  • Help getting iphone 4s out of recovery mode as i keep getting error 1611 or error 21.

can anyone help (with ways to fix this issue other than the 1's ive already tred) I was charging my phone and when i went to get off off charge it was dead and only displayed the itunes connect image. I have tried to restore it and when i connect it to itunes it displays this message 'itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. you must restore ths iphone before it can be used with itunes' so i tried to restore it may times now but get so far and then have an error message. Ive had error 1611, error 21 error 1611 again and error 21 a further 4 times. I have also been to the apple store and made an appointment with the so called geniuis people however after 4 and a half hours waiting to be seen did they take my phone out the back then over 15 mins later the chap dealing with me came back saying ' WHEN DID YOU HAVE A NEW SCREEN FITTED' I replied 2/3 months ago as i dropped it on my table and the screen cracked so i took it to a phone repair shop and paid £105 to have it replaced and my phone was working fine after I wasnt aware that the warranty covered you for a cracked screen that you was caused because you dropped it accedentaly etc.... well any way tghe chap then said ' I can t help you any further as you need to go back to the shop who changed the screen and get them to resolve this isssue. I asked how on earth can a new sceen fitted cause my phone to go in to recovry mode (2/3 months after the screen was replaced mind) the reply i got was ' Its not my issue its out of my hands........' I was more than tamping, raging fuming leaving there as no advice was given to rectifiy the issue i have with my phone. The following morning i went straight to the shop that replaired/replaced my cracked screen and told them what apple had said to me and that i was to come back to yourselves as you need to rectify the issue? to say the repair guy was baffled is an understatement but in fairness at least he tried to help me and attempted to restore it on itunes 6 times in total and changed the battery to a brnd new 1 plus checked the charging port to make sure this was not faulty. after all his help he was still baffled as to why apple felt its his fault after replacing a cracked screen as the error codes being displayed clearly were a software issue not an issue caused by replacing the crakced sceen'
I was more than happy to pay apple and charges to fix my phone based on the fact my warranty was now null and void (which is pathetic as the replacement screen was an apple origianl replacement screen it was just fitted by someone else whom is qualifed to do so) but wasnt even given the option to pay for any repairs etc.....they simply blamed someone else and offer me no further help.
so a week later after this first hapen to my phone whilst on charge and i still in the same boat and have run out of things to try (which was all found by using google as apple support secton is a load of fresh air and doenst actually give you the info and help your need.
Im grateful of any help that can be offered.

Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

  • Apple iPhone 4 stuck in Recovery Mode (Error 1611). Any Suggestions

My iPhone 4 (16 GB) is in recovery mode (or DFU mode), but it seems to be stuck in it. For the last two days it has been telling me to connect to iTunes and when I do it tells me, "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone it can be used with iTunes". So I press restore and it asks me if I wish to Restore and Update; I agreed. I attempted the restore, but something went wrong. It goes through the "extracting software" stage fine, but when it says "Preparing iPhone for restore", the screen flashes white for a half a second or so and then it tries to start over. iTunes then leaves me with this message, "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1611)."
I have tried to get it out of Recovery Mode several times through YouTube tutorials and other websites, but when I attempt to do this, it will just go back to the "Connect to iTunes" screen. It will not respond to anything unless it is plugged into my laptop (I'm almost certain of this, I cannot be completley sure because the screen is just black if not connected). I have tried several different USB cords, re-installed iTunes and Apple programs on my computer and even made a new user account on my laptop. (I'm using Windows 7). This phone has never been Jailbroken and nothing wrong with it as far as I'm concerned, except the occasional time the home button would not respond.
Before this happened, everything was working fine. Earlier in the week I got the Zagg InvisibleShield applied to my iPhone and everything was working great. On the night before this happened, my battery was extremely low and I used the Apple wall charger to charge it for the night (the USB cord was torn though).
    Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated!

    Here are Apple steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error1611
Make sure you have a perfect USB cable. Maybe try to charge the battery before proceeding again.
If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage, take iPhone to Apple for resolution.
Error 1611 has been associated with the iPhones inability to hold the Restore Mode (mode where iTunes writes to iPhone) this can be due to anything. Restore Mode does need a good functioning battery to proceed. You describe some vague battery issues.
If you do not take the iPhone to Apple for help, the next step would be battery replacement.

  • Liquid Contact Indicator? iPhone 4 not restoring (error 1611)

My iPhone won't restore even though it is recognised by iTunes. After an initial 'restore attempt' process, I get the following error code (Error 1611).
I have taken the iPhone to a technical repair store and after a quick examination, I was told that the iPhone had suffered water exposure and was out of warranty. I explained that this could not be possible as the phone had not been in water, was well looked after and was in immaculate condition. He proceeded to explain that the Litmus Paper indicator at the base of the device had turned colour. I again explained that I had not exposed the iPhone to water and queried how the iPhone could be perfectly functional during the evening, not be exposed to water during the night, but was dead the next morning due to apparent damage from water?
After again explaining that the iPhone had not been exposed to water, I asked whether or not humidity could be a cause of water damage. He said yes, this was possible.
Has anyone else experienced this type of issue? What can be done about a 1611 error?

Try getting your phone in DFU mode. If this doesn't work, you most likely do have a hardware failure:
    1. Close iTunes.
    2. Connect your iPhone to your computer and then launch iTunes.
    3. Turn your iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone).
    4. Then, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for EXACTLY 10 SECONDS, then release the sleep/wake button.
    5. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected. When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black. Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode.
    6. Hit the OK message that should popup to restore your phone.

  • IPhone Error 1611

I was having trouble getting my iPhone to sync with my mac the last few days so today I tried to fix it. It wasn't showing up on the left in itunes but would startup iphoto and give me the option to import photos. I was attempting a restore on it when the phone froze and locked up. Now the phone won't even work. I also tried putting the phone in DFU mode and still had the same error 1611 upon trying to complete the restore. I have read that this error is possibly a hardware issue related to the the dock on the phone and tried making sure it was clean and it appears to be under light. please advise on how to proceed!
