I migrated to a new windows 7 computer and cannot update Acrobat X anymore, I keep geeting error code 1406. My PC support staff at our company worked for 2 days trying to resolve and cannot, thier idea was to turn off the automatic updates since the program does function.

Hi fishjimdandy,
Could you please share the screenshot of the error message that appears.
Considering error 1406 while updating Acrobat, I would suggest you to refer the following KB doc link and try out the solutions mentioned there:

  • After migrating to a new computer, my contacts have no cards

I recently moved from a laptop to a desktop. After doing the migration, I fired up iMessage and found no available contacts. All of the names are there, but there is no information attached to them. They do not show up in all contacts, only in iCloud. Gmail also will not sync. I have clicked and unclicked the iCloud contacts check already, no dice. When I go to iCloud, everything is there, and everything is there on my phone. I have tried syncing from my phone, and that also does nothing. I want to just reset both programs and have them start from scratch, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that either. I am at a total loss.

Final resolution: I gave up. I created a new user account, linked it to all my email accounts and re-started from scratch.

  • After migrating to a new computer, Aperture will not accept registration on new computer (OS10.6.7)

Just got a (new to me) iMac and used firewire to migrate apps and data from an iMac OS 10.5.8. However, Aperture will not recognize the registration number. Help, please.

If my memory serves me correctly you can only have Aperture 3 installed on 1 computer at a time so if you have it installed on the original Mac and this new system at the same time it may give you a multiple installations detected warning or something of that nature.
    Best of luck.
That is correct however Aperture does allow multiple installs to allow a user to have Aperture running on one computer at a time. For example a photographer may have a MacPro notebook and and Mac Pro desktop. He can use the license when he's on a shoot in the field using the MBP while the Mac Pro sits dormant at home. The software is sophisticated enough to detect he's trying to run one license on multiple machines simultaneously. I have successfully migrated Aperture myself and use it on my iMac and MacBook Air however as stated only one machine at a time.
The OP mentions the machine is new to him, which complicates matters quite a bit. I hope he got the original media from the seller if he did not then there is a good chance he is running illegal software and was duped by the seller. The OP doesn't say where he got the iMac so I'm assuming he bought it used, if I am correct then this is one the problems of buying used, caveat emptor. If I'm incorrect (like maybe it was a hand-me-down from a relative) then all he needs to do is get the media and key code.
Apple is careful on it's licensing on it's professional software.

  • After migration to a new macbook i cannot open photoshop. I get error message "you can't open this application "adobe photoshop cs" because powerpc applications are no longer supported"

You cannot run Photoshop CS on a new Intel-based Mac running OS X Mavericks. CS is far too old.
You'll have to buy Photoshop CS6 or Photoshop Elements 12. Or subscribe to CC.

  • Application Software (example Microsoft Office) does or does not migrate to the new computer

From a software standpoint, when you use data migration Mac to Mac or PC to MAC, why application software, like Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop, sometime are able to move (migrate) to the new computer without any issues and sometimes the user must BUY again the software?
Technicians told me that sometimes the Migration Data is capable to migrate the Software Serial Number of the software and sometimes does not.
But, what is the real techincal answer? What happens to the serial number when you migrate?

Depends on how the App stores the serial number. Some apps fail when the file that holds the serial number gets moved and must be reinstalled.
None of that requires you to purchase it again. You just have to install it using the key you were provided with the software.
No apps will be migrated from a PC as they will not work with OS X.
Office 2004 will not Migrate as it doesn't work in Mountain Lion.

  • How can synchronized local imap folders be migrated to a new computer, without new download from imap server, so that everything is working as before?

How can synchronized local imap folders be migrated to a new computer, without new download from imap server, so that everything is working as before?
I only managed to import synchronized folders (from old computer) to local folders in thunderbird at the new computer. Then I tried to move the messages to the folder of the imap account at the new computer where I temporarily limited the synchronization to one month. When I remove this limit the thunderbird program starts to redownload all the messages again nonetheless.
Since I have a dual boot system (Windows/Linux, thunderbird is installed twice) and have to pay for every megabyte, this is very annoying.

Have you considered using a shared profile folder for the dual boot? so the two remain in sync?v It will require a drive both operating systems can access, but most people who dual boot have such. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
otherwise copy the entire profile, not parts of it.

  • How do I identify and get the playlists to migrate to my new computer?

I have an external harddrive with all my ITunes playlists on it.  The library migrated OK.  How do I identify the playlists and get them to migrate to my new computer???

You would have had a quicker response if you had posted in the iTunes forum.
You need to copy the iTunes folder, the one at the top not the iTunes Music library folder to your new computer to move your playlists.

  • After migrating to a new MacBook Air from an older MacBook, iPhoto gets stuck on uploading cache, it just "spins" forever. I downloaded a new iPhoto app and replaced it but when opened it just does the same thing? What is going on?

After migrating to a new MacBook Air from an older MacBook, iPhoto gets stuck on "uploading cache", it just "spins" forever. I downloaded a new iPhoto app and replaced it, but when opened it just does the same thing? What is going on? Where are my photos now? How can I upload photos from my camera without iPhoto?
    Is there a better app?
    Thanks, Chris

Take the system to an Apple store to be fixed or replaced as the one you have has defective hardware.

  • Will my Adobe programs migrate to a new computer

My 6 year old iMac has finally bit the dust. It won't start under any circumstances.  Fortunately, I use TIme Machine so everything is backed up.
But I am wondering if my Adobe programs, such as PS, Elements & Lightroom will properly migrate to my new computer using Time Machine?
Or will I need to find the original installation disks (recently moved & can't find the PS one, and LR & Elements I loaded online)?

coachgns, I've given this some serious thought.
You would first have to boot off the recovery partition to restore from Time Machine and it would wipe your new OS and everything that came with it, iLife iWorks and so on.
You would be replacing it with older OS software and apps that would probably not play well with the new hardware. I don't want you to have more problems than you need.
For OS 10.8.5, legacy PPC apps are no longer supported.
I've only done full restore to the same hardware. You are doing this to a nice new machine and if there is an Apple Store nearby, get an appointment with them on how to best migrate everything off Time Machine to your new Mac.
As for Adobe products, only the Intel based ones can be reinstalled. Photoshop CS3 and later as an example.

  • What to do when signing in after installing on an new computer when I get error message 400?

I have insatlled my Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on my new computer. When trying to sign in to the program, I get the following message:  "Photoshop.com services are currently unavailable.  Please try again later or check your network connections: error 400"
I signed in using my adobe.com id (email address) and my adobe.com password (which work fine).  I am connected to the internet so that is no problem.  WHat do do?

Are you using the PSE9 Organizer? If so are you intending to make an Organizer back-up and then restoring to the new computer or are you starting over?
You can sign-in to revel using the link below if you simply wish to download copies of jpeg's to a folder.

  • After migrating CS3 to new Macbook Pro Retina... I get and error: "Licensing for this product has stopped working"...

Don't have old discs to reinstall nor serial number (unless I can use the serial number that appears on the product info on my previous mac).
I know that there are other forums indicating some steps to take. I've tried some of these steps but have not had much luck.
If I reinstall the programs on my old mac I am afraid that I wont be able to re-access them if I cant get either computer to work...
    Thanks!

The problem is that migrating Adobe applications doesn't work.
You'll have to clean all the CS stuff off the new computer with the Adobe Cleaner tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then install with a new clean install file here:
    Other downloads
However, be aware that CS3 often does not work on the latest Mac OS X versions!

  • After transferring Pro to new computer I get Error 1.  What to do?

I've transferred all files (I think) including cache and preference files. Acrobat opens a file and allows some functions like highlighting but when others are tried I get an installation error (Error 1).  It asks me to reinstall but I have no installer file. What to do?

    Hi,
Adobe does not allow Acrobat to function by only transferring the folder files from one system to the other. You need to install it on a new computer as well.
Please let me know which Acrobat version you are using so that I can provide you with the download link.
You can try to install Acrobat from the following link:
