Error 16 when installing Acrobat XI Pro

I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for Palomar Audubon use. While installing on a PC running Windows 8.1 I received an "error 16" message instructing me to uninstall/reinstall the program. Since then I have been informed that 1.) the entered serial number (<Serial Number removed by moderator >) is invalid and 2.) I need to uninstall and reinstall the program. At my wits end I ask that SOMEBODY can solve this dilemma for me. Let me know at: < Email ID Removed by Moderator >Although I have previously been very pleased with available donations through TechSoup I am gradually becoming more and more disheartened by this installation problem?
Now another message:
Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server.

  • Error 1603 when installing Acrobat XI Pro - no luck with any suggestions

Hi all - I have been trying to download Acrobat XI Pro via the Creative Cloud installer, but I'm getting the following message:
ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation.
    MSI Error message:
ERROR: Third party payload installer AcroPro.msi failed with exit code: 1603
I have successfully installed Photoshop and InDesign in the same way.  I have tried the following suggestions from the Community:
    Empty Temp folder
    Re-register msiexec
    Uninstall/Cleanup Tool/Reinstall
It gets to about 42% and fails every time. Any ideas?
    many thanks!

Thanks Ned.  I had already tried those suggestions.  Our IT Ops Manager finally sorted this out by running the installer manually, rather than through the Creative Cloud installer.  It was 'Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 11.0.01', which was not removed via the Cleaner Tool.

  • When installing acrobat XI pro the 'select a product' drop down menu does not include my product?

when installing acrobat XI pro the 'select a product' drop down menu does not include my product?

For future reference... if you have the trial version installed and plan to buy it after trying it out, there is no need to uninstall it.  It can be activted to full use with the serial number from your purchase.
You should still be able to download and install the trial version and use your serial number to activate it.  For the direct download link to the trial below, be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • Error when installing Acrobat 11 Pro under Mac OS 10.8.3

When trying to install Acrobat 11 Pro on my iMac (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, OS 10.8.3) I get an error message saying "installation failed" during the "validating packages" process. The software seems to run o.k., but I'm unable to apply any updates. Any suggestions?

To investigate problem at our end, we require following logs:
    1) /private/var/log/install.log
    2) /tmp/oobelib.log
    3) /tmp/amt3.log
    4) ~/Library/Logs/PDApp.log

  • Error 1311 When Upgrading Acrobat X Pro

I have Acrobat X Pro and have tried upgrading but keep receiving the Error 1311.  How do I fix this issue since I am upgrading and not doing a clean new install?
    Steve

There are various aspects reported online for this error. One suggests a system file problem for Windows (http://www.wiki-errors.com/err.php?wiki=1311 - I am not necessarily recommending this as the issue, but it is one report.) Another option is given by Adobe at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/install-error-1311-1335-or.html. Howver, there is an implied error message given here in terms of a source file not found. All you have indicated is the error number and no message. If there was a message, please post that also. Microsoft posts are generally related to not being able to find a source file also.

  • Error 1401 when installing Acrobat 9 Std on Windows 8.1 on MacMini running Parallels

I am running Windows 8.1 using Parallels version 10.1.3 on a MacMini running OS X 10.10.1. Partway through the install when the status is "Writing system registry values" I get this error:
"Error 1404. Could not create key \Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\Convert to Adobe PDF. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
FYI: I have installed and and uninstalled this very product several times before on my previous machine, but that was running Windows Pro in a bootcamp situation, not through Parallels.
Thank you for any help at all.

  • Error 1612 when installing Acrobat 9 update

I am running Acrobat 9.0 Pro on a Windows XP SP3 system. According to my control panel, the most recent update that has been installed is 9.3.2.
Every time I boot the system, I get a message saying that an Acrobat update is ready to be installed. When I attempt to install it, I receive an Error 1612 which says that the installation file is not present or not accessible.
I have attempted updating with the original installation disk in the DVD drive. Same result.
I have attempted uninstalling the 9.3.2 update or the basic program from the control panel. Same result. (In other words, I can't uninstall either of them, but get Error 1612 instead.)
I have attempted copying the .MSI file from the insallation disk to my hard drive (both the C:\ root directory and the Acrobat directory in C:\Program. Same result.
Has anyone else found a solution for this problem?

Don't you get a little dialog when update is being installed, where you can point to the original installation package?
If not, use original CD from which you installed your application and run installer - do not try to repair or uninstall using ARP or Help\Repair menu.
It seems like Windows Installer Service lost track of where the original installer file got cached on the system.
One copy is saved (renamed) under Windows\Installer folder.
Another copy is under application installation folder.
They both registered by Windows during initial installation, but occasionaly get corrupted.
    Good luck

  • Error 1601 when installing Acrobat 9.5.2. What to do?

I get error 1601 and a failed update message when trying to install the 9.5.2 update of Acrobat. There is plenty of room (I think) on my hard drive. What do I do to install this update?

Are you logged in as the administrator? Do you have anti-virus disabled? Have you tried a repair to your current version? Are you updating from the help menu, or have you downloaded the update from the Adobe.com>downloads?
One Microsoft link suggests it may be a MSI issue and gives several possible solutions. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/error-1601 -windows-installer-is-not-accessible/08dce679-496d-43f4-a4b5-bb467800bb90

  • Invalid serial number error message when installing Acrobat 7

I have my original software CD and serial number but understand that I need to use the downloaded program because Adobe no longer supports the activation code required for installing from the disc.  I was under the impression that I was to use the original serial number.  This is what I used when reinstalling my CS2 Photoshop  in the same circumstances.
I downloaded 22001904.exe and ran it but when it gets to the serial number I receive invalid serial number message no matter how I enter the number.  I even tried cutting and pasting from my Adobe profile, since I have registered the program w/ Adobe previously along with other Adobe programs.
Can you advise me how to proceed?
    Sincerely,
    brokripananda

no, use the serial number listed on the page where you downloaded acrobat 7, not your acrobat serial number
