Error 148:3

I am getting error 148:3 when I try to open adobe acrobat 9 pro, and all of the other adobe products in my suite.  Does anyone have a solution to this?

    yes, this is a licensing error and most of them can only be fixed with a reinstall and proper serialization.

    One post talks about this error being a license error. The post talks about going to Start and entering services.msc to get the services window. Go down and check the the FLEXnet License service is running. That may be the issue, not sure. The Adobe link for information is at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-licensing-stopped-windows.html. Is this a stand-alone installation or something in the "cloud?" I am just referring you to what I found, not necessarily the correct answer (I have not tried it).

    Install any Adobe CS4 product on a Windows OS and the software adds some number of Startup items to MSCONFIG including CS4ServiceManager, AdobeCollabSync and a blank line with no Startup file name or Command Line entry.
    Until Adobe's products added those Startup items, I had no software loading from my MSCONFIG Startup group. The blank line was disconcerting so I unchecked it. That, apparently, triggered the dreaded "error 148:3" message about a licensing problem. That error can be resolved by running LicenseRecover.exe, a file available for download from somewhere on the Adobe.com site. However, as long as the blank line in MSCONFIG is unchecked, CS4 products will continue to not run and will continue to display the 148:3 error message.
    So...what does the blank line in MSCONFIG do? What is it? How is it that Adobe can add an unnamed Startup item to MSCONFIG?

    I am using Adobe design premium CS4. It used to work well but recently it has stopped working and displaying error :148:3. I would appreciate if someone could help me to solve this issue.

    You have not provided any system information, so we can't advise specifically. This is a licensing error and the standard "cure" is to reinstall the software properly.

    I received error 148.3 (licensing for this product has stopped working). I looked up the error, but the fix says it is only for "... Creative Suite 3 or 4 products, Acrobat 8 or 9, Photoshop Elements 6, 7 or 8, Director, and Technical Communication Suite." and RoboHelp is not mentioned. Is RoboHelp part of the Technical Communication Suite?  I tried phoning support, but the person had not even heard of RoboHelp. Does anyone know how I rebuild the license file? Note that Acrobat professional comes up okay. I need to compile soon for a product release and feel so frustrated.

    And we're back. Writing the question made me check what the Technical Communication Suite is. It includes RoboHelp, so I went ahead with the LicenseRecover as recommended on the Adobe site and the system now works.

    It seems that there might be some gremlin in the licensing module. The PS CS4 board has several similar instances. I do not know exactly what the problem is, but this should be an easy reset by Adobe. It has worked for the PS users and requires one free telephone call. I am with Harm on this. I doubt that many, if any, users can be of much help. The installation issues *used* to be simple and quick, but I have not had to make that call, since Illustrator 3. Have your S/N handy. If you purchased from the Adobe Store, a receipt # might come in handy too. Once your product has been verified, you'll probably be asked to enter a key, and away you go.

  • Error 148:3 and FlexNet Licensing Service

    I have been bothered with Windows event  of  "event 7000, adfsservice not
    started" during boot-up.
    After long investigation I found killing "FLEXNET Licensing Servive" resolves
    this problem.
    Note that this service was not and is not running ever on my machine anyway.
    On the other hand, I occasionaly experience Error 148:3 when starting CS4.
    (I am a licensed user :-)  )
    Thie error happens before and after the modification of FLEXNET disablement.
    I, today, was informed that the FLEXNET is for CS4 licensing check.
    Now,  
    Is the error 148:3 related to my machines no FLEXNET serivice?
    If so, how can I resolve this problem?

    I had the same error and going through Control Panel / Admin / Services solved the problem.  I can now open DreamWeaver.

    Oh, for what it is worth, just before this error 148:3 happened to me in DW, I upgraded from IE 6 to IE 8, and then added SP3 to my XP Pro operating system.

    Trying to open PPro CS4.  Won't run & I get "Error: 148:3".  This happened at the same time I had to reauthorize WinXP  (can't figure out why I had to do that).  Yes, it's an older system, but it does exactly what we want.  Upgrading would not be cost effective for what we are now doing.  I need to get this running ASAP.  Or find a quality but inexpensive way to capture analog video to AVI without sync problems.  Thank you all!
