  • Unknown Error 1418 when restoring ipod

I hope someone can help me fix my Ipod problem. I have the first edition of the U2 Ipod and when I was in Ireland it malfunctioned. I took it to an Apple Store today and they restored it to factory setting using a mac. Well I brought it home, I did what the man at the store said to do and downloaded 7.0 and then when prompted tried to restore the Ipod using Windows. When I did the message "Could not restore ipod, unknown error (1418)" appeared. Does anyone know what this means and what my next step should be?
I am so close to being able to have my Ipod fixed and put my music back into it but I cannot get past this stupid error message. Does anyone know whether he screwed up my Ipod by formatting it using a Mac or what I should do next? The man said my Ipod was corrupted by something, could this be the problem? This is so frustrating because I am so close to having my Ipod back to normal and now don't know what to do. Thanks, would appreciate any help anyone can offer!!

  • Error 1418 when restoring - need help

I am trying to restore my iPod (4th Gen) - when I do it I get prompted for my login and password and then I get "An unknown error has occurred 1418"
I am running the latest iTunes version (7.5) and I tried to plce into a different USB connection and also tried with FireWIre - no luck.
Any suggestions? The only other clue I have is that when I look at the iPod on my Mac is says formatted for Windows (and I am on a MAC).
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Much thanks - Sig.

    first have a read this
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304508
If does not work, put your iPod into disk mode
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
    Then
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
If still cant solve, try to do the Restore for your iPod on a PC

  • Error 9006/When restoring, fails processing file

Hey, I aam trying all I can to restore my iPad mini with iTunes on windows. Half way through the process, SURPRISE! Error 9006 pops up and just says an unknown error has occurred. Please, anyone at all, help!

    Hello Jcastellano1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For error 9006 when restoring your iPad, it is likely some security software on your Windows PC that is preventing iTunes from connecting to Apple's servers.  Take a look at the link below for troubleshooting this issue.

  • ITunes error 1646 when restoring?

When I click on "Restore,"  the restoring process will get to around "Preparing iPod for Restore," then it will say the iPod can't be restored - Error 1646.  Then my iPod boots up as normal and acts like nothing happened to it.  I'm using official Apple cables that came with my device.  Any suggestions?

In the article Resolve iOS update and restore errors this is what it says about error 1:
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
