Error 1477: Failed to write to eDirectory. Verify ...

Hi!
NW 5.1 (master) SP8, NW 6.0 SP5, ZFD 4.0.1 (iR6). Windows XPp WS. C1
1.3.6d.
Strange. yesterday I could from mine admin-workstation remotely manage
WS's, but today I got error: "Error 1477: Failed to write to eDirectory.
Verify that the Remote Operator has rights to perform the operation.". I
see no error or abends from server side nor any (beside this one)
strange "behavior" etc. No changes made.
I tried on second admin-machine (this is running for backup-admin) and
same result. Overnight!
Any ideas?
More thanks, Alar from Tartu Uni, Estonia.

I also have the problem. Any lead to how to fix this?
Kind regards,
Rob

  • Using digital editions 2.0, I cannot transfer books downloaded to digital editions from library to my nook.  Error message: failed to write destination file.

Using digital editions 2.0, I cannot transfer books downloaded to digital editions from the library to my nook.  I get an error message: failed to write destination file. At first, this happened once in a while but now every time. Help!!!

Modern kobo books should just use regular Adobe DRM and be readable on compatible ereaders that are authorized to the correct Adobe ID.
I understand older kobo book had different DRM: but I wouldn't expect those to
When Adobe DRM book information say 'no copying', that generally means no copying outside those Adobe DRM limitations.
You should be able to copy within the restrictions.  You can double-check that with the sellers (Kobo).
    Just double-checking
the pocket book is Adobe DRM compatible?
that you have authorized your pocket book with your current Adobe ID?
menu/Help/Authorize Device when plugged into ADE:  Library/Authorize Device if using the older more reliable ADE 1.7.2
If the pocket book is already authorized but to a different ID, you will need to deauthorize it first, ctrl-shift-E to ADE with device plugged in (or cmd-shift-E on Mac).
Be aware that will lose the ability to read DRM books authorized with the previous ID.

  • Ebook error message: "Fail to write destination file error"

I am attempting to transfer ebooks (checked out via my library's ebook consortium) from Adobe Digital Editions to my Nook. I have done this in the past with no issues, but recently I have been getting the following error message: "Fail to write destination file error".
I know the issue is NOT lack of space on my Nook (I cleared it of all info and still received the error message).

I had this problem as well, and after doing some research via google (because I found NOTHING helpful in adobe forums), I found the problem....my Nook was full.  I had no idea this was even possible!  But, I borrow a lot of library books, and didn't realize that after they expire, they are still taking up space on my Nook.  Here's how to check: plug your Nook into your computer, go to file manager (right-click the start button in Windows), find the Nook drive and right click, choose properties.  This should show you a pie chart of used/free space on your Nook.  If this is the case, you need to remove some files from your Nook.  For me, I had to find the Digital Editions file and delete all the thumbnails and actual files for the library books.  If it's booked you've purchased, perhaps you need to archive some books.  Hope this helps!

  • We've been downloading books to our nook for years but recently keep getting error message "failed to write destination file"  - why?

what is "failed to write destination file"?

  • Hi I am getting error code failed to write destination file when trying to transfer an e book

Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix?

Try copying something from your computer to the eBook using file manager such as Windows Explorer.
That might fail giving a more useful error message (such as 'no space available').
Or, if it works, at least it pins down the problem more precisely as an ADE related issue, and maybe it can be tracked from there.

  • When attempting to transfer ebooks from library to Nook I get error message "Failed to write destination file."

Any help here? The ebooks work fine on the computer, so it's not the download itself that's the problem.

I did that prior to coming here. I've done everything that is mentioned there with no change in the situation.

  • Error 1477 on remote management

Every time I try to start a remote management session i get the error 1477
"Failed to write to eDirectory". I can't find much on this error. The only
problem seems to be with ipx only 4.x servers.
I run Netware 6.5 sp5 with zen 4.0.1 with its latest ir patch.
The workstation has the latest zen agent and runs win xp sp2 with firewall
    fully disabled.
When sniffing packets on the destination machine i see it communicating
with the edirectory and requesting policies.
On the workstation the logs report that the connection with the agent was
    unexpectedly closed.
Password based remote management works perfectly.
Anyone has an idea what could be wrong??

I have also tried TDK, Maxell, Verbatim and Sony media
Me too. Out of that list the only brand that has NEVER produced a coaster (on the same burner as yours) is Verbatim DVD-R and Fuji DVD-R. All the others produced a 25-50% failure rate.
Have you tried burning at a slower speed?
Using 16x DVD media is fine - in fact it is difficult to buy any other - but there is a consensus in the Apple Support Forums that a slower burn is a better burn i.e. 2x or 4x (slow burns are better burns!). I always use Toast for burning.
The term "Best" means the fastest speed that the drive told Toast it can write to a specific disc. The drive's firmware and info on the disc decide what speed burns are available. When you press the speed setting button in Toast (after inserting a disc) you'll likely see some speeds in italics and some in bold face. The ones in bold face are supported by that media on that drive. The fastest one is what Toast calls Best.
Audio CDs in particular should be burned at the lowest supported speed.
Verification is a good indicator the disc is burned okay. However, other DVD players can still have problems with the disc. Media problems with various drives is not uncommon. Slower burning may reduce the chance of those problems, and is one of the reasons why RW (read/write) media is always rated slower than DVD-R.
There are some interesting facts here:
    http://www.osta.org/technology/dvdqa/dvdqa4.htm and here:
    http://www.osta.org/technology/dvdqa/dvdqa4.htm
But many will tell you that the 'slower burn is best' theory is outdated. Who really knows? At the end of the day, if your home-made DVD was verified by Toast and will play anywhere on anybody's DVD player, then that is the result we are all after!

  • Credential Roaming failed to write to the Active Directory. Error code 5 (Access is denied.)

    Hi All,
I could see following error event in all client computers , Could you please some one help me on this ?

If you are not using certificates and Credential Roaming for clients then simply ignore the error message.
If you are using certificates then you are getting access denied message when Credential Roaming is trying to write to your AD. More details about Credential Roaming here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/01/06/certs-on-wheels-understanding-credential-roaming.aspx

  • Error message on brand new WLC2504; "Failed to write...."

    Hello!
I have received a new WLC2504 for my lab, which is nice....  :-)
What's not so nice is that I get a mysterious error message on the console. It appeared when the wizard started at first boot and it apperars at every startup since.
I have gone through the wizard twice and reset to factory defaults in between but the error message persists. It looks like this :
    (Cisco Controller)
Enter User Name (or 'Recover-Config' this one-time only to reset configuration to factory defaults)
User:  Failed to write I2C device: Input/output error
    [i2c_wr_to_wdt_timer_reg]Got error -1 during tx.

Is this unit ready for RMA/DOA or can I somehow force it into normal behaviour..?.. The GUI appears to be working normally.

I would suggest talked to TAC & RMA if that is their view on this.
Normally you should not get any errors like this on console, if it is working properly

Could you check the Advanced tab of the Flat File Connection Manager to see whether the InputColumnWidth and the OutputColumnWidth properties of the Column2 has the same value? Please refer to the following link about the same topic:
