Error 1406 when installing Adobe Reader 10

We have rolled out Adobe Reader 10 to about 300 workstations.  About 6 of them so far are failing to install due to a 1406 Error see;
Another error of the same flaver follows this one, but does not list a key name.
When deploying with GP it simply fails.  If installed mannualy and the errors are ignored it appears to still work.  When looking at the registry it appears there is no 18DF081C... key to write the NoExplorer value to.  These machines do not have Reader installed according to the Add/Remove Programs.  I do know that at one time Reader 8 was installed.  I suspect that the first time through with this GPO it removed the old reader.  I am guessing there is some kind of trash left someplace.  I have tried a registry cleaner, but it did not help.  Anyone run into this?
Thanks,
Bobby

Webroot anti-virus is the problem.  I went to a machine that I was unable to
install Reader 10 on and first removed Webroot.  It installed just fine.
I need to find out how to modify setting on Webroot to not interfere with the install.  If anyone knows I would appreciate any help.
Thanks JainAkshat

  • Error 160400 when installing adobe reader

How can I solve this problem?
    I am using windows vista.

    Hi,
The error is related to the failure to access Windows Service information.
It would be helpful if you could provide your current Reader version.
Depending on what you have installed, there are different updates available here- http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html
You can download appropriate Update directly and install it without Updater.
Meanwhile, would it be possible for you to send me a content of the Updater log file?
    The file name is AdobeARM.log
It can be found in the folder below on Vista systems:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp

  • Error Message when installing adobe reader 9.1

I have a relatively new HP Pavilion dv6936us Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  I cannot get adobe reader installed.  I always get an error message or it says the install was interrupted.  VERY frustrating!  Please help.  I have tried the automatic download.  Also, the screen says " if download does not start automatically click here to download" and I have tried that too.  Neither work.

Try being sure you are logged in as the administrator and have anti-virus turned off. Other than that, you should go to the Reader forum for that product.

  • Error 2331 when installing Adobe Reader 10.1.3

Adobe automatic updater notified me that I had an update to install. I tried installing it, and got the following message:
Error 2331. Error loading library MSPATCHA or finding entry point ApplyPatchToFileByHandlesEx
I tried Microsoft Fixit, no change. I uninstalled Adobe Reader from Control Panel Add/Remove Software and downloaded Adobe Reader X again, and it won't install--I get the same Error 2331.

One more suggestion; can you try to download and run the MSI installer?

  • When installing adobe reader on my mac it states that the installation is complete, but on same screen it states the there is an internal server error and reader will not work

when installing adobe reader on my mac it states that the install is complete, but on same screen its sets thaw an internal server error has occurred and reader will not work

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem on one of my Macs (MBP 15 Mid-2010 / OS X Yosemite): Both reader and Acrobat Pro download without a hitch. Both also install with no problem.
But once you click the program to open, they both return "an internal error occurred".
I tried downloading three separate copies, and still get the same error message when I install and launch.  I've also uninstalled the previous installations via CleanMyMac2 to make sure it's no longer in the SSD.  Same results.
Am using a new SSD as internal boot drive, with fresh / clean installation of OS X and Apps (previous internal HDD crashed) -- And am seeing errors not only with Acrobat, but also with LR5 which always comes up with a "An error occurred when attempting to change modules" -- inspite or uninstall, download and reinstall.  Not sure if it's a registry issue? (Not even sure if that's the case with OS X).
Do I need to reformat the whole SSD? I hope not!
    Thanks
    Edwin

On the Run window, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.

    Double-click Prohibit non-administrators from applying vendor-signed updates.

  • Adobe Acrobat losing file association when installing Adobe Reader X or XI (Using Cust. Wizard)

    Hello Adobe Forums,
I'm an IT professionnal in a large company, and we've been dealing with an issue using this software.
Using the "Adobe Customization Wizard 9", prior to version X and XI, the following option was available:
    Adobe Acrobat 9:
    Adobe Reader 9:
As you see, the customization wizard of both software allowed you to leave Adobe Acrobat as the default PDF handler.
Now, let's look at the Customization Wizard X
Adobe Acrobat X: (XI has the same options)
Adobe Reader X: (XI has the same options)
Now here, we can see that in Adobe Reader X, we only have "Make Reader the default" or "Installer will decide which will be the default"
I want to keep Adobe Acrobat as the default, so I choose "Installer will decide which product will be the default"
Guess which software becomes the default? Adobe Reader....
So what is happening here is that Adobe Customization Wizard X and XI will NOT let you keep Acrobat as the default, unless you execute a repair or reinstall Acrobat after installing Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader X and XI forces itself to become the default handler, in every option scenario we can find. Adobe Customization Wizard 9 would let you choose to keep Acrobat as the handler. Why was this removed in X and XI?
This is very annoying and causing a lot of grief inside the company. Is there a solution for this?

    Sup guys
My colleague did some research and found the answer in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4457755#4457755
Use "LEAVE_PDFOWNERSHIP=YES" in the command line when installing Adobe Reader to preserve PDF Ownership!

  • Getting Object already exist error when installing adobe reader

I'm unable to install any Adobe application programs on my Windows 7 machine.  I tried Adobe Reader XI, Lightroom 5.6, Photoshop CC, etc.  All resulted with "Object Already Exist" error.  I searched on Adobe site for fix, and there was one to delete Crypto file.  However, this resulted with the same error.  How can I install Adobe Reader?

Your approach is correct in identifying the error.  I used ProcMon from Sysinternals (now Microsoft) and came up with the following events leading up to "Object already exists" error.  The error occurs after opening C:\Users\%account%\AppData\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-....... file.  If the Crypto directory is missing, MSIEXEC.EXE will create along with RSA subdirectory and file name starting with S-1-5.....  There were five NAME NOT FOUND events, and their sequence is
Windows Installer Logging item in HKLM\SOFTWARE registry
C:\Users\%account%\AppData\Local\Temp\MSI7058d.LOG (this file was created at the next step)
Windows Installer Debug item in HKLM\SOFTWARE registry
         FontSubstitution in HKLM\SOFTWARE registry
CTF Known Classes item in HKLM|SOFTWARE registry
I don't know which one causing the error, but my suspicion is the last one. But I don't know how to fix it.  Is there anyone who can give me insight to what is happening and how to fix it?

  • How do you fix Error 1324 when downloading Adobe Reader?

"Error 1324. The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." appears after 96% of download occurs when downloading Adobe Reader onto my home computer Windows XP Home Ed. v2 sp3 64 processor. Tried downloading again and same thing happens - used Windows Internet Explorer as browser. Any ideas on what to do next?  Will try downloading using Google Chrome to see if that works. First time using the forums - think  I need to move it to Adobe Reader Forum
    Message was edited by: denm

Thanks Pat W. I stand corrected. The error report occured during installation. My Pictures and the Adobe folders reside in My Documents - the path(?) C:Documents and Settings/Denise/My Documents/My Pictures. The Adobe folder also resides in the My Documents folder but not within the My Pictures folder. Just wondering where the Adobe folder should be.   If I have an external drive on and a backup copy of Adobe is in it, would that be what you mean by a folder in "My Documents" is pointing to somewhere other than the C: drive? I have turned off my external drive and retried the download. Not successful. Will try your last tip re: the support site from microsoft. Thanks for any other clarification you can provide.
