  • I Pod Touch - 1st generation - Error 1611 - What is my last recourse ?

    Hello everybody,
Before starting, I would like to say that I did everything that was written to rectify the 'Error 1611' on my iPod touch / 1st generation.  I did all the step-by-step, mentioned by the 'Apple community' and there was a lot of advice and I can assure you that I attempted everything to resolve the problem.  Not only today, but last week and even over the last few months.  But nothing has changed - it is still the same....... My iPod touch isn't recognized by iTunes and I still have the same error over and over again.  I am aware that it is linked to a peripherial problem but since I followed every steps to resolve this problem - nothing has changed.  All advice given by the community was done over and over again and try different things and still I have an iPod touch that won't work.  Can't even charged my iPod !
So my question is quite simple,  since I have tried everything that had to be done to resolve this problem, what is my last recourse to fix thjs problem once and for all.  I don't want you to tell me to redownload iTunes, or to update  my peripherial devices or my Window 7; everything has been done and it doesn't work. I even tried the process with all my computers, thinking that it would work if I used another computer.  I have three of them and still have the same message (ERROR 1611).
So i think that the problenm is not my computers but my iPad Touch ! So, what is my last recourse -- I really mean 'my last recourse' to resolve the problem.  And if someone can tell me how much it would cost me - I would appreciate the info.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Tazmanio

    Hi Illaass,
I totally agree with you. I really think that it is an hardware issue with the iPod Touch.  So what can I do from here ?

  • TS3694 Just took my 1st gen iPod out of it's original box, never used before.  Plugged it into my new Mac book Pro and it recognizes that the iPod is in recovery mode but when I click to restore, error 1611 comes up - but that error code doesn't say what

I had an 8GB 1st gen iPod in it's original box in storage and just took it out to hook it up.  Charged it overnight, plugged it into new Mac Book Pro and it was recognized as being an iPod in recovery but other identifying information was all indicated as "n/a" (so, unknown OS, etc).  Error code 1604 came up so I downloaded iTunes on the Mac Book and it is currently showing version 10.  But now when I try to restore the iPod, error code 1611 comes up and the troubleshooting doesn't tell me what else to try.  The USB connector that came with the iPod was also never used before - brand new also from the box so that should be fine.  I also tried a different USB port on the Mac Book.  Any ideas?

  • What does error 1611 mean?

I looked it up but I dont understand what it means. I know it says that I have to disable my security system but I dont have one. Right now my iPhone is on the "Connect to iTunes" logo. When I do it says that this iPhone is in recovery mode. It says I have to restore it to get it to work again. So I go to restore it but it says that error 1611 had occured.
I asked my parents if we have a security system but we dont and I dont know what else to check. I just got this today and my parents are pretty mad at me.
If you know how to fix this please let me know as soon as possible!
    Thanks in Advance!
PS I was doing this because iTunes would reconginze my iPhone so I followed what Apple has said on here but it brought me here.
I cant do anything with my phone (i.e. go to contacts, text, get to the password) It is just stuck on the connect to charger symbol.

  • Help getting iphone 4s out of recovery mode as i keep getting error 1611 or error 21.

can anyone help (with ways to fix this issue other than the 1's ive already tred) I was charging my phone and when i went to get off off charge it was dead and only displayed the itunes connect image. I have tried to restore it and when i connect it to itunes it displays this message 'itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. you must restore ths iphone before it can be used with itunes' so i tried to restore it may times now but get so far and then have an error message. Ive had error 1611, error 21 error 1611 again and error 21 a further 4 times. I have also been to the apple store and made an appointment with the so called geniuis people however after 4 and a half hours waiting to be seen did they take my phone out the back then over 15 mins later the chap dealing with me came back saying ' WHEN DID YOU HAVE A NEW SCREEN FITTED' I replied 2/3 months ago as i dropped it on my table and the screen cracked so i took it to a phone repair shop and paid £105 to have it replaced and my phone was working fine after I wasnt aware that the warranty covered you for a cracked screen that you was caused because you dropped it accedentaly etc.... well any way tghe chap then said ' I can t help you any further as you need to go back to the shop who changed the screen and get them to resolve this isssue. I asked how on earth can a new sceen fitted cause my phone to go in to recovry mode (2/3 months after the screen was replaced mind) the reply i got was ' Its not my issue its out of my hands........' I was more than tamping, raging fuming leaving there as no advice was given to rectifiy the issue i have with my phone. The following morning i went straight to the shop that replaired/replaced my cracked screen and told them what apple had said to me and that i was to come back to yourselves as you need to rectify the issue? to say the repair guy was baffled is an understatement but in fairness at least he tried to help me and attempted to restore it on itunes 6 times in total and changed the battery to a brnd new 1 plus checked the charging port to make sure this was not faulty. after all his help he was still baffled as to why apple felt its his fault after replacing a cracked screen as the error codes being displayed clearly were a software issue not an issue caused by replacing the crakced sceen'
I was more than happy to pay apple and charges to fix my phone based on the fact my warranty was now null and void (which is pathetic as the replacement screen was an apple origianl replacement screen it was just fitted by someone else whom is qualifed to do so) but wasnt even given the option to pay for any repairs etc.....they simply blamed someone else and offer me no further help.
so a week later after this first hapen to my phone whilst on charge and i still in the same boat and have run out of things to try (which was all found by using google as apple support secton is a load of fresh air and doenst actually give you the info and help your need.
Im grateful of any help that can be offered.

  • How can I get iTunes to recognize my iTouch? And I can't force restore, error 1611. Help?

My iTunes does not recognize my iTouch and I want to restore it to factory settings. I am not able to restore due to an error 1611. What does this mean and how can I get my iTouch to work again, currently it won't even start to charge.

Error 1611: This error may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. • Liquid Contact Indicator? iPhone 4 not restoring (error 1611)

My iPhone won't restore even though it is recognised by iTunes. After an initial 'restore attempt' process, I get the following error code (Error 1611).
I have taken the iPhone to a technical repair store and after a quick examination, I was told that the iPhone had suffered water exposure and was out of warranty. I explained that this could not be possible as the phone had not been in water, was well looked after and was in immaculate condition. He proceeded to explain that the Litmus Paper indicator at the base of the device had turned colour. I again explained that I had not exposed the iPhone to water and queried how the iPhone could be perfectly functional during the evening, not be exposed to water during the night, but was dead the next morning due to apparent damage from water?
After again explaining that the iPhone had not been exposed to water, I asked whether or not humidity could be a cause of water damage. He said yes, this was possible.
Has anyone else experienced this type of issue? What can be done about a 1611 error?

Try getting your phone in DFU mode. If this doesn't work, you most likely do have a hardware failure:
    1. Close iTunes.
    2. Connect your iPhone to your computer and then launch iTunes.
    3. Turn your iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone).
    4. Then, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for EXACTLY 10 SECONDS, then release the sleep/wake button.
    5. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected. When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black. Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode.
    6. Hit the OK message that should popup to restore your phone.

  • More "error 1611" problems trying to update to v4.2

Apple may have nailed the user experience on their devices, but when it comes to problems, I'd say they have a long way to go. I've got 4 iPods Touch devices in my family. I am updating 1 of them to v4.2. I've completed a sync to the device (under v4.1) without any problems, as I always can. I download 4.2 for install later. I update to 4.2 and the device backs up. Sometime during the update process the thing throws me an error that says it is an "unknown error" and a code of 1611. I do a restore as directed. THAT errors out as a code 1611. I look up 1611 and it appears to be a code for a variety of USB errors. Apple then immediately begins saying that my computer is the issue. Well, I tell you what - I've got 3 GPS devices that I connect on a quarterly basis for 1.5 GB+ map updates. I've got 1 GPS that I connect daily for TomTom updates. I've got 2 Android phones and 1 Windows mobile phone that I connect frequently via USB. They all work. So I'm to believe that there is something magically wrong with my computer that only manifests itself with an Apple iPod? Please. I can put up with the closed ecosystem of Apple but the stuff better work in return. Now I get to try to restore on another machine, then go back and reinstall all the content. Thanks for making this an easy process Apple.

I am also getting error 1611 when trying to restore iphone 3gs. I tried contacting the iPhone Support in India and they told me that it indicates an Hardware issue. They also offered me a replacement for the same.
I tried this restore process anyways on 3 different laptops and on two of them it gave the error 1611 and one of them it gave error 28. Seems like, it is a hardware issue as the error codes are categorized in one category by an article released by Apple.
I dont quite know why apple does not come up with the solution to these error codes.

I bought an iphone 5, about three month ago. I have not done anything to hurt it and it looks like the new one. But, last week, it had turned off suddenly, and so far it has not turned on again. Then I tried to restore by Itunes.  It does the whole attempt to restore and then restarts the iphone, apple logo appears and then the loading circle appears and freezes. about 2 minutes later its back to the itunes logo with usb cable and got error 1611, multiple times on 2 different computers and multiple usb ports. I did the same thing with the phone in DFU mode and everything identical happens except its error 21 instead. what should I do?
