Error 1328

I keep getting error 1328 error applying patch to file c:\config.msi\pt5b54.tmp on my windows 8 tablet
I have tried to download it to my desktop then install and ran the cleaner fix on Adobe site but still keep getting the error. All my windows updates are current and I still cannot download the adobe reader.

Do you already have an earlier Reader version installed?  If so, remove it using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and run the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

The errors are listed at Update errors | Windows. This one suggests that a file is missing. Is Acrobat still functional? If so, go to the help>Repair. Then do the updates from the help menu. You can also download the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (or MAC equivalent).

So the reinstall is successful as I understand it and it is an issue with applying the patches. You did not indicate how you are patching, but there are two ways: 1. Help>Update and 2. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. For the latter, you generally have to install in order. However, for AA XI you can simply go directly to 11.0.07 (that is what the download site says).
Also, be sure you log in as the administrator and disable anti-virus.

  • I keep getting Error 1328.  What should i do?

Yesterday, i uninstalled reader 10.1.4 because some fonts looked strange on some PDF Files.  Unfortunately, when i tried to re-install, i keep getting error 1328.
i am running windows vista and have un-installed all Adobe programs and tried to re-install countless times.  i tried to run cleaner but got an error message about some files being outside of a library.  Any suggestions?

Ok, here is the test that should (hopefully) tell us what's going wrong during the registration of the authplay.dll file.  Can you try following these steps; if anything is not clear, don't hesitate to ask for clarification.
download the attached authplay.zip file, unzip it, and move the extracted authplay.dll file to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader10.0\Reader
    start Procmon
open a Command Prompt and type the following
    cd C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader10.0\Reader
    regsvr32 authplay.dll *
    exit
    in Procmon start filtering (Ctrl+L)
first click the Reset button to remove anything previously added
now filter: Process Name is regsvr32.exe
    Add
    OK
now save (Ctrl+S) the filtered result
    exit Procmon
The saved file will be named something like Logfile.PML and will be located in the folder where Procmon resides.
Now upload that logfile to https://files.acrobat.com/ and share the link; see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1408375 for detailed instructions.
*) in 3 above, did regsvr32 display an error message?

  • Error 1328 at installation AdbeRdrUpd933_all_incr.ms

    Error at installation AdbeRdrUpd933_all_incr.msp
I create an administrative point and I use following batch a file:
    msiexec /a "%cd%\AdbeRdr930_ru_RU.msi" /qb! TARGETDIR="%cd%\AdobeRdr"
    msiexec /p "%cd%\AdbeRdrUpd932_all_incr.msp" /a "%cd%\AdobeRdr\AdbeRdr930_ru_RU.msi" /qb!
    msiexec /p "%cd%\AdbeRdrUpd933_all_incr.msp" /a "%cd%\AdobeRdr\AdbeRdr930_ru_RU.msi" /qb!
At installation AdbeRdrUpd933_all_incr.msp I receive an error 1328.
The same error I receive at installation AdbeRdrUpd933_all_incr.msp on installed Adobe Reader v9.3.2
    OS: Windows XPSP3 x86 and Window 7 x64

So far here is what I have found.
Because the patch is an incremental patch, you have to patch the previous version which is 9.3.2.
What was happening with me, is that I was trying to patch 9.3.0 with an msi slipstreamed with 9.3.2.  Thats what was causing the error.
Try this.  Download the AdbeRdrUpd932_all_incr.msp patch, and do the following to create a valid 9.3.2 network install point.
    msiexec /a AdbeRdr930*.msi
point the installer to your install point.
after that is done, slipstream to version 9.3.2:
    msiexec /a AdbeRdr930*.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd932_all_incr.msp
again, use the install point as the target. This will patch all files to 9.3.2.
Now we can use the 933 patch to get to the newest version.
    msiexec /a AdbeRdr930*.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd933_all_incr.msp
This should work, it did for me.
    Best Wishes from Kansas!
