Error 1305

I can't get Ipod updated to load properly. I keep getting error 1305 and when I go to I-tunes, I don't get the options menu which allows me to control my Ipod.
How can I fix this problem.

The 1305 error is probably caused by a bad intallation CD, rather than an InstallShield error as some other discussons have suggested. At least this was the case I experienced yesterday when helping a friend resolve the 1305 error. After encountering the 1305 error, we attempted to copy the entire CD to a temporary directory on the C: drive, but the copying operation terminated with a CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) error message -- this indicates a problem either with the CD itself or with the computer hardware. Physically cleaning the CD surface did not resolve the issue and the DVD/CD drive had not had problems with any other DVDs/CDs.
The solution was to download iTunes and the iPod Updater from the Apple site and discard the installation CD.

  • Error 1305 while installing Crystal Reports 2008, JavaSDK

While installing Crystal Reports from the original media on a new Lenovo Thinkpad running Windows XP Pro SP3 I get the following error while installing:
Error 1305: Error reading from File: c:\program files\Business Objects\javasdk\jre\audio\soundbank.gm. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
I have the option to retry or cancel, obviously cancel exits the installer. Retry just fails again. I have tried to access the file (which does exist) and I cannot because it is in use. I used Sysinternals process explorer to find out what has the file in use and it is msiexec.exe which is the Microsoft Installer service which is running in order to install CR2008.
I have tried restarting, setting permissions on the file and folder, uninstalling and reinstalling Java VM from Sun. I even tried killing msiexec (which killed the install). I even tried taking out all reference to java in a custom install.
I am at a loss on what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

I found that if I installed it from a copied local directory instead of the CD Rom that it worked

  • Error 1305: Data1.cab

When I was updating my Adobe Reader to 9.3, it got to 99.9 then I got a message saying that I had to "Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
Well, it was in a folder on my desktop where it was supposed to be, I opened the cabinet file and everything looked fine.
So after clicking retry about 10 times, I finally clicked cancel. It looked like it worked, everything continued fine my IE (Eww...Fire Fox ftw!) opened showing the thank you page. So then it started doing other things and I waited and now I have the error again and I'm curious as to whether I should hit retry another 20 times, or hit cancel and hope for the best.
Any help with my prediciment would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    -Danny.

  • Lightroom 2.1 instalattion error 1305

    Hi,
I have just downloaded LR 2.1 (three times, as I thought the problem could be with the downloaded file...) but it does not complete the instalattion as it gives me an error 1305.
I have tried to open the file that the error message indicates, it is there, and there seems to be no security or any kind of issues with it.
I don't know what else I could possibly do... Any suggestions?
    Windows Vista Business 64bits
    Thanks!

Yes, I thought I might had to uninstall 2.0 but was afraid that even though I would not be able to install 2.1 and then would finish without either, as I don't have 2.0 setup files anymore. Should I be concerned about it?
    Thanks

So what was wrong actually, was it a permission issue after all?
It could be any one of a million things (literally).
Here's a handy tool I have for curing this permanently.
    Download this zip file (take_ownership.zip)
Unzip it and double click the .reg file it contains.
Click "Yes" and "OK" when it runs.
It will modify your registry so YOU can take "root level" administrator control over ANY file or folder on your system with a simple right click, and a choice of "Take Ownership".
You should use it for the ProgramData folder and I recommend the Program Files as well as WIndows folders too.

  • Error 1305 when installing LabVIEW 7.1 app built with app builder

I have built an executable with installer from LabVIEW 7.1 app builder.  The app installs/works fine, however 1 user reported 'Error 1305' when installing the app from a DOS subset on a WinXP machine.  For example, a virtual drive is created using the DOS 'subst' command (see http://www.easydos.com/subst.html for more info), e.g. 'subst z: c:\temp'.  Now when running z:\setup.exe, the error 1305 is encountered.  If the same app is run from c:, e.g. 'c:\temp\setup.exe', it works fine.  Is this a bug in the installer, or in the OS...?

    Greetings,
This is an architectural issue with the Microsoft Windows Installer and Windows, and will occur with any MSI (not just those from the app builder).  Under XP, a MSI cannot install from OR install to a location created by the "subst" command.  My understanding of why is that installSequence runs in the context of the MSI engine, which is running as "system" user.  But the subst command is a per-user setting (local to your account) so the MSI engine doesn't see it.
The only workaround is to run the MSI from a non-subst drive, or instead use network file shares (you can simulate what "subst" does by mounting an exported file share from the same machine).

  • PSE 11 Error 1305

I downloaded and am trying to install PSE 11 and keep getting Error 1305. It is trying to find Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.msi in the downloaded files. How can I fix this error. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

When I clicked setup, that's when I had Error 1305.  But, never mind! Moving the extracted files worked. It seems to have downloaded and extracted the files in one place then tried to install in another place - the program files folder - and it needed the set up files in that folder. I should have tried that before writing for help! I don't know why it downloaded to the desktop instead of the program folder but it is now installed. Thanks anyway!

  • Installation Errors (1305, 1603)

I read up on the first error listed in the topic subject (1305), but the only thread I really found that was relevant didn't really help me...
I was prompted when I started up Itunes to upgrade to the latest version, so I pressed the button and downloaded it. The file was fine (and I've tried downloading multiple times, and then in safe mode as well), but it gets hung up when it tries to locate the "c://program files/iTunes/iTunes.exe" file.
Error 1305: verify that files exists and you can access it
It then prompted for a "retry" option, which I followed multiple times until the loading bar said it was completed (but, it never finished the install). So, I tried it multiple times in multiple suggestions areas that are listed within some of your other suggestion threads, and I was gifted with this error twice-
Error 1603: fatal error during installation.
Consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
Any ideas as to what this is? I tried disconnecting my Ipod during the install, and that had no effect on it either. I seem to have either exhausted my efforts, or this problem is more than merely something I'm doing. I've read through most of the knowledge bases you have here, and tried (knew most of it, too) the simplistic suggestions as to how to solve this problem. My computer is updated with the latest version of Win XP, service pack 2, and I've run all available spyware and temp cleaning agents I have.
If you want more information, or more specs, then please feel free to ask. I just really want to get Itunes running again... :/
Thanks for any help. It's greatly appreciated.

Firstly, thanks for trying to help.
Secondly, I've (1) already seen the links and tried everything within them, (2) had iTunes on this computer before (so I assume that it's a software problem, and not a hardware problem). Also, for mention, I have a 40 gig Ipod, not a shuffle.
Again, thanks for the information, but I've already tried it before you mentioned it. I thought I had clearly pointed out that I had done that beforehand in my first post.
Would anyone have any other suggestions that are more specific to this problem? I guess I'll downgrade onto an older version of Itunes until you guys get the bugs out of this version... Disappointing, in the least, I must say... :/
