Error 1602 when updating Iphone 4 from 4.3 to 5.. Any help ?

Error 1602 when updating Iphone 4 from 4.3 to 5 and after that it goes into "recovery mode" but Its not recognized by Itunes, I can only exit it with Tinyumrella and nothing else.

It seems that the itunes program has some interfefence when contacting the apple server.
i had this problem gave me error message 3200, i turned off the anti virus after restarting the computer(windows vista) and restarting the phone.
Turned off the sidebar, and closed any programs in the notifications section such as nokia ovi etc which load up when the computer starts also skype.
ha presto it began the process of transfering the file to the iphone4 and has now fully updated
hope that helps

  • Error 1602 when updating to IOS4 and then not recognizing in Itunes

Started the update process this morning to update my Iphone 3G to IOS4, after about 2 hours it came up with the error "The Iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (1602)" after this the phone was stuck on the screen with connect to itunes therefore i was unable to use the phone. Tried connecting it to Itunes but it would not recognise the Iphone, tried everything from uninstalling Itunes and changing the drivers. Installed Itunes on a different PC and it recognised the IPHONE and updated it to IOS4. However by doing this on another PC it has now lost all my contacts, messages, apps, and music.grrrr...Only trouble is i still cannot connect it to the other PC. Both Pc's are running Windows 7 32bit. any help would be much appreciated.

Anybody out there that is pulling their hair out of the issue with Itunes not recognising the phone, go to Device Manager click on Portable Devices, Right Click on Apple Iphone, click on Update Driver, make sure you select Update Automatically, and then it will install the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver (Please Note this will be displayed in the Universal Serial Bus controllers section). Should then display in itunes, if not restart itunes. Where i was going wrong was i was telling the system to search in the apple drivers folder in C:\Program Files\Common Files, and these would not install due to a conflict with the Windows Picture Drivers. Hope this Helps

What do I do if I get the error code 1602 when I am trying to update to 1.1.3 in order to get January Downlaod?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.

  • Error 1602 when updating 1.1.3

I just finished following the instructions Apple has for error 1602, trashed itunes, applemobile sync and reinstalled itunes 7.6. Followed the instructions to the tee. Went to update the iphone to 1.1.3 and got the same error. Any ideas?

I tried updating to V1.1.3 tonight and got a 1602 error message on both of my iphones. I called tech support and waited about a half hour. I talked to Apple Tech rep and was up and running in about a half hour or less. Thank you Apple tech support... Both phones running great with new update installed.

  • Still getting ERROR 1602 when updating.. I've tried everything... HELP!

I have tried the following, and no luck.
    - Uninstalling iTunes and Apple Mobile Device, then reinstalling them after reboot.
    - Plugging into different USB ports, and blowing dust out of them.
    - Rebooting iPhone multiple times.
    - Clicking "Restore" instead of "Update". Still get error message.
    - Erasing the patch file and re-downloading it.
The only thing I haven't done is call customer support because I hate dealing with stuff like this over the phone. Are there any other options, or should I plan on making a trip to an Apple store?
Thanks for any help guys and sorry about another thread relating to this. I'm just extremely frustrated...

  • Error 1602 when updating to 1.1.3 - please help!

    Hey all,
i would really appreciate your help.
I am wanting to download the january update. So far i installed itunes 7.6 and downloaded the 1.1.3 update without any problems. I seem to be having difficulty installing the 1.1.3 update onto my ipod as it just says something along the lines of couldnt update ipod error 1602. Ive had a bit of a search on this discussion board and realise ppl have been posting a few strange ways to overcome this, with varyingly successful results. Primarily they involve removing all itunes programs and/or restoring ipod. Is this what i should do?? If i am to do this does this mean that i loose all of the content on my ipod?? will i loose all of my songs in itunes? or will everything be exactley the same??
    Thanks in advance

  • HT201210 Error when updating iPhone from 5.1.1 to iOS 6.0

When I tried to update my iPhone software from 5.1.1 to iOS6, it said there was an error.  Then it said I needed to restore my iPhone.  I pushed update and restore, and it keeps giving me an error.  My iPhone is essentially wiped out and not usable because it shows iTunes with the cord logo on my phone.  I've tried this several times to restore.  What do I do?

  • Error (2) when updating iPhone 4 to ios 7

    Hi all,
I am getting this error when i am trying to update my iPhone 4 to ios 7. Also tried DFU restore. Still no luck.
Any insights is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Error message reads "iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (2).

    Error 2
ASR does not exist on ramdisk or is corrupt/not signed.
you might be downloading the wrong version of iOS 7.0 or downloaded file might be corrupted , try to download again the correct and complete file and retry restoring manually ...
while in itunes press shift and restore button you will be asked to provide the iOS which you wan to update select and see if this works for you.

  • Unknown error 6 when updating to 1.1.2!! NEED HELP

I have rebooted itunes and the iphone.I tried to Restore. THe bar gets about 25% through the restore and i receive unknown error 6. I am sooo frustrated. The Apple geniuses dont have any openings for 2 days!!! I need this phone for business tomorrow ;( I feel like they are leaving me out to dry. Can anyone help????

    Post-rage report:
I tried about 15 times with different variations to fix the issue late last night. Reset the phone, different USB ports etc. Nothing worked. I even deleted my backup (from a week or so ago).
In the cold hard light of day the morning after, the only thing I could think of that could have caused it (besides Apple's faux pas) was that I installed 10.5, had a major issue with a auto-update patch and had to Archive and Reinstall since the last week. The patch completely crippled my 10.5 install so maybe that had something to do with it.
At any rate, I attached it to my Windows machine and synced up and it worked. At the end of the process it asked if i wanted to restore the backup and I declined. Instead I attached it back to my main sync machine and re-ran the sync process.
Horrible waste of time and incredibly frustrating but I'm glad I was able to resolve it without making a trip to the Apple store or a call to Applecare.
