Try this - download a program called rec boot. follow the instructions to kick it out of recovery mode. and does itunes recognise
or hold the power and home button together until you see a "connect to itunes" pic on the screen

Try going to recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

You can't update the original iPad beyond iOS 5.1.1 so if you were already running that version, there was no reason to wipe the iPad to try to update.
Won't work at all, doesn't tell me the whole story. Does it power up but not respond to anything? Does it not power up at all? Some detailed information in context would really be helpful.
IF the device will not start up, try a reset. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.

Do you have to restore your iPhone again? You could try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. You could also try checking out this link.

I'm trying to update to iOS 5, and every time it reaches as far as extracting the software and prepping the phone for the update. Then it stops and gives me an error 3200. Any fixes to this?

It worked for me after I disabled the Passcode, turned off WiFi and Cell networks, closed all apps (hit the home button twice and then hold on an app to bring up the close button). After all that power down and power up. Worked for me then.
However it is probably more related to as others have said the sheer volume of hits.

Based on what you stated, it seems that the restore is not going through because if a specific build you are trying to install. Check out the article below to walk you through resolveing the issue by checking the host file or jus ttring to restore your iPhone on a different computer all together.

After 1.12 Gb data was downloaded through Wi-Fi when tried to install it was not taking place & error meassage-network not available was coming. I tried to connect to my windows pc with windows 7 and first it recognised the i pad & through i tunes when tried to update the IOS after few hours of downloading the dat again ,now ipad is not visible & when connectedto any pc showing usb device not recognised. so i have tried every way (except a different computer because that option is not available right now). i wanted to reset (factory reset erase all content) my iphone 5 because it was being really wierd. id be using an app all the sudden it would just turn off, try to restart itself, never get past apple logo screen, crash, attempt restart again etc. only when i would hold home and power button it would start up the right way. anyway i went into my iphones settings> general> reset> erase all content and settings. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!! ever since then it just have been stuck in recovery mode. the first time i tried to restore it. i got error 3914 i think. doing a little research i found i needed to update itunes so i did (11.1.5.5). then it said i needed to download iOS 7 so i did. and when i try to restore it, i get error 9. itunes is up to date. my windows is up to date. ive tried everything i can think of and im gettin to the point where im gona throe it at the wall
