Error 14 while restoring after disconnecting at restore

Hey, so yesterday I was restoring my iPhone 5S from 7.0.4 to 7.1.1 on my Windows 8 system and it got stuck at around 20-30%, I waited an hour or two and it didn't move, so I disconnected the iPhone assuming it doesn't matter if the OS will be corrupted since I want to restore, when I tried another restore it started giving me Error 14, and seems to show the error around the same percentages  I disconnected it while it first restored.
I tried downloading the IPSW again from the internet about 4 times from different places too, when I try to let iTunes download it it just says the file was corrupted when the download finishes (tried 5 times) I tried turning off ALL security on my computer, I even uninstalled AVG and turned off Windows firewall, I also tried all the USB ports. when all that failed I got my old computer out of the basement and plugged in it, updated iTunes and what not then tried to restore, and it gave me the same error. This is when I started to worry this may not be something with my computer, but something with the iPhone... Did I brick my phone? What can I do??
My phone has been unusable for over 24 hours now, it just shows the connect to iTunes logo, I also tried putting it in DFU, which doesn't help.
any help would be appreciated!

You could check out this support document for help with the error 14. Resolve iOS update and restore errors  This is listed under anti-virus issues or hardware. However, now that you have downloaded an iOS 8 ipsw and tried to install it, you may never recover now. Try looking up DFU restore and see if you can get the device to restore there, but it may not happen now. Your big mistake was not waiting a period of time and going for the beta software. Apple does not support downgrading, so you may have locked your phone. Sorry.

  • Error message 1 after trying to restore iPhone 4, after upgrading it to iOS 5

I keep getting error message 1 after trying to restore my non-jailbreaked iPhone 4 after trying to upgrading it to IOS 5. The phone only displays a picture of the iTunes logo and a USB cable. I have tried everything  I could find on the internet such as holding the homebutton while connecting the phone to iTunes, restarting the computer, switching computers, restore with another cable, take out the simcard etc. It works fine until the verry end, that's when I get the message. Please help!

Try downloading the 3rd party application called "Tiny Umbrella". While it isn't a software distributed by Apple it will be able to kick your iPhone out of the boot loop.

  • Unkown error while updating to ios8 or restoring

A few days ago my Iphone 5 screen went black and would not turn on or anything but it would still vibrate and if i held down the home button the little siri sound would go off. This had happened once before a short while ago and i just let the phone die all the way then charged it and it worked fine so that's what i did this time. When it came back on this time though, it was still just black but it would also be flashing the apple logo. I tried a bunch of things that people were suggesting online and watched youtube vidoes but nothing seemed to work, also every once in a while it would go to the lock screen and i swiped and pushed home and stuff and nothing would happen it just said it was searching where it would usually say verizon. Once while the screen was doing this i held power and the home button which is what many of these youtube videos said to do and it worked, telling me to connect it to itunes for the recovery process. Once it was connected to itunes i tried to update it to ios8 and it seemed to be working at first but then it said unkown error and when i tried to restore it the same thing happened, i tried both of these multiple times with the same result. The nearest apple store is an hour away and i don't have a driver license so that's really a last resort for me, i'm hoping someone knows whats gonig on with my phone.

when it provide an unknown error it usually give an error number too

  • "Error while relocating" after deleting RAW from RAW+JPEG pairs (Important FYI)

This is not a question, but something I recently discovered that I think will be important for the Aperture community.
Not too long ago, I asked a question about how to remove the RAW files from RAW+JPEG pairs. The concensus was that it couldn't be done through Aperture, but that one could delete them through the Finder. The answer I got (and that has popped up in other threads on similar topics) was "it's probably not wise, but as far as I know, it won't have an adverse effect." I don't think any response along these lines has been able to point to a specific problem that can arise from such a "hack." Well, I found one today...
It appears that if a user uses Finder to "break" RAW+JPEG pairs by deleting the RAW file and leaving the JPEG (and I assume this goes for deleting the reverse), Aperture will NOT be able to "Relocate Originals..." Instead, "Aperture will return the error: Error while relocating (File not Found): "(null)". I ran into this error the other day while trying to change my file structure by relocating all files. I regularly ran into this error, and it was only after some extensive that I was able to narrow it down 100% of the time to the RAW+JPEG pairs I had "broken." I haven't encounterd any other adverse behavior from "breaking" these file pairings, but this one, at least, could be serious.
So, for future reference, I think the response by the Aperture community when someone asks "How do I delete the RAW file from RAW+JPEG" pairs, should be "Use Finder if you must, but please note Aperture will not be able to 'Relocate Originals..
PS This should NOT be understood as a criticism of those who have responded to this question in the past. There's obviously no way to know about these little quirks until one of us stumbles across them. I hope this information will be helpful going forward, both as a caution when deleting one of the pair, and as a possible answer for the "Error while relocating" message.
PPS I don't think I ran across an explanation for this when I originally searched for the error message bolded above.
If someone has already provided this information, my apologies.

Interesting the last post before this one you posted was back in May 2011 Removing RAW, keeping JPG?
Thanks for that thread. That helps jog ye olde memory. As such, I would edit my original thread to read "The concensus I gathered from researching multiple responses to questions similar to mine was that it couldn't be done through Aperture*, but that it was possible from Finder though highly inadvisable." I won't bother recreating my research at the time (not even sure I could, since it was more than two years ago), but suffice it to say that the thread you've linked was not my sole encounter with this problem. I do appreciate that you've reminded me that this was not something I had done solely through numerous posts on Apple Discussions. I imagine I likely spent time reading multiple posts here and elsewhere, uncovering the concensus (which i think is still a fair term) that it could not be done through Aperture*, could be through Finder, but was inadvisable.
*This is still accurate, afaik. You cannot delete the pair from a RAW+JPEG pair in Aperture. Exporting, then deleting in Finder, then reimporting is still not something "done in [entirely] Aperture."
    Frank Caggiano wrote:
No one actually told you to delete anyting in in the Finder you came up with this yourself as your own solution
This comes from the critical mistake on my part of not making clear that I was paraphrasing multiple responses rather than saying "Bob told on a Monday that i should..." That is one huge mea culpa and I'd edit it if I could. To be clear, my comment that "it's probably not wise, but as far as I know, it won't have an adverse effect" is a paraphrase of multiple answers to the broad question dealing with how Aperture handles files that have been deleted in Finder. At the time, it was known that you could delete a file in Finder, that Aperture could be made to accept that, that it might cause issues further down the road, but that those issues were unkown. I paraphrased that but failed to make it clear that's what I was doing. Again, my apologies.
    Frank Caggiano wrote:
So I'm not really sure what it is you are coming back here now to say? There was no 'consensus' to do this, it was your own 'solution'
In this respect, I think you've misunderstood me. At the time I made this post, I still was not seeing a direct connection between deleting files in Finder and adverse consequences in Aperture (or perhaps I should say my searches did not turn up such a connection). As such, I made this post to provide the community with clear evidence of why one should not delete one-of-a-pair files in Finder. Again, I may have simply missed the thread that detailed that to do so would result in a null error when relocating Masters. That said, in July 2013 I had been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I was getting the null error and I did not see a thread that asked "have you deleted files in Finder" as a way to troubleshoot.
Hopefully, I've cleared up any confusion now. To bring this all back around to my original point for the thread, I intended it to (1) offer a more direct way to troubleshoot the null error on relocating Masters, and (2) to offer a cautionary tale for those who choose to delete one of the RAW+JPEG pair in Finder. There are better (though more time- and space-consuming) ways to get it done, and my original post should help demonstrate why.

  • Sync encountered an error while syncing, after 6.0.1 uptade

Syncing was working fine, but after the 6.0.1 update on one computer, I started getting a:
Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action.
If I click on the Sync now button, same error. I check my sync key and it's correct.

The problem persists even after the 6.0.2 update. At one point in time on Saturday it did sync, but it still went back to not synching.

  • W520 Error while undocking after BIOS Update

    Hello,
I already asked this in the german community but didnt get any answer. So let me try it here:
On my W520 (bought April 2012) I did a BIOS update. After this update the notebook is running with
    LENOVO 8BET58WW (1.38 ), 06.07.2012.
Since this update I have a problem when my notebook is returning from hibernate and snooze mode. Please see the picture below.
It means: “Error while undocking…” . Means: It tells me that it is not able to undock the Utraby Harddisk.
Funny thing: I didn’t try to undock it. The notebook starts from hibernate and the first thing it does is throwing this error. Constantly. No software is running or accessing the drive.
It is a Ultrabay III adapter including a harddisk as a D drive. Before this BIOS update I never had this error. I already rebooted the notebook and undocked the harddrive to test if this error would disappear. But no chance.
After pressing the ok button everything works. But this error pops up every time and is annoying,
How can we get rid of it?.
    Merci.

@Al - yes, you can back up to 1.36. In fact, I recommend it. It is posted under "Support" on Lenovo.com. I would give you the exact link, but the site is so slow I can't get anywhere right now.
The ISO version is still there. You will have to burn a bootable CD to revert.
If you are a glutton for punishment you could try going to 1.39, but I would stick with what has worked before.

  • Mail Restores after Time Machine Restore - Why?

I just re-formatted my hard drive and performed a Time Machine restore using Lion's Restore. When I launched Mail it asked to Import my Mail and once done many of the old msg's appeared as 'unread' including every msg in trash.  Why?  I though a RESTORE from Time Machine restored an "image" of a system and therefore Mail should have acted just like my old mail.
    Comments?

Your analysis is correct. It is, alas, a complex and imperfect world.
Time Machine is designed to make backups automatically without you having to remember to do so. it also saves a historical record of all of those backups so that if you don't notice a file is corrupted, wrong, or missing right away, you can go back 3 weeks and get the last known, good version. It also has a funky, intelligent interface that allows you to restore data in some specific applications. For example, you can restore individual Mail messages and Address book entries even though this data is stored in very hard-to-decipher databases.
All of those Time Machine tricks come with a price. The price is that you can't boot from Time Machine and Time Machine isn't always a perfect image.

  • Error message (-1) after failing to restore Iphone

I have tried to seach what the -1 could mean, and am unsure, I have to restore it, as it comes up in itunes as "Iphone is in recovery mode. • Restoring after disconnection from PC and cannot s...

This is my first post, and I hope I can explain my problem clearly... Have tried to find solution on site without success, so appreciate any help out there!
I accidentally disconnected my phone from PC during a PC Suite data transfer (it was automatically uploading images to a folder).
Phone (N79) "went blank" and I am unable to switch it on again - it makes small "buzz" as ON switch is depressed, but does not light up or start at all.
Hence, I am unable to do a Restore from PC Suite as I cannot "Get connected" via my USB cable. The PC just cannot find/ recognise that the phone is connected.
Do I have to go to a dealer to get the phone "reloaded" or is there some way I can do this?
Also, if I can get my phone back on, will I have lost the data/ images I was trying to upload, or is there some way to not lose them?
Many (many) thanks for any help.

Reformatting the iPod for the Mac will speed up data transfer rates between your iPod and your computer, and will also allow you to update the iPod's firmware on the Mac. The Mac updater won't update PC formatted iPods; you will only get the option to restore the iPod.

  • Desktop not restored after disconnecting projector

I've been using my older G4 PowerBook, running Leopard, for presentations recently. All the projectors I've used are detected properly and the screen resolution is automatically set to match the projector. However, when I disconnect the projector my desktop is not restored properly. The resolution is correct, but all the windows end up smaller and bunched up as if they were still being displayed on the lower resolution of the projector.
Is there any way to either specify that projectors should always be a separate display or to automatically restore the view I had before connecting the projector?
    Thanks,
    Patrick May

    Hey unpluggedkk,
Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are having issues when disconnecting an external display, the following may resolve your issue:
OS X Mountain Lion: Reset your computer’s PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
Note: Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
You may also want to detect displays:

  • Error while booting after fresh install

Hi, I decided to reinstall Arch on my laptop. So I first used gcdisk to make my partitions, I have 4 (/ , boot, home, var). I made sure to make a fifth partition of 2mb for bios booting with grub at the beginning of my disk. I chose jfs filesystem for all partitions except var I chose reiserfs.
I mounted everything, installed base and base-devel, grub following the wiki, generated fstab, etc. Then when I reboot I get the error : error 'grub.pc/i386/search_fs_uuid.mod' not found. I tried reinstalling everything twice.
I thought maybe I was doing something wrong with GPT so I used MBR this time, re-did the full installation and same problem. I read the grub wiki and did everything it says. I'm not doing dual-boot.
    any suggestions? thank you
PS: After booting it brings me to maintenance terminal.

    henk wrote:
    'grub.pc/i386/search_fs_uuid.mod'
Is this a typo? As in it should have been '/grub/i386-pc/search_fs_uuid.mod'?
Ooops it might have been a typo sorry.
WonderWoofy wrote:I think the significant portion of what you did has to do with the error message itself.  Ergo, instead of reinstalling everything over and over again, debug grub.  I think you need to do better than "I read the grub wiki and did everything it says" in how you ask your quesiton.  What exactly did you do?
BTW, i really do not like grub2 as it has become particurly crazy bloated (as exemplified by the need for a 1-2MB partition in addition to the space in the disk's boot sector).  So I try to encourage others to use something simpler that allows more user control over configuration.  I like syslinux, but grub-legacy or lilo are good choices as well.
I had grub2 installed before so that's why I chose it. Also on the syslinux wiki it doesn't say it supports jfs filesystem, which is why I chose grub2.
Is there a way to install the missing path with pacman?
edit: Also when I check in /boot/grub/i386-pc/ I can see the search_fs_uuid.mod

Does anyone has experienced a similar problem? I want to expose the functionality of my BO methods in order to set up a small POC.

Implement the corrections attached in the SAP note.
Please let me know if this helps you in sloving your error.
    Thanks,
    Mayuresh

  • Errors while validating after import

    Hi
In FDQM, i have give the source and targets for mapping of a custom dimension.
One of the source is getting calculated using FDM scripts as based on the data, it generates the metadata member at source.
I can see a proper import happening and the script generating the required result.
But while validating it shows an error. Even though the member is present in MAPS, it shows it as unmapped.
If i use the "FIX" option in validation, i still end up getting the same error message (in addition the dimension member field now shows some additional characters!)
Any one has faced this issue with FDM before?
    RegardS

    Hi,
It seems you are using Logic Accounts to create the new metadata member. Should this be the case, then it may be worth checking whether you are mapping the name of the logic account itslef or the newly created members.

    Vlado
