly doubt it is a PC issue as it will happen when trying to use it as a standalone copier.  Sounds internal to me, I do have electronics experience ( I repair televisions )  If someone has any ideas, let me know.....
I might also add, you dont have to be printing for the error to crop up, you can just plug it in and wait, later you will see the BSOD and the blinking lights.

Well, decided to try to print from another computer, d/l the smaller driver only package (26meg), did a fresh install after finally getting the printer to stay on for a few minutes, it took forever on the first part of 8 on the installer (cable already plugged in), and it has been on for many hours now, printed many things, yet to have an error.  Dont know if the driver installation did anything with the firmware on the unit or not.
    Differences:
    Celeron Laptop (virus/trojan free) now
Was on a P4 desktop that had not been so lucky with the trojan/viruses.
Upstairs on my dining room table now
Was in basement in wife's scrapbooking room.
    Dunno, time will tell.......

  • Blue screen of death of hp desktop p6212f error 0x34

I was resetting my PC and had a power outage during recovery (with a surge protector hookup).
It says problem detected and shut down windows to protect pc. Cache_manager
    Error 0x34
HPs excellent customer support said it would be fixed if I purchase a recovery disk after a long time of harassing warranty offer. So I purchased recovery disk. It did not work. The blue screen of death says to possibly disable caching and shadowing in advanced mode through f8. I can not enter my profile. Each startup goes to blue screen. How do I disable caching or shadowing memory option. Is there any other option that doesn't consist of being taxed by HP which upsetting. I going for my bachors in IT, however, this one has me stumped. Please help.

Not sure if this will actually help:

If you can not install from recovery disks, I would start to think about hardware problems. Get the hard disk manufacturer's drive certification iso image and make a boot disk and test the hard drive and use the disk to fully erase the drive before another attempted install.  Use memtest86 over night to test the memory. Make sure all your fans are spinning and especially check the one on the video card and CPU.  Check the video card and mother board for bulging, rounded or leaking capacitors.

  • Blue screen of death with HDD Hardware Test error on iMac HELP!!

My iMac is not starting up.  It just get the blue screen of death during startup.  It is a 2.66 mghz duo with 2gb 800 ram.  I was able to get the Hardware test to run and got an error of 4M0T/2/40000004: HDD-1560.  I am assuming it is an error with the internal hard drive since I have nothing else hooked up to the mac other than the keyboard and mouse right now.  Does this code mean my hard drive is completely shot?  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Preferred sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers, download managers, etc.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best
choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps are much larger in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
After doing that, to learn how to share the link to the file if you are unaware, please visit the following link -
Share files and folders and change permissions and view 'Get a link'.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUpUtilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use. With this said, if you've run such software, you will need to allow the system to crash once again to generate a crash dump.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all
    drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system
    log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.
    Regards,
    Patrick

  • Two PCIe-6537 read error and blue screen of death

    Hi all
I am reading two PCIe-6537 at 20MHz sample rate acquiring all 32 lines each with externally supplied clock and external trigger.
When operating separately, no problem, but when two are read I get
    a) on average of 25% of time error reading the data (time out error but happening before the actually time set by timeout, i.e. immediately after trigger)  and
    b) a blue screen of death after 1h or so of constant operation.
I have a feeling a) and b) are related and LV causes the system crash with so many errors. NI support seems to think otherwise.
I am using Dell Studio XPS 8100 and I have done all the firmware updates for the Chipsets etc. It has
    not changed anything.
Changing single line to whole port reading does not change anything.
Any ideas what to try else?

  • Notebook with blue screen of death and HP Ceement errors

    Hello, I am using:
Product name: HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC
    Product number: QE310UA#ABA
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
I have been having a few message/errors lately and suspect they are related
    1) The "blue screen of death" has shut down operations a few times now, that I have seen. When it reboots, all my passwords are gone, all new log ins are required. I know it's been happening more than I see because my passwords will dissapear while I am away from my laptop and I had not seen it.
    2) Error message "HP CEEment has stopped working, windows is looking for a solution to solve this problem", comes up a lot. Daily, usually twice at a time. I googled this and a few "answers" said to look at your firewall and to "allow" HP Ceement. I called Norton and they showed me that it is allowed, so they are not the issue and to contact HP, hence why I am here.
    3) Not sure if this last one is part of the issue, but it has come up more than once lately. Error "Your current settings do not allow file to be downloaded". I ssupect when the computer reboots after the blue screen the security is automatically heightened and that is why I got this, as well as loose passwords and a couple other "secruity level" type problems.
    Thanks for the help, Amy

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I can offer the following in hopes that it may help.
First, a bit about the CEEment program:
    CEEment Overview
    Excerpted:
CEEment stands for Customer Experience Enhancement. CEEment (HPCEE.exe) is the reporting tool that HP uses to collect and study anonymous data. You can activate CEEment when you set up your computer. Or, you can activate using HP Advisor or HP Support Assistant at any time.
    Commentary
It might be that the CEEment program is not the direct cause of the problem, that is, the issue might be symptomatic of the underlying problems -- it may be part of the train wreck, so-to-speak.
In any case, while the system is up and running you can try the following to fix the issue or to at least try to eliminate the CEEment program from the mix.
Download Install a new copy of the latest version of the HP Support Assistant on your system:
    HP Support Assistant
If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select run as Administrator and install.
    Reboot the system
If you like, you can switch OFF the CEEment program and the other checks that HP Support Assistant performs on your system.
Example (HP Support Assistant Version 7.4.45.4)
Open the HP Support Assistant > Settings >
Scroll down to Warranty and Services >
Next to Check warranty now >>
CHECK No, I do not want to send this data >
Scroll down to Would you like to share anonymous usage data with HP? >
    CHECK No >
Under Welcome Screen (if necessary) >>
UNCHECK Show a welcome screen when I open HP Support Assistant >
    Click Save
    Dragon Tips
You may want to create an extra / new account with administrator privileges on the computer in case the issue is related in some way to your account.
You do want to make sure you have your personal data backed up -- make an extra effort to make sure your critical data is backed up somewhere other than on the computer.  Make a copy of those files to a USB drive or to the Cloud.  Make sure you include your bookmarks.

  • ITunes 9.2 causes fatal error and "blue screen of death"

I installed Itunes 9.2 this morning and whenever I tried accessing this version of Itunes, my system hangs and showed me the infamous “blue screen of death”. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes but nothing seems to work.
Anyone encountering this problem and is there any way to solve this? Thanks!

I was using v9.1.1.12 and could not synch my iphone with outlook although with other versions there was no problem so was keen to install the new version of iTunes yesterday (9.2.0.61). Installation went fine, iTunes opened up perfectly and read my music library and hey presto synched my phone with outlook. I was well pleased. Closed down itunes and went back to working A couple of hours later as my secretary had updated my calendar I plugged in my iphone and itunes started to open then.... disaster. The blue screen appeared.
I restarted again, and again and again and the same thing happens everytime iTunes was opened (independently or when plugging my iphone in). Tried 4 times.
I did a repair using itunes installer. No change stilled blue screened when opened. I then had the bright idea of uninstalling iTunes totally and reinstalling. No change - itunes begins to open then causes blue screen.
The next step I uninstalled itunes. Did a disk defrag and then thought I would reinstall version 9.1.1.12 and install the newer version over the top. But hey you have guessed it, the older version would not open because the library it was using had been created with a newer version i.e. v9.2.0.61 - nice one iTunes!!
So at the moment I have no iTunes at all so am stuffed. So, iTunes solves one problem but creates another. Do they ever check these things???
    Help!!
