Error 1611 when trying to update software

When I update my iPhone on my pc I am given the error 1611. I can update the phone on another computer but when I try to update on the same computer again it is impossible.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I have seen this problem before. Select only "Mac OS X 10.7.5" to install. I can see that OS X wants to install a 10.7.4 and a 10.7.5 update at the same time, so they can be in conflict and the installation may fail. After installing OS X 10.7.5, the 10.7.4 one shouldn't appear, so install the other updates

  • Error message when trying to update software?!

Just got my Mac Book Pro and am trying to run software updates for:
    iTunes (11.0.1),
MacBook Pro (mid 2012) Software Update (10.7.4),
    Remote desktop client update (3.6.2)
    and Mac OS X 10.7.5
The software downloads and comuter does the restart and loads the staus bar right up then just says: "An unexpected error occured, none of the updates have been installed."
WHAT DO I DO? have tried 4 times with the same result.

  • My iphone 4s got the error 11 when trying to update software while in itunes help!!

Help!!!!!    While trying to update my iphone 4 in itunes, it crashed and i got the error message 11!!! Nothing is happening, it won't restart, I can't turn it off.  Nothing will recognize it!!!

It is an entry in the Hosts file. It is not a file.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • Why is my MacBook Pro coming up with an error message when trying to update Software?

I brought my MacBook Pro today and I have been trying to carry out the software updates, there are 9 in total. It takes about half an hour to download them all, then it tells me to restart. Once I have restarted, it then says it is installing the updates. After a minute it comes up with an error message. It then tells me that one or more of the files downloaded are corrupt!! Why is this happening as I have not done anything else with the laptop since I brought it??

Just re-download the updates via Software Update or you can download standalone updaters from support.apple.com/downloads/.
If you are on a slow connection it's probable that caused the corrupt files problem.

I have updated my laptop and itunes. I have had an issue with my phone connecting to any new wifi as well. I have also reset my phone.

so the error looks like it happens when you try to back up your phone.

This indicates a mucked up installation, since the SU can't find the PackageKit file. Reinstall Snow Leopard from your install disc.

If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

  • More "error 1611" problems trying to update to v4.2

Apple may have nailed the user experience on their devices, but when it comes to problems, I'd say they have a long way to go. I've got 4 iPods Touch devices in my family. I am updating 1 of them to v4.2. I've completed a sync to the device (under v4.1) without any problems, as I always can. I download 4.2 for install later. I update to 4.2 and the device backs up. Sometime during the update process the thing throws me an error that says it is an "unknown error" and a code of 1611. I do a restore as directed. THAT errors out as a code 1611. I look up 1611 and it appears to be a code for a variety of USB errors. Apple then immediately begins saying that my computer is the issue. Well, I tell you what - I've got 3 GPS devices that I connect on a quarterly basis for 1.5 GB+ map updates. I've got 1 GPS that I connect daily for TomTom updates. I've got 2 Android phones and 1 Windows mobile phone that I connect frequently via USB. They all work. So I'm to believe that there is something magically wrong with my computer that only manifests itself with an Apple iPod? Please. I can put up with the closed ecosystem of Apple but the stuff better work in return. Now I get to try to restore on another machine, then go back and reinstall all the content. Thanks for making this an easy process Apple.

I am also getting error 1611 when trying to restore iphone 3gs. I tried contacting the iPhone Support in India and they told me that it indicates an Hardware issue. They also offered me a replacement for the same.
I tried this restore process anyways on 3 different laptops and on two of them it gave the error 1611 and one of them it gave error 28. Seems like, it is a hardware issue as the error codes are categorized in one category by an article released by Apple.
I dont quite know why apple does not come up with the solution to these error codes.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
While normally it is much more accurate to search with the accurate and complete error message, including all punctuation and error codes, in your case here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB28188"BlackBerry App World is having trouble connecting to the BlackBerry App World server. Verify your network connections and try again. (Error id: 40820) " error is displayed when opening App World on the BlackBerry smartphone
Hopefully it contains something useful! • Macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was cancelled

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
