Error 1324

I am working with Windows 7 Pro. I have adobe reader 9.3 on my computer. I am not able to update because of this error. I tried to install reader X and see if that worked but it did not. I also get this error during download. The error reads (The path My Documents or the volume is invalid).

  • IPOD Updater - Error 1324 - The Folder path contains an invalid character

I tried to install ITUNES on an external HD (I didn't want to slow down my computer by putting all of my music on my internal HD). ITunes installed and then crashed. I removed all traces of ITUNES and IPOD that I could find and went to install ITUNES again on my regular internal drive. Now it goes through the installation and REMEMBERS my IPOD serial number (so obviously I can't find all of the files to remove) but doesn't give me a choice of where to install (it still must be trying to install to my external HD) the ITUNES. All I get is the following Error message:
IPOD Updater - Error 1324 - The Folder path "Program Files" contains an invalid character
Does anyone have a solution out there?
    Thanks in advance!

IPOD Updater - Error 1324 - The Folder path "Program Files" contains an invalid character
Interesting. It's choking on the old iPod updater application. (iPod software updates are no longer handled by a standalone application ... that function was folded into iTunes beginning with iTunes 7.0.0.70.)
    Let's try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any entries called "ipod for windows \[date]" or "ipod updater \[date]" or just "ipod for windows" in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Quit out of CleanUp, and restart the PC.
Does an itunes install go through properly after that?

I am getting this error when trying to install bobj xi 3.1 client version. the service pack is zero.
however, i previously had bobj xi 3.1 server / client components installed and bobj 4.0 client tools.

    kindly advise.

  • Error when uninstalling App-V RDS client: Product: Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Client for Remote Desktop Services 5.0 Service Pack 2 x64 -- Error 1324. The folder path 'C:' contains an invalid character

Issue:  experienced when attempting to uninstall the App-V 5.0 SP2 RDS client.
Event Log:  Product: Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Client for Remote Desktop Services 5.0 Service Pack 2 x64 -- Error 1324. The folder
path 'C:' contains an invalid character
Symptoms (when in this current state):
Unable to uninstall the SP2 client
You can upgrade the client (via hotfix) and uninstall the hotfix, but you will not be able to remove the SP2 client
AppvVfs filter driver will not create an instance, therefore applications will not be able to read into existing streamed VFS content, or trigger sparse files to stream content.  (you can still stream the content via other means, like the UI or powershell)
Because of the AppvVfs filter driver not instantiating, applications that depend on licences that exist in VFS will not be able to be read causing certain applications to react as if the license does not exist or is an incorrect format

    Resolution:
Check for the existence of a hidden folder named %appdata% in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Application Virtualization\Client folder.  (You will need to un-check the folder options box in windows explorer for "Hide
protected operating system files" to see it)
If the hidden %appdata% folder exists, delete it.
Proceed to uninstall the App-V client
After a clean uninstall and removal of remnants of the client, reinstall the client again and apply the latest hotfix available (Hotfix 2 for SP2 at a minimum).

  • Error 1324 + PDF's are defaulting to Photoshop CS2

I recently installed a trial version of Photoshop CS2 which was on a disc lent to me. I am now regretting this action because when I go to open a PDF file it defaults to Photoshop instead of Acrobat Reader.
When attempting to un-install this trial version of CS2 I get an error message  "Error 1324. The path 'My Pictures' cantains an invalid character"
Sure would like some help out of this situation.

    Dear John,
Many thanks for your reply to my problem which is occurring when attempting
to open PDF files emailed to me. The email program is MS Outlook 2003 (on
Windows XP) and this is my work computer.
Perhaps the Photoshop CS2 disc may have been corrupted as I have no idea of
its history however I have managed to un-install it and can do without it.
But now I am having difficulty opening PDF files even though I have Acrobat
Reader v8. I am unable to update this to the current v9.0.1 because when I
do, I get this same error message
"Error 1324 The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid. Please enter it
    and try again"
Do I continue to try the fix you suggested or something different. If yes,
can you please explain where I might find 'Folder Options' and 'File Types'
in a drop down menu in Windows Explorer as I cannot find them in mine?
    Best regards
    Simon

  • How do you fix Error 1324 when downloading Adobe Reader?

"Error 1324. The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." appears after 96% of download occurs when downloading Adobe Reader onto my home computer Windows XP Home Ed. v2 sp3 64 processor. Tried downloading again and same thing happens - used Windows Internet Explorer as browser. Any ideas on what to do next?  Will try downloading using Google Chrome to see if that works. First time using the forums - think  I need to move it to Adobe Reader Forum

Thanks Pat W. I stand corrected. The error report occured during installation. My Pictures and the Adobe folders reside in My Documents - the path(?) C:Documents and Settings/Denise/My Documents/My Pictures. The Adobe folder also resides in the My Documents folder but not within the My Pictures folder. Just wondering where the Adobe folder should be.   If I have an external drive on and a backup copy of Adobe is in it, would that be what you mean by a folder in "My Documents" is pointing to somewhere other than the C: drive? I have turned off my external drive and retried the download. Not successful. Will try your last tip re: the support site from microsoft. Thanks for any other clarification you can provide.

  • Error 1324 Acrobat XI Pro

I upgraded to Adobe Acrobat version XI Pro after using a trial version. (I am using Windows 7 Professional on my PC) and now that there was an update (that continues to fail), I get a message saying "Error 1324. The path my documents or the volume is invalid. Please reenter it again." I have no idea what to do to fix this - "reenter it" where?. I am also having problems with Acrobat crashing my Outlook. I think the update may fix this problem but so far every time my computer tries to update Acrobat, it fails. Please help.

Yes – but how does one find or get to the Windows registry on the computer,
and what exactly am I typing in the windows registry when I find it? The
path to where the My Documents folder is on my computer? Or where the
    program files are?
I am sorry to be asking such rudimentary questions – but I really do not
    know.

  • Cannot Update - Error 1324: The path New Folder or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again.

I have been trying to update Adobe reader but every time i trie to this message shows up: Error 1324: The path New Folder or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again. I am running on Windows XP SP3 and using the latest firefox browser. I am not sure if this question has already been answered in this forum so if it has a link to the thread would be appreciated.

For investigating more on this issue we would need the install log. For creating install log follow the below steps:
    1. Go to start menu and run command
    2. Type Regedit and press enter key
    3. Go to the following path and create keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    Reg_SZ: Logging
    Value: voicewarmupx
then  Install Reader X update. Once you get the error message get the snapshot of error message and then Type %temp% and hit enter. Get the file name as  MSI----
Provide the snapshot of error message as well as MSI log.

  • What do I need to do to fix Error 1324. The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again?

I am having trouble saving pdf files using Adobe on my PC.
I get Error 1324. The path My Documents or the volume is invalid.
How do I fix this please.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall but I cannot uninstall as I get Error 1324. The path My Documents or the volume is invalid

Reader does not provide a save as option. You must be using the MS plugin for creating PDFs since Reader can not create PDFs (you would have to have Acrobat). Since you do not have Acrobat, but Reader, you will have to check why the MS plugin is not working -- not an Adobe issue.

  • I cannot install adobe reader. I get so far and get the message "Error 1324. The oath All folders or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again" can you help?

i cannot install adobe reader. I get so far and get the message "Error 1324. All folders or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again" can you help?

We need to know if any registry settings are causing this error.  Please follow these instructions:
from Windows Start | Search: type regedit and hit Enter; you will see a window like this
now click on the little arrow ▹ left from HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Next click the arrow ▹ beside Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then CurrentVersion, then Explorer, then click on User Shell Folders
all entries on the right side should start with %USERPROFILE%
If you have anything different, this may be the cause for the install failure.
Now you need to repeat the same thing for another key:
    ▹ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ▹ Software ▹ Microsoft ▹ Windows ▹ CurrentVersion ▹ Explorer ▹ User Shell Folders
Here all entries should start with %PUBLIC% or %ProgramData%.  If you have anything different, this may also be the cause for the install failure.

  • ELEMENTS 6.0 ERROR 1324

I have searched the forum and find no answer.  Trying to reinstall 6.0 and receive the following error message:
"Error 1324.  The path adobe photoshop elements 6.0 contains an invalid character."
I have tried everthing I can think of.  I have googled till my fingers are blue.  I have run 3 reg clean softwares and examined the reg with regedit.  Adobe no longer supports 6.0 and phone rep could not even give me a valid web address.  ~sigh~  I do not think Adobe offers web support for 6.0 either.
So, it is up to the user forum, I guess.
Is there a "run once" self-destruct built into the disc????
thanks in advance for any insight.

Yeah PSE is totally compatible with SP3, I believe many other users on the forum are also running XP machines with SP3 only. I agree with you and even while googling I found out that if your product installation/uninstallation is broken then it might result into this issue: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1702087.php
Hence, try to remove the PSE 6 files from the machine as much as you can from ProgramFiles\Adobe, ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Adobe\, registry editor, also try to run the windows installer cleanup utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 to remove any traces of broken install/uninstall of PSE6 and then try again to install PSE.
I have a link for manually removing PSE 7 from the system, may be you can refer the same for looking into the similar places for PSE 6 entries and remove them before trying to install it again:
