  • Error message starting up Flash CS5 -- appears to be caused by welcome screen

    Hello,
    I am running windows 7 64-bit, flash player debug (10.1 from labs) and CS5 Master collection.
    I staretd noticing an issue today -- Flash Professional CS5 has begun to freeze on opening it. I eventually get the message "a script in this movie is causing flash player to run slowly. if it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?". At this point, I am not running any movies, I am just trying to open flash Pro CS5. When I choose to click "yes" (eg abort the script), then the buttons on the welcome screen do not work. When I click "no" (and do not abort the script) then flash crashes some time in the first 5 minutes of authoring.
    I also noticed that if I disable the opening page (check "do not show again") and reopen flash -- then no problem
    Any ideas on what is happening - anyone?
    Thank you

    Hello
    Just wanted to report back this was a simple issue -- it turned out to be a corrupted configuration file for Flash CS5. I called Adobe tech support and an engineer helped me to do the following. Please remember I am running windows 7 (64 bit), so this is what I did for that OS ...
    First I closed flash CS5 pro. Then I navigated as follows ... from the C drive ==> then to the users file ==> then to my user file ==> then to appdata (this is normally hidden, so just unhide files or type appdata as next drill-down in navigation window after your user file) ==> then to Local ==> then to Adobe ==> then to Flash CS5 ==> then to en_US ==> then to configuration. Then I renamed the configuration file (to configurationold)
    I restarted flash pro CS5 -- and problem solved.
    Thanks kglad and everyone

  • Error Message After Updating flash

    I just finished reformatting my hard drive and i was using
    the internet. I got this message at the bottom of my computer
    "there is a new version of micromedia flash click here to update"
    so i clicked it. Now whenever i go to a web site that uses flash i
    get an error message! and the whole thing will close. Can someone
    plese help me!

    Hi Pat,
    When I click on the link to http://get.adobe.com/uk/flashplayer/ I am
    redirected to http://get.adobe.com/es/flashplayer/  which is also where I
    end up if I pick any European country with English next to it from the
    country options on the bottom left of the adobe install flash page.
    I bought a new laptop last year with windows 8 which has since been updated
    to 8.1  I am not sure when/how I installed Flash but it was definitely
    listed in add/remove programs and I uninstalled it this morning.  However
    IE does still report that Flash is installed. I think I am just going to
    leave things alone, if something that doesn't have Flash needs it I will
    look again.  But somebody at adobe does need to look into the bizarre
    redirect to an install page in Spanish.
    Thanks, Andrew

  • Bug: Flash CS5+CS4 Professional crashes when compiling AS2 classes.

    My name is Mario Gomes Cavalcanti, I'm the CEO of Mersica Inc. and the developer of the free, online graphic design software, image and photo editor Fatpaint.com.
    Fatpaint is a Flash application, made using the Actionscript 2 programming language. This week we added some new functionality to the source code and after that, Flash CS5 professional IDE can no longer compile the project, it crashes on every attempt without any error messages.
    We are talking here about a huge project with around 360 Actionscript 2 classes. The size if the our last successful compiled SWF file was around 800 kilobytes. This compilation wa done last week, prior to the latest addition/modification of source files. The project is mostly made of Actionscript 2 source code, it do not have much other stuff in it.
    I would like assistence is resolving this issue... Why does Flash CS5 crash when compiling my Actionscript 2 classes?
    I would like to send the project and source files to the developers of the Flash actionscript 2 compiler, so they can see why it cannot compile my files.
    Fatpaint.com is probably the Flash application with the most sourcecode (classes) so I think it has something to do with that.
    My system:
    Windows 7 64bit
    Adobe Flash CS5 professional version 11.0.2.489
    Thank you.

    We managed to compile the project using Flash Pro 8, and we also got in touch with Adobe and sent them the source files of our Flash editor.
    It's been a month now and they still have not released a fix.

  • Error message boxes on duplicate drag in Flash CS5.5

    Hi I wanted to report a problem I've been having with Flash CS5.5 on MacOS 10.5.8
    When I drag an element (usually a line or shape) with the alt key pressed (in order to create a duplicate on the stage) sometimes I get a couple of message boxes appear that say "Panel x could not be created removing it from the list" where x is a number like 7 or 9. After I click through these the swatches panel appears in the middle of the screen.
    This is quite annoying and holds me up as I have to click through these boxes & then close the swatches panel.
    Hope you're able to address this error in future builds.
    Cheers

  • Runtime error running Flash CS5

    Hello,
    I have this weird issue with Flash Professional CS5. It has worked just fine for me in the past but when i try to start it now it gives me the following error:
    "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
    Please contact the applications support team for more information"
    What could be causing this error and more importantly how do i fix it?
    Thanks in advance

    The title of the pop up is Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
    Then it shows the folder where Flash.exe is located.
    I think that the last time i used Flash is about 2 months ago and it worked fine. Now i can´t start the program at all cause of this error.
    The error occurs after it tries to load the program.

  • Flash CS5 ActionScript not working after 2-3mins

    Hi,
    I am using CS5 Design Premium and encounter a very crazy flash problem..... i used the AS3 and made an object move for 100 frames. Added a AS to stop at 50th frame. basically using stop();  for the AS. but it doesnt work when i test it. so i close and open the flash CS5 again and tested it and it worked.   after about 2-3mins into using the program i didn't touch anything and test the movie again and it doesnt stop at the frame with the AS. So i tried closing the program and opening it again and tested it and worked again.....so i did a few try and error and found the software i open for the first few minutes tested the movie and it function normally but once after a couple of minutes the AS no longer worked.
    can i know if there is any settings to ensure AS is being detected through out the using of the software or it is the software having some problems?

    You should provide the code you're using and describe what it's supposed to be doing.  While it might be a bug in CS5, it is possible the code is causing the performance issue.

  • Runtime Error when launching Flash CS5 in Windows Vista 32bit

    I installed Flash CS5 as a Trial and when i tried to launch it the error message appears on the screen:
    Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error
    This application has requested Runtime to terminated it in a unusual way.
    Please contact the applications support team  for more information.
    I already tried to re-install Vista again and even tried to install flash in XP with the same unsucess result.

    Hi Fmk,
    It would be great if we have the installation log files. However you can try these.
    1.Check whether your system meets the minimum requirements.
    2. Install the current Windows Service Pack and other updates.
    Try reinstalling.

  • Creating a SDK (.swc) in Adobe Flash CS5 - Error + Best Practices Questions

    Hello all,
    I'm currently developing a client library for a server-based API which is developed by my company.
    The goal is for the .swc to be usable in both Flash and Flash Builder (any Actionscript environment, really).  So far I've just been creating it in Flash CS5 and have yet to test it in Flash Builder.  It contains a single piece of UI (a login window) but is intended to expose a number of actionscript classes as API interface points to the developer.  The login window is a single Movie Clip placed onto the stage.  I have been testing by simply running the Flash project for the SDK and it works well.
    However, I run into problems when I attempt to use the SWC in other projects (I have the Flash project for the SDK set to create a SWC as well as a SWF)...
    I link the SWC to the other project using the flash compiler settings
    com.mycompany.SDK is a class required for initialization (singleton) and com.mycompany.LoginWindow is the UI window for logging in
    The developer needs to call SDK.Initialize(), which seems to work fine
    When the following code is added I get the below error: addChild(new LoginWindow())
    1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: InstanceInfo.
    I take it that the error is a result of an undefined class - but I cannot figure out where InstanceInfo (it is not a class of mine) is being used or how to fix this...

    Found a good example that helped me figure this out.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/quickstart/articles/xml_prefs.html
    Will share the results when complete.
    Thanks

    Hi Guys,
    I am having a problem opening my Flash CS5 after it working fine since I installed it forever ago. I do not know what could have caused this, and my other cs5 programs are opening fine.

    You should be able to cherry pick Flash out to uninstall and reinstall it from the master suite installer if I remember correctly. There's nothing wrong with a fresh reinstall, especially after years. That's a long time to be bulletproof.
    Otherwise I can't hand you a commercial DLL but I really don't think your problems will be fixed even if I did. I think it's just hardware doing what it's notorious for, eventually having a fault somewhere. A reinstall of Flash should be fast and will write to new sectors and fix the file.

  • CameraRoll MediaEvent.SELECT 1119 error in Flash CS5.5

    Hi, I've been struggling with this for a few days and have searched everywhere for a solution but haven't been able to  fix it. If anyone can give me any leads or suggestions to help fix this I will be eternaly grateful.
    I have made a simple app in Flash CS5.5 and am publishing it with AIR for iOS. I am trying to get an image from the iPhone cameraRoll to load to a scrollPane on the stage using this code (I don't need to save the image anywhere, just display it on the stag). The scrollPane is called 'imageArea' and the button to initiate cameraRoll.browseForImage(); is called select_btn.
    I've tried this both in the main timeline on frame 1 and also as a class of it's own, either way I get the same error:
    1119: Access of possibly undefined property SELECT through a reference with static type Class
    which points to this line:
    mediaSource.addEventListener(MediaEvent.SELECT,imageSelected );
    and
    1119: Access of possibly undefined property data through a reference with static type Media event
    which points to this line:
    var imagePromise:MediaPromise = event.data;
    Below is the code placed on the timeline, which I found online here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/891997?decorator=print&displayFullThread=true
    [AS]
    import flash.media.CameraRoll;
    import flash.media.MediaPromise;
    import flash.media.MediaType;
    import flash.events.MediaEvent;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;
    import flash.display.StageAlign;
    import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
    var mediaSource:CameraRoll = new CameraRoll();
    select_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, CameraStart);
    function CameraStart(event:MouseEvent) : void
    CameraRollTest();
    function CameraRollTest()
    this.stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
    this.stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
        if (CameraRoll.supportsBrowseForImage)
        log( "Browsing for image..." );
        mediaSource.addEventListener(MediaEvent.SELECT,imageSelected );
        mediaSource.addEventListener(Event.CANCEL, browseCanceled );
        mediaSource.browseForImage();
        } else {
        log( "Browsing in camera roll is not supported.");
    var imageLoader:Loader;
    function imageSelected( event:MediaEvent):void
    log( "Image selected..." );
    var imagePromise:MediaPromise = event.data;
    imageLoader = new Loader();
        if (imagePromise.isAsync)
        log( "Asynchronous media promise." );
        imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE, imageLoaded );
        imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener( IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, imageLoadFailed );
        imageLoader.loadFilePromise( imagePromise );
        } else {
        log( "Synchronous media promise." );
        imageLoader.loadFilePromise( imagePromise );
        imageArea.addChild( imageLoader );
    function browseCanceled( event:Event ):void
    log( "Image browse canceled." );
    function imageLoaded( event:Event ):void
    log( "Image loaded asynchronously." );
    imageArea.addChild( imageLoader );
    function imageLoadFailed( event:Event ):void
    log( "Image load failed." );
    function log( text:String ):void
    trace( text );
    [/AS]
    My only idea is that I need to import the class for mediaEvent, but I already am. I'm completely stuck on this and any help would be really appreciated.

    Moving the .fla file to a new folder removed this problem.
