  • Unknown Error 1418 when restoring ipod

I hope someone can help me fix my Ipod problem. I have the first edition of the U2 Ipod and when I was in Ireland it malfunctioned. I took it to an Apple Store today and they restored it to factory setting using a mac. Well I brought it home, I did what the man at the store said to do and downloaded 7.0 and then when prompted tried to restore the Ipod using Windows. When I did the message "Could not restore ipod, unknown error (1418)" appeared. Does anyone know what this means and what my next step should be?
I am so close to being able to have my Ipod fixed and put my music back into it but I cannot get past this stupid error message. Does anyone know whether he screwed up my Ipod by formatting it using a Mac or what I should do next? The man said my Ipod was corrupted by something, could this be the problem? This is so frustrating because I am so close to having my Ipod back to normal and now don't know what to do. Thanks, would appreciate any help anyone can offer!!

  • An unknown error (2003) when restore iPod Touch

downloaded the latest version of iTunes and tried to restore my iPod touch to iTunes, but it complains that it will have an unknown error (2003). I tried to restore my iPod about 20 times, but the same error comes every time. Then I plug the iPod off my computer and I plugged it in again. But then iTunes was complaining to me that the iPod that I plugged in is on a restore mode. I did everything by correcting the bug and am looking for the whole night Apple.com to answer this problem. I did the thing with Notepad, but it did not help at all. I'm looking for all the troubleshooting and I checked my computer but it did not help at all. I downloaded iTunes again but it did not help. What can I do? When my iPod is in a restore mode, I can not put music on, and I can not even open my iPod. The display shows only the cable and iTunes symbol. Please, help me.

Does nobody have the answer to this question? Was somply tryin to update my ipod touch and it got all the way to the end and saod it couldnt update, then went in to "recovery mode" and needed to restored. Restoring will not work either, (error 2003) And now I too have an ipod that will not do anything! I dont care if it wont update, I just want it back the way it was before I plugged it in and tried to update it. Someone must have the answer to this!

  • Error 1418 when restoring - need help

I am trying to restore my iPod (4th Gen) - when I do it I get prompted for my login and password and then I get "An unknown error has occurred 1418"
I am running the latest iTunes version (7.5) and I tried to plce into a different USB connection and also tried with FireWIre - no luck.
Any suggestions? The only other clue I have is that when I look at the iPod on my Mac is says formatted for Windows (and I am on a MAC).
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Much thanks - Sig.

    first have a read this
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304508
If does not work, put your iPod into disk mode
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
    Then
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
If still cant solve, try to do the Restore for your iPod on a PC

  • Unknown Error 1430 when restoring iPod Classic

    Hi,
Yesterday my ipod Classic froze, so I did a hard reset. However, it gave me a message that I needed to restore it, so I connected it to my Mac and attempted to restore.
Upon connecting it, iTunes detected it in recovery mode, but when trying to run the restore process, it stops after about 20% and gives me the following error message: “unknown error 1430 the iPod could not be restored”.
I have tried all the recommended steps on the Apple troubleshooting guide, including disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting computer, using different usb ports, different user accounts, and a different usb cable, reinstalling itunes and enabling/disabling disk use.
None of these steps have worked and I am out of ideas so I would appreciate any suggestions if other people have encountered this problem before.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Error (48) when restoring iPod

After my iPod stopped responding I had to restore the iPod.
Changing to disk mode was no problem. When connecting the USB the iPod is not always detected by the hardware. Sometimes it does not appear in iTunes at all and sometimes it pops up but capacity and S/N are not displayed.
Normally after a few tries it pops up as a black 60GB drive with correct S/N. When attempting to restore the newest iPod software is downloaded. After completion I get a message "Unknown error (48)" with some additional text about problem with iPod server.
I have run the diagnostics of the network connection and everything passes.
Appreciate the solution to this problem.
    Acer Aspire P4   Windows XP

Yes, the iPod shows up in the My Computer. When I try to format it takes a long time before the Pop ups are there. The format window gives the following info:
    Capacity : 55,7 GB
Filesystem : remains blank and nothing can be selected.
Allocation unit size : remains bland and nothing can be selected.
The iPod does not always show up. When it shows up the data is not always correct. Ie a white iPod, no capacity, no S/N and no software version.
    Thanks Moordrecht

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!
