Error 1402 while installing iTunes.
Hey guys, I have a problem with installing iTunes, and I've come to believe it's called "error 1402".
Here is what it looks like:
I have no idea how to fix it, and the solution Apple provides didn't help me.
Yes, but under installer I don't have "UserData".
Can you post a screenshot of what you have under Installer in Regedit, please?
Open regedit so it's showing the Installer key (and what is inside it when the key is expanded). Hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

WinXP_AppBulider71_InstallFail.jpg 52 KBHello,
I have heard of this error occuring during installations, when a registry key cannot be accessed (as the error message notes). The first thing to check I think is that the key indicated in the error message actually exists in your registry. Just click Start -> Run... and type regedit to open the registry. Then navigate to the key indicated to verify it exists. If it does exist, can you double click to attempt to edit it? Do you receive any errors? I don't recommend actually changing anything, rather to test if perhaps you don't have registry editing rights for some reason (although logging in as an administrator I think should be sufficient).
Another idea, which has solved strange problems usually related to a specific computer and perhaps a virus scanner installed, is to copy the contents of the install cd to your hardrive, and attempt to install from there.
Give those "tests" a try, and let me know how it goes. The results should give us some more information with which to explore other potential solutions.

Having Runtime Error! while installing iTunes new version.
Error is R6034; An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. My OS is Windows 7, and I cannot start or install iTunes any more! I cannot start or install iTunes, which is very frustrating...
Many thanks.
Error writing to file: C\Program Files (x86)\iTunes. Resources \it .lproj\iPod License .rtf . Verify that you have access to that directory
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
I get the following error when installing itunes 10.5.3 on my Windows Vista 32Bit premium home edition:
Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\4361d.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I cannot find the folder mentioned above.I have the same problem. I've tried tons of ways to solve that. Finally I suceed today.
I closed all the antivirus and computer/device backup programs and elevate the pession of Config.Msi folder to the current user (by right clicking the folder, add the name of current account under security tab).
Then I reinstalled the updates, it worked fine.
I think one of those methods may be enough to solve the problem, but I'm not sure which is. -
Error 1704 While Installing iTunes (never mind, I fixed it)
Edit: OMG, I fixed my own problem! I used the Windows Install Clean Up utility to FINALLY install iTunes 6. YAY Thanks, B, for your help in the past.
Hi,
I've have been having the WORST time with installing iTunes. I was on this board a couple months ago, and B was helping me out. I got really busy with school, and I haven't been back since, so all my old posts have been deleted. Here's all the info on this problem -
I have downloaded iTunesSetup several times from Apple's web site. The installation runs fine until I get to the part where it says, "Removing registry values." Each and every time, which has been about 30 or so times now, my computer has a fatal error, and I have to restart it. I can never finish the installation process.
Here is what comes up on the blue screen -
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x805815B2, 0xF3674BAC, 0x00000000)
Here is what comes up in the Event Log -

I hope someone can tell me where to go from here. I just updated windows. I've run Adaware. I've even tried downloading and running a utility that is supposed to get rid of Error1704, but none of these things have helped.
Please help, someone!
Thanks a lot!

When I try to install Itunes 10.3 on my computer, an error message pops up saying
"An error occured during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC.80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32".publicKeyToken="1fc8 b3b9a1e3b".process orArchitecture="x86"".Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD.

Error 2356 While Installing iTunes 8.2
Every time I try to install iTunes, it gets right past the Quick Time setup and says:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2356."
I've redownloaded iTunes and even tried getting an older version, but it still doesn't work no matter what I do. I've called Apple Care and stayed on the phone with them for over an hour and they just told me to try uninstalling and deleting every file that has to do with Apple, QuickTime and iTunes. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated considering I can't put anything on my iPhone. :P

-----EDIT-----
I have now included the log file for the iTunes installation. Hope it helps a little more:
Download "Log.txt"
Message was edited by: KittieKizuI did find a few other googles from itunes and 2356, but no answers. So you're not the ONLY person with this error, but a definite minority.
All I can suggest is trying to install it from another admin account with any security software such as Norton, Mcafee, etc turned off. Do the MSCONFIG thing, but make sure you have the latest Windows updates and turn off security software first. It's a valid install package for most folks, so something specific on your PC thinks it isn't.

Solution to "iPodService Error" issue while installing iTunes 10 for Window
This instruction applies to Windows XP:
Un-install iTunes 10...follow Apple's instructions to un-install iTunes 10.
Right Click on <My Computer> icon on your desktop
Select <Properties> from context menu
Select <Advanced> tab
Click <Settings> under Startup and Recovery
Click <Edit> under "To edit the startup options file...."
The boot.ini file should now be opened in Notepad. Check and update the following flag to match:
/noexecute=optin
Re-install iTunes 10
The process should be normal without the "ipodservice error messages".
It worked for me...Good Luck !
Someone had already posted this solution in one of the threads, so credit is due there, not hereHRESULT: 0x800736FD

Error Message while installing Itunes. Error code 2738
Can anyone help in the above subject.
Reckon something got to do with the installation of quicktime!I haven't seen one of those for a while.
It's a VBscript issue on the PC. The first thing we should try with it is reregistering your VBScript.
In your "Start Search", type run
Right-click on the Run item that comes up and select "Run as administrator"
In the Run line, type:
regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\vbscript.dll
If the registration is successful, you should see: "DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded".
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
While installing itunes i am getting error "this installation package could not be opened.verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the appliacation vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -

regsrv32.exe - the program you are trying to run should normally be in:
c:\Windows\System32 (assuming a standard set up)
You could check to see if it is there. If it is you could try putting the path in front of the command so it would be as follows:
c:\Windows\System32\regsvr32 vbscript.dll
The problem may be caused by an incorrect environmental variable setting. If you want to try and fix it, the following link gives a description how to do it.
