Error 1603 installing 2809243 (windowsfabricpatch.msp)
Installed the latest Lync 2013 updates on all servers in multiple domains.
Generally it went fine but a couple of mediation servers failed to install the last part - windowsfabricpatch.msp
It throws error 1603.
I tried downloading the msp standalone and it errors out as well. All servers are windows 2012.

Check for the following registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Reg_SZ: Logging
If it exists then delete Logging string value and then try to install the update again. If the process fails then follow the next step.
Try to install the msp file manaully using administrator priveleges.

Error 1603 Installing Creative Cloud from Network Path
I used the same method as I am going to describe below to install CS6 but I cannot do this with Creative Cloud.
After I built a install Package for Adobe Creative cloud I copied it up to a network share that I use for several other remote installations including Adobe CS6. I use Dell KACE to distribute my software and due to the large size of Creative Cloud and Creative Suite before it I do not want to copy the large install files directly to the appliance.
The problem I am having is when I try to install from this network location just as I have with CS6 I get the following error:
Installation operation failed
Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Adobe_CC_NoAcrobat. Product Version: 1.2.0000. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Adobe Systems Incorporated. Installation success or error status: 1603.
Adobe_CC_NoAcrobat is what I named the package.
My install commands look like this:
start /wait \\SERVER\AdobeCC\Adobe_CC_NoAcrobat\Exceptions\ExceptionDeployer.exe --workflow=install --mode=pre

I added the Logging after it kept failing to see what was going on and I can paste the entire log file if need be but if I copy the folder with the package contents locally and run the same commands from the same elevated command prompt it installs fine. Error 1603 usually points to some access rights issue but for the life of me I cannot determine what the issue is. I have given full control to "Everyone", "SYSTEM" and all users to the network share and it is only the MSI that fails it seems.I have just run into this problem. I have made two packages earlier in the year (one of Creative Cloud Design and Web and one with Creative Cloud Master Collection both being for x64) and they both worked flawlessly when deploying via Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT). However I just went to make a new package of Master Collection (only including the applications we actually use) and it is now completely broken (I deleted my Creative Cloud Design and Web package from MDT but still have my old Master Collection package and it still works).
My older packages were created on Windows Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise 32bit and I have tried creating new packages on Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 and Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard Edition 32bit and both give the same failure. I thought it might have been something about building on a x64 OS this time compared to last time but as I still get the same error when I tried to build from the Windows Server 2003 so that does not appear to be the case so I am guessing something has broken in the Creative Cloud Packager.
Has anyone tried going back to an older version of the Creative Cloud Packager? The current version is 1.6.0 Build 48 so if I can find a download link I will try and give version 1.5.0 a shot. Either way this needs to be fixed ASAP as it did work and I need a working deployment for the new Windows 8.1.1 Enterprise x64 image I am in the process of making. -
Error 1603 installing SCCM client
When I try to install the SCCM client on some machines I get an installation error 1603. Setup starts ok, but after a while ends in a 1603 error.

I'm having trouble locating a windows installer log. The %temp% folder would be in docs&settings\userid\local settings\temp, I would assume and I've looked through the folders for the acct that is doing the client install as well as all the other acct folders and can't seem to locate any logs with a current date/time stamp. Any idea where I would look?
Also, BTW, I reinstalled MSI 4.5 before I did this last client installation, but I did it remotely/silently, so no prompts or data returned... I just found the errors below in the \windows\KB942288-v3.log file... might be related?

Error 1603 Installing Lync 2013 client
Hello,
I am working in an Enterprise company.
All computers are Windows 7 + Office 2007 SP3.
I need to prepare a Silent installation of Lync 2013.
I created a basic config.xml file and configured a new msp file with all setting needed.
This is the command i used:
Setup.exe /adminfile lync.msp /config config.xml
Nearly at the end of the installation, it fails.
These are the critical information from the Log file:
Error: Failed to install product: C:\MSOCache\All Users\{90150000-012C-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C\LyncWW.msi ErrorCode: 1603(0x643).
Error attaching to OSE, error 0x00000000
What does is means?

AmirError 1603 occurs during MSI or a software installation.
Please check you can install
LyncWW.msi manually.
Make sure the install package is not interrupted.

I have not been able to reinstall Acrobat Pro on my laptop. I have Suite 6 Design & Web Premium on my HP laptop. I have Windows 7 operating system. All of a sudden Acrobat Pro will not open so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall the program.
The error messages I get are:

Error 1603 when trying to install Acrobat XI Pro from Creative Cloud

I'm hoping someone can help me. One of my user is getting below error message when trying to install Adobe Acrobat XI Pro from Creative Cloud. She's been able to install other apps such as Illustrator and InDesign without any issues.

Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.7 update will not install - error 1603
This is on Windows7 64-bit PCs running Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.0, 11.0.3, 11.0.4, or 11.0.6, we have 7 machines in this state. Have uninstalled, have used Acrobat uninstall tool in safe moved to remove old app. 11.0.0 will reinstall but 11.0.7 update will not. Gets well into the patching section, then stops and rolls back, error 1603.

Hello,
i get an error when i try to update Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.06 to 11.0.07/11.0.08 or 11.0.09 with the msp files from the adobe download page.
In the end of the installation procedure the installer is doing a roll-back and the installation returns an error code 1603
- uninstall Adobe Acrobat and Reader , install Acrobat 11.0.0.0 and Update to 11.0.09 --> 1603
- uninstall Adobe Acrobat and Reader , execute the adobe cleaner tool and then install Acrobat 11.0.0.0 and Update to 11.0.09 --> 1603
- uninstall Reader und update Arobat --> 1603

It's really kind of hit or miss, because it appears to affect those with previous versions of Acrobat or Reader installed, but that isn't always the case.
Had this happen to systems that haven't had any sort of Adobe product installed prior.
It's always the same thing too. Error 1603 is spit out after it can't remove select files in C:\Windows\Installer
After digging through the system, the files that it's looking to delete aren't even there to begin with. -

You should have gotten this information with the error: "Shut down Microsoft Office and all web browsers. Then, in Acrobat or Reader, choose Help > Check for Updates. See also Error 1603 | Install | CS3, CS4 products." Also, be sure you log in as the administrator and disable anti-virus.
