Error 15000 Airport Express

Hi all, I`m new on here so please bear with me.
I purchased a new apple airport  express the other day from currys, I then ordered a toslink cable from Amazon which came today to connect via optical connection.
1)  I connected the AE to my existing network with an ethernet cable into the WAN connector/socket  - WIFI turned off on AE.
2)  connected the 3.5 mini to optical to the CD connection on my amplifier.
3)  connected the power
4)  Went through the set up to connect to existing network via ethernet - I beliece this was done correctly - IP address given with  **.**.**. 37
green light on AE downstairs and on google someone said to ping the ip address, which I did and got a reply.
5)  Itunes sees my AE in the tab next to the slider top left corner, shows computer or " dils Airport Express"  with a tick and a speaker icon.
6)   choose some music and click play, nothin  comes back with pop up.....an error occured etc and then - unknown error occured.......(-15000 )
7)   Airport base station agent does not have any devices showing in there. ( don`t know if it should ?)
Windows 7 - 64 bit  Fritzbox router.
I have tried uninstalling / re- installing itunes  -  re-boots both pc and router.
Is there a "how to" for connecting AE just for itunes playback at all - or someone had the same probs who found a workaround ?
Help please, I have googled and searched everywhere and if I had any hair left I would pull it out, my last resort is to ask here otherwise its back to Currys for a refund and get one of those Lindy wifi things..
Any help or advise appreciated thank you

I receive this message "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device" when trying to play audio from iTunes on Macbook Pro to my airport express and/or apple tv. Both airport express and apple tv work fine with my iphone and ipad as well as streaming video from itunes library to apple tv from the Macbook. I have tried the previously posted solutions, but nothing has worked yet.

  • Error in Airport Express

I cannot run Airport Express with an old CPU with Windows Vista. I download a version of Utility Airport good for Vista, but the cpu do not find the Airport Express. If I try with manual Configuration I obtain ERROR 6753

The Windows firewall is likely blocking the connection attempt from AirPort Utility to the AirPort Express.
Check the Firewall settings in the Control Panel of the PC.
The anti-virus settings can do the same thing as well as Microsoft Security Essentials, if you are running that on your PC.
In the past, I have had to turn off both the Windows firewall and anti-virus to get the PC to connect to the AirPort Express. Once the Express has been configured, you can turn the firewall and antivirus back on.
It also may help to temporarily connect an Ethernet cable from the PC to the Express for configuration. You can disconnect the Ethernet cable once the Express is set up.

  • "extended network" error with airport express

i have my time capsule set up in my living room as the primary, and since there are several concrete walls in my house, i need to extend the wifi connection in order to get signal from my room which is located at the very end of my house.  I've had my airport express placed near the doorway of my room which should be getting a clear signal from time capsule in the living room.
everything works fine for few days, and the blinking amber light started going off on the airport express.  and from the airport utility it shows 1 notification on my airport express.  It said an error of "extended network", if i choose to ignore it, the indication light turns back to green, but then i wont be able to connect to the internet.
is there some kind of settings need to be adjusted?  please help~~~
    my settings on airport express:
    Router Mode: Off (Bridge Mode)
    Connect using: DHCP
    Configure IPv6: Link-Local Only

i've tried to plug the airport express literally right next to the time capsule, and it still showing the "extended network" error message.  so it can't be the signal strength issue.
    Help please....
    additonal info:
    my time capsule (primary) :
    Connect Using - DHCP
    Router Mode: DHCP and NAT
    DHCP Range: 10.0.1.2 to 10.0.1.200
    my airport express (extension) :
    Connect Using - DHCP
    IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.10
    Router Address: 10.0.1.1
    DNS Servers: 10.0.1.1

  • Error on Airport Express when using to extend Airport Extreme Base Station

I have had continual problems trying to get my Airport Express (n) to extend my Airport Extreme Base Station.  The signal it is receiving is "good".  The settings are correct (as far as I can tell) and it was working for a brief period of a month or so.
Now it is not working and I have a red 1 in a circle (like an update is needed... but it will not take me to an update) on the Sirport Express in my Airport Utility.
Under "Status", it says "Extended Network" with a green crcle, but the main circle on by the name is flashing green, and will not send a signal.
Also in "Status", it says this: "This AirPort base station was unable to extend the wireless network. Make sure the wireless network you're trying to extend was set up and is working correctly, that you entered a matching wireless network password into this device, and that this device is in range of the wireless network."
I have done all of those and yet..... STILL not working. Ugh.
    Any thoughts?  Procedures?
    Thanks in advance.

At this point, I would suggest that you perform a "factory default" reset on the AirPort Express. In its default mode, the Express will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN.
Your Mac should recognize that there is a "new" AirPort Express present. You will find this on the dropdown menu from the AirPort icon on the OS X menu bar. Select the Express from the dropdown menu and the AirPort Utility should automatically start up to allow you to configure it.

  • Can't Reconnect AirPort Express to my Network

    Hello all,
So I have somewhat of a problem here, and I'm hoping to get some input. Basically, my house is 3 stories. In the basement, we have a room with all of our networking hardware (our modem with an AirPort Extreme router). On the 2nd floor of the house, there's an AirPort Express in the kitchen. On the 3rd floor, there was an AirPort Express in my parent's room, which I just recently unplugged to move to my room (I needed an extra ethernet port source ). Anyways, in AirPort utilities, I had everything set up perfectly fine. Both AirPort Expresses were set to "Extend Network," which is how we wanted it. Now, for some reason, the AirPort Express in the kitchen got the error message "AirPort Express was previously part of your network." So, I clicked "Forget" and was just going to set it up again by selecting it from the drop-down menu and going from there. The only thing is, it's not there... I don't know how moving the Express on the 3rd floor led to this, but it did. Any ideas on how to get it back? There's all green lights across the board (AirPort Extreme in the basement, AirPort Express in the kitchen, AirPort Express in my room). The connection in the kitchen is a bit iffy, but in all other spots across the house it's 100% fine.
    Thank you!

    Welcome to the discussions!
Many schools prohibit the creation of wireless networks, so you might want to check on this before you try it.
You may want to temporarily connect an ethernet cable from your computer to the AirPort Express for the configuration. After the configuration is done, connect the ethernet cable to the wall jack and the AirPort Express.
Configure your AirPort Express (AX) as follows:
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons to setup your wireless network. You want to "Create a wireless network" and enter your network name, security and password.
    Then click the Internet icon
Look for the Connection Sharing setting at the bottom of the page and set this to "Off (Bridge Mode)"
Update to save changes and the AX will restart

  • ITunes (and Airfoil) can see Airport Express but can't connect in Windows XP (error -15000) - firewall problems?

I am using Windows XP Professional 2002 w/ SP3 on a Dell Latitude E4300 laptop wirelessly connecting to my Airport Express 802.11n (firmware 7.5.2).
I can see my Airport Express in iTunes 10.4.1 and can select it via the Airplay button. iTunes even detects whether or not a speaker is connected to the Airport Express. But when iTunes tries to connect, it comes back after a while saying "An error occurred while connecting to the Airplay device xxx. An unknown error occurred (error -15000)."
A similar problem happens with Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba that I use to stream music from other apps such as VideoLAN to Airport Express on the same laptop. I can see that my Airport Express is available but when Airfoil tries to connect, it comes back saying "It appears that a firewall on this computer is preventing Airfoil from connecting to xxx Airport Express. Please check your firewall settings and try again."
I've set both Airplay and iTunes as exception programs in my Windows Firewall setting, and even added TCP ports 5000 to 5005 and UDP ports 6000 to 6005 to the exceptions as recommended by Airfoil. I've also disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection that Ihave installed. The only thing I can't disable is McAfee Endpoint Encryption, since I also use the laptop at work and I don't have permission to disableMcAfee.  I use this laptop to connect wirelessly with other devices such as HP wireless printers, NAS drives and other laptops on my home network and have never had any issues, so i think that this issue is specific to the Airplay software being blocked by some firewall (I am assuming Airfoil also uses Airplay).
I've tried this on different wireless networks and I have the same issue with Windows XP on my Dell Latitude E4300. I've also set up the network with no security, but the problem doesn't go away.
I also tried downgrading iTunes to 10.3.1 but won't work. I think it's an Airplay issue, not a specific iTunes issue, since I'm facing the problem with Airfoil as well.
How do I trace what is going on that is preventing iTunes and Airfoil from streaming to the AirportExpress within Windows XP?
I also have another Dell Inspiron laptop on the same network running on Windows Vista, and have no problems streaming music from iTunes or Airfoil to the Airport Express on the same network, even when the network is WPA-2 Personal (TKIP+AES) protected (I've seen other postings where WPA has been an issue, WEP has not, but in my case, this is not an issue). Ditto with my iPad2.
    Thanks for your help!

I have the same problem with Windows 7 64bit. ITune can see AE and stream Music well. Airfoil, TuneBlade (airplay soft) can also see AE but can't connect and stream music. I ' ve already tried to setup firewall Exception list, even turning off firewall off both windows and antivirus but still got the same problem with the message 'Airfoil was unable to connect to the remote speaker " ... 's Airport Express". Please check the firewall on the computer where " ...'s Airport Express" is running and try again'. Any help would be appreciated !.

  • ITunes on Windows Vista PC can't connect to AirPort Express. PC returns error message -15000

I'm running PC with Vista and newest update iTunes.
I have set up a network through my AirPort Express, and i am streaming music wirelessly from my PC to AirPort. This used to work, but now i get an error message saying that an error occured while connecting to the AirPort, with the error code -15000. What's wrong? this used to work earlier?
This is particularly annoying since it used to work, until the latest (or the one before that) iTunes update.
    Need help!

This is always a Windows firewall problem. Try opening UDP port 6002 in your firewall software.

  • Error -15000 when trying to play to Airport Express speakers

I've got a brand spanking new Dell laptop that came with Windows 8 installed, although I quickly updated to Windows 8.1  During that time, iTunes has never been able to connect to my Airport Express speakers.  I used them just fine with my old computer under Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Until yesterday, whenever I tried to connect to a speaker, the program would pause for about 30 seconds, then give me the dreaded -15000 error.
Later yesterday I reconfigured my firewall (McAfee LiveSafe Internet Security) to not only allow iTunes to do whatever it wants with the network, but also to specifically open TCP and UDP ports associated with iTunes in the hopes of getting it working.
Now it doesn't give me the -15000 error, but it fails silently (without a popup). It doesn't connect to the speaker, but just leaves me with the computer speaker selected.
    Any idea what's going wrong?

Just to add to the discussion, I removed McAfee entirely, rebooted several times, and it still didn't work.  The same problem happens with a tablet PC running Windows 8.1 and using the Windows Firewall.
My Airport Express Speakers are all First-Generation - is it possible that the First Generation Airport Express doesn't work with Windows 8.1?

  • Error (-15000) when connecting to Airport Express

Hi I have been using my Airport express to stream from my Itunes for about a year now. I haven't used the setup in a few weeks, but I tried today and now I am getting an error (-15000). I went though the forums and I saw a couple older posts about firewalls or IPV6. I've gone though and disabled my firewalls and shut off the IPv6 and still have the problem. I've also tried power cycling the Airport express. One thing that is odd I can get to the Airport from the configuration tool. So I know I can "see" the Airport on my network. The only major change I can think of since last I used the Airport was I upgraded the version of Itunes on my computer to 9.2.
I am running 10.6.4 on my MBP and the Airport is running 7.4.2.
Has anyone else had issues since upgrading to 9.2?

I had the same problem, intermittent to the point of frustration. I followed the instructions in tech issue
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224 ,
as referred in another post. As soon as I restarted, no error message. I need to add, I have another cpu that did not have the connection problem.
    Good Luck!

  • Error -15000 when streaming to AirPort Express base stations

I have the latest iTunes 8.0.2
The firmware updated to the latest in AirPort Express
    PC: Windowds XP, SP2
When I try to stream music to AirPort Express from Itunes I get Error -15000
I have tried everything according to the support pages with no success. In some support pages the solution is only for Mac. How do I solve this problem for PC with Windows XP?

Welcome to the discussions forum divonka.
I realize those documents refer to OS X, but I'd suggest your problem is similar. Try disabling your Windows firewall. If that works, find a way to open UDP port 5353 as explained in this document. Hope it helps!
