Error 1612 when installing Acrobat 9 update

I am running Acrobat 9.0 Pro on a Windows XP SP3 system. According to my control panel, the most recent update that has been installed is 9.3.2.
Every time I boot the system, I get a message saying that an Acrobat update is ready to be installed. When I attempt to install it, I receive an Error 1612 which says that the installation file is not present or not accessible.
I have attempted updating with the original installation disk in the DVD drive. Same result.
I have attempted uninstalling the 9.3.2 update or the basic program from the control panel. Same result. (In other words, I can't uninstall either of them, but get Error 1612 instead.)
I have attempted copying the .MSI file from the insallation disk to my hard drive (both the C:\ root directory and the Acrobat directory in C:\Program. Same result.
Has anyone else found a solution for this problem?

Don't you get a little dialog when update is being installed, where you can point to the original installation package?
If not, use original CD from which you installed your application and run installer - do not try to repair or uninstall using ARP or Help\Repair menu.
It seems like Windows Installer Service lost track of where the original installer file got cached on the system.
One copy is saved (renamed) under Windows\Installer folder.
Another copy is under application installation folder.
They both registered by Windows during initial installation, but occasionaly get corrupted.
Good luck

  • Error 1401 when installing Acrobat 9 Std on Windows 8.1 on MacMini running Parallels

I am running Windows 8.1 using Parallels version 10.1.3 on a MacMini running OS X 10.10.1. Partway through the install when the status is "Writing system registry values" I get this error:
"Error 1404. Could not create key \Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\Convert to Adobe PDF. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
FYI: I have installed and and uninstalled this very product several times before on my previous machine, but that was running Windows Pro in a bootcamp situation, not through Parallels.
Thank you for any help at all.

  • Error 1601 when installing Acrobat 9.5.2. What to do?

I get error 1601 and a failed update message when trying to install the 9.5.2 update of Acrobat. There is plenty of room (I think) on my hard drive. What do I do to install this update?

Are you logged in as the administrator? Do you have anti-virus disabled? Have you tried a repair to your current version? Are you updating from the help menu, or have you downloaded the update from the Adobe.com>downloads?
One Microsoft link suggests it may be a MSI issue and gives several possible solutions. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/error-1601 -windows-installer-is-not-accessible/08dce679-496d-43f4-a4b5-bb467800bb90

  • Invalid serial number error message when installing Acrobat 7

I have my original software CD and serial number but understand that I need to use the downloaded program because Adobe no longer supports the activation code required for installing from the disc.  I was under the impression that I was to use the original serial number.  This is what I used when reinstalling my CS2 Photoshop  in the same circumstances.
I downloaded 22001904.exe and ran it but when it gets to the serial number I receive invalid serial number message no matter how I enter the number.  I even tried cutting and pasting from my Adobe profile, since I have registered the program w/ Adobe previously along with other Adobe programs.
Can you advise me how to proceed?
    Sincerely,
    brokripananda

no, use the serial number listed on the page where you downloaded acrobat 7, not your acrobat serial number

  • Error 1603 when installing Acrobat XI Pro - no luck with any suggestions

Hi all - I have been trying to download Acrobat XI Pro via the Creative Cloud installer, but I'm getting the following message:
ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation.
    MSI Error message:
ERROR: Third party payload installer AcroPro.msi failed with exit code: 1603
I have successfully installed Photoshop and InDesign in the same way.  I have tried the following suggestions from the Community:
    Empty Temp folder
    Re-register msiexec
    Uninstall/Cleanup Tool/Reinstall
It gets to about 42% and fails every time. Any ideas?
    many thanks!

Thanks Ned.  I had already tried those suggestions.  Our IT Ops Manager finally sorted this out by running the installer manually, rather than through the Creative Cloud installer.  It was 'Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 11.0.01', which was not removed via the Cleaner Tool.

  • Error 16 when installing Acrobat XI Pro

I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for Palomar Audubon use. While installing on a PC running Windows 8.1 I received an "error 16" message instructing me to uninstall/reinstall the program. Since then I have been informed that 1.) the entered serial number (<Serial Number removed by moderator >) is invalid and 2.) I need to uninstall and reinstall the program. At my wits end I ask that SOMEBODY can solve this dilemma for me. Let me know at: < Email ID Removed by Moderator >Although I have previously been very pleased with available donations through TechSoup I am gradually becoming more and more disheartened by this installation problem?
    Now another message:

  • Repeated error messages when installing newest Reader update

Every time I try to install the latest version of Adobe Reader, I get an error message telling me that the installer doesent have permission to make changes to one of the related folders.
It also tells me that it is therefore my responsibility to change the Permissions Settings on my computer to allow changes to be made.
I don't know how it would even be possible, but I keep getting told that I don't have the authority to access that folder due to the security settings already in place on it
Adobe, your security won't allow me, or your own installer to access this thrice condemmed folder.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS MESS WHEN I CAN'T DO ANYTHING THAT WON'T RESET THE COMPUTER?!?!?!?!

    Irony is murder.
I just restarted my laptop and suddenly I found myself able to remove the blasted folder after all.
Never bothered to learn more than I've needed in order to get by.
I guess I need to take some more computer classes so I don't end up making a fool of myself with random acusations born of frustration.
Wish I could edit/erase like on some of the artistry sites I visit from time to time; love that recinding feature-WOOOOT!!!

  • Error 8018830f when installing Lumia Black update ...

I have repeatedly gotten the error message "The update was downloaded but couldn't be opened (8018830f)" when trying to update to Nokia Lumia Black on my Lumia 521 device. I'm on Wal-Mart Family Mobile (T-Mobile). The current software version is Amber, specifically firmware version 3046.0000.1328.2024.
I read in another post that you should change the language to something else and try again. I did that to no avail. I've also completely reset the phone to factory settings and it still gave the same error message.
I know this should work, because my husband's phone worked fine on the new update. He has the exact same phone with the same carrier.
    Solved!

Because you reset your device already, did you try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool, as well?

  • Error 2234 when installing latest itunes update on Windows 7

How do I clear error 2234 so latest update can be installed with Windows 7

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • "Internal error occurred" when launching Acrobat Pro X (AAMEE 3.1.150.0)

AAMEE 3.1.105.0 generated packages run fine when pushed to Macs that do not have an existing previous version of CS.
However, if pushed to a Mac that has CS4 installed, CS6 installs but Acrobat Pro X will not launch ("Internal error occurred").
We are using the latest Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium installer DMGs from licensing.adobe.com and we are following the standard workflow.
I know Adobe's position is "We don't recommend or support concurrent installs of Creative Suite" (I get that).
Since OS X lacks package management (ala Yum, RPM, etc.), the term "Uninstall" is vague, but we appreciate Adobe's "cleaner tool".
Unfortunately the "cleaner tool" is only marginally effective, it leaves a mess behind.
And...when "cleaner tool" is used to remove CS4, it whacks CS6.
Wait...it gets worse...when "cleaner tool" is used, we now can't push our CS6 package to the Mac...we get...<drumroll>..."Internal error occurred" when launching Acrobat Pro X.
Someone shoot me...please put me out of my misery.
Why can't deploying CS6 be as simple as...
    http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3938350&CAWELAID=479925582
    Don

OK, we resolved the issue. Apparently there was a ~/Library/ColorSync folder present, not owned by the logged in user, and the logged in user had no access. Given OS X's domain model, it looks like Acrobat Pro X looks at that folder when it launches, even though it doesn't need to, and it can't get into it, so it tosses up the error.
Removing the folder (since it's not needed) resolves the issue. If the folder was needed, we would change ownership and permissions so Acrobat Pro X could access it.
    Problem solved.
    Thanks,
    Don
