Error 1611 ipod touch 2g

When i try to restore the ipod touch, it fails to restore and gives me an error 1611. It shows the apple logo and nothing happens. After about 1 minute, i see the connect to itunes. I tried different pc and macs and nothing. I keep getting error 1611.
i was given the ipod touch 2gen that was bought on the apple store. I checked the serial number for the ipod and it still has warranty. Would i need a receipt to get it repaired? Any help would be appreciated.

I just updated ITunes. When I plugged in my Touch, ITunes informed me I had to update its software. That failed. I now have a dead Touch. Everything I plug it in to Itunes, I get the device needs to complete a restore. I click restore, and I get a non-progressing progress bar and eventually unknown error 1611. I have tried everything I can find on the Apple Support site and everything else. Nothing. Please help.

Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

SOLUTION... Error updating iPod Touch with 64-bit Vista

For the last two years... I have had a horrible time updating my iPod, beginning around iTunes 7. I am running 64-bit Windows Vista and I have had trouble with the 1st Gen, 3rd Gen and 4th Gen Touches. Everytime I would attempt to upgrade it would set my iPod Touch to recovery mode and iTunes would give me a 1602 error. After this it would never recognize it again. I scoured the internet for hours upon hours to no avail. I contacted Apple support a couple of times and the best response I got was, it's probably a Vista issue.
My solution for this issue was rename my iTunes folder, uninstall iTunes completely, install an older 32-bit version of iTunes, restore my iPod (only the firmware), update iTunes, re-rename my iTunes folder, and then restore from the last back-up. For my 32GB Touch, the process took 5-6 hours. So, I basically quit updating. Finally, I was determined to find a real solution.
After unsucessfully trying several different methods, I set iTunes to run as Administrator and that solved it. I have successfully updated mine and my daughters iPod without a hitch. It doesn't make any sense to me considering that my Windows login is the Administrator... but I'm happy to have found it.
So, if anyone out there has suffered this issue... the solution that worked for me was to right click the iTunes shortcut and go to Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and Check "Run this program as an Administrator". Click Apply and exit. Now try it and hopefully you will have the same results as me.

Error after Ipod Touch 4th Generation iOS6 Update

I went to update my Ipod Touch 4th Generation to the new software, and when it finished, it was put in Recovery Mode.
I plugged it into itunes like it says.
Then I tried restoring it like it suggests, but as it was restoring, there was an unknown error message (3194).
My ipod is only a couple months old. I do not know how to fix this. The update ruined my ipod touch!

"no default mail client" error when iPod touch is plugged in

I use my iPod with a Mac at home and a WinXP box at work. I have a new 2G iPod touch. Whenever I plug it in at work and start iTunes, I start getting this error. The error window will pop up once or twice and then go away, at least for a while.
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
Yeah, right, like I'm going to do that. This seems to be coming from the program OutlookSyncClient.exe -- I don't have my iPod set to sync Calendars. So why is this happening and how can it be made to stop? Is iTunes trying to email someone? And why is Apple trying to get me to use a Microsoft email program? Insanity.

I just started getting that same popup error constantly, since upgrading to the latest iTunes version last night. I think in my case it's happening when the auto-sync to MobileMe is triggered. I don't have M$ Outhouse as my default mail client and don't want to make M$ Outhouse my default client, but I have been syncing calendars and contacts through it to MobileMe because it doesn't support syncing directly to the things I really use. Previously it worked OK without requiring me to make it my default client... what changed?

Film download error on ipod touch

I have tried to download a film to my son's ipod touch, but it won't download. It says "download error. tap to retry" - when I tap it does the same.
How can I get it to download? Or obtain refund from itunes?

USB Power Error with iPod Touch and 2012 MBA

I am getting a USB power error when I connect my current generation 32 GB iPod touch to my 2012 MBA.
Since both iPod and MacAir are running current software. I am also starting to get errors from iTunes telling me that my iPod can not be accessed. Any ideas? Mac or iPod problem, or BOTH? Closest Apple store is 250 miles away, but MBA is still under original 1 year original warranty. Might be time for a visit.

Error, New Ipod Touch + Itunes

I got a new Ipod Touch. And I still havent been able to get it working. It is still on the screen with the USB cable arrow Itunes.
I run Windows 7.
I have installed Itunes and Quicktime.
My computer recognized the Ipod, and it is now listed in Devices -> Mobile Devices -> Apple Ipod.
Here is the problem...
When i open Itunes, I get the error message "this ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. run the itunes installer to remove itunes then install itunes again".
I have the latest version of Itunes. I have tried to uninstall many times. I am a comp sci major in college, and consider myslef a tech savy person. But i need some help with this one. Thanks Adam

When you run the installer (when you remove iTunes) did you have an option to repair iTunes as well as remove iTunes? If so, use repair. It may be that each new installation is installing a corrupt or damaged file, but the repair option should find that file and instal just that one.

Help, Recovery/Restore error For ipod touch 2g

Hi, im hoping someone can help my because I really dread sending it away.
I've had my ipod for a total of seventeen days +(touch 2g 8gig),+ and yesterday when I plugged it into sync to the computer it was showing no music on it and about 4 gig of "other". After this, I disconnected it and checked on my ipod and I had seen that all my music was erased, and I couldnt find the 4 gig of other?
Anywho, I decided to restore it to its original settings.
Shortly into the restore I get an error message(14), and after I get this it booted into recovery mode and says I must restore before I can use it, but the problem is everytime I try to restore I get the same error message.
I have tried all the steps on the support page for error codes and still nothing.
I'd really like to resolve this and not have to send it away.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated

FINALLY someone with the same problem as me. Exact same, and still unsolved...
I got the iPod Touch 2g 8GB on the 27th of December and on the 25th of January, I plug it in to Sync more music, and it says I have approx. 4gb of 'other', then my music was all gone...
I have tried update and restore ATLEAST 50 times by now and Soon, I'll give up hope and send it away. I even try the Shift+Restore method (I use XP) and get either error unknown (1) or error unknown (5) when i try it in DFU mode.
I hope someone helps solve our, as I love the iPod Touch.
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S, I have NOT tried to jailbreak it.

IOS 5 Error (-43) iPod Touch 4G

Whenever I try to update my 4G iPod Touch to iOS 5, I get error (-43). It sayd that by continuing I will lose all data on my iPod! What do I do? I have very important data stored on my apps!

Look at the previous posts on yur error number. One the right had side of this page there are two such posts with a green checkmark. That means the problem was solved. They are under the heading: More Like This.

1619 Error ITunes / Ipod Touch

I have purchased an iPod Touch 8gb which itunes will not recognize.
The error I get in iTunes is "An ipod is recognized but could not be identified properly (1619)
I am quite computer literate and have read hours and hours worth of forum posts trying to get this sorted. I have tried the 5 r's, many re-installs, various registey fixes etc.
I am at my wits end hence the post. I even tried apple support over the phone and they said they have never heard of the error code!

Error syncing iPod Touch to iTunes

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere in the forum previously:
For some reason when I click under "Device" on my iTunes, to pull up the information for my iPod, it will not give me any product information (such as space available, the tab for applications, etc...)
I am trying to add apps I downloaded to the iPod, but I don't know how else to go about doing it, or how to get my device screen to come back up. I tried just dragging/dropping apps, but it will not allow me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
