Error 1611 support please!

First off, this is a brand new ipod without anything on it, whilst it was syncing the first time my computer crashed and i removed the usb without clicking disconnect.
After it booted up, i tried connecting my ipod and it gave me a message telling me i needed to restore it to factory settings, then i was transfering data from a usb to the computer (Unrelated but important is to why) pulled it out to try the other one without looking to see if the restore was complete or doing thing i pulled the cable out disconnecting the ipod.
Now whenever i try restore it won't get past preparing ipod for restore, it got to verifying ipod restoration once but it was hanging on it for about 20 mins then gave me 1611.
Please help, its a brand new ipod without anything at all on it...

I just had this error (1611) after iTunes tried to install the latest iOS update on my iPod Touch (4th gen). Basically, I had two errors one after another. First being the iOS update and when that didn't work, it gave me another error of "cannot restore". I am running under Windows 7 64-bit (don't forget that there is an iTunes ver. solely for 64-Bit Windows OS besides the main page where you usually download iTunes) and my iTunes is updated. Hopefully, this would also work on Vista OS.
I turned to Google for solutions, even pointed me at a few Youtube videos that didn't really make sense. So I improvised:
1) Uninstall iTunes. (you don't need to disable (run: services.msc) active running Apple services in the background) If it asks you that "in order to complete the uninstallation process, you have to restart, pick: NO. You can restart your system manually cause' you still have a few more things to do.
2) If you have an optimization program (I use Auslogics Boostspeed and CCleaner for instance), run it. Be sure to sweep the registries iTunes may leave behind.
3) Now, restart.
4) Reinstall iTunes. If you're running a 64-bit, make sure you download the 64-bit, not the 32-bit.
5) Once done re-installing, run iTunes.
6) Plug-in your iOS device. It's going to ask you that you need to restore it first before you can update to the latest iOS version.
These steps worked for me. I can only hope that it would also work on other people's dilemma.
note: This WASN'T the first time this happened to me. During my first (this would be my second) iOS update, I got an error concerning with iTunes having trouble installing it. I forgot which error code# it was. I resorted to googling different webpages that relates to the problem I had at the time.
I'm not going to whine but I think Apple customers deserve better satisfaction after spending $$$ on their products whenever FREQUENT troubleshooting that comes from a myriad of users are reported everyday.
Now I'm AFRAID that when my iPod prompts me for a new update, I'm hesitant to do so because I'm afraid of having to run into this problem again.

    Hey i HAVE/HAD the same problem but right in THIS moment i solved it! And i'm gonna tell you how:
    1) You have to uninstall ALL the programs that are from Apple.
    2) Go into control panel if you are on a windows and delete everything that says Author (Apple inc.)
    3) Here is a list of every thing you have to Uninstall:
    Apple application support
    Apple mobile device support
    Apple software update
    Bonjour
    iTunes
    Quicktime player
    Safari
    4) After that just go to Apple.com and download the lastest version of iTunes!
    5) Install it and sync your iPhone/iPod Touch out of Recovery mode.

  • Ipod Touch error 1611 during restoring. PLEASE HELP!!

    I've bought my new ipod touch then I Updated to the new version. After that, there was an error showing on iTunes that my ipod touch had to be restored. Then in the middle of the reparing, it apears a message saing it couldnt restore due to error 1611. Please help me! I Have no idea what to do. I have allready reinstaled itunes and all apple aplicantions and it still happens this.
    When I connect Itouch to itunes, it says that its on restore mode and happens this error. And all the discriptions of the itouch on iTunes says "N/A".

    Wow, and to think I was alone in this! I think this must be a glitch in the Itouch or something, because NO ONE seems to have an answer. I am having the exact same problem as all of you. SOMEONE - PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!

    Hello, i am having trouble with my ipod touch 2nd gen. I got it all working and fine when i first got it. But one day, when i tried to charge it with my computer, it wouldnt recognize in my itunes. Then, i tried to do the 5 R's, then i finally restored my ipod, with the restore function on my ipod, and completely restored my itunes. But now, i must restore and update to use my ipod on my computer. When i try to do that, i get this unknown error (1611). Please help!

    You do not need the Setup Assistant; in fact, you do not need any software on an external hard drive. I have two LaCie's; I erased the drive as soon as I plugged it in. You will need to format it anyway because most hard drives come Windows formatted. So, if you only want to use it with the Mac, highlight it in Disk Utility and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format and the GUID Partition scheme under Options. While doing that, it will erase the drive (and get rid of the LaCie software) - once finished, your drive is ready to use for Time Machine or any other backup plans you have for it.

    Hello Mubashir surf google and try pressing power and home button at the same time untill apple sign shows up and then leave it .
    Otherwise surf google you mite have to edit you host file in windows , system32

  • More "error 1611" problems trying to update to v4.2

    Apple may have nailed the user experience on their devices, but when it comes to problems, I'd say they have a long way to go. I've got 4 iPods Touch devices in my family. I am updating 1 of them to v4.2. I've completed a sync to the device (under v4.1) without any problems, as I always can. I download 4.2 for install later. I update to 4.2 and the device backs up. Sometime during the update process the thing throws me an error that says it is an "unknown error" and a code of 1611. I do a restore as directed. THAT errors out as a code 1611. I look up 1611 and it appears to be a code for a variety of USB errors. Apple then immediately begins saying that my computer is the issue. Well, I tell you what - I've got 3 GPS devices that I connect on a quarterly basis for 1.5 GB+ map updates. I've got 1 GPS that I connect daily for TomTom updates. I've got 2 Android phones and 1 Windows mobile phone that I connect frequently via USB. They all work. So I'm to believe that there is something magically wrong with my computer that only manifests itself with an Apple iPod? Please. I can put up with the closed ecosystem of Apple but the stuff better work in return. Now I get to try to restore on another machine, then go back and reinstall all the content. Thanks for making this an easy process Apple.

    I am also getting error 1611 when trying to restore iphone 3gs. I tried contacting the iPhone Support in India and they told me that it indicates an Hardware issue. They also offered me a replacement for the same.
    I tried this restore process anyways on 3 different laptops and on two of them it gave the error 1611 and one of them it gave error 28. Seems like, it is a hardware issue as the error codes are categorized in one category by an article released by Apple.
    I dont quite know why apple does not come up with the solution to these error codes.

    Hello, today I wanted to sync my iPod Touch 4G into iTunes wich is running iOS 6.0 and not yet updated to 6.1.1 not jailbroken and when I plugged it in I saw "Can't connect this iPod to iTunes."     I just updated ITunes. When I plugged in my Touch, ITunes informed me I had to update its software. That failed. I now have a dead Touch. Everything I plug it in to Itunes, I get the device needs to complete a restore. I click restore, and I get a non-progressing progress bar and eventually unknown error 1611. I have tried everything I can find on the Apple Support site and everything else. Nothing. Please help.

    Configure your security software
    Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
    Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
